im definitely on board for this. i was gonna write out a huge ass post on how i understood it but in that time it seems Cathii explained it in simple terms. im definitely up for it. id also sort of avoid adding that sort of sp sale in the CW shop unless the users themselves wanted it i guess?

i would also really love to see some older skins/hair styles from before I even heard of subeta to be allowed to be bought for another SP sink as others have mentioned.

I think you're assuming we're going to make these much cheaper than the CSC prices, which isn't the case. We'd make them a little bit more fair (since you wouldn't have full "use" of the item).

Also I made sure to use the term flash because these wouldn't be permanent options. You'd see that today this one pair of shoes we'd decided weren't really selling that well in CSC but we still want people to use them is on sale for x sP and you have until the end of the day to buy it in sP and it could never come around again :)

I get the whole point, but I don't really like it because of the fact that it'll be harder for users to sell the item

Want that awesome CW or CS item? Now you can just use sP and bind it to your account which means you dont ever need to buy CSC again which means CSC inflation goes through the roof, cw creators have no incentive to ever out another item in our shiny new shops or make anything unlimited (because how will we manage to sell them and if I&;m spending upwards of $50 to not only commission an item but then also get it on site I definitely don&;t want someone to pay some set amount of sP to the site to be able to get it so that I get back 0 of what I spent getting it on here).

And before anyone can chime in with "you shouldn&;t be expexcting to get rich off CWs blah blah" I don&;t. I&;m lucky if I break even most of the time, so if anyone can buy them for less than my shop there is no reason for me to continue pumping money into the site.

Because this is the truth, even for artists. If CWs ever got discounted further, people would stop making items / unlimited items at all; tbh I think it will hurt CS items too, which is relevant because this is how the site makes money.

1. If things are being re-released it&;s going to 100% effect the people who paid a lot or earned a thing regardless. Most users only have a thing to wear (if it&;s wearable, and unless it&;s an uber weapon, so it doesn&;t really matter if someone can&;t remove it from their wardrobe or not... whatever it&;s sold for will become the price of the itwm across the board because "pft why would I pay 50m for this when I can just buy the locked one for 5m? "

This made me think of how people used to save for the whole year until things became available in the Black Friday sale. Even if the sp "discounted" sales weren't permanent, people would wait for them and that would hurt csc business as I see it. It just gets clear that csc items sold for sp in an official way would hurt the business, maybe unless it was already an intangible item (that couldn't ever get resold anyway). I could see it somewhat working out with people getting allowed to submit pet overlays for sp in special/non defined occasions, as people who would save up and wait for those are likely to be the ones who'd buy csc with sp, but even then it's not the ideal situation.

4. I would not mind this if it was utilized for new things going forward, strictly wearables without items or other uses they&;re literally just wears.
My thoughts exactly.

Even with 's clearer definition of how you envision this working, I'm not happy about the idea.

When CWs were first proposed, many issues were brought up by users that we were assured would never happen. Yet they did. So I'm really not sanguine about being "assured" that you only plan to use the system in this one way.

Once you program in the functionality of locking things into the wardrobe, the temptation to use the new system in ways the user base is very uneasy about is going to happen.

Setting up something like this for existing collections would be okay, because those are already locked in place. Having a pirate/islander collectibles sale where items are sold directly to, say the plushie collection, without the chance to buy the item to later resell could work well.

I really don't like the idea for the wardrobe, which is already messy enough as it is, without the added hassle of trying to figure out if an item is "locked" or freely available.

But the csc bit could go both ways-- if something is 250csc for the whole item, or 15m for the locked version, then the cost of 250csc could potentially be set at 16m+ because the locked version is worth x so clearly csc is worth more.

It might not cause a problem if it's short term, but depending on how desirable the item is... well, look at what "the last BF these things will be half-off" did to the price of csc x:

I mean I think the concept definitely has potential don't get me wrong, I'd just like to see it apply to new things I guess? Or non-item redeemable stuff (hair salon for eyes please).

I definitely do not like this idea. I barely ever use the wardrobe, and would really hate to miss out on a "release" of old items that I could use for pet treasures or galleries just because they are locked wardrobe items. :(

Nevermind, I didn't see the summary on the first post and also didn't want to go through 9 pages... as long as there is an option for people who don't use the wardrobe... IDK... I guess it's ok?

No. Because one of the things I like about Subeta is that if I put in effort (participating or earning sP) I can own any item on site with a bit of luck.
doing this means that some things will be 100% off limits and you will never have a chance in hell of owning them.

Quote by VODKA
Not a fan.
Sometimes I&;m not around to participate in events which means there will be items I&;ll never be able to get ahold of if they&;re locked in the inventory and not available to be sold.
I feel like it leaves out players who don&;t always have the time to be here.

I see what you are saying about trying to balance out the CSC/sP ratio a bit but that would only do so for those specific items that are designated for this feature. Either way I feel there has to be a better way to do this.

Maybe you may want to put your post from page 4 into your first post, it seems different from what I had read in the OP...

Unless these said "locked" items are available to get MORE THAN once and for optional methods of "payment" then 100% no.

Also I saw it was mentioned and I wanted to +1 I really feel the issues and kinks of the wardrobe and the site should really be addressed BEFORE more things are "added" to the site.

I'm still confused. I kinda get what's being said but I don't really get why it's useful exactly.

I like being able to put things in and out. There are some super rare things I've liked for a while but decided to gift to friends instead. I like being able to do that.

I can get why skins or make up of sorts or certain kinds of items might be best stuck, but not totally sure why if it CAN be purchased for a TC, for example and then sold with one currency what the difference is if buying it with another currency makes it wardrobe only.

Possibly not understanding still. I'm a bit sleep deprived. :)

Not too thrilled. The flash sale sounds ok, but I like the idea of completely owning my items. To make them unavailable for me to do what I want with them seems counter-intuitive to ownership.

That being said I still appreciate that you are looking for new ways to do things and better ways to make the site move faster/better.

Basically, what do you think of locked items in the wardrobe, that you can not remove. Items from doing various things on the site that act sort of like the bases - items that you cannot remove from the wardrobe but can add to your avatar any time. It&;d give us more freedom to make things that are old / hard to find / can be turned into the pawn shop for CSC purchasable with other currencies without deflating the value of the item.

Another example: Like having a flash sale on some CS items where you buy them for tons of sP instead of csc - but they go directly into your wardrobe and cant be taken out, so you cant sell them for CSC a week later (or in the case of CWs just pawn them a week later).

Quote
Option two: you buy it at a discounted sp price for wardrobe purposes, and it becomes locked so that the discount doesn&;t turn into a profit a week later

The purpose of locking items would be to create a sp sink that allows users to purchase various items at discounted price if they were going to serve as wardrobe purposes anyway, while still allowing them to purchase the items via other means.

PLEASE. I WOULD LOVE THIS SO MUCH.

I like the idea of this being done with new items, maybe? But I've seen a few other people express concern over the fact that if you do it with items that are old / not being sold anymore, it'll be harder for people to sell those if they go on sale now (I hope I'm making sense).

I think it's great, just maybe stick to new items?

This is an amusing idea and if Subeta was all about the fun it'd be grand. It needs to be modified though to exclude CSC items. Subeta alas must also be about the cash ducats necessary for running the site and paying staff, which in this case is USD->CSC. Bad currency chases out the good. Strategically and economically it's a financial blow to the site since sP doesn't do anything to keep all y'all running unless the increased amount of sP-only or sP-mostly users creates enough ad revenue to make up for the loss in real life currency. Each individual item offered up this way is a tiny fly bite but overall the bites will tell.

Items that were purchaseable via sP or earnable via site event? Those are totally fine by me. I've been around for nearly eight years, but I doubt your average user is that sticky. There's nothing sainted or special about the sP I spent years ago and there's no personal merit accruing to my soul just because I was around for the original Survival and the Councilor's Cruise. I did those for FUN. Some users feel that their fun involves going neener-neener-neener to those who are new. Fuck that. This is one of the things about Neopets that makes it craptastic. (I say this even with all the years-old crap in my hoardshop making me wealthy.)

I like the idea for collections, not for the wardrobe. People can't sell custom plushies or beanbags, but people can sell wardrobe items that will be insanely devalued if they're available as locked items. Even if one CW is sold once as a locked item, everyone who wants that CW might end up buying it in that sale, and the person who created it won't get anything until there are enough new players who want the item and can afford it. I just don't like the idea of taking away control of a person's item.

(Forgive me if this has been debated already, I don't have time to read all the pages.)
