This board is for anyone who used to (or still does) play on Neopets, specifically from the LiveJournal group Neopian_Adults. But anyone is welcome to join and chat! I don't play on Neo myself anymore, but I was a HUGE player for a number of years. This is where we can compare the sites (Subeta is soooooooo much better!) and talk about what we miss about Neo, what we prefer about Subeta. But mostly, this is where a likeminded group of people can chat about the current goings-on of Subeta, our current goals, and also our personal lives. No topic is off, so get chatting!

I'll get us started:

After moving to South Korea 3 years ago, I stopped playing Neopets completely, after a few years of only checking in once in a while. I was worried that my account would be deleted and had forgotten my password, but luckily I figured it out a couple of months ago, and my account (with it's hundreds of dollars in NC items!) is still fully intact. It was nice to see my pets and my old guild! I'd like to keep my account active but I'm pretty happy with my switch to Subeta a few years ago. I thought maybe it would be a temporary salve, but I think I'm definitely here for good now!

How did you guys do on the last battle plot with the jellies? I only got 75,000 worth of damage against the big bad, but I got some achievements otherwise. It was my first Jelly War! It got me to upgrade my weapons (my pet is tier 9 now) and reading up on scrolls and potions and such. I'd love to chat battle strategies if someone else here battles too!

Are you guys enjoying the birthday celebrations so far? I am! It's kind of overwhelming, but the variety is nice. I submitted a cake to the baking contest but didn't win. It tasted delicious though!

How are you guys doing, Subeta and RL-wise?

Yay, new thread! I've also pretty much completely stopped playing Neo. Not that I've played much over the past couple years. Now that they're shutting down Habitarium, I have even less reason to go back. :( I did finish the recent logic puzzle they had, but that was more because I love logic puzzles than because I wanted the prizes.

I like to think of myself as a battler, so if you have any questions, just ask me! I got over 6 million damage in on the Hydra and got a Core out of it. :D

I'm a former Neo player; sadly, I accepted a pet in trade that apparently had been stolen, and I got frozen. I sent repeated tickets to them, but never even received one answer, so I left. I had played over 9 years with them. But, I love this site. I only fought the smaller jellies, I was hesitant about taking the bigger guys on. I've only been on here since June. I love that when I send a ticket or have a problem, I get such quick responses. And I love that I can talk to adults on here without walking on egg shells. :D

I'm barely hanging on to Neo. I don't even do most of my dailies anymore, I collect my bank interest, monthly freebies, and that's about it lol. Though I always take part in events when they happen. I was dumb and forgot my Premium membership auto-renewed in August, so I'm stuck there for another year, but I'm definitely going to cancel premium next year. It's ridiculous to pay $50 for something I don't even play anymore.

For those of you that still play, how do you feel about the upcoming changes? I was never into Petpet Park (I did have an account but I haven't logged in in years) and I stopped playing Hab a while ago... it just got too tedious with the upkeep and it was too glitchy. It made me a lot of money, but I won't really be sorry to see it go.

As for the gelatin war... man, I couldn't land one hit on that stupid thing. My battle pet is only tier 4, because I'm super lazy (also good weapons are too expensive), but I've been training him a bit recently since I have some csc lying around. I realized that it wouldn't kill me to buy csc with sp a little bit now and then, though I'm really trying to save up for art and wearables.

The birthday thing... well... shrugs I'm just like, yay achievements I'll never get and clothes I'll never wear x10000000... but it's nice to have something going on. I'm liking the free stuff from Elwood, though... does anyone know if that's something you can do more than once, or is it a one-time thing?

My real life is the same, I have the same crap job but at least the Back to School season is over. I watch a lot of anime and Rooster Teeth, and that's about it. Oh, but I am going to visit home in November, so at least I have something to look forward to. ^^

I'm only managed to defeat 10 of the golems in jelly war, hopefully my pet would be much stronger the next war. Didn't bother with the hydra, I don't like losing ;-; However I love battling here, much more fun than the glitchy neo beta dome. Also I'm pretty sad about the shutting down of habbi. My sister and I used to spend a lot of time there and it is sad to think that it will be all gone soon. Not to mention, I did spend real money decorating my habbi e.x I screenshotted everything though, to keep as memory.

They're shutting down Habitarium? :( Aww. Actually, when I did log on a couple of months ago, it was Easter and I did most of the Easter event (collecting eggs). It reminded me how much I prefer Subeta, since every prize was junky and worth so little. We get nice prizes on Subeta! Even if we do complain sometimes, we get treated really well here.

I'd love to pick your brain! I had gotten in to the battle part of Subeta here and there before, but that was before they changed everything and added tiers and such. Now that my pet is a much higher level than before and can actually fight hard and very hard challengers, I'm finding I need to upgrade my weapons and scrolls and such, and it's EXPENSIVE. I've bought quite a few things, but I'll have to start selling off stuff if I'm to keep going, I think!

My current weapon set is: Item Hunters Bomb (which I LOVE), Recycle Blaster, Soma Tablets, The One Ring, Rapier of Error, Shinwas Heart Pendant, and Twisted Rift Blade.

I also have the Purple Spider Squeaky Toy, but had to ditch it when I got Shinwas Heart Pendant since they're both healers. Do you know which one is better? They seem similar to me. I wanted to buy something in the Cash Shop but didn't realize I'd have to ditch one of my other investments. Oops!

I just discovered last night that potions and pylonics add a whole new layer to the weapons you can use in battle. They add up since they're one use, but they really helped me out last night!

Here are my new scrolls: Basalt Blast, Almighty Squall, Cobalt Eternal, Arctic Braver, and Soothing Current. I really like Soothing Current (a shield) since it's one one use per battle. Can you recommend any other scrolls that are multiple use and preferably don't cost more than a few million? Thanks!

The lack of egg shells is what attracted me in the first place! SO REFRESHING after years of Neo bullcrap!! Haha. I'm sorry you were frozen and didn't even get a fair hearing. :( I like that the Subeta staff is more responsive, too. I know friends who've been frozen here, but at least they know exactly why.

Eep! I'm sorry you were charged for another year on Neo. :( I still pay for LiveJournal, but at least I use that occasionally, and it's not that expensive anyway.

The Free Gift is a one-time thing for each new gift. I wish it was more! The new gift is lovely.

Screenshotting is a good idea. I kind of wish I'd done that more! It may seem silly, but I have a LOT of fond memories of Neo and Subeta, and screenshotting is a good way of keeping those memories. :)

I bought a permanent account on LJ several years ago, so I'm gonna be there until the site itself is deleted lol. Oh, so... everyone got the same free gift? I thought it was random what you got, because he said "miscellany"... but I guess that meant he'll be releasing more as time goes on?

Ugh, I'm sorry you got frozen for something that wasn't your fault. Neo is terrible about that, and terrible about communication with its users. They just don't listen to reason.

I wish I'd made screenshots when I had my hab all fixed up! The only screenshots I have are from when it was glitching lol. I think I only bought a couple of the NC things, luckily... the background with the rainbow and the fountain decoration, I think. Then I realized that too many decorations just slowed it down, so I went barebones.

I was wondering about that myself! From the comments it sounds like everyone got the same thing, and that's usually how the free gift works. But maybe today is special and it will change later? When I tried to go back just now, though, it said "You've already received your free gift." Maybe more will be released later in the day. That would be awesome!

Ahh, a permanent account. I kind of wish I'd done that -- it definitely would have paid for itself by now! I'm only paying $30 a year, though, and I have access to a group to download TV shows, so I figure that's worth it. I do want to start posting more, though, if only because it's such a unique form of writing I can share there -- stream of consciousness with a sympathetic audience (so, pretty much the opposite of Facebook!). What's your LJ username, if you don't mind me asking? I don't post or read much now (to be clear!) but I'm hoping to be around more.

I revived my habi for the sake of screenies x3 I had the rainbow background too, and p3 ink dropper. I wish I hadn't got the droppers though, since p3s die after a week e.e Painting them is just a waste of money.

I keep telling myself I should post more, but I can never seem to actually do it. My personal flist has seen a tiny bit of a revival lately; I posted an article on fb about "the decline of Livejournal" or something and a bunch of my friends were like, I miss LJ! and started posting again. They realized that, like you said, LJ provides a certain freedom of expression that they can't have anywhere else, especially FB. It's kind of nice.

Ooh, I'd like to read that article! Is it recent? I Googled and see an Daily Dot article from 2012, but that's it. I think a lot of my friends miss it too!

I think one thing that stops me from posting (and stopped me "back in the day") is the expected give-and-take of the site, like "you read mine and I'll read yours." I've always found that difficult (and generally I hate any kind of obligation ;) ) so even now I feel 'guilty' for posting if I don't read my flist. But I think I should just go ahead and do it, and in doing that I'll naturally want to check out my flist once in a while, and I'll read the recent posts of friends who comment. I just need to not feel obligated!

ugh I haven't posted on LJ for over a year, and I have a permanent account too. all the site changes just piss me off. I spend my life RPing on Dreamwidth these days anyway, I hardly ever use either of my personal journals.

ANYWAY HI GUYS. I'm Liz and I'm still alive and still read the n_a forum posts even though I hardly ever post any more. I do a lot less chatting and socialising online than I used to since I got sick: I have fibromyalgia and a lot of the time I'm too tired and brainfog to type words.

I still have my Neo account but I do nothing over there except play Sakhmet Solitaire obsessively and check my stocks.

I, too, have pretty much stopped playing Neo. I got sick of the Habitarium locking all the time, I can no longer win mini-games in Keyquest, and I hate restocking. Bah. I keep logging in once every couple of weeks or so, hoping that Jumpstart will do something exciting.

Oh wow, I went to look at my user dashboard and now my friend feed appears on it. COOOL.

I never could get into Keyquest. I sucked HARDCORE at all the minigames. And I did make a habitarium, but for some reason all my p3s and buildings were invisible. All the time. That made it a bit hard to play. So not v. sorry it's gone.

What changes on LJ don't you like? I heard about the comment headers, but I don't know about the other changes. I do wish the staff would listen to the userbase more!

I'm sorry you have a permanent account you can't use now. :( The comment headers made a HUGE difference for the people that used them. My downloading community used them too! I've been looking at journals person by person, so I haven't seen the new friends page yet.

Jumpstart is a company that makes educational games, and they bought Neopets, back in March!

Wow.. I havent thought about Neopets in a very long time...Since I found Subeta I have been so happy! Subeta has MORE challenges, better games...but I do miss my pets :)
