Why should we, as restockers, be shown what rarity items are in the shop?

[edit] Besides, tabs are terrible on smaller screens.

Because to hide the rarity in the shops makes no sense anymore..

You're not really rsing Common-Normal items when you just buy them in one click.. - there's no competition here, and also many of them just stuck in the shop because the price in the user shops are much much more cheaper..

But if you already know that you are going to rs rare-very rare items, you know that here starts the competition and the REAL restocking.

So why not just to divide them like this and that's it? And tbh, half of the super rare items are almost under 150k, the good ones are only the boosters from AA..

I&;m super new so my opinion might not mean much but the one thing I did think there was a dearth of wearable-wise was backgrounds. Are they just not popular? Cause I feel like backgrounds can complement HAs really well. Like there are a million similar skirts and wigs and a whole bunch of weird strappy things I don&;t really understand in the trinket shop but not one bg :( Not even a ballroom/dance floor type bg? Idk. Most of the really nice bgs that do exist seem super ethereal/nature-based so I feel like they don&;t really work if you wanna have your HA dressed in normal clothes and not make them into something fantastic.

I think background users are more of a niche group.

I would assume the reason there aren't many backgrounds are because is it requires a ton more drawing than a simple skirt that can be recolored 5 times.

Looking in the backdrop category (ignoring CWs)

Those are some of the less ethereal ones. I think if more people used backgrounds and it took less effort to draw them there might be more. Hopefully with the update to the Blue Building there might be some there

But having it handed to you doesn't make sense, either. Might as well just have hovers in the stores as well/instead?

Personally I think separating shops by rarity in any way would be terrible, because sometimes the only edge a person with a middling to bad internet connection has is scrolling fast and knowing where to look in a shop to get the new set or a rare item.

One of the best parts of RSing is learning a shop and competing. Sorting by rarity takes away all that, and gives people with faster internet connections even more of an advantage than they got when CAPTCHA was removed from shops.

tbh my main request is to make the shops less messy and full, more organized by rarity/price/year whatever kind of sorting that will make everyone happy :)

I'm with an old computer from 3 years ago, and I can't rs directly from the shops because after 3sec my browser freeze and going down, it's too heavy for it to load more than 100 images, so I'm rsing r90+ directly from the search, which is much more difficult..

So maybe my suggestion by rarity is bad, but there must be a solution for the messy shops.. It's to organize or to do a mass retirements for old items..

The best solution for unclogging the shops is mass retirement.

There has been a lot of good feedback in this thread! We've explained custom items a bunch of times, which I'll do again if a suggestion thread is made - we just don't have the time to do it like we did before, and there were so many problems with it before. It became the thing most of our artists were working on most of the time - and there were rules that people slyly slipped through, getting items that were not allowed by the rules (super personal things, items of pets, etc) through. I have no intention of bringing custom items back again.

Some awesome (I hope) restocking changes are being planned though, and some other great feedback from the survey :)

[edit]

We (the staff) agree on quality vs quantity, by the way. Unfortunately it hasn't seemed like that is what users want a lot of times, because of collection achievements. We're totally tuned into this feedback though, and that is why we've been trying to release more items via other routes (quest shops are a good example, forum shop, etc - places that items are unique and really well drawn!) vs the typical toss a bunch of items into the clothing rack.

Should still be a bunch of basic stuff released in main shops because I'm not using 6 quest points to buy a Cherry Ruffie Plushie, SORRY.

On the topic of restocking, I really hate the idea of making it so restocking is pointless. It has been my favorite way to earn sP since I joined. I get that not many people do RS compared to other things, but it seems a bit ridiculous to pretty much get rid of the option just because of that.

I'm not against changes, but I'd hate the idea of having limited restock time or making it so sporadic that it would take hours to actually get something. At that point it would be just like Neo. If I wanted to spend hours trying to just get 1 item to make a profit on I'd just go back to Neo and start refreshing magic (those were some dark, dark days.)

And maybe there isn't many people out there that will RS an item that can only make a 10k profit, but you get enough of them it can add up. Plus I've been able to get items cheaper then in user's shops to stick in pet's TCs. Excluding my pets, I'm pretty damn attached to RSing on here. It's something I legitimately enjoy and would honestly hate to see it gone.

Anyway, it's bed time for me. I'm sure I'll sign on to 20 more pages in the morning, but I think we've got a lot of good feedback from this thread!

[edit]

To recap - we aren't getting rid of restocking. I'm more excited about other venues of releasing items, but I think that we can make restocking exciting by changing up the methods, clearing out items algorithmically instead of making it and 's job to monitor thousands of items and figure out when to take items in/out of the shops. If we can remove items for a period of time while they regain value (or at least get used up in quests) before being put back in, that'd be awesome.

We want more quality vs quantity and we've had trouble with that in the past (there are people who DO WANT 50 shades of the same skirt for wardrobe collector achievements, or for whatever other reason. We're sympathetic to the monster we've created with the collection/till/fill up shop/etc achievements) but are working on it :)

That is what I'd like most to happen, I am interested in newer methods, but overall I would like to keep restocking in shops, as that's what I personally like to do. I would be lost on this site if I couldn't restock when I get bored doing whatever else.

I know I'm late to the thread, but...

NO NO NO NO to "doing away" with restocking. I'm happy to see willingness to compromise here, though. More than I can say for a lot of other sites.

I spent a lot of time over the years coming up with my own restocking strategy, though, so maybe I'm biased. Idk. Restocking is so much fun to me. I do it to unwind while/before writing papers, and I remember one of the first things I fell in love with here was not having to refresh for an hour or more in a shop just to make a 1K profit (like on Neo).

I don't restock or really give much of a crap about economics but wow, do not get rid of restocking altogether. It's a way to get cheap items, make money, and it impacts way too much of the site to remove without a complete overhaul of everything that makes Subeta Subeta and not, for example, FR. (Which is a pet site I did not enjoy, for the record.)

Also I was really hoping there would be a revamp of the Atebus Shop and its stock rather than getting rid of it! I love the theme of the shop and at least some of the items and I've been hoping and praying for the last ~two years that we'd be blessed with a windfall of amazing space/cyberpunk/sci-fi/futuristic items. Like there are tons of different sci-fi aesthetics that could be used (not just for wearables, though admittedly that's what I'm Here For) and tons of items that could be made. I love steampunk, but sometimes I want to be Star Trek, you feel me?

And putting the items in Stargazer's prize pool is ridiculous. Do you know how often I play Stargazer? I played it once. When I first joined. Nearly three years ago. And I'd bet that most of the site doesn't play it either. So that revamp better be really hardcore (and change it so it's not luck-based).

I disagree with removing Quentin's quests. I do them almost daily purely for the occasional rare item but definitely for a chance to get a Mage Amulet in the hopes of getting a Tome from the Mage to up the stats on my battle pets. However, I totally agree with getting rid of Cynthia, Mori/Nori, and maybe even Sarah and Pete.

Also, going on from your original post, it saddens me to see so many lovely newer wearables that you can't match with older items because the colours of those older items are so bland and lifeless. Also, there's a huge issue with colours not being the same shades....blues all being different, and the same for pinks, reds, greens and so on through the entire spectrum. If we have to put up with all these new wearables, then how about maybe getting rid of all the obsolete stuff that you can't wear with anything anymore :/

not meaning to sound rude, but it's all good and fine to put up a feedback survey on restocking, but you really haven't given people much of a chance to really say anything or provide proper feedback on all aspects of the restocking experience.

That was a rhetorical example I used to point to Keith that his logic that "only 20% of the users use this" makes no sense.

There is also 0 reason to get rid of Sarah, as she serves a purpose as the official newbie NPC.
