Yeah, that's what I heard. I like to think that they survived though...

I know they're children and it's not nice to think about them dying, but sometimes I think the story is more complex and well-crafted if the characters don't all survive and escape? It would make so much sense if the Giver was deliberately trying to get Jonas to go out into the world in the middle of Winter so that the memories would be released into the ether. I feel awful for the baby though, and all the babies who've been Released before him.

yesss!! What made me read it in the first place was the fact the main character is gay but that's not the book's focus. Its just so well done. I'm gonna look into The Rest of Us! I remembered I almost bought it when it came out but then I didn't for some reason. Rip.

haha you know I never would have noticed that! I had recently randomly changed my forum title to one that just felt right to have at the time... and of course my UN is simply the last name given to an old OC of mine (her name is Kassandra KillFeather, a mountain lioness fursona). then I whipped up that HA for a wintery scene idea.... you're right it does fit well! thank you for bringing that imagery to my attention! :D

I think you would enjoy it :D my sister mentioned to me it was a sequel? our of a 3 or 4 set... I've only read just that one, might have some books to look into myself! lol

also hope you both enjoyed your holidays and merriment <3

Oh I roleplayed Warriors back when I was on Neopets. That guild (or whatever they're called, I forget) was what kept me active on Neopets for a little longer, but then I just sort of...dropped off the face of the earth on Neopets sooo those users were probably like "Where did she go?" rofl.

I only really recall the first series (or the original one). I actually just googled it and omg I didn't realize how many books there are now! I've heard of Erin Hunter's other series the Seekers, but not the Survivors or Bravelands.

Patrick Ness said he tries to include a gay character in each of his novels. The only one he hasn't is A Monster Calls, which I think is probably because it wasn't his original concept and he didn't want to detract from the grief of the protagonist. I think that was a really good idea, because it's really not about romance or even every day life, it's about the child's grief and romance doesn't take any part. But that's why I love Ness so much - he has queer characters in everything he does. They're usually gay men, but that's okay. I'm sure I'll find an author for great lesbian literature at some point. I own all of his YA books now, and all apart from the Chaos Walking series I have signed. Maybe we should read The Rest of Us Just Live Here at the same time, so we can discuss it haha!

It was the first thing I ever roleplayed and I still go back to it. I've had a lot of users drop off the face of the Earth like that haha, it's always sad when you lose a good rper. If you ever want to pick it up again, you know where I am :p Yeah they have like 5 different writers now too, which is why some of the later series get a bit interesting. I don't read Seekers or any of the others, I don't have the energy for it, but I still love Warriors.

I want to reread it, but I only have the first book of the first series. I have pretty much all the others, which is ironic, because I can't read them.

It's easy to find, but expensive, and I'm disabled so I can't work. I just have to wait until I can find the other five books at a library. I have Into the Wild, but not the others. I have the rest of the series, for the most part, all given to me as gifts from family :)

, on literature featuring lesbian characters, check out Her Name in the Sky by Kelly Quindlen! That's one of my favorite books, I love it so much. But yes, I like that about him too! And we definitely should do that, it just sucks how much I have to wait for books to get here - I'm Brazilian and I don't like reading translated works, so I usually have to wait up to a month for my imported copy to get here!

here is a good thinking idea, if my forum title and UN were to be created into a book.... what kind of book should it be?

Hmmm I read a book once, and I can't remember what it was called, it was about a falcon and like the relationship it had with humans and other animals. Maybe something like that? A book from the perspective of an owl! Or an outside perspective that also speculates on the morality of humans and how animals don't really understand morality!
