Once a year the apartment complex I live in has an inspection/audit. Last week it turned out just being someone to inspect the house before the audit actually happened. Since our house counts as a building it's always inspected. It's random if the other residents actually get inspected every year.
Jorah, Navi, and Ghost are fine. Though Ghost has a small infection and so we have to give her medication once a day. Both me and Brian were nearly having panic attacks when giving Ghost her medication tonight as our bird Lemon died when we gave her medication.
I don't get my hair dyed when I get my hair cut. I love getting my hair washed, it's one of my favorite parts XD
I'm sorry about the blood sugar thing. I hope they can figure that out :(
I've missed a day in the Bathouse before setting me all the way back to zero. Worst times are when I got a really good run in and then...yeah...
I ended up watching two good horror movies in a row: Daniel Isn't Real (2019) and The Alpines (2021). The latter is low budget so I wouldn't recommend to people who don't like those kinds of films. First one had body horror which I was not expecting XD
you are back! I was so worried about you -hugs- I am sorry your health been bad and i do hope you feel better soon.
Survival starts in february somewhere around the 14 can be a bit later.
The company did contacted me back, after i put a open message on FB as they just did not respond to anything, phone, email, etc. They handled it good. I had to send the item back and i got a giftcard from them. Already spend it, they had clearance, so loads of items.
Other then that i am fine, busy working.
horrible is it, and still stuff is comming out the 'beerput" has been opend.
Are you getting help with your diet? I did loads and had help to. BUT... i did not lose the weight good and i got it back big time. At my highest it was 115KG. So when i finally was fed up i spoke with my doctor and got help from an obesaty clinic. Got an operation and lost 40KG and i feel good.
Oh and choir with just 5 people.. i hope the rest is better soon.
-waves- hi and -hugs-
hah! i have escaped my evil overlord once again! with the help of my trusty minion i have made it back to my laptop. i'm not sure how long i'll be able to elude his evil overlordship but at least i'll be able to send myencrypted messages to the rebel alliance... (yes, i'm bored. very very bored.)
- i'm sorry the job search is going so badly. you'd think that with covid there would be a plethora of jobs to chose from. where are they hiding all the good jobs? what is this boos that you and emory find so horrible? i don't recall hearing anything in the news but then, us news can be very insular.
- i'm glad the birdies are doing well. now, don't you and brian work yourselves into a state. they'll be fine and so will you. :)what are those horror movies about? i don't care about low production as long as the story is there.
- i'm doing ok, hon. it's so sweet of you to worry about me. hugs rofl @ the company sending yu a gift card that you immediately spent on clearence items. i'm glad it was resolved to your liking.i'm guessing lock-down is done for you . did it make a difference? we still haven't locked down and i'm not sure we will now. capitalism really sucks sometimes.
ok. i thought it did start around feb 14 but i couldn't quite remember. i'll be honest, i can't stand valentine's day and think survival is the best way to handle it. lol
waves and hugs back
Daniel Isn't Real is about a boy having an imagery friend when he was younger. But after an incident, Luke imagines putting Daniel in a dollhouse which keeps Daniel out of his life. Until Luke 'releases' Daniel. Whether or not Daniel is actual real is put forth for the viewer to answer until the question is answered. I looked it up and I guess this movie is the first of a trilogy. I haven't looked up the other sequel that I think is out now as I had to calm down from this one first XD
The Alpines is about a group of friends being invited to a lodge. It turns out that no one actually knows who invited them or why. The film is extremely slow paced allowing viewers to get caught up in the atmosphere. The ending is wild, though, and is a good payoff for waiting.
I'm going to try it on my own first, but if I don't succeed this time I'll get help. I tried intermittent fasting two years ago but even though I did it for 8 months I hardly lost any weight, maybe a few kilograms. Now I'm just trying to reduce my sugar intake and eating around 1500 kcal a day. I know I have to change my lifestyle forever, because any weight I lose is quickly regained once I stop doing this. That's why I hope that by eating less sugar my preferences will change to less sweet food, but we will see...
There are some jobs out there, but I'm also just very picky. I have a permanent contract and a good salary right now, so the job I'll leave that for has to be good. I din't want to end up doing this job search in a year or two again. But those kind of jobs are usually offered by the big corps, and I don't see myself working for a big corp anymore. Right now the department of the company I work at has around 750 employees alone, and that's just one of the IT departments within the company. It feels like I'm doing politics more that I'm doing actual work, if that makes sense.
I'm just now reading about your health. I hope your feel better soon and you'll find out what's causing the low blood pressure.
about the boos programme, this may be triggering
The BOOS programme is a youtube programme criticising issues in the Dutch society. Last week they had an episode about The Voice. It turns out that many contestants were the victim of sexual misconduct or sexual assault by the band leader or two of the coaches. Especially the coaches are really famous in the Netherlands, so people are in shock about their behaviour. One of them has been accused of touching minors in inappropriate ways.
Yet at the same time people are victim blaming, saying that they're blowing stuff out of proportions just to get their minute of fame. I don't believe this. If this many people say they've had issues with sexual misconduct it must be a pattern.
I hope the inspection went ok and you don't have to pay for any damages or anything?
hahahaha lol! Eviloverlord :P I am always worried when friends dissapear..
I got loads of shower items and i have enough for a looonnnggg time lol! Still in a semi lockdown here, tomorrow another press con. and then we will here if all will be lifted. and i are ready to get it all gone and go back to normal.
never heard of those movies sound interesting.
that is good you are taking less suger! Less carbs help to. Good luck!
I'm trying to cut carbs too. I've considered to do the keto diet, but it feels like it would be a bit too strict for me. I like fruits and bread too much. But I am eating a lot less bread than I used to. I used to eat two slices for breakfast and 4 for lunch, like I was taught as a child. Now I'm just having a bit of greek yoghurt for breakfast and only 2 slices of bread for lunch.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow but it seems stuff will be more open and we can visit restaurants again.
good for you. Never heard of this keto diet.
I hope tomorrow will be good news and things will open!
Thanks :)
The big inspection won't happen until later this week :)
Movies I tend to gravitate towards tend to be odd. I like being weirded and feeling uneasy with movies. I didn't mean to watch two winners in a row, thought The Alpines would be meh so I could calm down from Daniel Isn't Real.
- daniel isn't realmakes me think of many stories i've experienced. the most vivid one is an episode of supernatural where the guys investigate odd deaths at a b&b. the owner has an elaborate dollhouse in which the deaths are all portrayed before they acctually occur. the owner was afraid that her daughter or mother was involved but it turned out to be the daughter's imaginary friend. the alpines reminds me of agatha christie's 10 little indians with a little of the shining thrown in. good luck with the inspection. whenever we have inspections or routine maintainence i'm a basket case. if i can get away with it i hide in my cave with a story turned all the way up. i just can not deal with strangers in my home. thankfully, the management are understanding.
- i completely understand what you're saying about the politics vs job issue. unfortunately, you can't really get away from it even if yu own your own company. hubby worked in itfor years and it was his issue.hopefully you'll be able to tough it out until you can find the right fit. as for the boos program, i don't watch the voice or any kind of reality show because they are all scripted. i learned that hard truth when i was completeing my bfa in creative writing. i was gobsmacked. as for the claims, i have no opinion but there tends to be no smoke unless there's fire. ;) thanks for the well wishes regarding my health. surprisingly they're not focusing on the low blood sugar. in fact, they're not really focusing on anything and are treating the low blood sugar as a fluke. now if i could only get them to drop the physical theraapy i'd be awesome.
- and that's what makes you an awesome nurse. you actually care about those around you. that's getting rare in these covid filleddays. :Dwhen you went to the doc for your weight issues did they immediately suggest the surgury? my diabetes used to be diet controlled but an illness 2 years ago put that to a stop. i tried the paleo and keto diets but the cost was prohibitive. i couldn't justify it when i could eat the same mealsmy family were and save money. the hardest things to do was to get my hubby and youngest son to eat a vegetable. their idea of meals were mac and cheese with hot dogs, spicy chicken breast with nothing else, pizza rolls and cheesy potato rounds. i haven't completely reformed them yet but i'm still working on it. it was so much easier when i did the grocery shopping.
oh, i hope all those lotions and soaps don't have the ingredient in them that gave you that rash...
I haven't read anything by Agatha Christie but have watched Murder on the Orient Express (original, not the remake). I don't tend to do mysteries as I'm so bad at guessing what's actually going on.
I guess the exception is mystery if it's mixed with another genre like horror or sci-fi.
I try to appear polite but I try and keep my focus on something else during the inspections. It's a small house so there's really no place for me to hide away in.
oh i don't mind weird movies, i like movies and saw some weird ones. I always try and give them a try.
Ahh thanks. We have a press con, this evening to see if the lowckdown will be gone, so far what we are hearing it will be, but some restrictions will stay, masks, distance, etc. If so i wanna take my mom out to dinner as a thank you and for her birthday, feb. 1st (last and this year)
The doctor was the final step in my weightloss journey, i tried loads of diets, etc and nothing helped. Then when i was fed up i talked to my doctor and he suggested the obese clinic.
Lol those are not good foods, but tasty. I sometimes eat those thing as i am not on a diet anymore but i eat much less. My freezer loves me lol!
And the items i chose are ones i had before, so no rash, lol!
Did you get a gastric band? Is it easy to live with? I can imagine it takes a lot of time to get used to. The keto diet is basically completely cutting out carbs and thus increasing protein and fat intake. But I like some things with carbs too much to do it. I can't imagine never eating fruits. Plus some recent studies showed that doing this diet for a long time can have a negative effect on your heart, I believe.
what are you getting physical therapy for? It could be that the low blood sugar is a fluke. At least it's better than high blood pressure. I used to sometimes have low blood sugar in my teens and twenties, my GP didn't think it needed to be looked into any further, even though I fainted a couple of times. Personally I think it was probably my bowels doing something weird, which is another thing my GP refused to look into. I used to have extreme bowel pains for a couple of years, up to a degree that I wasn't able to go to classes because I couldn't sit up straight. It was always disregarded as stress. Now we recently found out my dad has Crohn's disease, after years of also being told it was probably just stress. So next time I get these pains I can actually give them proper reason to examine it.
no, i got a mini gastric bypass, a band is a no no! It needed some life adjustments but now i don't know better. And i still eat pizza, patat, chocolate, etc but less (much less). I do however always need extra vitamins and calcium (i got tablets) as i eat small portions i don't get all the nutrients but i don't mind. And i still go out for dinner but i order small items appetizers, etc. Tapas or small food restaurants are the best for me.
And we all need carbs, fruits, etc. As they hold stuff we need, i agree the diet is good for a while but not a long time.
Yay for getting the lockdown more down! Already made a reservation for a restaurant (de zoete inval in Zwolle, my hometown) for me and my mom. It serves small portions and great for me. Going on thursday.
- 10 little indians was made into a movie with the same title. i think there are more than 1 version so, if you're interested, search for the one in black and white. i like mystery everything, not because i can figure them out because i usually can't these days, but because the suspense is lovely. especially in the older, black and white, versions because they don't have cgi to fall back on.:) whenever we have an inspection my hubby tells me in advance and i'm thoroughly medicated to helpme get through the day. XD
-my doctor is recommending physical therapy because this is the fourth time in 2 years that i've fallen over and injured myselfwhile trying to walk. .as for diets, i can't live without carbs. i find that when i try to control or eliminate them i end up binging.so that quickly eliminated the keto and paleo diets for me.now i just try to get the healthiest item from the ones available and if it's got a lot of carbs i try to exercise them away. which i haven't been able to do since october because of one sprained ankle or the other. :)
- oh, good. no iminent rashes is a good thing. :) how did you handle the hunger with the gastric bypass? did you just eat more than 3 times a day? i figure you're stomach is still there , just bypassed, so you have a smaller area to fill but you still get the hunger pains from the bypassed portion? oh, how nice for you to be able to take your mom out for her birthday! i hope you both have a wonderful time. i've never been to a tapas restaurant. what is it like?:D
Hello again. I have been lurking again. We are in another dang inversion with bad air and atmospheric pressure so I am light headed. I had a cold too, not Covid as I took a test. Been drawing and doing crochet.
I hope the pt works. I can’t do without carbs either. I actually got so light headed and tired and passed out even though I had enough calories. All metabolisms are different. We just have to try things.
I couldn’t have that surgery. Just my mind can’t. You are brave.
and evilredduckie it also goes under the name “and then there were none”. It is a play, several movies, and several episodes of tv shows. There have been sci-fi adaptations in popular shows too. Put people on an island cut off from escape and all communications. People start being killed one by one. One of them is a killer or more than one or a hidden person. Tensions and suspicions run high.

CGI is good but can be over used. The Thing prequel was original going to have practical effects like John Carpenter's The Thing but the studio decided to use CGI instead. It was...it wasn't the good CGI. I really wish they would release a version of The Thing prequel with practical effects and the original ending.
Luckily the people that were making the practical effects for The Thing prequel were able to make Harbinger Down (2015).
If a mystery has good characters I'll enjoy it. I tend to know if a mystery is bad if I can figure it out XD
I'm glad you didn't have Covid. Brian and I have felt sick and there's always the fear that it's Covid.
Ah. Sometimes stories are iconic enough that they inspire other works in other mediums.
Cute artwork you've made :)
I'm sorry to hear about you falling over so much. Do you feel like physical therapy is helping you keep your balance more? I can't live without carbs either, so right now I'm just trying to reduce them. I have to admit that I did overeat a lot the past two years. Working from home makes it so easy to walk to the kitchen and grab something whenever I need a small break.
and evilredduckie That was the first Agatha Christie book I read! I believe I was still in elementary school at the time. In university I was in a play with a similar story called Tiptoe through the Tombstones. It was about a family of professional killers being called to their old spooky house by their lawyer. There's a cleaning lady and a butler to help them and of course a storm breaks out so they're all stuck at the house. In the evening a clown knocks on the window because his car broke down and they let him in. Soon after that one by one people are killed. Since the family are all professional killers, there are many suspects, and they all turn on each other. It was a really fun play to be a part of.
I'm happy things are open again! I hope you'll have a nice evening with your mom! Nice that you can still eat everything after the mini gastric bypass. One of my colleagues is now on the waiting list for that operation, but she said it's really complicated for her because she also has diabetes.
Howdy KSrs
Been super busy inbetween bouts of the sads for lack of sunshine. Had to shovel snow twice this week, Finally unpacked all the boxes from the sale of my mom's house in NJ. Am super sore from both those things. So out of shape. But getting stuff done a bit at a time. Will need to clear out the kitchen and combine it all with the items from the other house and see what stays and what goes. Likely will being doing that for most rooms for the next several months.
I also need to change my eating habits permanently. I've looked at keto but all the online information is pretty overwhelming. I just got a food scale so when we get the kitchen sorted that will be where I start. Trying to keep track of what and how much I eat along with cutting back on any refined sugar. That's the plan. Might too have to ask for/find professional help down the road. I don't like to ask for help though.
My goodness. I am so glad you're okay! Hope the extra physical therapy helps. It should. Why does the overlord not want you to have the laptop? Do you need to use your ankles to make it work? xD
Glad you don't have covid again. ❤ The drawing is terrific and the puppy is so dang cute!
“Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.” - Benjamin Franklin

Hello folks! I recently returned to Subeta, and am interested in finding some new friends on here. Should I err on the side of filling out the questionnaire, or hanging out to get to know y'all a bit first?
I happened to see that you were talking about keto. I haven't done it for a while, but it was something I tried a while back for chronic illness reasons, so I may be able to help you sort through all the different info. I do recognize that I am a perfect stranger on the internet, so best wishes either way! :)
EDIT: What timing, I realize I somehow snagged the last post on your board. I'll keep an eye out for a new one in the next little while. 😓
