Exactly! It would SUCK if we take the chance and buy things only to find out we wasted SP/CSC on things we now have doubles of when we could have crossed more WL items off our lists with the same amount of money. -_- That is what I dread.
Worse when it comes to CSC but even spending unneeded SP isn't fun. It's not exactly easy to make back millions of SP depsending on what you buy, and I tend to buy more upscale items most of the time.
There are 137,449 users of Subeta
let's stop saying it ran through 150k users, please.
@Cresenta Totally true. When I buy things for myself, I tend to splurge. And inevitably, you can't sell it back for what you bought it for. So yeah ... not a good situation :/
Yup. I feel like we're all just on "pause" or something from the site until this thing gets sorted out. Just putting a bit of a damper on everything on Subeta atm. Just how I feel about it, others may not agree.
if that's all the site is to you, "They're just pixels," then kind of makes me wonder why you play here. Break a human body down and we're "just molecules." Doesn't make things any different. There really isn't any support to be given right now. This coding should have been checked and re-checked many times over before the 25th. These "pixels", as you put them, were bought and given put by people who care. There's a lot more behind these pixels than a bunch of dots on a screen.
Yes staff cares. But the fact that updates to these issues have been given in more hidden ways - News comments and a post in here (no offense Rasputina, darling) and in a ticket instead of it being front and center in an official forum thread in Site Updates is what's getting people on edge, too, I'm pretty sure. Even something as little as, "No updates yet" would be better than what we have been given as of yet.
I don't care if the site is taken down for a month even for the coding to be re-worked and cleaned up and fixed. If that's what it would take to get the bugs out, I'd be more than happy to go through a long wait period just so that the site works properly. It'd probably be a lot easier to fix coding if the servers weren't bogged down with user base. The long and short of it is that the site needs fixing and that there needs to be some way to do it without all the heavy traffic on the servers.
I'm sure that GAs would be put on hold during the downtime, too, so that time isn't lost, or reimbursed with X amount of time if unable to hold GAs.

You completely missed my point, and I'm too tired to even argue my point lol.
I'd prefer to be updated when they actually have something to tell us instead of every time a problem occurs and they haven't figured out how to solve it yet. Sure an update saying nothing new pacifies a few people but people should realize that no news is good news. It means they are working on it and nothing that bad has come up that they need to inform everyone of. It has been 4 days. That's within their "few days" posted in the news when they said they would update us. If it goes to 7 days and we've heard nothing, maybe a news post with an update and an estimated time of when the gifts will go out would be nice. Right now, though, there's more panic and impatience than there really needs to be.
Guys, a 150k users did not get the stocking events. It affected users with IDs up to (approximately) 150k. In reality, there were probably only a couple hundred people, at most, who got the event because your account would have to be 9 years+ old and even then it seems like it skipped over some people.
The site doesn't back up every five seconds. They didn't do a rollback because they basically would have had to take the site down for the weekend to keep users from wasting their time. It might seem like the preferable choice to you now, but people would have been pissed to see the site go down during a major holiday weekend. They made a choice based on what they figured would be the lesser of two evils.
A recode takes forever and is pretty costly (I remember a distant 40k$ - it has been a while tho). While you may be okay with the site being down for a month; not all of us are. Especially Subeta, which is running on our money with CSC jsyk. Also, the trees/stockings have been broken for years now. Even if they fix the cake layer, next year there is no guarantee that it will NOT happen again. @ Wolf_Spirit
I don't want to get my virtual gifts in a month, nor do I want to see the site down for the same time length. I'll be back in school with my 2 jobs so nty. [Edit] tfw u don't know how to english anymore
Thank you so much for this information. Speaking for myself I'm happy to wait until this problem is completely fixed if possible and that might mean every exhausting idea. Yes, I would love to receive the gifts that friends were thoughtful enough to send but not at the loss of knowing who these lovely people were.
I'm fairly certain that it's already been said that taking down the site isn't going to fix all the problems, as they can work on the coding while the site is still online. I'm not sure why that is still the go-to plea. https://subeta.net/forums.php/read/820971/Take-this-site-offline-for-24-hours-to-fix-issues/1
Hnyeaaaaagh I finally found the post where Keith directly told that shutting down the site wouldn't help, just to find that beat me to the gotdang punch by what, SIX MINUTES x.x
People who keep saying, "a rollback should have happened", either don't seem to remember or have no idea what they are like.
Hell, I can imagine the amount of pitchforks and ragequits that would have occurred if a rollback had been done, only for the glitch to happen anyways after the site came back after being down for 48 hours.
I have the utmost faith and trust in Keith and everyone working on the issue.

Aha, I finally found the thread! I knew there must be a thread on this by now but I've skimmed the most promising nooks and crannies of the forums over the last few days and apparently somehow missed it everytime. Thanks to whoever referenced it on the newspost - at last I have some news!
My personal feelings are that:
I'm happy to wait a bit longer if that what it takes.
I personally feel very well compensated by the CSC, GA and extra quests. Thanks very much.
I thought asking the users to manually delete things on trust was an interesting choice a) because it was such a mess people had a hard time working out what they actually got from the glitch b) because of past events lots of people apparently thought they only had to delete duplicates, so could keep one copy, c) those with loads of gifts had a boring fiddly task to do over xmas, and d) for every 10 honest souls there's one unscrupulous bastard who'll just keep some loot. I don't know if there was a better solution, but it made me feel a bit cynical - I'm sure the glitch generated a lot of profitable items that are still on site, and it's the honest users that won't have profited - indeed, they'll have lost time and may have wrongly deleted items.
It's a bit rubbish if gifts go out anonymously to some people. Makes me incredibly glad I wasn't glitched as I don't really have a circle of friends on here and yet kind hands still filled my tree up by early Dec. I was and am super touched and want to properly thank those people. I would have literally no idea who to thank if my tree was glitched.
I'm very glad there was no rollback.
More communication would be better. I wasn't too suprised to log on each morning and find gifts weren't ready, but I was suprised find gifts weren't ready and there's no news as to when/what/why. A ticket to one user, shared with a friend, who then posted it on the forums which I couldn't even find for days isn't how users should find out about stuff like this. I'd have appreciated even a quickie news post.
That's just my feedback to how I feel - I'm not in any way saying people who feel/want something different are wrong.

In all honesty, I made that thread and forgot about it. Seeing as how Keith never pinged me to it, I never saw the answer.
The issue should've been put into an official thread and all information given by staff in the news comments, tickets amd in this thread should've all been in one place in that thread instead of all over the place. As it's been a few days, the update of "No news yet" is better than silence.

Oh Subeta. You keep being you. I'll keep not being surprised by this sort of thing...
I agree, an official board should be made for this. And, even if no updates are available, make the board a "FAQ" to answer some of these recurring questions, such as if we can still keep giving gifts and why the super old script even ran to begin with. If nothing else, that should reassure some people and calm down the frustration a bit.
I haven't given much, and actually want to send more, but I am waiting till this is all sorted out. The people I gave to and myself seem to not have been affected, but still... I want to be sure before spending more sP and CSC.
This issue affected me, my user ID is 155383 so I must have been on the tail end of it, bummer.
I deleted everything I had and the events. I had too many events, they broke my sidebar and I could barely get the site to function long enough to delete them. I have no record of what was sent to my by whom so I will be very upset if that information is lost and I can't thank my friends.
At this point though I'm just hoping we will get our items.

I am honestly very annoyed by this. For once I expected this year's lumi to not go wrong and I was way off. Last year we got doubles as well. So this year we got the chance to get doubles or even triples again?! This site is over 8 years old now not some new site. I spent 100's of millions of sp and tons and tons of csc to have this happen and to have users not even know who gave them what under their trees and to risk them keeping the extras they recieved and selling them later. A roll back would have been such a better idea than this and a little csc and a 1 week gold account did not fix anything for me regardless if it was in best intentions. I am also super annoyed with the lack of official communications about this seeing as the only reason I knew this tread even existed was because of a user posting it under the news post.
