I have noticed that too! Has anyone else had this issue? I used to get good items more than junk but now it seems that all I get is cheap useless items, and I NEVER get more than one ;-;
So I don't care about the body-type revamp--the art is always beautiful and the artists have, once again, proven that they're amazing.
What I care about is that ever since the revamp, I haven't gotten a single statbooster or item of value from completing Shinwa's quests...I also haven't gotten more than 1 item like I used to. I feel like her quests aren't even worth doing anymore and I'm sad.
The more I look at 's version, the more I think the revamped Shinwa looks like a racist caricature of an Asian woman.
Just adding my 2 cents here. Shinwas needed an update. I would like a more adult-like look. I LOVE Deyra's tweeks. Thank you arteests!
Artistically, it looks great. Great lines, great coloring, great shading, beautiful details etc. But proportionately...Her face is so big. It's not bad, it just looks off..Like her cheeks are forcing her eyes to squint, they're so swollen looking. :C
I miss the solid tattoos. There's something "off" about her face. I don't think she's unattractive because her face is chubby, but I do think the face is too chubby for her body type. Just... Not attractive to me. It's not the face of a goddess. The artist is obviously quite talented, I like all other aspects (except the tats) but that face... Maybe something closer to the September card image revamp?
Change is always rough for me, but I'm really disappointed in this revamp. I love the body, the outfit, lighting, etc., but she's just not pretty (to me), anymore. She used to be one of my favorite NPC's. I thought she used to be beautiful. Sigh
But oh yeah buff as aside, which is basically all I like here, I hate the face. Lie sure she and amy should look alike, but not with the same age. She looks like a dumb kid. In the changes some users made at least she looks like s dumb teenager instead of a dumb kid, so it's better. The face looks silly. And honestly I prefer the solid tattoos over these

Welp, I like it (and for that matter, all the other re-vamps that have happened lately! The Subeta artists are on a roll!)
So was Charity's old image a goddess? Or old Laurie, Isobel, Kelly, old Lindsay, Rose, Tae, Tiffanie. or Virelai? Shinwa may have looked different from Human before, but she looked no different from the majority of Subeta NPCs. And if Anime look + skinny is enough to be a god/goddess to you, it doesn't seem like a very exclusive club at all, which seems to be your main point as to why it's goddess like.
And I never said you preferred old Boobs on a stick Shinwa simply because she was boobs on a stick. I was merely referring to the old image and your preference for it.
I don't have a problem with the arms or anything, just the face. I'm a portrait artiest myself, and this... something looks wrong with the anatomy. She can be chubby/real (and people she really is chubby. Even if you say you love the update, and she's not- her face is. It really is.) Her arms are chubby, her face is chubby, that's more human- So fine, but they went overboard on the face.
No. Just. No. The artiest did a good job with nice colors and clean lines. But the design is... not preferable. It doesn't look like a goddess any more, she looks like a normal person and that alone is bad enough (Because she is a, what? A GODDESS). They need to stop worrying about the standards of beauty and go back closer to the original designs because this- and even the Oracle now? No. The oracle looks like a sad puppy. =( I don't care about the size or shape of their breasts or even the look they have now, just that they showed us two characters that we all liked then BAM changed it. =( Like, they got plastic surgery but they went the other way with it. AGAIN I'm not disappointed that they look the way they do, just that the creators changed them so drastically and pulled about 90% away from the original design. =(

[Edit]: And before you are implying/assuming again I would prefer "boobs on a stick" again ", let me tell you that to me Yumiko looks the most godlike to me at the moment. She looks like one of the Moirai/the Fates (at least to me). She reminds me of Atropos. And I like it a lot! And she isn´t "boobs on a stick" either. I can believe her to be godlike (even if she isn´t).
I tried to explain why people might look at her and don´t see a goddess anymore. I tried to explain that diveness comes from being different to normal human standards. It doesn´t matter if Maleria´s skin/ears/wings are natural. She LOOKS different enough to a human that you can percieve her as a goddess, that you can believe her to be not human. Same goes for the mage. The wizard doesn´t look godlike to me either. As you said he looks like a plain old man (with questionable clothing style).
When it is said a NPC is a god/goddess you search for features that you may call godlike, features that are different enough to your own, features the majority of people do not have. And with Shinwa there weren´t much goldlike features to begin with. In Shinwa´s case it was her body that was not a normal standard. The anime style helped extremly because it creates big differences to human body standards.
As many users stated "she looks more like a real woman now". She looks common. She looks like a woman you may meet on the street going to shop for her dinner. Without the clothes you wouldn´t recognize or even notice her on the street.
Wow, Shinwa really needed a revamp but.... This isn't good. Why is her head as wide as her entire chest, and wider than either her waist or her hips? (No, I'm not counting the pigtails.) Why's she so... jowly? It' like she's got mumps. As usual, the pupils/eyes don't line up. The hair and clothes look fabulous, but her arms and head are totally out of proportion with the rest of her body. Why? Why? Why? It's so frustrating, because I want to like it. It's like the artist made a plus-size Shinwa (which would be fine, btw), was told that was a no-go and to redraw it, and only redrew the torso. It looks like Shinwa is either in a fun-house mirror, or is cobbled together from at least two different people.
I don't want to say I don't like her new look... but I really don't like her new look. :(
But her markings are part of her skin? You're using a double standard. We presume Maleria's pigmentation is natural, but we don't technically know. Technically we don't know about Shinwa's either, really. We use tattoo in part because of the item, but that's the item to allow users to dress up as her. Of course it's a (temporary) tattoo for us.
So they both have different skin. Maleria has different ears and wings on top of it. Shinwa never had wings before, yet she was a goddess to you before. So clearly, the wings aren't that important. Maleria isn't Boobs McGee, but her figure is acceptable as a goddess. The Element Mage and the Wizard aren't quite Goddess(es), but they are both fairly powerful beings. One looks like a heap of trash and rotting flesh and the other looks like a plain old man. They're both bueno. The Oracle too. One wing (that we don't even -technically- know is actually attached to her, and really that goes for Maleria too) and she's cool.
Additionally, old Shinwa looked almost exactly like all the other old NPCs drawn by the same artist, in the same style. Some of them were even wearing baggier clothing, so for all we know they were Boobs McGee underneath too. Were they all Goddesses?? I mean they had the bodytype and apparently that's the only requirement so long as they're white and human looking.
If you miss/prefer Boobs on a stick just say so. But don't try to apply SuperSpeshulShinwaOnlyGoddess rules that just don't hold up at all.

I...I really like her! As soon as I saw the image I knew there was going to be a shitstorm in the comments, but I really like her face; it has so much character and she looks so fun - coupled with her hairstyle she really reminds me of Sailor Moon, which is as good a place to as any to get inspiration for this sort of girl goddess character.
I preferred her markings being solid pink stripes since, as others have said, the patterns look like a rash, and I think the feathers look really unrealistic in terms of texture and shading. Other than that though, I think she looks fine.

Not really. Skin and ears (and wings) belong to the body. They make Maleria not human. The clothes, the hair and the markings on Shinwa make her another culture at best. Her divineness came from her beauty, that her body was not ordinary (does not mean I liked the old version) in comparison to the "normal" bodytype of a standard woman. She differed because of her thin figure and her extremly big (not real looking) breasts (again: does not mean I liked it). A god/goddess differs from humans, that´s why they are gods/goddesses.
But those are most of her features, lol. If you take away Maleria's skin color, ears, and clothing she's really normal/plain too.
Sorry I didn't see this earlier, but thanks for saying that. Disliking the revamp is totally fine. Thinking the anatomy is weird is totally fine. You can even think she's not beautiful, but it would be kinda poopy to do so only because she had a skin condition c: Clearly not where you meant to coming from so we're all good, no comment on the rest.

I think that´s the problem when users say, she wouldn´t look like a goddess anymore. She looks ordinary. Like you said, she has a conventional body type now, nothing special. She looks (except her markings, clothes and hair) like the girl from next door.
She doesn't even have an unconventional body type. Her arm is at an odd angle and she's kind of cheeky. That's it. Look at her waist, quite thin. Can we stop trying to make this revamp something more than it is?
The proportions, especially head to body are just too "off" to me. I really liked the old NPC revamp style- Esther, Emma, and Blake come to mind.
I have never been so thoroughly disappointed in the Subeta community. First of all, being outright disrespectful towards artists is not synonymous with "critique" in any way. Secondly, the fact that a woman's body proportions are causing this much of a commotion in the first place is absolutely terrifying to me. 510 comments? On a revamp? I've hardly seen people get this angry about major site changes. But because an artist makes the decision to change the body shape of a character into something that isn't conventional, everyone throws a fit. I'm not saying that a thinner figure is any "less" of a woman or that thinner figures should not be represented. All figures should be! But the fact that you are all obsessing over the weight of a cartoon character on a virtual pet website is (rather thinly veiled) misogyny and is quite upsetting to me. Also, the idea that a goddess has to fit an archetypal body type to be powerful... lol. Please.
Besides all of the other stuff, the art style is lovely! And the outfit is nice too. I like how the art is going into a more cartoon/realistic like style and moving away from anime. I love anime styles but this is pretty nice too c:

I'm not trying to be mean or anything...But, I hate the new look of her. Like everyone else is saying, her proportions are awful and this look doesn't suit her at all. It is an extreme change compared to her original look. I am fine with change, I really am...but this is something even I can't handle. Not only as an artist but as a perfectionist too...I feel like I need to fix it and make it right ; v ;
It's fine having characters that are a little chubby, everyone is different anyways. But, as a Goddess...this doesn't suit her at all. Also, it looks like you were trying to do a certain thing and then just gave up with the rest of her body :c

I get that you’re trying to move away from "traditional" beauty standards with all these new revamps but why does every one of them have to be unappealing? Why do they all have to be chubby and/or have some weird unlikable feature? The art itself is really well done of course, it's the designs I have a problem with. Poor Shinwa. Poor Oracle. Poor Maleria. R.I.P. girls.

I've had some amusing 15 minutes now readin through these comments, and I must say that I agree with the ones claimin that, while the new art is DEFINITELY an improvement [lovin that they're leavin anime-style behind] I was also taken back by the style the artist choose. I was introduced to Shinwa as a thin, busty woman and now I am re-introduced to a round-faced, short-shouldered, smaller version; Of course I would frown upon it, its out of the vision I had of the character's physical appearance.
I`m from perhaps the country that has the most diversity throughout the world and I don't agree with the ones saying 'OMG SHE LOOKS LIKE A REAL WOMAN NOW.' Dearests, no matter if they're busty, thin, short-necked or round-faced, there are women and people of all shapes and sizes! Saying that she's more realistic just because she seemed to have gained weight is not right. I'm not saying her anime-style was realistic, in any way, but while I found that the round face and cute nose really suit the Oracle, I don't think they suit Shinwa - in the physical vision I had of her - at all.

I don't like it. It doesn't look like the same Shinwa :( I love 's changes. It managed to keep the same character as the original.
I'm going to preface this with that I know my comment may be mean, I don't need 100 pings calling me out on it. No. Just... no. Redo it, re-revamp it. Her face is SO out of place compared to the rest of her body. It's like you decided you wanted her to be chubby, then gave up half-way. Her face looks like it was transmorgified from a bloody pig.
How on Subeta can you look at that and be happy with it? Fix it.
I don't like it. I don't know how to leave criticism on it without being mean and "bashing" things that, in general, aren't bad things but as a change to Shinwa herself I don't like. Such as...she looks super chubby? Again, not a 'bad' thing in general but Shinwa isn't previously and I don't like it being added to her? I preferred the bold, solid lines that made her markings. The new designs added in make it look more like a rash to me. Her right arm, the one bent out away from her, looks disproportionately muscular in contrast to her left arm. Maybe the hair placement. Speaking of her hair - that part I DO like. It's fabulous and I like the dangling ties in it. I have to be honest and say I much prefer the edit that has done to her face. Shinwa just always seemed very girly with makeup and, I dunno...
I literally only added upper eyelashes, which are things that grow out of your face. (lol that makes it sound like chin hair but it's too funny I'm not rephrasing it)
It's not necessary. But there's nothing wrong with wearing makeup. I know nothing about subeta lore, but from what I've seen here a lot of people say she's supposed to be vain and girly. So... Usually vain and girly people like to wear makeup. Also, she doesn't even have lashes on the original pic. What most people did was simply add some lashes and some eyeliner
