Recolors are fine. 15+ recolors is sour, because every single user knows that subeta isn't just paying for that first item/wear combo-- it's paying for every one.

Hypothetically, because while we know that much (if artists were doing them all for free there wouldn't be 20 of anything and we'd see a lot more unique items coming out) we don't know if there's a cut off point (I'd hope so), if we see one artist recolor three items 15 times and we don't notice anything else from her for the rest of the month (all of artists have their unique styles, some are easier to spot than others) we're left with two assumptions:

  1. She spent most of her time on something else (maps, NPCs, revamps, upcoming events, pets, etc).
  2. She filled her quota with 3 items.

That's where large release bitterness stems from. Not because of recolors, but because instead of 10 new items with 3 colors each we get 3 new items with 10 colors each-- and if you just don't happen to like one of those 3 items well, too bad. There should be a lower cap on this, like the original item + a max of 5 recolors. If the item ends up being popular the artist could then, in several months, do 6 more recolors.

I think everyone, regardless of what type of item we're talking about her, would rather see 10 different amazingly done (quality) items in 1-3 colors/flavors/types/whatever than 3 amazingly done items in 15 colors each -OR- 15 clearly rushed items (stray pixels, odd saturation, shadows look gray instead of opaque, really thin/big lineart, etc) in 10 different colors in hoping quantity makes up for it.

PS: When I was talking about Custom Items, for the record, I meant Custom Items like Custom Wears only without the wear part. I know others are talking about the old school custom items (which I think would be fun for like, a fundraiser or a fun summer event to raise the site some mid-year income or something but not year round) but I'm just saying that's not what I meant.

I know those are also not going to happen, however I wouldn't mind if we just saw more suggestion board items actually be created xD

PSS: There is a time and a place for 50 recolors. Okay, not 50... but idk, 20. Like when a new staple item is made like the Dark ___ Potions, or Mage Amulets, or those new Flats/Oxfords that users have been harping about 5ever... then yeah, I can understand recoloring something 20 times. But miniskirts and lavalamps (... really?) AND ESPECIALLY WEIRD YEAR THEMED HATS/SHIRTS/BALLOONS/TUBETOPS that are not only weird but come in 10 colors (I'm glad that trend is dying, and I hope it rests in piece and all but I also hope it dies), no just a few will do okay.

Speaking of colourfills, here's a question that's been on my mind for the evening: would it be possible to make some items dyeable? Sort of like what we already have with changing a hairstyle's colours and streaks to whatever colour we want.

To explain what I mean: say that you have a dyeable t-shirt and a "dye station" section in the wardrobe with a colourwheel, kinda like the hair salon. Dye shirt into whatever colour you need at the moment (for a small fee). Red. Blue. Hot pink. Lavender. Chartreuse. Want a new colour? Remove the dye and re-dye the shirt (for a fee, ofc). Let the user choose the colour they want. This probably wouldn't work with fancy patterns like plaid, but if it could work with basic clothing items, or things with simple patterns (stripes, polkadots, even different colour sleeves, or stuff like that) it'd probably cut back on a lot of colourfill needs and free up some of the artist's time. If it's even possible in the first place from a coding standpoint.

Just a reminder that we're not talking about getting rid of quests at all.

That was used as an example to get my point across than removing restocking is silly.

Oh gods. So much to read through I lost my train of thought.

That isn’t our thought on it at all. Would you rather the shop continue to be neglected or actually get cool space-related things? We have a lot of things planned for stargazer and things we can continue to add to it.

Give stargazer star/space things and give Atebus Shop Scifi things? I mean;

Atebus Shop = More Scifi related things. (I know Atebus has apparently gone steampunk but I kind of don't like steampunk.)So as not to go down the wearable path, futuristic foods like either fandom related recipes or just freeze dried things. Spaceship models as toys. Action figures. Scifi novels and Scifi related recipe books. Replica space toy weapons. Nerd/geek things!

Stargazer = More star/space related things. Things about the stars, constellations, galaxies, ect. Books about the myths of the stars . Telescopes and lenses for them. Star charts. Astronomy related things!

Really though, unless Stargazer is turn into like the most awesome game ever, chances are for me I'd not play it that much. Add in the inventory of Atebus Shop and no thanks. I'll wait and pay someone else for the item(s) I want. I mean look at the Mind Reader game, I'm very close to just buying the items at this point and it didn't have a whole shop dumped into the prize pool. lol

Other points: I'm not a restocker. Why? I don't have the time to restock unless you count that I'll buy from NPC shops while questing. I'm busy doing quests to do much of anything else. With an event going on like now with masq I'm busy watching the clock so I can get the special currency so I can buy things.

I tried to restock before after I finished questing, sorting and pricing everything I got into frag/keep piles, fragging the cheap rares, stocking my shop, then autopricing. I'm usually burned out on subeta for the day after all that. It actually takes a bit of time when you add in that I tend to wander off site and get distracted. Heck I have a hard time squeezing in battle quests and Drills quests let alone trying to play a couple of games.

I&;ve written down some methods of making a few long term changes like if items sit in the shop for a long time without any purchases, clear those instead of just blanket clearing the shop and make it so they can&;t restock for the next few cycles.
omg! I suggested something like this ages ago when we got into the whole "things sitting in shops for too long and not being bought". No one liked my suggestion then even though it would have helped with the overstocked shops. We got retirements instead. Glad to see it's finally being thought about.

I now have a headache. This was way too much thinking for me at this time. :( lol

sorry to respond to your earlier post so late, but I totally agree with you. I generally only go to the Main Shops from the search page and, even then, I'll only purchase from a Main Shop if it's cheaper to do so - especially if I have the buff. Other than that, I rarely go straight to the Main Shops for anything unless I'm after something specific and hope that I'm lucky enough to catch the item I'm after.

I also am a wearable collector who's tired of seeing a ton of mass recolors of wearables while many areas of the site get neglected. Let's use shoes as an example. Sure, I'm pleased when I see a ton of simple pastel flats. I'd much rather have a seasonal influx of a variety of shoes, like a real shoe store. They don't release the same shoe in every color. It's a short green wedge, a tall floral wedge, and two kinds of sandal or it's a red pump, a cat patterned platform sneaker and some cute suede boots. Fashion does not work in recolors. Maybe a brand releases their classic pump in a new color every season or year. Or perhaps they have a signature color and different fabrics/styles. The point is that we've grown enough as a site that recolors just waste space.

I'm so against removing the Abetus Shop it's not even funny. C'mon, it's a real niche that people on the site can never get enough of. Where are the robot pieces? Models of the Subetan solar system? Nomad-themed items? If you're going to reduce the amount of shops combine Weapons Warehouse with Defend and Conquer. Having them be separate shops is kind of silly considering you don't even know what you could add to them. Use this mysterious business person you're teasing to broker a merger or something.

I do support more unique ways to acquire items. There are so many areas to the site, there needs to be a greater balance to how regularly they are updated. Also, I would like to add that sometimes users are stupid and don't do a good job realizing what they need. We want a million items. We need different items. Throw a niche item at this group, that group, that one dude in particular. Surprise us! What on earth happened to the adventurous attitude that gave us ?

With sleek mechs, masks, androids, cyber eyes, haze, bright glowing neon signs, wires and cables and and.. well you get the jist. THE FASHION IS GREAT THE THEMES ARE GREAT THE ITEMS WOULD BE GREAT and it was all ignored and apparently the shop will probably be closed instead.

I have a couple of pets that these sort of items would be PERFECT for. There's a lot of themes that wearables and items in general still haven't touched on despite there being so many suggestion boards to let the staff know what we want. There's so many threads just brainstorming with pictures and links and just people talking about how things could work and apparently they just get ignored lmao.

I don't even remember how long ago I made that space suggestion board but there was a lot of great ideas on there for items but there was no staff response. Maybe it didn't matter because they weren't wearables. I also have no idea how to play stargazer so unless the whole game gets revamped to become an actual game, nobody is going to play it even with the incentive of new space items. I have no idea how that game works and seems to run off pure RNG.

I&;d probably be glued to my computer on most of my days off just drawing pretty tc items if we didn&;t have to make them all wearables. I wouldn&;t mind if they ended up being cash shop items instead of normal site items (although that would be pretty amazing too). Make them 125 csc each and put them in a general cash shop section (aka there&;s no slots, no privates, etc). Subeta could pretty much do whatever they wanted with them and I wouldn&;t care. Control over them wouldn&;t matter as much to me as having the ability to upload niche items that will likely never be drawn by staff.

Would absolutely do this too. If i ever do make CWs I make the item image something i'd want in the pets TC anyway, so cutting out the wearable part would be A M A Z I N G. I need to read this whole thread but I dislike having to take slots on items because it's such a toss up if the item is gonna fill to 10 people and if it doesn't, its either out of your pocket or you're shit out of luck.

I don't get how the staff don't have time to do custom items? You apparently have time for custom wearables but won't make it for just items? I would even take less time than checking a full CW over since it's literally half.

User draws CI - goes into queue with CWs - accept or deny it's that simple. The fact that staff won't even consider this is ridiculous and you're shooting yourself in the foot for what could be a great opportunity to, idk include pet people into your apparent pet site. We have money too, but nothing to throw it at.

i'll come back after reading the whole thread to rant some more probably

I don't understand your resistance to the idea. The items would have to be passed before they were released. The end result would be your making money out of items that players really want.

Again, I was responding to the old school system of custom items, where staff had to draw them all. I don't have an opinion / comment right now on just changing the CW system to allow all items including non-wearables.

Technically I don't think it would necessarily be a change to the current CW system rather than there being an addition to it. Honestly I don't think it's something that SHOULD be thought about in too much detail at this very moment considering we're trying to get other things fixed on site rather than get new projects started, but I can appreciate that your aversion is based on the old-school Custom Items rather than this new idea thrown up by various users, (namely who is constantly full of great ideas.)

Hehe! You don't love him? He loves you! :D

Variety is a welcome challenge and much more thrilling than the same pair of pants that have been recolored and redone. (Seriously, how many plain pants does this site need? I don't find joy in collecting the same item over and over.) You never know what will become someone's favorite item. Where did the fun go? When did it become such serious business to play on this site? Give me a Glompy Fish, a hovering top hat, a weird scythe, an Emo Bubble. Offer excitement to me! The unexpected is glorious.

Wow, this topic has become quite sprawling.

I'll start here: I love wearables. I have had the 15k wardrobe items achievement for a while now and I have spent waaaaaaaaaaaay more on CWs than I like to think about. I like to dress up my HA and play in the wardrobe with all the pretty stuff I have in there. I can literally spend hours just picking through each layer to make an outfit I'm happy with. I upload to style file and I'm one of the original members of WAA(Wig Addicts Anonymous). I really, really like playing with the HA :D And with all that said, I too would rather see non-wearables released more frequently or at least in a better ratio to all of the wearable items.

I disagree with not needing 10 different colors of an item though because if it is a quality wardrobe piece that is a nice building block for an outfit, having it in a nice wide variety of colors is so nice. Having a belt in 10 colors instead of just black, brown and red makes it so much easier to use it for a nice pop of color or accent piece. Now mind you, my opinion on this only applies to "quality" wardrobe items. Those that look obviously rushed, sit wonky on the HA or are just plain weird to a point where it has extremely limited uses don't need recolors out the ass(again, IMO).

Moving on...the Atebus shop. This shop has so much potential, but it has been ignored for so long that most of the stuff in it is positively ancient by Subeta standards. I get it...staff wants Atebus to be associated with Steampunk. I'm sure there is a large enough following for those items that it makes sense to drive it in that direction. But there is also a fanbase for the cyberpunk/sci-fi/futuristic side of "space" that seemed to be what Atebus originally was based on. I ADORE the ideas that have been given here about having an underground area for Atebus that is geared much more towards the cyberpunk/shiny futuristic sci-fi side of things. Completely disbanding the Atebus shop and moving the items it currently stocks over to Stargazer seems like a huge missed opportunity. (for the record, I play stargazer daily just on the off chance I win the one readable prize). Even if the overhaul of Stargazer makes it the most super awesome fun game ever, it won't negate the fact that the Atebus shop could have been a thriving shop if some love had been sent its way and won't "make up for" the shop closing and its stock becoming prizes instead of restockables.

I appreciate the survey about restocking, but feel like it was almost too vague. When you are asking the users how much of their time they spend restocking, it seems only fair to ask them how much time they spend doing other things as well so you can get a more accurate idea of how people divvy up their time here. Maybe instead of a 1-5 scale have us complete a list of different things to do on Subeta and assign each "thing" a percentage of time we feel we spend on it. That way staff gets a better idea of the "weight" each activity on site has for users. I chose 2 on the scale of how often I restock, which I'm sure meant that I was put in the pool of "non-restockers", but if I had been given the opportunity to also rate the other things I do onsite, that "2" would have been put in context when I also answered a 2 for time spent playing games and a 2 for how often I do quests (outside of WSQ). I'm guessing that I'm like a lot of players where I go through phases. For a few days or weeks I focus on an activity here and then as my interest wanes on that, I move on to something else that catches my eye. I guess what I'm trying to say on the Restocking survey subject is that maybe a survey of "what do you do on Subeta" as a whole would be a better idea to give staff a more comprehensive picture of what people do while they are here and what they enjoy about Subeta.

Eh...back to the original post's point...I love wearables, but I agree that there is so much more to Subeta that needs love too.

Probably way off topic from where this thread has gone now, but I feel like I have to say this here.

I think what I'm afraid to see happen most is, staff ignoring people's pleas to revamp and NOT get rid of the Atebus Shop - Topic: Atebus Shop, Blackmoon, Sci-Fi and Cyberpunk and then somewhere down the road say, "Oh, people want more space-y things. Better make a cash shop line!" It would make so many more users happy to just revamp the shop and put quality items in there.

This is a mess and all over the place....

Just to clarify, when I posted the items like the and ,

I wasn't saying bring back custom items, yes that would be great, I was saying make items that people want to restock.

The is another one that is different and not the same old skirts, shirts and crap. Like this , that's different.

Use your imaginations come up with something that is different.

I don't really agree with people saying we don't need more wearables, wearables is what keeps this site going. Instead of making new wearables, turn some of the old items into wearables. We have an entire shop full of wands, rods, and staffs that would be great wearables.

could be muscles on the avatar.

I've been waiting since these kits came out, for some clever artist to come up with something awesome with them.

All of these signs would make absolutely awesome backgrounds. ( as in a road with crossing ducks) There is just so many things you could do with stuff we already have.

Also we need flooring (carpets, wood, concrete, linoleum), walls, foregrounds and ground items that work with each other. We have some great paneling and tile floors but we need moooorrrrreeeee!

Also no, I'm not one of those people who want every single thing on Subeta to be wearable. But Holy Mother, we need to be using what we have, not flooding the market with new stuff constantly.

I also don't want to see the Atebus shop go, I enjoy that shop alot. What I don't like is Stargazer, it's boring as all hell. Now maybe the new one will be great (I'm slightly excited) I just hope it isn't one of those things that everyone will forget about after a couple days.

Which brings me to the next point, maybe we could get another drop down menu at the top, that has all the daily things to do with links of course. Carnival games ruffie raffle stargazer Crypts...and on and on.

I know we can just go to the actual locations, but I think more people would do these things if it was all together in one place.
