Probably my favorite memory was entering the contest where we made Subeta-inspired tree ornaments IRL, way back in 2014! I made this one, a plush of : EDIT: omg this image is HUGE and I don't know how to make it smaller, I'm sorry ;_;

I didn't win anything in the contest, but I still have my Balloony and still hang him on my tree!

Something I'd Love to See

This may just be a "me" thing, but I'd like to see the rest of the formerly-restockable balloons from the Balloon Hut be added to the Carnival Prize Tent! I particularly wish the missing items from sets could be added (like not all the balloon hairpins are there, for instance). In another thread, I've even volunteered to make a list of what's missing since I have all the balloon items in my gallery and can tell at a glance what needs to be added to the tent.

I joined late to the party but out of my four years here on Subeta, the one thing that has kept me coming back is the community. I would love to see more item revamps! With less releases during events nowadays, I feel it'd be potentially managable. Especially wearables & restockables. The old art is memorable and unique, but out of date compared to the newer items being added.

My favourite memory is that band contest a loooong while back - we were all zombies dressed in prince-like purple and our band was called Purple Brains. I personally think we were hilarious. And I remember I had a lot of fun with the plots and the seasonal events. Edit: OMG. I remember that crafting contest mentioned - that was a lot of fun, too!

I had several years of hiatus and just recently redescovered Subeta, so I'm really just excited to see all the changes Kumos is going to bring and also to find out what has changed in my looooong absence. So far I love the QOL changes for quests and I hope for more similar streamlining to come.

There's 19 years of memories to choose from but probably one of the plots? The first survival was definitely memorable 🧟 I kept the zombie skin on for years because back then curing the strain was permanent. It's still my favourite event, I love following the strain progressions. (The Saheric temple plot is a close second!)

Plots? 😁 Hopefully they'll be easier to do with updated codebase. I did like the wearable contest too a few years back (during masquerade, with items like ). There's also a bunch of old plot items that I'd love to see back in circulation again. Maybe a battle themed event that would have bunch of old opponents available to battle again to get their loot back to circulation?

I still remember jumping ship from neopets when someone posted a link to subeta in the forums after the 2.0 update (was that really nearly 20 years ago now? geez) And I was so flabbergasted and super pumped that a pet site would actually show blood (gasp!) or like, any sort of non-PG (G?) aspects to pets. not just hidden away on not-actually-allowed pet profiles, but on OFFICIAL SITE PETS. I don't have him anymore (I wish I did) but one of the first "dream" pets I achieved was a bloodred tigrean and I was riding that high for WEEKS lol.

I would love the ability to make that one plot related pet (bahkoru) that doesn't require you to do the workaround of making a nostalgic version first since the og page is broken (and only available to those of us that did the plot a decade ago even if it was working, iirc?)

Not exactly a fave memory, but it's always a heartwarming suprise when I'm having a rough day or struggling with mental health, and I open the site to find a kind comment from a stranger, a random gift, or that I've won a contest/giveaway. :) Even though I'm not very sociable and have been less sociable online in recent years than I used to be in the past, I feel more comfortable around the Subeta community than the other sites I play.

Something I'd Love to See

Like someone else suggested, I'd love to see more revamps for super old wardrobe items, particularly restockables and easier to get stuff, to make them match the current item style. There are lots of cool old wearables that are sadly hard to use in HAs due to their art standing out too much from other wearables. (I hope old items that are more recent (2013 and later-ish?) remain unchanged though. I adore the style of those!)

I'm also curious about plots. While I did join in 2015, I've only started being active in 2018-2019. I believe the last ever plot was the only one I got to experience, and even then I was still figuring out the site and didn't really participate in it. I'd really love to get a chance to experience plots.

Definitely my first Survival! I had only been on the site for a few months, and I got the coolest skin, Butterfly Bruise! I'm not much for romance, so seeing that the Valentine's event was zombie-themed got me hooked instantly. It's still my favorite event and I'm super proud to say I was the first user to collect every single zombie skin!

my favourite memory is the Halloween plot with Jax and Ian!! I remember really loving the new art and uncovering the mysteries. Maybe once we're all fully on kumos, plots like that could happen again!

hmmm, maybe revamping some old items to have more uses? I remember amber mentioning once she would do something with the computer parts (beyond combining them to make a computer) it would be fun to reuse old items and bring some interactivity/goals back to the site!

coming together as a group to get the super user achievements back in the early days. the sense of comraderie was pleasant, and watching the number rise to that 2k was gratifying, its always pleasant being part of a group effort.

plots! or at least plot reruns. They dont need to be big and bombastic, but having more lore about the subeta denizens was so interesting, so would love to see it come back. Gunther has been in jail for so long, would love to see an end to that at least!

I have a terrible memory, so anything specific to me is really hard to remember. :( But I really enjoyed when staffers were 'characters' in Subeta! It always feels nice and nostalgic coming across items themed after staffers like Keith stuff, Cyde stuff, etc..

I'm throwing my request for a Shengui Guo Beanbag release onto the very large pile haha. Maybe the Universal Remote as well, since there's an achievement for that?

And something that would be lovely is if multi-book reading could be fixed up, it hasn't worked in a little while and I'm trying to raise my battle pet's AP.

"Keith says he is all for massively increasing the pet cap." January 8th, 2025, the greatest day of my life.

This is... very hard to answer in a more serious manner (although, I don't think I can stress enough the sheer excitement I felt on that day; I am really, truly not normal about pets here). I've been on Subeta since aaaalmost the very beginning. (My account turns 19 this year, and I am 99% positive it's not my original account, haha.) I'm also a horribly forgetful person, so details get lost pretty quick no matter how much excitement I'm experiencing. Man, I have had so, so much fun with old plots and new pet releases, and I've met some really wonderful people through this website.

I am... really, incredibly emotionally attached to this website, and it really means the world to me, and I'm not always great at expressing that but, ah. I am just so incredibly grateful that Subeta is still around, and still being actively worked on despite all the difficulties and. I started tearing up reading a different thread earlier tonight, just out of love for this site and all the hard work and love put into it and appreciation that it still exists, and. I'm crying again so I guess I'll stop talking about that??? But I mean, truly, this site is so important to me, and I'm so, so grateful that it still exists, especially in this day and age.

... Anyway, my Subeta memory! The serious answer! I attended a Subeta meetup in Seattle years and years ago, and while I was very shy and didn't talk a lot, it was an awesome experience. Every user that attended got to request a sketch of a pet, and I remember Rah was excited when I requested a mallarchy. The memories are a little fuzzy at this point (it's been so long!) but I thiiink it was like, she was excited that I had requested a less popular species? I just remember it was so cute, haha, both the mallarchy sketch and her excitement! I am not entirely sure where it went since I've moved a few times but I know I have that mallarchy sketch stashed away somewhere...

(Although, looking back, it's a bit tragic that back then I had not yet evolved into the hipottu freak I am now...)

Something I'd Love to See

I am really, honestly trying to think of something that isn't obnoxious and pet slot-related, but the most honest answer from me on 'what I want to see on Subeta' really truly is for my account to have 150 or more filled pet slots. It is the ultimate dream! For me, there's no excitement like the rush of getting a new pet without having to change an existing one, and I just love adding more to my collection. Subeta pets inspire me creatively; I love making OCs through Subeta pets and struggle to build characters without having a pet to represent them.

I think what would make me the most excited would be to have a couple of new pets released at once, with none being 'edit' colors like harvest or blacklight (not that those aren't great to see! I love them a lot! They're just not as exciting as a full-on new redrawn color, you know?) I totally understand why that isn't a thing anymore, with the limited art resources, but it was always so exciting.

I would also be stoked to see a hipottu battle challenger or some kind of hipottu NPC or something, haha. In general, I really like seeing art for the less popular or commonly-seen species!

I've only been here a bit (it will 2 years in a few weeks!) but I will never forget my first Suvival. Learning how everything worked on the site and discovering all the Survival mechanics was so enjoyable. When I found this site I was shocked how it almost felt frozen in time, it was perfect to me. I am always looking for more traditional online experiences, pet sites being one type, but nothing has fit for me quite like Subeta has. It's a absolute treat and I am so thankful to Keith and the entire team for keeping this all going and continuing to do so after so long. Much love~

Im my wildest dreams, I would love a big new Pet type/drop. with items and potions and colors for them all ready to go, or maybe spread out over a period of time. That would be so fun- BUT I know that must be a huge thing to do and might even be impossible? Not sure but a gal can dream...

I've been around here for a little over 18 years. It all started because of a certain pet site that didn't treat a case of pet theft correctly glares at said site Here, I've found it to be a very positive experience, even with the minor hiccups and glitches. I'm patient, so those aren't really a debilitating thing for me.

My favorite memory would probably be when we did Epicon: I was actually able to make an HA that looked similar to what the character looked like on the cover of the book she was featured on.

Bring back Epicon enough said (A: I need to buy more stuff from the Con shop if the items weren't that dang pricey! B: Users are so clever in their HAs...it's mind-boggling sometimes and interesting to figure out what those HAs were!)

I'm going on 20 years here, so dang...picking one thing is rough. The Battle of the Bands will forever stand out as a core Subeta memory for me, though. The Peka-Boo Festival was such a huge combo of plot, new features/items rollouts, community engagement...truly just chef's kiss. The collaboration that we had to do as bandmates to get together a mini-marketing campaign and get all of our outfits juuuuuust right? Ugh. Such a blast. ILU SUGARAUDIO GIRLIES <3

Ok, I'm feeling all nostalgic now and I realize how outside-the-realm-of-actual-feasability this is while you're trying to actively build Kumos and save Subeta from a tragic death...but like so many others have said: plots. I'd love to see some of the whimsy and storytelling come back into the tried and true events like Masq or Survival as like a little mini-plot!

Man, this thread is bringing back so many memories. The plots and events! The creative contests (masks, ornaments, pumpkins)! The irl meetups! Keeping this site going and bringing it into 2026 is such a huge undertaking, but it is so appreciated. Subeta is truly a special place :)

My best ever memory stems from my beginning, when on my second day I was found by a fellow former Neopets player, who explained everything to me, gifted me a "fortune" to start off and I was soooo thrilled, how easy in comparison it was to make money here!

Next best is Islanders war, with a wonderful community, who battled the lag more than the foes ;-) (the battle chat was exactly this, a chat and not a list of who did their Battle Quests today) and Saherimos trail.

Once everything is set, I'd love to see plots again like in the old days with a mixture of puzzles to solve, tasks to fulfill and battling exciting foes.

My friend at the time, now spouse introduced me to Subeta. I first joined the site in the midst of Survival and was blown away by the zombie infection vibes. What an introduction! It was a lot of fun.

Throwing some interest in plots into the pile! But also I'd love if Kumos could have the option to instantly add items purchased into our collections if we don't already have an item there. I really like that prompt after buying a plushie, clothing item, etc. to add it to the relevant collection or my wardrobe if I don't already have it. I'm finding I really miss that when shopping on the Kumos side of things!

One thing I remember that makes me chuckle is when the human avatar system was first released, and there was this massive rush to buy clothes. Almost every single wearable item--and there weren't many--was inflated to ridiculous prices, and I pined for items that are now basically junk. The lucky telenine tails were the first wearables I kind of obsessed over, since the idea of making my HA into a teleninetaur (???) was so cool to me at the time haha. I saved up for a long time before finally being able to purchase one.

In retrospect those early HAs were SO hilarious and chunky looking--the art style has changed so much over the years and I think it's awesome to see how creative people get with items and layering. People are capable of making some genuinely elegant designs with what's effectively a super-extensive digital paper doll!

Remembering the prices of items from back then also reminded me of when I finally earned enough to buy my first 1 month GA medal, which were like 500k at the time. I rushed to make five more pets to get to the increased limit of 10, which feels so quaint nowadays. Some of the pets I made I basically turned to a random page in the dictionary to get a name for, and figured it out from there. That's how I got a weirdo name like Hendiadys, a pet I still own lol.

Something I'd Love to See

I just want to see the site grow. I think that people are frustrated with the state of the modern internet--I certainly am--and Subeta can offer a respite from all the dopamine-driven content/engagement farms out there. CDs and even cassettes are making a comeback with younger generations because it's a way to actually own the music you buy, and the forms offer a certain physicality that you just cannot get with streaming (especially cassettes, with their hissy and temperamental behavior sometimes). Anyway, I wonder if a browser-based game like Subeta, with no "For You" page or disruptive ads and real people making real art and such, can make a similar comeback.

A more concrete suggestion: I want more "official" avenues for sharing user-submitted writing and art! Like an art gallery of Subeta-related works, a journal of user writing, etc. How cool would it be to visit the art gallery at Delphi and see something that you drew (assuming you aren't a staff artist)?

My very first christmas exchange on here. I LOVED the experience, the concept of it, being able to do so and watch presents go under the trees. It was nice, and it felt like a big community event.

Something I'd like to see? Top surgery scars as an option for our avatar base. As a trans man, it's a big deal to me! Maybe something like a slider, how yknow, people can turn the nose option off and on? IDK, it's silly, but yeah!
