Oh. Something looks... Off. Her head is too large and wide for her frame, but her arms aren't? Its awkward. I do really like the newly added detail to her hair ornaments and her tattoos though.

I think I've pinpointed what I find off about her bangs/jawline - it's that in addition to the hair along the sides of her face, the feather she's holding covers up most of her neck, and that makes her seem a bit "off" as folks have mentioned. I do like it overall, just could use seeing her neck. Necks are important.
Honestly, it's a nice piece of artwork, but I'm not fond of the revamp. My main problem is that the arms seem disproportionately thick and her head too large and wide compared to the rest of her body. I really can't tell if the artist was going for more cherubic or more "feminine-but-buff", and that's off-putting. I know that there is a push to try and define a new unique visual style for the site, but...well, it seems like things are kind of hit-or-miss right now...
I don't care if she is fat or whatever. I don't even care that much that she is not beautiful. Esther is chubby and she looks amazing. Kuwabara (a more recent design) is quite round but she also look amazing.
Shinwa is now simply creepy and anatomically distorted! Shinwa lost all traits that made her recognizable. Might as well just say she changed her appearance or create a new NPC. It's more of a cosplayer than a real deal. This is barely a revamp.
Details mean nothing if the final product is weak. Just because she is now much more detailed, it does not mean it is better. It is sad that, somehow, it seems that less defined breasts are nowadays considered "better" (though balloon boobies are indeed yucky), ignoring all else.
I wish we could have anther Esther quality revamp.
tl;dr Very disappointing.
First thought: -She scares me! ... not sure if i wanna do any Shinwa Quests now anymore ;n; ((And no, can't figgure out why i exacly get that feeling... probably 'cause of the heads proportions?? The twisted arm?)) Not only 'first' tho. That lingering feeling that something just is just... off... with Shinwa sticks. Sadly. :/

Sorry, as much as I appreciate the artists, this one is a total miss. Why must you change something that was already pretty? It's not like she got prettier, 'cos, no. She didn't.
Overall the revamp is very nice. There are two things however that are really bothering me.
Her right arm (the one on the hip) doesn’t look quite right. Maybe it should be a little smaller because it’s farther back than the other arm?
The biggest thing for me though is the back of her head. Look on the right side of her head (our right side) just below her ear. I think the artist should have extended the line that’s supposed to be her hair coming up into the ponytail a little farther down. Having it line up with the line of her jaw would probably stop her head from looking so misshapen to me. You can see how it matches up better on the avatar image in this news post.
I love her outfit though.
After looking at this again, I wonder if it'd help if her hips were somewhat bigger, to match the proportions of her arms? It wouldn't be a huge change, and it might also balance out her head size a little. Maybe. (Granted, this is coming from a non-artist who didn't even notice there was anything funny with her proportions/anatomy in the first place until a bunch of people mentioned it, lol.)
The Shinwa revamp looks like a grown up Amy. for me, creepy actually. I prefer the previous one. What about the old adage "if it ain't broke, why fix it?"

For the last time it's not that they're not Barbie dolls, it's that they're wildly anatomically wrong.
Facial differences come from FEATURES, the actual PROPORTIONS should only differ very slightly, if at all, between different people. Things like the eyes being too far apart, head/shoulder ratio being off all register as 'ugly' because they're proportionally wrong for a human being, not because we're evil and judgmental. Some of y'all really just don't get it.
You know, it's not like there's any shortage of Barbie doll-ish anime characters anywhere else, if this bothers people that much... I personally think the new art's great, and OH MAN does this mean the Shinwa Wig's gonna get revamped to match how her hair looks now??? :D

Shinwa definitely needed an update. I will agree that her face looks a little off, but everything else seems fine to me. Also, will some of the older Shinwa items be getting an update as well?

Hopefully none overeating like me or overeating like me and purging. The last thing we need is more young girls like I did when I was young having body image issues. Not only girls, but guys, especially gay guys have body image issues. So why don't we have people of all colors, sizes, ages and all other things. Let's celebrate diversity. Now I would never advise anyone to just let their weight go like mine. I will tell you this boughts with fad diets, bulimia, anorexia and all this fun stuff wrecked my metabolism. It was a shock at first, but once I kept looking at her, I find that I actually really like this revamp. I do agree her head seems a little big.

I dunno what you did to Shinwa, but she looks worse in your "fixed" example than she does in the official art. She just needs makeup. the rest is fine. So many NPCs are being revamped without makeup and they really need it

I love this revamp but I have to agree with some of the comments on her proportions, her hands are just slightly to large and her head is way to big for her body, other then that im liking this new Shinwa :)
I don't like the revamp :( The colouration is really good, but her proportions are really off. Her head and arms, hands are too big compared to the rest of her body. I don't say she has to be skinny, but the rest of her body should be a bit bigger too to match the rest. Can't explain everything so I drew it instead :) and no offence to the artist, he/she did overall a really nice job!!

Canon Shinwa isn't the amazing protective cool goddess Fanon Shinwa thought she was. Protective Cool is pretty much the Oracle. (Whose revamp was also met with BAH, IT'S MORE REALISTIC, SO IT SUCKS)
What is unacceptable, is people thinking that because she has more realistic features(even if it's not perfect), it is the worst-piece-of-art-that-has-ever graced the site and Subeta-only-caters-to-people-with-a-turkey-leg-in-each-hand.
My body shape was pretty damn close to that Shinwa revamp when I was younger(Only difference was that my wips were wider), so you literally just admitted that my body is the grossest thing you could have laid eyes upon? Like, wow. No. No, you just didn't go there.
Also, I wasn't plus sized when I had that body shape, I wore pretty much size 7. Size 7 isn't plus size. So, I'm bothered when people refer to Shinwa as being plus-sized

I just feel horrible people have an issue with her weight, my god it's a NPC on a website. The art surely isn't bad, anatomically correct? Probably not..but better than I can ever imagine doing - so I'm not gonna complain. Do I personally like the character? No, do i have any problem with it? No? Thanks for the revamp..that's the point.
I love the new Shinwa! The details in her tattoos and clothes are brilliant, and I love the new plump body. She has so much more personality now and I think it shines through in her pose and expression, but there are some definite tweaks needed.
Her shoulders are a bit too big for her small waist, and her arms could probably use a 'softer' touch - right now they look hard and muscular, adding a bit of plumpness to her upper arm would soften that up. Her head also seems a bit too big for the rest of her body. I think her eyes need to be a bit bigger and closer together. I like this expression, but I feel like she would look better with a more mature beauty; I think making her eyes a bit more round would help. I like her round little nose, but perhaps add some more definition and laugh lines so her smile doesn't seem so isolated?
Anyway, great job to the artist - I love that Subeta have such diverse NPCs! I think with a few tweaks this revamp will be perfect.
