yaaaaaaay! waves frantically at everyone hello all!
YAAAAAAYYYY! Waves frantically! Come on in and have a seat, the kettle's on.
Thanks for inviting me, This should be an interesting place to be!
Welcome, my dear dear friend! It's good to be on a board with you!
It is! I have missed WAA, I must say Witchy was so good, it was just the right pace for me, and because Im in England, I miss pages of super quick threads lol.
So, although this is not the SPA board as such, I can take it that I can ask and ruminate about beliefs here?
See Ive always been a seeker, it was all Church when I was a kid, mainly to get us out of the house lol, and growing up, I wanted to KNOW [my dad was the same apparently] So I looked into all sorts of beliefs, and did the 1st level of Reiki, then felt weird about it and had an experience that has stuck with me,but I cannot shake the feeling that there is God and Jesus, maybe because it was dinned into me when I was young, and Im scared to deny that now.
Another thing that has always amazed me is how, all over the world, from time before time, people have always had some sort of beliefs, gods, deities they looked up to, that has always fascinated me, the 'why' of that, you know? What made them even think that there were higher beings than them, that they had to praise and thank and hope for better lives?
I think we all struggle from time to time with early childhood "programming" especially if it was intense. I know that I still have my moments of doubt after all these years. But I think that for most of us there is a need for spirituality or religion. We long to draw near to a higher power. Most religions teach us that we grow loser to God by doing good deeds. So we try to do good deeds, we try to draw closer to that higher power. I think without that belief, without those good deeds we would begin to despair....
Oh yes we do need something, my daughters dont particularly believe in anything, but they do think that we should do good deeds and generally 'be good'
I feel theres 3 parts to life, physical, mental & spiritual, and we have to nurture all three, sadly spiritual has fallen by the wayside a lot here in England, I think people have a feeling of something 'missing' without it.
Your banner is wonderful. can I ask do the symbols denote anything? excuse my ignorance!
The symbols on the banner are crop circles which have finally been exposed as an elaborate hoax, but I still find the imagery beautiful...
I wish there was more spirituality in the leadership of the big countries, I think we need another Gandhi to remind some of these leaders to be nice.
peers at the kettle expectantly what kind of tea shall we have today? I agree that spirituality is an important aspect of life, and western leaders need empathy and morality. I also believe in separation of church and state. And that Nature needs to be seen as less of an inert "thing" to be exploited, and more of a living entity we're all a part of. I feel that so strongly. And never understood how anyone, no matter what they believe, could treat everything in creation (except maybe parasites and viruses lol) with anything less than respect and reverence. Creatures, landscapes, sunsets...Earth is pretty amazing. <3
Thank you so much for inviting me to this chat! I'm excited to join.
Hi everyone!
I so relate to your feeling of not being able to deny God. I was pushed into Christianity early on as well, and it took about...five years of fear LOL to overcome worrying about going to hell for denying God. I think being a knowledge seeker really affects our outlook in that way. Even though we can't "shake hands with Jesus", we can't prove it wrong, in a way. So what if there are more answers??
What kind of tea do you have? A nice mint or chamomile is always nice!
wooops, I already poured a violet one! idk, might be perfumey, might be nice.... :P
That sounds so good! I've never had violet tea!
~~~~WAVES Frantically~~~~ I haven't seen you around for SO long!! :D
Hey Girly! , I subscribed to the thread, (hahaaa you know i always LOSE where my threads that i talk are)
(pokes raspberries)
:D :P :D
💋
heh. I started out doing horoscopes. and I'm another one, that was "forced" to go to church when i was younger. I've gone to all kinds of churches, depending on where i lived.
I've been to Lutheran, Methodists, Baptist, Catholic
in fact, when i was a teenager, there was a Catholic church on my way to the "river" that all of us kids used to walk to and play.
and I used to go in at night (late evening) and just sit in the pews, listening. no one was there, and it gave me the same feeling I got, when I sat in the middle of the woods (my grandparents farm) with the sun shining through the leaves and the wind gently moving through the trees.
it was so peaceful.
but the CHURCH PEOPLE. ACK!
I think what really turned me off of actually GOING to church, was the way I would see these people (especially the men) in church, "oh holy holy" but saturday nights they used to come into the restaurant where i worked, drunk and with "floozies/picking up women" and when, during the rest of the week, they were mean evil men. and the women were all "look down your nose you're not good enough no matter what"
of course. through this whole time, I'm going from horoscopes, to tarot, to wicca, to reika, to buddhism, to pagan, to just believing in "nature based" and balance.
I believe in God, Goddess, and that they are in you. YOU are "God" not "Almighty, Miracles R Us God"
but "live like you want to be treated, Respect all around you, Don't Destroy for your own benefit, and Appreciate the differences we all are." Because That's what makes us beautiful, our DIFFERENCES.
any way.
lol SORRY!! didn't mean to get carried away. I usually refuse to talk about "religion" heh.
Every one feels differently about it. :D
OOooo, we should get over here, bringing us some YUMMY YUMMYS tea!! (and her crystals!) :D
Hi all. I am a coffee drinker so I should supply the coffee. ;) My beliefs drift from agnostic to goddess worship and back again. Never followed any particular group so I think of myself as non specific pagan. I am open to hearing about what others believe. Lifelong battle with depression has made belief in anything a bit difficult.
I know! I haven't been around much for over year and a half! <3 How have you been?
Your path to Deism sounds a lot like my path to Santeria! I tell everyone I took the cross-town bus to get her, not the express, so many stops along the way...but oh my stars and garters, don't get me going on "church people"...
Hi! Good to see you Lady, dear!
Depression is hard, so hard...but I'll always have a cup of coffee with you. I drink tea when I want a 'fancy' drink, but coffee is my go to. So I'll help supply coffee, and of course the donuts to go with! :)
oh man. i fight that also. (depression)
It's REALLY funny, because I was JUST thinking of you!! the hubby brought me home some veggie and herb plants, and I was planting them up this weekend, thinking "i need to go by Gaia's profile and leave her a comment" hahahaaaa
i got some tomato plants, 3 different kind of basil, chili peppers, he even brought me home some fennel and leeks! (SHOCK) he got me some mint also, but he got me CHOCOLATE mint! hahahaaaa any way. i planted it in it's own container (it smells WONDERFULLY CHOCOLATE) and i was thinking i could make something "fancy with whipped cream" and put it on top of that.
he got me sage, and parsley and kale too. he got me spinach leaves :( but i'm hoping I can get them growing from seed (ha)
he also brought home a bunch of green pepper plants, regular tomato (he got me 2 cherry tomato plants for my porch), jalapeno and more seeds of a bunch of stuff, that he's going to plant down in the little garden area we have.
He ALSO brought home quite a few bags of top soil and he actually tilled the garden, and mixed in the soil. he'll plant the plants next weekend.
he really surprised me bringing all this stuff home. and that he actually remembered the plants i wanted for my porch, really made me happy.
PLUS the other day, he brought me home a hummingbird feeder, and i already have a bird coming and feeding from it! SO HAPPY!!!
:D
hahahaa , i was talking so long to gaia
and yah. it takes a lifetime really. (or should)
and i'll have coffee to! I'll bring danish! :D
