The Ruffie is up for a Revamp. Vote vote vote vote vote vote.

Honestly, I like the revamp. It's cute and clever. The colors I'm not fond of, but I can adjust to. And besides, most people don't keep a common ruffie anyway. They often change it to the special colors.

Also, it's not a horrible revamp. It all matters on ones taste in art.

To the artist: It is a good drawing, minus the wonky broken looking paw. I like the drawing itself - but not for the Ruffie.

Now then - I voted against this. It just is...not what a ruffie is. It looks like a different breed of dog entirely, and it looks like an old man dog as opposed to the cute ruffie. I also do not agree with the colour change. Maybe brown and blue sounded good - but this is dirt brown and dark blue with light blue eyes. Those colours do not blend well whatsoever.

Like with old revamps - I want the new ruffie to at least resemble the old one. No, I don't own one, but I have thought of owning the graveyard ruffie. If this goes through, all ruffies will change, and so will the graveyard. Instead it will have three heads similiar to this, which is why I am disagreeing instead of rolling over and sayings it good because I dont own one and I shouldn't care.

If you want a dog like this, make a new pet. This isn't a ruffie, its something else. A ruffie does not have spots, a ruffie is blue, it is cute, it has a big tongue, and it is a different kind of dog. This dog lacks the ruffie spunk, and also the expression. Now that I am writing...I really don't like it.

I wouldn't have commented, but I keep seeing it when I brows back to subeta and I dislike it when I see it on the front page.

I vote: make a new dog pet. Make a dog like this, and redraw the ruffie like it should be.

ClockworkReverie's is cuter. XD

ClockworkReverie I like the light colored blue with the dark blue spots.

Paintz, I also like the red and teal colored one too.

Eh...I don't care for the new one. Maybe it is just because of the blue spots but...I am not sure. I like the eyebrows though lol. But of course I am not the biggest Ruffie fan. I am fine either way.

My first reaction after realizing it wasn't a new species: "...Ew."

As people have said before, the lifted paw doesn't look quite right, and the ears could use some tweaking. The color scheme is growing on me, but it reminds me too much of those small, yappy mutt to get one.

I don't mind the spots though...really...or the eyebrows. I just want the dog (or "Ruffie" if you insist) blue. I liked it like that.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

It's very cute!

But I think a different colour scheme would make it look even cuter.
Maybe like a black or dark grey spots against the brown fur?

Just suggesting/saying.:3

Also:Love the eyebrows!

Okay, so, I messed around with hues on photoshop, and here are the various one's that came up:

By doing this I see that the blue color you used is the opposite color of the tan you used, which for large markings, I don't always think works really well? I dunno' x D I'm bad at colors myself soyeah

Hmmm... I'm not loving it... I think the right front paw is somewhat, er, turned the wrong way and the ears don't seem to be in the right perspective with its head... And The colors and expression don't seem to fully match the Ruffie, well, at least the colors! '

I like the updateness of the new supposed look, but...
When I looked at it it just didn't hit me as it being a Ruffie. One of the things with the older Ruffie was that it was blue and had no spots. I would still like to see that with the new one =3 Other wise it is good but it's just not a Ruffie to me.

Ugh, i'm sorry, but that is an UGLY revamp. Seriously. Other than improved shading, subeta has taken a step backwards with this one, excluding maybe the ears and defining of the paws. What is with the scary eyebrows? The eyes that look like cake frosting? Strange blue fungus spots growing on the once adorable puppy?! NOO! Get back, you abomination of a Ruffy!

The form and drawing are fantastic! The eyebrows are slightly odd, but they don't bother me (though I am also not a Ruffie owner). But once again, the color has been completely changed from what someone may have chosen to build a character around, and if I owned a pet whose base color was changed so drastically I'd be devastated. Colorize that bad boy back to blue and white and it will rock the casbah!

Seerow: Yeah, I do agree about the color monotony thing. I hate it when a pet looks almost exactly the same in multiple colors. But it seems like a lot of people are just so used to the baby blue of the old Ruffie. I personally think that it really helps to emphasize the innocent, baby puppy nature of the pet. And this -particular- shade of blue and tan could probably be improved upon. I love blue and brown, it's my favorite color scheme (which is why I love so many Cream pets XD) but I think this combination could be more harmonious.

Here's another idea, what if you were to have a mostly blue body, but with brown markings?

Yeah, the color scheme is a lot like Cream, but I think that a blue-dominant body would help dispel that. Or maybe if the brown was darker. I dunno. I think that above all else, the babyish Ruffie character should be kept intact, it's what sets it apart from the other canine pets.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I thought this was a different species.

It doesn't do it for me. It looks a bit plain. The art is nice, but it's just...Not half as cute. The colors though...Bad choice. Something more...blendable would be fine. More similiar in shades.

Seerow, I think dusk is generally A LOT darker than what the original ruffie's colors where x D

And it's not so much the different colors, it's the ones that were chosen do not mix well at all.

I like it but I prefer the old one.It looks somewhat angry, but I don't mind as long as the chibi does not change.

There are a hundred different shades and hues of blue! (And yes, I saw what Rah put earlier complaining about how all the blue pets just get bluer, but you can do something with angelic besides make it blue...I mean, what about stark white, like a blinding flash with wings and a halo?!?)

The shade of blue it has in the ears (and spots) right now would be great for dusk. The tan/brown on the body would be great for marsh.

I really do not like it's 'eyebrows' They're bushy and odd. xD Another thing that bothers me is the ears. They just look awkward. This Ruffie looks like it could of come from Prehistoric times.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

yeah i agree with most people about the eyebrows.. think they look ... weird .. must say ive never saw a dog with eyebrows haha. Also not to keen on the colours... or the number of spots. i think 1 or 2 big spots would look better than small ones. but its a nice improvement on the old one

And can we make the eyebrow-like spots disappear?

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Seerow

As Rah said earlier though, having the common color of a pet blue leads to some issues with Dusk, and other colors. If the main pet is blue, what is dusk going to look like, its twin?
A few other pets suffer from this same-color symptom. The first one I can think of as an example would be the Common Mahar, which looks nearly identical to the Marsh version.

Changing the common color to be a different base from the special colors helps drastically reduce the redundancy of it. After all, if you like the original blue of the Ruffie, you can always paint him Dusk Its not like painting him dusk will cost you a lot. The Dusk potion itself is under 200k, and the Dusk Ruffie elixir is under 30k.

Another thing that I just realized is also bothering me is the ears. With the old ruffie I liked how one of the ears stuck up higher than the other. This new one has realistic ears of course, but it just isn't the same.

I also agree about the blue coloring version with the shiner eyes that someone else made. The blue colors help it look like the old ruffie.

To me, if you went up to it and pushed it from the left, the poor thing would topple over. The front paw (not the hanging one) should be over a little more to make it look like it's balanced. I don't really care for the pelt colour at all; why not just stick to the common scheme the old one has now? Also, it looks very chubby. xD It's not bad, but I still don't care for the species in general.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by babytwinklette

I think that the Ruffie needs to keep his original colors. The brown which is now a part of him makes me THINK that he's a Marsh Ruffie. (I didn't go and compare them..I was just thinking as an outsider to the Ruffies.)

As I was scrolling down to the comment box, I noticed the new style with the original colors by ClockworkReverie, and I really like that. You have your more sophisticated drawing without losing the original charm and color of the pet.

The "eyebrows" don't really bother me; the color does.

Like most everyone else here, I also don't really like the eyebrows. Definitely could do without them. The rest of the coloring looks off to me.

There's also something about the expression that I don't like. It doesn't look as happy and puppyish as the old one was. I'm hoping the galactic ruffie isn't going to change, right?

You know what I think should happen with polls? Instead of having more color options (because that would be a lot of work for an artist when the design gets revamped), have another option added to the poll for "New with some tweaks". So you would have the following in the polls:

-Old
-New
-New - Some minor changes. Suggestions in comment box please.

I'm reading a lot of the comments here and I see a lot of "I like all but X so I had to vote old." If there had been an option to have the poll with tweaks, it would give people a bit more control over their vote. Not sure how well that would work out, but its an idea that could be tried on another revamp sometime and see how it works out. Shrugs

This pet is really growing on me. But darn it, I don't have anyone else to morph and I'll never afford any more Plushies. Curse you, Rah!

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

So this is gonna be the normal ruffie? I love how it looks, it's very adorable! It's just, the ears and spots color doesn't go too well with the tan coat to me... but if this is going to be the new style, I love it! :3

Some people have said that the eyes look a little dull and lifeless-- maybe if you were to put another white highlight in the iris opposite the one that's already there (like in the old Ruffie design) they would look brighter.

I made another mockup. Please don't kill me.

More light in the eyes. Also, just out of curiosity, I wanted to see what it would look like if the colors were changed to look more like the old Ruffie scheme. And as for the claws that some people seem to dislike-- I tried removing them, but oddly enough, the feet just looked so incomplete without them!

I don't know why this revamp is intriguing me so much... I don't even own a Ruffie. XD

It's adorable, but the problem is it'll inevitably win because it fits with the new Subeta style that the old version doesn't fit in anymore.

There are problems, but it'll still win.
I'd prefer a version that was like the old one, but with the new style. The new pose looks awkward.
