There is a new poll for you to vote in :)

Note: This post is for constructive criticism. That means tell us what is wrong with the pet, in your opinion. Personal attacks on the staff, or the artist responsible ('this fails', 'you suck as an artist', 'why did this get polled?!') will result in being banned from comments, and probably a warning :(. Be nice!

The noes. Its to long. And not wide enought

I like the revamp but the only things that seem off are the kind of side-bang going on and the position it's standing it. I can't really explain it but the way its stance is just seems a little off. Maybe if its pawss were drawn differently. Also, the side bangs is jsut a bit too much. Maybe if it was drawn smaller or something? Also, I think the wings should be jsut a bit bigger and maybe a little lighter.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Oh! And one more thing I just noticed. The left wing looks like it's connected to the arm rather than the back. I think maybe it should be just a little higher. ^^'

The only things I would change, personally, are the eyes to green (It just seems like a nicer color) and the feet need toes or something to break up the look of that stump foot.

Otherwise it's PERFECT, I love the fur and the detail and the wings look fantastic, it's a good pose for the pet (that looked strange anyway, haha) and it's got a great 'Subeta' look to it. Very awesome.

I think this is one of the best first copy of a revamp that has been released for us to vote on. The only thing that I don't like is the feet; they seem to be a bit disproportioned.

I like it wayy better than the old one, but I like the green eyes from the old one better.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I'll try to remember all I said last time. XD

1.) Eye color. I think a tone between green and blue would be nicer. Maybe a rich turquoise or teal. A deeper jewel tone will go better with the fur, and also make the dark wings look less out of place. 2.) The muzzle looks a little off. The smile is a little too big, and almost makes it a little creepy. XD 3.) Neck needs to be a little wider. 4.) The posture, I think, needs to be slouched a little more like the old version. 5.) The feet look a little too big. Especially it's right foot. That's actually the main thing that really bugs me.

Otherwise, I lovelovelove the new wings, the shading, the coloring. The fluffy ears, front paws, and tail are adorable! IMO, this is a fantastic start, and I think with a few tweaks, it could be a seriously adorable pet. ^^'

I love the facial features. The tail seems a tad to big. Maybe the eyes and wings could match? Something about the color of the wings is not quite right. I love it that it looks more detailed and clean, though. Better than I could ever do.

I love the detail most definetly. But what irks me is that it is a bit too scrawny compared to the head. The feet reminds me of something from DR.Seus... I don't know I think the eyes and wings should match, since overall both don't match the pet quite as much as the old one

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I like it except for the eye color change. Can't it stay green?

This has probably been said before, but there are only two changes I would make.

 1. The first thing I noticed is the nose. Something about the black lines that make the nose look too small and bent downward.
 2. The arms go from relatively narrow and then quickly billow out into really furry paws. I think a more gradual change in arm thickness would be better.

Thanks to another post I also noticed that the feet look a little strange. I like how someone made an edit that toned down the furriness of the feet and gave them visible toes.

My biggest issue is still the nose, but the overall image is really great. Of course I don't actually have a torrey so my opinion shouldn't count as much as those who really have one.

Beautiful coloring, beautiful shading, beautiful fur... but beautiful art alone doth not a successful revamp make. This just isn't a Torrey as we've come to know and love them. It looks more like a user's anthro fanart of the pet. To keep that cute, fluffy, sweet little furball look intact, it really needs to keep that slightly slouched posture and tilted head of the original. This one is standing up much too straight, making it look too human and resulting in, honestly, a very static and boring pose.

Another factor contributing to this is the legs; they're a bit too scrawny and straight, and turned outward from each other at an awkward angle. They look much more natural in the rounded, sitting-ish position of the original.

As for the furry hands and feet, I don't mind that - it's one of the things that made the Torrey unique and cute. Adding distinct toes would take a lot away from its character. So kudos for keeping that detail. However, the feet on this version look a bit too elongated and thin for that fluffy look to be natural. I'd suggest a more rounded look for the feet - again, like the original. (The arms and hands are fine though; I'm another of those rare few who actually likes the reversed tapering stylized look used here.)

Moving away from the details that make it look anthro... as many have said, the head looks too large, or the body too scrawny to hold it up (or more likely both). The face is unnecessarily wide and the snout unnecessarily small and pointed. If it's supposed to be based on a goblin, that nose makes it look more like a fox with a cartoon squirrel's body. I don't mind the big smile, which others have complained about - the original had a big smile and it looks sweet, not creepy at all - but I think that big stretched-out smile on such a tiny muzzle, combined with the eyes looking dead-on at you instead of slightly upward, might be why people are saying it looks creepy.

Finally, I agree with the many others who prefer the green eyes and pale brown wings. Blue eyes are far too common on this site already (yes, green eyes are almost as common, but what's important is not the numbers; green eyes simply looked natural on the brown Torrey, and there was no need to change them, especially to the already-overused blue). And that dark purple color of the wings doesn't match or even complement anything else on the pet. They're so dark, it looks like the fine feathering details and the wings themselves are hidden in shadow. The pale brown of the original made the wings more visible and looked more natural with the color scheme.

I hope this is constructive enough. The Torrey has so much potential to be an adorable pet, but this revamp just doesn't live up to it. This is probably another of those cases where just a re-shading of the original would be more than enough. The original pose, anatomy, and concept are fine as they are; it's just the lines and coloring that don't match Subeta's style anymore. But this proposal doesn't really match Subeta's style either, and while the art is lovely, most of the details changed (eyes, nose, wings, posture, physique) weren't really necessary and don't do anything to improve the species.

The art is beautiful, and it reminds me of the grinch, kudos whether or not you were aiming for that jag. ;DD

Though I do have two issues, the size of the eye and foot on the left side of the body. The eye being too big, and the foot too small, and somewhat arwkardly postioned, actually, the way in which Chou addressed both of is how I was thinking.

Also like others have said perhpas going back to green eyes? b]

I do like this revamp. I would rather see this than the old work. However, the wings throw me way off, they just don't make since. The feet are also a bit... fluffy.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

This is very nice. The eyes would have been better if it was kept to green and the wings back to it's original color. The feet looks kind of weird and the smile looks...weird. Nevertheless, it's quite nice.

This is awesome, first of all. Muchly improved from the last version. The left leg (the torrey's left) seems a little weird, because the torrey is at an angle and that foot sticks out the opposite way, but apart from that... I'd get one Actually I'd still get one.

The new colours are great too btw. Much more rich and pretty.

I have never really been a fan of Torreys, but I must say, I love the shading and coloring style of the new one. The artist (I believe it was Jag, right?) did a wonderful job with making the fur look so... huggable. xD There are a few things that are off to me, but I think that following Chou's visual representation really fixes the issues that I had, so the only suggestion that I have would be to look at Chou's picture and see if some aspects could be implemented. I especially like the way that Chou changed the snout and eye size. Oh, and since it isn't said enough these days, thank you artists not only for all the new artwork, but for giving us a chance to give constructive crits on the revamps! Thanks for everything!

I think my main problem is that the feet remind me of the grinch. The look too fluffy, and need to be more animal-esk. The torrey is looking more like a Popoko and less like its original species. The head is ok, but the bottom needs to be re-done, no offense to the artist :/

Improvements always are good, but there a few things here that are making me really iffy about this revamp...

The wing on the right side of the image (the Torrey's left wing) looks like it's coming out of its biceps... If there was a spot of wing-color in that little triangle between forearm and side, then it would just look as if the wing dips lower back there, but the way it is now it just looks awkward. The snout looks... abnormally narrow. Kind of like those chihuahuas that aren't full-blooded, and look like they're proportions are off. It just looks too small for the torrey's face. The feet... look like they have an over abundance of fluff... sort of like a mix between Dr. Seuss and Berenstein Bears. The torrey's left foot, the one on our right, especially gives that look. The head just seems huge compared to the body.

The coloring is great. The wing color is awesome, I think it's a nice contrast to the torrey's over all color. The big eyes I get, it's a torrey thing, and it looks... right. The tail looks capital-A-mazing. I love it.

:3 Sorry if I repeated anything that was already said, I couldn't get through all the comments...

Mmm...I dunno about this one. I think I really just don't like Torreys. XD But uh, something about this just seems awkward and off. I think part of it is the fluffy paws and feet; the feet especially look odd without toes. But I guess it's supposed to be like that... The muzzle could be bigger too, or at least the mouth smaller. I do like the color of the wings though.

I think the new one is a vast improvement over the old. Granted, I just joined about a month ago so I'm not attached to the art of any particular pet yet. Yes, it looks 'cute,' but how else should it look? Subeta can have a few cute pets without being for babies.

As for what I feel could be made better: the pose is a bit awkward (mostly the positioning of the arms, I think) and green eyes would probably be better and it would give it a more mischievous look.

If this were a new pet post I may have liked it, but it kinda seems like the personality that was in the original just isn't there anymore. I can see why there should be a revamp, but the colors were great as they are, so I kinda like the approach that Arbor was taking when she tried really hard to keep the original concept/look. It's cute, but I still think the old one's cuter XD; No offense.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

It looks nice but the face could be smaller. Like the fur on the sides seems to stick out a bit. Also, try a different stance? :/ The feet bother me.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

It looks really nice, and awesome lol, but like some other people have obviously pointed out, the figure is too stiff, but I guess if you're going to add clothes to the pets, this is probably a good stance. Also, the eyes make it wayy too cute for some people If this is what the normal one looks like, what will the chibi one be like? It will probably seem less cute, therefore, more of the chibi potions, then less people participating in the potion lottery. Lol that was really random. But still, if people like the NORMAL version more than other ones, the potions won't be as popular for this pet. So try making the eyes more.. (human?) Well more like the ones that we have on our HA's.. the plain-ish ones maybee? Lol not making sense. Anyway lovely redraw, you just have to re think about some things before making this the new pet. (it's a torrey right..?)

I really appreciate the approach to the new Torey, it is nice. I do think the face could use a little work and the feet. The eyes feel a bit too big as well. I really like the wings though, they are very nice! I agree with a lot of the comments on here, I like the idea of green eyes, green and purple (the wings) look very nice together I think. I like the red-lines done by AcaciaKumori in her comment. I think that would be a nice fix for it. Overall I love the new look, the old look was so dated looking. Thank you!!

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I agree with the others about the feet. They look a bit too fluffy. The art is awesome, but the stance looks a bit off. I like the fur details, but some parts look more cartoony but not all. It's better than the old one, but definitely can be improved upon.

I feel like others have stated, that you have taken a chibi approach with this Torrey, and other recent pets I believe. Although this revamp is cute, it could be done better for my tastes. The pose is too stiff, and could be curved more into a new position, similar to the old one but better. This style suits the latest art on subeta, but I do suggest making the eyes smaller and less chibi-like. The muzzle more pronounced, too, and larger wings to appear as if it is attached to its back, and not its arm. It appears fingerless too, in the old art there was a thumb, now there is none. The legs also are in an odd position, and fit into the 'stiff' effect of the pose. I believe if they were more relaxed, it would look a lot better.

Ah, unfortunately this pet is not to my liking. The art itself is very nicely done; however, I do not quite care for the feet, for they remind me of a Muppet. The pose itself is also rather...un-Torreyish? I almost feel as if this could be a new species. The current Torrey is rather casual and friendly looking. I feel that this version has lost some of that vibe.
