I love Subeta and I enjoy it's community, but after 8 years I've met 99% of my goals here and I don't enjoy playing as much as I did a few years ago. After some discussions in the main 'What do you think needs to be revamped? v.2' thread, it was decided that separating out pets may help the other page load faster and put a focus more on the other site art, such as items and NPCs. was in charge of the pets section and definitely deserves credit for organizing the pets on the main page.

Guidelines

• Before posting your suggestion, please check in its category to see if it's already been suggested
• Please be respectful when critiquing site art
• Remember to give constructive criticism as to why you think the art needs a revamp- it's helpful to know why something looks like it needs a revamp
• Give a reason why the art looks outdated to you- is it the shading, is the line art different from other pets, has the species been revamped, etc.
• Remember that the pets on this page are supposed to be in "desperate need of a revamp"
• Understand that the artists are limited and completely redrawing newer art just because there's a minor issue is a lower priority than revamping something with colored line art

Disclaimer: Please note that suggesting a revamp here does not guarantee that it will be completed. The revamps are still going to be done at the discretion of the creative department - but this thread might affect the order in which they're done! Thank you!

Several of the pets I would suggest just need a tweak here and there; less thick outlines, etc. Just touch ups in general.(Antlephore, etc.)

However:

Illumis

The Illumis is in desperate need of a revamp. It's outlines are thick and blocky, and it hasn't had an update in years (I never heard of it getting a revamp before). The shading is wonky and it shows its age in comparison to newer pets. The Illumis needs some love

and It's chibi color is also desperately in need of a revamp; it is chunky and the proportions seem a little wonky to me.

Kanis

Both Blacklight and Spectrum need a bit of a touch up; I think that the outlines are very heavy and that the lower feet seem odd in their current position.

The Galactic Kanis is one of many galactic pets that needs to be either touched up or redrawn completely.

Don't staff usually say they'll get to all the pets eventually when pets are suggested for revamps? :/

Na, that's requested colours. Rah wanted revamp boards so the art department could quickly see what they could update as and when they have the time.

The other thread (requested by staff) included pets too, but it was causing lag and suggesting pet revamps generally involved a little more input than the other items/overlays/NPCs, so let me separate this section out with a few extra guidelines.

The charlie needs a revamp as a species pretty badly, but I know that the artists on staff are generally pretty awesome about maintaining the "attitude" of a species when changes are made. I wouldn't worry too much about losing the evil smile!

yeah, they really do need that. seem outdated compared to other species.

The Swampie common poses need a revamp as a whole, not just the dusk and dawn. It's design is fine, but the common pose is soooo outdated.

Thank you, I just altered that section to just have the common swampie (as a representative for all the basic colors)! I think it was last revamped in 2007, so it's definitely ready for a little bit of a rehaul. :)

Most of the Endeavors need revamps, and I've been waiting on them forever. The ones that have been revamped are so beautifully drawn, I need more. D:

Endeavor

The hydrus endeavor is ok shading-wise (though it could still use a touch up), but its neck is horribly broken.

I added the Endeavor to the list... the shading on the ones you posted (especially the wings) is pretty dated. Thank you for the suggestion!

sobs as much as I know they're out of date, I love the sharp IC designs of the old ones, I can't abide the new ones, they're so awkward looking, I really should save the old images ¬_¬

That said the Hydrus came out in 2013 (News: 09/3/13), it's a new one and one of the only ones in that list I dislike very strongly you can tell because Hagane draws everything rounded =

Ahh, I thought so! It's in a very different style than the others. I'll take it off the list.

(Like you, I like the older style... the reborn and graveyard are my favorite endeavors. Maybe they'll just get touched up a bit rather than redrawn completely...)

The endeavors and cadogres were designed to be war-machines originally, I think the 'cuddly' look just makes them look weird, even if the old art is showing it's age it has better design theory behind it, which is a shame, with them being the only modern mechs on site, a lot of my pets ended up as them, and are all destined to be overlayed eventually because I don't want my war machines to look like they were made to play with preschoolers (when I stop being lazy anyway) XD The old ones are so different from the new designs I have no hopes for them just being touched up =<

I have always loved how the endeavor looks a little like a wasp/dragon, but the thicker limbs take that away. But yeah, I feel your pain... I generally prefer the less cutesy pets. I love rabbits irl, but the kanis leaves a lot to be desired. I hate bangs on pets.

I've the reborn, but I'm a little hesitant to add the chibi... it matches the design for the common and the shading and lines are up to par with the other art on the site. Could you be more specific?

If you think the chibi is fine, then don't bother with it because I'm iffy on it myself. I just think the coloring is a little dull. The color is a little off from the common, but that could just be my eyes. Here's both of them side by side.
