You keep moving the goalposts. First it was about galleries going away.

I have never said that.

Quote
Then it was about galleries being too small.

I have never said that.

Quote
Then it was about galleries getting a cap.

I have always said that.

Quote
Then galleries not raising the cap fast enough. (etc.)

Here's what I said:

Quote
Eh, fine. Let&;s say that somewhere down the road Subeta is able to up the limits high enough ...

See those words, "Let's say that..."? It means that I was accepting a hypothesis for the sake of discussion. I was humoring someone else's argument and responding to it. That wasn't what I was advocating; it's what someone else was advocating that I was responding to.

Your accusation that I have moved the goalposts is an untrue and unfair one.

[edit]My very first forum point since this whole thing began. Woo-hoo.

I can&;t imagine mustering up this kind of outrage over something that will eventually change back to how we knew it (and better, since there&;ll be no more 502 errors) and will never impact my real life in any meaningful way, ever.
There is no guarantee that the shop system will EVER change back to what we have no. Where on earth is that idea coming from?!

I'm just speaking in general terms with the overall rhetoric going on in this thread. People keep presenting reasonable, concrete explanations for why the changes are happening, and then folks find a different quibble to keep the outrage furnace stoked.

All of this is is a temporary annoyance that's gonna shake out and allow the feature and game to come back bigger and better than ever (NO ERRORS! Something we've been caterwauling about since they started cropping up), so why is dander raised as violently as it is? I can't understand it. Keith has assured people from the start that he's listening and doing his best, he just did so in your thread right here, so. Uh. Now what?

I'm primarily speaking from the beta testing I've already been doing firsthand with the new system. It's pretty slick. You'll love it.

Like I explained before, some of us have heard that 'If we do this there will be NO MORE ERRORS' line before... only to face even more (and sometimes worse) errors.

It's great that you have so much faith in this going smoothly. I get why you do. I just wish you were trying harder to understand why everyone isn't looking at this the way you are. :)

I just want to post here saying that we&;re not ignoring this, we&;ve been watching it. I also get email updates with how many people have signed it ;) We&;re working hard to ensure that we can raise the limits to something sensible, we aren&;t planning on charging CSC for future upgrades, and we&;ve been collecting the feedback from this thread and the one in feedback.

I&;m probably not going to respond here much else (busy working, pushed a huge server update last night, rewrote the entire database piece between Subeta and our databases) but we&;re not ignoring you :)

That's good, but I'd like to know if galleries will ever go on a separate system and if I ever will be able to use my old galleries again (because I don't want to move all my items and re-create all the categories)

It's not so much I have innate faith in things going as planned or without a hitch. I just feel like this much wringing of hands and stomping of feet is way too much energy and bile to spend about a game's infrastructure changing cuz it's otherwise gonna buckle under its own weight.

I totally get that having to transfer/shuffle galleries and shops is gonna suck. I'm not looking forward to the eventual slog of moving stuff outta Cool Tapes to whatever I name my new shop and having to fumble with prices resettling and rearranging. And I get that folks with big honking galleries are gonna have to sit on their hands for a bit and stare down the barrel of doing an even BIGGER shuffle and remake. They might have to deal with their collections being truncated or hidden until things return to the status quo.

But the staff has stated they're committed to raising the cap and allowing people to rebuild to their former glory. I don't see why they'd renege on that since they're plenty aware it's a present concern with a portion of the userbase and it's not a commitment beholden to a busted code any longer. The gradual rollout is to make sure it CAN happen and lay further groundwork to make sure it DOES happen in due time.

Meanwhile, people are swearing up and down they're going to withhold traffic, money and general patronage over what comes down to a rotting building wing needing to be wrecking balled and rebuilt to be more sturdy and sustainable. Also getting steamed over staff not dignifying suggestions that don't have any sort of technical or feasible legs and perceiving it as disrespect. It's a disproportionate reaction to something that's just an inevitability and I'm gonna continue to overall be baffled but also lightly entertained by it.

While I agree that there are some people that may be... disproportionately upset about this, I must disagree with you if you are referring this this thread when you make that statement.

I don't blame the people that are wary of making purchases from a website that they are uncertain is stable. Just as players shouldn't take these proposed shop and gallery changes personally, no one on staff (or other players for that matter) should be taking it personally when players say that they are unwilling to invest in Subeta right now. Just as some people are viewing these staff changes as the smart thing to do for the site in the long run, not spending money on a gold account right now can be viewed as a fiscally responsible thing for players to be doing.

Time for me to log off for a few days. If you ping me, I won't be reply until Monday :)

Here's a link to your post. You pinged me, specifically, and no one else when you wrote "You keep moving the goalposts." You referenced our previous conversation in the message (taking this personally, stage a walk out, etc.) Once I called you on it, you now saying that you were "just speaking in general terms".

I have only been honest with you, but you haven't shown me the same courtesy.

See you Saturday.

Nobody is smashing windows or writing senators, they're upset about something in a game they play often and enjoy, and they're responding in the context of the game, directed at the people who are making the game. It hardly seems extreme. They are acting more reasonably than posting sassy response images about them voicing their opinions.

not entirely true.. someone did make a Change.Org petition. So not really in the game's context and change.org is pretty darn extreme. there are also some fairly savage posts on subeta speaks. (both ways tbf)

i think everything will work out in the end. just sucks that there's so much drama in the meantime.

: Thank you.

: change.org is "pretty darn extreme"? You certainly weren't around during the 60's! I guess next time I'll go back to smashing windows and writing senators.

: Wow, you sure do like to gloat, don't you? I lost count of how many times you posted that laughing cartoon character.

But I bet you've never had a birthday before -- or ever will again -- when the site had a Token Shop restock, a Crystal Shop restock, a Cash Shop restock, a Free Gift, and a new Battle Challenger all in the same day. And if the message that Subeta was trying to incentivize people to log on yesterday wasn't clear enough already, the Battle Challenger was an actual carrot!

So, keep mocking me for aiming high and trying a tactic that hadn't been tried before; you'll never rattle the site into giving away so much swag.

 1. Why is subetaspeaks something you'd even bring up? It only exists to be awful to people anonymously.
 2. A change.org petition is just an online petition, it's hardly extreme. It's a simple and easy way to let the site know users care about an issue.
 3. Yeah there is some terrible drama, which will only go away with time, but that's not a reason to be rude to people. And the OP here isn't even the one being over-dramatic on this thread.

Haven't seen much more than 900 users yesterday. :x Considering all of the news, the restocks, cash shop, weekend quest and everything else, that's a bit unusual for such an eventful, content-filled day. Even with the temporary blank page crapout we've had around noon Subeta time.

I understand that feeding your pets isn't everyone's cup of tea on Subeta, but this is a low amount of users for a Friday. We usually get around 1-1.2k over the weekends, if memory serves me right.

I may not be entirely on board with the OP, but even with all the downplaying and mocking it's been subjected to, I'd say the walkout made its point.

[edit] Looks like we're not going to get much higher numbers in the users online department today either. Huh.

The carrot battler... oh gosh. I don't know whether to find that funny or not.

I forgot to log off Thursday night, so I ended up coming on here just to log off. But, I ended up buying something from the Token Shop because of habits and I was just waking up. Sorry. ;~;

I have seen Keith take responsibility and the staff take the user feedback seriously, so I'm more confident in them. But, I'm still all for this petition.
