My Subeta Memory

I’m an Introvert and enjoy playing Subeta mainly by myself. However, I have enjoyed those events where all Subetans worked together. One event was where we all had to do enough Quests combined to earn a Pet Slot. Another event was the Recycle Beasts Composting, where we had to turn in enough Pumpkins combined to earn items.

Another memory I have is where I have added Pets and their Minions. I spent a lot of time determining which Pet species, Pet color, and their Pet name. Then matching a suitable Minion and a name for that Minion to go with the Pet I added. I have enjoyed working on the stats for all my Pets since they were added to my account. This activity has kept me occupied and sane while the world is going through all troubles it’s going through.

Something I'd Love to See

I’d like to see an option in my Galleries and Shops to be able to sort differently. This would help me declutter them from item types I don’t want kept in my different Galleries and Shops. For example, in the Shop where I keep Books, I’d like it to show me if there are any items in that Shop which don’t have the tag which identifies it as a Book. This would be especially helpful during events where Random items are given, I don’t see them, and they get Quick Stocked into the Shop where I store Books.

I have enjoyed playing Subeta the 19+ years I’ve been on. It will be interesting to see where the Kumos version takes us. I look forward to spending more time with Keith, the Staff, and all my fellow Subetans!

I don't really talk to anyone on here but I love the sense of community anyway - giving expensive stuff away during Luminaire is one of my favorite things to do online every December; it's not exactly a specific memory, but I always look forward to seeing people's reactions to stuff I give them and replying to people in return to thank them for their generosity too.

I'm a sucker for space-themed things; I can't think of any specifics I'd like to see come back, but hopefully there'll be more stuff with Atebus as a story down the line, so I can pick up a few space-themed wardrobe items.

Subeta has been a part of my story since I was 14. To this day I remember the first weeks of playing, figuring out achievements and site themes and forum signatures and all site features and past and ongoing plots and items and battling and the Wardrobe!!!! and how respectful the community is, and how staff and the game itself are way more accessible than the other petsite and the game itself is designed to treat us users as mature, not childlike. I turn 25 next week and subeta has been present for like, half of my life. I am thankful for all the entertainment, everything i've learned, the friendships I made, conversations and interactions I've had, the amazing art, gosh I could go on forever. Even though I have been busy with life lately, everything will forever be in my thoughts with much love.

My hottest take today is that, since the other petsite is ripping off Subeta directly, maybe we should start ripping them off shamelessly too I would love to see more pet colours and plots, definitely, these don't need to be very complex at all, take Vesnali's 2014 (?) Tempest plot for example.

The first memory that springs to mind is from this past Luminaire where I gifted one of my friends this set of items and shared a screenshot of it in the Discord server where several people thought it was funny haha

As someone who hasn't been an active user for many years, I really like how the recent holidays have included items from past years. However, I can't help but notice that the really old stuff (pre-2009ish) is omitted and I'd like it if these items were also made more accessible again.

Also, maybe I'm overlooking it, but is there a preview function for Kumos forum posts? Because I kinda really want it :')

edit: ah, i found it! the icon being so similar to the spoiler tag one was throwing me off a little. side note: wow, that 'edit' button is small! i wouldn't mind it being a little bigger/more prominent. (also am i the only one who feels like the way line breaks work is really unintuitive?)

I don't have a lot of memories about this website since I've been on and off. But my fondest memory would be that time I was finally able to save up enough sP to get an Angelic Potion and make Dizmis, my Darkonite. Always found this species very cute. <3

I absolutely cannot forget when a bunch of us in CHIC because OBSESSED with Kpop in the 00/10s (particularly Lollipop) and it was EVERYWHERE. Honestly obsession might be putting it lightly. I'm glad I still talk to so many of these nerds after so many years.

I would love to see old trivia prizes make a comeback. I wasn't that good at figuring out the correct answers so missed quite a few.

If you do another plot, please don't have teams competing with each other. Even if a person did everything correctly as an individual, if they were on the losing team, the prizes at the end were a let down.

One of my favorite memories was actually when I was first starting, and how generous everyone was, and how easy it was to work hard to achieve things. Subeta's never been impossible. I LOVED the New Year's Shop and also when people would randomly dump crazy rare items in the donation shop at the end of the year. Always fun surprises.

It's probably not possible, but I miss Legacy Names so much. I don't know if there's a way to possibly implement a system to claim legacy names again, but I would love that. It was always one of the most fun things, to come up with a unique name that wans't used yet.

man. it's wild to think I'm going on 19 years. I think my sharpest memory is... I think a year into being here, my account was just suddenly gone? I don't remember the exact details because I was literally 12 or 13 when it happened, but it was some kind of bug. I remember crying while talking to one of the moderators (Chimera, I think?) and trying to convince them that I wasn't a bad person. If I recall, I just had just gotten my discount card after restocking and saving for months and had gotten my Angelic Potion for a pet with a cool name I had adopted (Mud). I remember the moderator being very nice, but also telling me I had to pick a new username and that's when I rebranded myself as Pink.

I also recall when I met the user "Punk" and we had a brilliant conversation about how funny it was that there was already a book about our inevitable meeting. They were cool.

On a more serious note: I've been busier over the past decade so I haven't had as much time to interact, but this was also one of the first places I encountered other people who weren't in my small, insulated, religious cult. My parents let me use subeta and neopets because they didn't know what forums were, but neopets was so locked down by comparison. Here I was able to actually have conversations with people and encounter radical ideas like, "maybe people who aren't religious aren't literally demons" or "maybe gay people are regular people", and I think that was pivotal to my deprogramming. Unfortunately, deprogramming also meant I escaped, went to college and got a job, so had less time to spend on here.

I don't even know. I'm mostly here for the ride at this point and enjoy the nostalgia. Maybe a new quest giver could be cool? Questing is one of the only things I do, so I'd appreciate something new.

I appreciate all ya'll do and thank you for all the hard work. A lot of the places like this that I spent a lot of time on as a kid are either unrecognizable (cough neopets cough) or are gone altogether. I'm grateful that subeta has made it this far.

It wasn't necessarily a full plot, and I won't just add to the chorus of people reminiscing about plots even though I loved them, but the little story with Gunter and having it revealed that he's the reason his brother is dead was soooo good. I love little character vignettes like that that give you more insight into who characters are and what their story is. Other than that, Lumi has always been a highlight of my time here on Subeta. The whole month being dedicated to giving gifts and sharing joy is my favorite thing. And I've made some great friends diving into the lumi forums and giftbombing people.

Maybe I'm screaming into the void, but, if we could see a return to the old way Mysterious Melody used to be done...? Like, perhaps make it an option when you sign up whether you'd like to join a group like we've been doing since MM came back, or to join the pool for one on one matching? I don't know, I just enjoyed the way MM used to work, where you could gift another person as much as you wanted throughout the day. The new way is fun too, but I miss the gift launching back and forth at various points. Sometimes logging on in the morning and sending off a few gifts, then checking in at lunch and seeing them reply and sending off more, and seeing even more in the evening kept my spirits up during a month where I typically struggle mentally, despite Christmas/Lumi being some of my favorite things. Sure there were some rotten apples every now and then, but the limit of only giving 5 items for the whole day feels... restrictive to the spirit of the season.

Even though I initially joined during the winter event, the site was so broken that my first and still my fondest memory here came during Survival. It was my first time getting a virus, and I know I did everything right, but there was a glitch that everyone and myself decided I just needed to start over. My initial “random new virus” effort had failed, but for a moment I knew I had seen a little gummy worm next to me! So I got my sP up and got that one specifically. That is the one that resulted in my dress up winning the NVLB 2022 Logo Contest.

Another fond memory from that survival was when I decided I was going to get the Cryomorph virus. It is a fond memeory because the transformation absolutely met my expectations, and memorable because that transformation was quite shocking to me too. Coming from the perspective of a Death Knight, the artists for that virus outdid themselves on an epic level!

Something I'd Love to See

It is hard for me to think of something more for the site because I am quite new and I don’t yet know the site well enough to really complain. But my newness has gone through the others posts and it now has me curious about the “plots” many seem to want to come back, but I do know that clicking a link in the search feature that goes to a specific event based shop would actually take me to the “year” that the item is in would definitely be a plus for me, because I am still collecting these things.

It was in the past 5 years or so, and I think on Twitter the account asked us what our favorite items were. I said the Sugar Mice because they were funny, but were worth like 20 million . And whoever was running the account (I think Amber?) sent them in a gift box.

I'd still like the Bhakoru event to happen - or for us to create one somehow. A sweetydead color would be awesome. I'd like some of the older CWs to be ported to the new system so they could be re-released (with the creator's permission) - I've been looking for some wigs for almost a decade.

Honestly my best memory was joining. The moment I made my account and started exploring was the moment that I knew i was going to be here for a while, and while my attention span has come and gone, I'm glad i keep remembering to come back and see what's new and what's passed.

Something I'd Love to See

I would love to see plot reruns. I wasn't an active player during the plots that I can see achievements for. I don't know what they were like or how they played out. I only know they exist because of the plot shop, the achievements and the Manor. I want so see those events, get a chance to earn plot points since there's no way to gain them currently, and let the players who were there the last time have the nostalgia of reliving these events.

Kumos Quests need a major overhaul in terms of a user price cap until stocking and reward balancing can be fixed. I doubt I need to say that, its in the chat nearly daily but never gets addressed.

A pet color thats somewhere between nightmare and nostalgia would be adorable. make them classic monsters and/or halloween costumes. Sheet ghosts and Frankenstiens and vampires and jack o lantern heads. it might be too seasonal or too niche, and I could get an overlay instead, but i think a whole collection would be cute.
