I've now added the common rreign to the first post.
As for short blurbs... I'm going to say no. The way the pets are organized right now is pretty simple and clean (both visually and from a coding standpoint). Adding text explanations to each one would make editing the first post much harder for me and the post itself wouldn't look quite as tidy for users who want to quickly scan and see what's already been mentioned.
You are correct; some of the pets are from the old feedback page. I don't have the time to go through dozens of pages of old threads to find posts when almost all of the pets mentioned are clearly/obviously in need of a revamp for one of two reasons: the art looks old because of shading/lines, or the species has been revamped and the art no doesn't match the current design. Unless staff specifically asks for explanations I'm going to leave the first post as is.
Thanks for the reply I see what you mean about keeping the post simple.
I agree, the shading, edges, and texture of the pets have gone through a lot of improvement over time. There are some pet drawings that really need catching up to match the current design. Hopefully they will retain their old poses though, because some of them are really well done.
I'm pretty sure Bovynes are in the OP but I just had to mention...
This guy isn't even on a white background ;A; god I love Bovynes, can they have some love now please?

The spectrum bovyne isn't in the OP, so I'll add that one now! I never noticed the background but now it's the only think I can focus on with that pet, haha.
I can't unsee it OTL I hope if they update it they keep the flawed look of the gem... thing... it looks really cool ;w;

Can someone explain the anatomy of the Angelic Antlephores' forelegs to me and tell me that they are not horribly broken? Here are some other Antlephores for comparison:

If not then I'd like to add the Angelic Antlephore to the list, I cannot look at it without feeling sorry. XD
I'm not saying it doesn't look good, it does look good! It just doesn't fit with the other field pets, that's the issue I have. It's more of a logistic issue than a aesthetic one.
Someone who want a green Cadogre can get a field one. Someone who wants a green Donadak can get a green one. Bt, if I was a Green Neela, I have to pay for Glade?
What I like in base color is that they bring diversity to the table with a cheap opportunity, and if I want a green Legeica, I don't have the opportunity to get one who is not glade, unless I want an overlay.
It can have more brown accents than most other field pets, the Noktoa who was mentioned earlier works well why clearly still being green, I don't mind. But the base color should really be green, not brown.
If we didn't already have a color which is a brown with green accents, I wouldn't have a problem, but we do.
I agree! I really like the bells that the bovynes carry... hopefully they'll get a little attention on the common pose sooner rather than later and we'll get a Subetapedia article that gives more info on the bells. :>
I think the "wrist" joint (where the carpals meet the ulna + radius) is maybe missing? Because you have the shoulder, the elbow, and then.... the next joint is between the metacarpals (hand bones in people) and phalanges (finger bones). Here's a picture of where the joints should be (probably focus on the right-most picture, as the anatomy would be the most similar between two ungulates):

I've never actually looked that closely at the angelic antephore. I'm not sure if I'm just overanalyzing it or if the joint is actually missing. :/
They all carry variations of SCP-513 and only they are immune ¬_¬ they're actually very sinister moos. I hope they keep the pose for the Angelic Bovyne though, I've overlayed mine but it's really cute, old art aside (I've actually attempted to keep the pose on my overlay ;w; ) I'd like to know if the kind of rhino-looking face is intentional or not though, it's... hard to tell. Sorry this is getting a wee bit off topic XD
what Nimbus said, the phalanges are missing and the metacarpals are tiny. The back legs are pretty borked too and like 90% of the ungulates on site its hooves are a mess ;;
BRAZEN BULL STEAMWORKS, BRAZEN BULL STEAMWORKS, BRAZEN BULL STEAMWORKS.
You're supposed to say it three times and then it happens, yes?
I sorta hope the rhino face is intentional... it would make them a little more unique than "weird/inaccurate cow anatomy" anyway. The hoof situation is really frustrating because some of the pets look fine and others are... not so fine. Antlephores and neelas should have basically the same type of feet/legs (if we're comparing deer and antelope)... but while neelas look fantastic, antelphores have a weird bulging just above the hoof. It's never made sense to me, especially because deer legs are very smooth and thin... and not bulgy.

Buuuut, I digress... Subeta seems to be moving toward more realistic anatomy (and has stopped using the "but it's not a deer, it's an antlephore!" excuse). So I have high hopes that when some of these species get revamped the big anatomy flaws will be addressed!
The angelic antlephore has been added!
I'd say it 100 times if I could get it all SW pets based on torture devices please.
Me too, I mean I LOVE cow faces, they're so pretty, but rhinos are cool too, and it's more original like that. Neelas have weird ankles... but yeah, they do have good feet, most of the ungulates on site look like their hooves are stuck on, rather than a part of them.
I hope when/if they update the antlephore they don't make it too different, a deer-like creature that /isn't/ perfectly elegant makes me happy XD
I think the Mahar could use a touch-up for the colour-fills!

The shading on some of the colours is blocky, and the highlights on the rounder gems make them look more like plastic than the nice shiny crystals on their horns. The belly crystals are a little plastic-y too. Additionally, it sort of looks like the colour is bleeding into the Mahar's right eye a bit? It might just be that there's so little sclera visible that it appears coloured, I dunno.
The Mahar is one of my absolute favourite pets and I'd just love to see the art come up to match some of the newer pet releases like the Neela, the retouched Chai and Terracoon, etc :3
(Personally) I think the mahar looks pretty good, but the shading is a pretty blocky- it probably just needs a touchup. I'm not sure if the mahar even has an artist right now... they were released right at the time when I joined the site (7.5 years ago), but they're missing most of the colors that involve a redraw. I'll add the common pose to the OP! As for the eye issue... I think the artist was drawing the eyes they way they're supposed to be, rather than just flat circles on the face. You're seeing through the lens of the eye to the color behind it. Here's a rl example:

Aha! That makes sense. Thank you for the visualization.
I totally agree that they look good, and that a touchup is basically all that's needed. They certainly aren't the worst offenders in terms of old art, but they're starting to look dated next to some of the others.
I noticed that the Mahar got the new Cherry and Silver colourfills, so that gave me hope that they did indeed have an artist... but I don't actually know for certain! I mean, it isn't as time consuming for an artist to do a colourfill, so it's plausible that one of the artists just... did them, without actually taking on the entire pet.
cuddles all the Mahars someday my babies
Both the keeto and ontra got cherry and silver so I don't necessarily think the colorfills are a good indicator, unfortunately. :/
The mahar has held up really well for such an old pet. I think that might be why it's gone so long without an artist. It really does need more colors, though. It's definitely one of my favorite pets. :(
