Hi everyone -

No one is obligated to feel a certain way about the topic at hand, but please remember to keep your posts (positive or negative) focused on providing feedback, and not at mocking each other and calling each other names. If someone is annoying you that much, you have the option to block them.

Solution for those who are affected by the glitch and receive gifts from "anonymous" users as a result:

  1. Create a forum thread titled, "come identify your gifts!"
  2. Users who received anonymous gifts then list their affected items and can either ping friends for confirmation or wait and see if someone pings back to claim they sent it.
  3. Senders who worry their sent gifts were glitched to anonymous status can report the gifts they sent out and to who. Or comment on the gift-receiver's profile or sMail if they clearly remember what they sent and to who.
  4. ???
  5. PROBLEMS SOLVED.

...this doesn't really require a whole lot of thought, guys. Instead of whining and making empty threats, start thinking up your own solutions to the problem at hand instead of throwing stones at staff for something that went wrong because it just happens. We're not perfect creatures, but hell, when life throws you lemons, you'd better bring your own sugar and water or else your lemonade's gonna be as bitter as your complaints.

It’s a Luminaire miracle, everyone!

If you read the Luminaire Trees FAQ announcement, you’ll remember this section:

Quote:

Quote
There are items I gifted to my friends that aren&;t showing on my Gifts Given page!
Yes, if you gifted anything to affected users after the most recent backup and before the old stocking code was run, those items will still be given to the user you gifted it to. But, unfortunately, since the gift row was deleted from the database, and our logs simply say the item that was given, along with when and where, we are not able to recover the information about who gave those gifts.
I’m happy to say that this is not true anymore! After going over the material for days, I’ve uncovered a table in our database that was unharmed in the process of the stocking debacle! Which means once we open trees, each gift will indeed include who gave it to you! We know this was something people were very upset over hearing before, so we wanted to update everyone and let you know this will no longer be an issue.

This does mean pushing the trees release back a day or two, which means the trees will be out on Friday at the absolute latest. BUT YAY NAMES.

The Luminaire Trees FAQ will be updated to reflect this new information! ?

Wouldst thou like to live deliciously?

I hope staff will show that they are capable of bouncing back from a mistake of this magnitude. But, I am going to wait til the trees open, and see how many issues there are from it (if any) before I breathe a sigh of relief and give staff any kudos for their efforts.

So far we have been told so many different things about why this happened, how it is being fixed, who will be impacted and how... only to be told something different later..

I agree. So far I feel as though the staff is not being as transparent as they could have been. Yes, it's great that Grelca is giving us updates and working her butt off, kudos to her, but the fact that the staff has just kinda glazed over the DOS attack subject completely (something fairly more serious than the tree glitch, though the trees are a bummer), not to mention for a week there they were like "yeah let's check if you're human, nbd just issues carry on"...I'm mildly disappointing in the staff as a whole so far, to say the least.

explained the DDoS problem in this post (and further posts in that thread). The "check if you're human" thing is an anti-DDoS measure.

DoS stands for "Denial of Service". A malicious hacker sets up a computer to try to access Subeta hundreds of times per second in an attempt to overload Subeta's server and crash the site.

DDoS stands for "Distributed Denial of Service". The hacker sets up several computers, throughout the world, to do this -- and because more than one computer is involved, it is harder to defend against this type of attack by simply blocking a few IP addresses.

As a general rule, a DDoS attack is intended to disrupt a site, but it does not seek to compromise personal information.

I hope this helps.

aaahhh...:(.... i understand and was complete wrong... i think it means something have change on clothes... ffft... english is not easy, thank you so much for patience and translate.

really, i will never, never understand in my life why hacker do this shit. if they are clever they sell their knowing (?) for some industrial firma and work for them, many big ones have hackers and they check always the firma security programs. that's much better than spoiled games sites. stupid.

how ever, thank you again
