I don't really have any friends on Subeta, but I spent over 600 million sP on presents this year anyway. Even though the primary purpose was to make strangers happy, I would still like to have some recognition, you know? I don't want individual thank-yous from everyone I gifted, but I would like to stop being a nobody on this website, and I don't know how else to do it besides actively participating in these site events. If our names aren't attached to our gifts, then it will be as if I never participated at all. :'-(

I am so very grateful to the Subeta team for trying so hard to mitigate the issue and placate us with gifts, but on the other hand I feel as though someone should have seen this coming. Subeta has technical difficulties so often that I thought they would work extra hard to prevent a glitch or server crash for as big of an event as Luminaire. I don't know, I'm just worried that all of the effort I have put into Lumi this month will be wasted. I was really looking forward to it.

There was a SIGNATURE here. It's gone now.

I don't mind the wait, personally. I'd rather they make sure its fixed for everyone so we can all get our stuffs (and hopefully with the names attached) =/

I swear this Lumi has been one crazy thing after another haha.

On a side note, possibly unrelated. But maybe related? I double clicked on melody by mistake, like I twitched, and received TWO copies of the gifts for today. I deleted the extra ones but I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the tree glitch or if it was a random coincidence. DOUBLE ITEMS FOR EVERYONE! At least I got to be included in the delete the extras this time around. devious cackling

I really like 's point, actually.

We should have anon gifting on trees. Why isn't that a thing?

Confirming. My account ID is slightly over 150K(I'm 165507!) and I was not affected by the glitch. :)

I know nothing about coding but I think an important question to consider is "Can they?" Can they fix this particular thing or is the information of who gave what lost? If the script ran and spit all the info out already, is it still retained anywhere?

Clearly they're trying everything they can if it's taking this long.

If worst comes to worst, I wonder if it's possible to give a list of people who gifted the individuals affected to them. Not specifically what was given, but a more general "x left something under your tree!" "x left something under your tree!" in the event bar. Then if you want to know WHAT they gave you, you can ask them and they can try to remember. If you don't care what they gave you specifically you can just give them thank you messages.

Surely they backup their data on a regular basis and/or maintain transaction logs, right? I'm certain the information is "out there" -- though I don't know how straightforward it is to access.

But even if it's not easy to automate the process of fixing the tree data from the backup, they could try what they did with the early gifts: distribute the workload by asking users to chip in and do their part. I'd be willing to manually claim, identify, mark, whatever the gifts I gave if that were possible.

I just had a Pirouline artisan rolled wafer cookie. Did you know that if you eat them like 'chomp chomp chomp' while blowing it sprays crumbs all over the place? It's kind of like a 'crumb fountain.' It's more fun then watching a casket warp, or watching a fly crawl up a drapery or waiting for my Luminaire Tree to open up. Unfortunately, you cannot make a crumb fountain out of a chocolate hazelnut Pirouline cookie because the chocolate hazelnut filling is thick and it plugs the hole. I ate a whole box of them waiting for my tree tonight. I'm running out of Christmas cookies to eat waiting for my tree.

Yes, I am a role-playing character, but I don’t bite (much.)

Everything worked just fine last year. What happened? And why is the old script for the stockings (which haven&;t existed in 3 years) still on the site?</p>
<p>Please, please tell me that Subeta is not a cake. I&;m picturing the oldest site, then newer ones layered on top instead of cleaning the plate. Yuck. Well, it&;s easier to understand where never-ending lag and glitches come from if that&;s so.

This is what I'm completely baffled about. The stocking script should be long gone and it definitely shouldn't be triggerable.

I'm already sick of waiting but the glitch actually needs to be fixed, completely. I don't care about being thanked or "getting credit" for the stuff I sent out but this is the first year in ages I've really had presents. I'd love to know who they actually came from so I can thank them.

Sorry but I rather wait then get my gifts anonymous. I want my friends to know that I gifted them and didn't forgot about them. Same with people who I talked to this year and helped me who I left a small gift as a thank you. Seriously, I don't care how long this takes.

I can't understand why we haven't had any kind of information or update from staff regarding this, let alone any kind of update about the trees!!

IMO I don't think it's right for that information to have been told to 1 person via ticket and the rest of us left in the dark. Heck, were we never going to have been told about it and the trees just opened anonymously if OP had never made this thread?!?!

I don't think it would be right to have gifts released with no way of knowing who sent them, as like many people have said, it's only polite to thank the gifters.

I don't mind the wait, and I understand things happen that can't be predicted and can only be duct-taped after the fact!

But I'm pretty concerned that when the trees ARE fixed I won't be able to confirm with my roommate what I sent, and whether anything is missing.

My "gifts given" page is completely empty. Zip. Zero. Nothing showing, no info, useless for me as reference. My memory is very, very, very poor. (To the point I literally sometimes can't remember how to even talk.)

So not only is my gift page useless, I'm just as useless for relying on what I did.

This wouldn't be a problem if it were just a handful of items, but... Like the very smart person I am, I didn't write down nor screenshot the things I bought/the amount of items I purchased/the amount that I spent. I have a rough ballpark number for cost, but that's it. Ironically the reason I don't have these things is because I forgot about doing it.

See, I chose this year (of course I did) to put into action "bury my best friend in a literal avalanche of pixel goodies." I went to their wishlist and cherry picked items (probably something like 90 percent of everything out of 30ish categories). Now I'm seriously regretting what was supposed to be a fun and silly end-of-the-year event for us.

:x They ended up with 3k+ events during the glitched stocking event fiasco, and required a ticket and mod assistance to even access their inventory to delete items. This took time, and they missed several days of gameplay because of this, where they couldn't even visit Melody*, do quests (so they missed out on the bonus quest compensation), etc.

Even so, they have no way of knowing what I sent, and with 3k+ events, there's no way they could keep them for reference or compare to what they received. The list only shows like 100 at a time, and became unviewable past the first 100 or so.

What I'm trying very awkwardly to say is that I don't care about recognition since I literally only sent gifts to one person and they knew I was doing it, but I do care that things are very likely to have slipped through the cracks come fixed-trees-day. I care that I was counting on that record, and without it... I'm probably out my sP and my best friend's out their cool goodies. :'c

*Thankfully, at least this part has a good ending. Staff was kind enough to help out not just with clearing inventory enough for them to re-access it, but in re-gifting them the missed Melody items, and manually awarding them the achievement related to Melody since they missed the final days.

Six people are deleted from my gifting list and several millions SP worth, too. I made a copy so I can compare exactly. I don´t care if I have to wait some days longer for opening trees if only the glitch is fixed completely so that I as a presentee know whom to thank. Most givers chose their gifts with care and love (and RL money, perhaps) and it´s totally understandable they want to see the reaction of the presentee. We are not little children who can´t wait for Santa, fidgeting around. Coding takes some time, especially over the holidays where people spend time with their family. However, I am a little bit shocked about the whole event and next Luminaire, I´ll definitely NOT using the tree gifting function. I am going to send out the gifts via gift center like normally on Christmas Eve. Just in case.

Well, this just keeps getting better, doesn't it? Perhaps a rollback would have been best...

And for God's sake, get rid of things in the code that shouldn't be there! The stocking script should be saved in a Notepad file somewhere in case you ever want to bring it back, but if it's not actively being used, it should be purged.

For what it's worth, I have 10 people missing from my "Gifts You've Given" page. So thankful I keep my own records! phew

People keep saying everything went fine last year with trees. Maybe nobody remembers, but last year if you opened your tree within the first 60 seconds of the news post going up, you received every single gift from the previous year's tree. I had already received those gifts once, so now I had duplicates of all of those items. I remember getting an event telling me to delete them. Trees have always been a bit unreliable imo.

^ I agree with what said.

I also think we should wait until we get a message from staff before jumping the gun on this. I understand people are running out of patience, but we don't really know anything. already said tickets are not necessarily reliable. :s Worrying will not solve anything. Shit happens and this is the holiday season of all times, so I think we should cut staff a little slack. Plus the only recent staff message on the matter I've seen was Amber's reply on the news post about trees going out soon, possibly today.

.. Guys, the trees barely worked fine before? I don't know where people are going with such statement ha ha. I think it's time for staff to update us, before the shitposting and raging goes on. As I am right now, my patience is running thin (and I am already not a patient person). I'm very tired of getting the same layered cake every year. I understand that the mystical recode is expensive to do, but Subeta is running on borrowed time imo. I wonder, why anonymous gift option wasn't implemented beforehead? What a handy thing. I don't like how we get tiny bits of info from here and there, instead of someone facing the tango and updating us.

I was not affected by the glitch and all my friends are listed on my gift page, along with the correct price tag. As of right now, I just want an answer: What is happening?

PLEASE don't let gifts go out until this is fixed!!!

anonymous tree gifting isn't a function. It's due to the whole mess.

I've said it before and will say it again: Take the whole site down for a week or so, get things working RIGHT. Then, amd ONLY then, open the site back up!

I'm tired of the layered cake thing too, and according to Keith's tumblr, even MORE features are being removed come 2016!!!

Please stop removing things that users may love. Please also not ass anything else mew until everything is working properly!!! We won't get bored. If we do we can easily find other things to do until everything is FIXED.

Yeah last year didn't go smoothly either, I had to delete everything i got back then.

I hope they get it properly fixed this year so everyone sees who got what. I wasn't online when things went wrong this time so I'll still see the names. But I got some friends who rarely have things under their tree and this year i did some effort to focus on those people so I would be sad they wouldn't know I thought of them.

I'm personally starting to get impatient. No update in ages and with the end of the month coming near and the december collections retiring (I want to know if i can buy them without having the items under my tree).
