- i know, there's nothing much you can do and if you complain then the bosses think you'll complain about everything. i'm glad you get compensated for it. that's something at least.
can you get your booster on your own? or do you have to do it through work? sometimes i could get my hep boosterfrom my private doctorwhen work work was too busy or didn't have enough vaccine to go around. he'd just give me a paper to give them saying i got the vaccine and work was ok with it. this was 20 years ago and your work/health system isn't set up as ours is so you may not be able to do it. i hope you get your booster soon since you work with the aged. don't need you or them getting sick. the new variant is wrecking havoc already. :(
I fed him and Navi millet so that he didn't notice when Brian took the egg.
Oh, he laid another egg sometime today. I got some calcium rich food for him and we're both hoping to figure out how to curb his egg laying ways and that he doesn't experience any complications.
Things can go wrong when a bird lays an egg as it weakens them. So I'm going to be a panicked momma bird until this is all over XD
well i think i can get it on my own, but getting an appoinment is horrible. The lines are always busy. Friday and still no letter to get a booster, i asked my co-workers today and no one got an letter. We are all complaining about it, taking way to long.
Tonight dinner at my parents then me and mom are going into town and walk the christmas light walk. In town at various places they place christmas items/figures with lights in them. Like santa, rudolph, christmas tree.
- you're entitled to act like a worried mama bird. any idea why this started to begin with? i mean, i know birds have been laying eggs for thousands of years with no trouble, but why did jora start doing it now?birds don't feel the "biological clock" like we do, do they?
- does your workplace usually take this long to do something like this? if you're really worried about it, go get it yourself. that will keep you safe. that's what's important. it sounds like you have a pleasant night planned. i always loved to see everyone's christmas decorations. in the town here there is a historical district full of victorian, georgian , and edwardian homes. the owners decorate them inside and out and then let the community walk through to see what they've done. it was one of my favorite things to do for the holiday. have fun! :D
Jorah was "in the mood" recently. He holds his butt up high and makes a squeaky sound. It's that time of the year for him. But he's gone through this cycle before and hadn't laid an egg.
It could be he's attracted to Navi (fellow cockatiel) and that's what caused him to lay eggs. We're trying to keep them more separated than usual and changed some things in his cage AND are keeping it colder than normal to try to make him stop.
- thank you for explaining all this. i'm really very bird-stupid. i'm also used to pets (cats and dogs) being neuterd. but i guess there is no way to neuter a tiny bird. i hope one of your tricks work and put jora into a safe form of bird menopause. your poor little bird, this must be so difficult for him. :(
any luck with the cw pawnshop sale? nothing on my wishlist is in it. :( plus, it's causing massive lag and 504 errors. i'm beginning to think it wouldn't be a subeta successful subeta event unless the site errored out in some way.
I'm having to take a crash course in bird reproduction so I haven't been aware of somethings until a few days ago XD
I think there's a surgery to help stop birds from laying eggs. But since birds are so fragile, it's dangerous. I don't think the surgery works like a dog/cat being neutered.
- it's nice of things to just up and slap you in the face to show you exactly how much you don't know of something. honestly, if jora were my pet he'd be at the vet right now. they'd all be laughing but at least they'd know what to do. o.o XD good luck
I called a vet the day after he laid his first egg to make sure of what to do. If Jorah lays another egg we'll take him to the vet to make sure he isn't damaging his body. And maybe get more advice on how to stop him from laying eggs.
i have no idea why they are taking there time. BUT! I just found my letter in my mail. Have to sign up for the booster and as soon if there is a spot i will get a text on my phome. Wanna bet it will be or when i am working and can't leave or in the new year.
It was nice last night saw rudolph, santa, sleigh, reindeer, present all in lights in twon. Shame the shops and streets where not decorated good. Would ove to see those houses you are talking about.
Well just heard the news... the new covid strain is going round fast and hard. Tonight another press con from our prime minister, and by the looks of it not good news but a hard lockdown. So the upcoming holidays will be no fun at all.
Here we go again with the lockdown :( I'm really unhappy about it as well. Had the last choir practice this afternoon. We had all sorts of concerts planned but everything was cancelled :(. Nice to hear you can get the booster shot soon. I hope you're staying safe at work!
The job interview was alright. So was the second an third interview, but now I find myself doubting whether I actually want the job. I have a feeling I'm overqualified and will get bored within half a year. I was interviewing with a start-up, but I feel like for the product they're developing I wouldn't be willing to go the extra mile, so I'll probably let them know I won't be working with them after the weekend.
Also it's been a crazy week at work. We have this thing where we plan all the work for the next three months in one week. But the amount of work that's the input for the planning would easily take a year, so everyone starts debating over which job is most important, and I somehow found myself at the center of the debate. This is also why I want to leave my job. Every three months I find out that the work I've been preparing for the teams was basically useless.
Can't you give birds hormones so that they won't lay eggs anymore?
ugh not a happy camper here. Again everything is closed and we can’t do stuff with Christmas. And me and all the health care workers are working out butts off, no booster shot yet (for me), no pay raise and short staffed. You think after 2 years they would know…, Bummed out now
I really feel bad for all the health care workers! Everyone in health care deserves a pay raise in my opinion. Let's just hope that they will be able to give every one a booster shot quickly, and also vaccinate the children.
- ugh. i wouldn't want to work there either if everything i did turned out to be futile. if i felt the way you feel about the new job i wouldn't accept it either. as for your current job, can't you take the realization that your work was for nothing and turn things around to make it worthwhile again? there must be some way to avoid doing all that work just so that in 3 months you can realize how pointless it was. am i making any sense? my brain isn't working right today.
- yeah, that's probably when it will come. it always happens like that. the booster is important to your life as well as work so you should throw a fit if they won't let you leave to get it.i wish i could show you the historical houses. i'll see if they put it on the internet. i know what you mean about the streets and shop windows being decorated. when i was little we'd spend christmas at my grandmother's house. there was a very large macy's store downtown that would decorate it's windows with scenes of santa's elves and the north pole. the other stores around it did similar things turning the downtown area into a wonderland for kids. we would go down and walk from window to window marveling at the scenes. i'm glad you got to see all those lights and decorations. it makes the holiday that much more fun!
- is jora doing better today? i hope you're both doing well . :D
hear hear! I just got my letter today for the booster had to sign up and now on waithing line… Pfff if it was me I got it now
oh I wish I could see it to. Sounds great!
I think it's just the way things are organized at my current job. I'm an analyst who determines what the software developer teams need to do and how. I get my requests to prepare work for the developers from the business side of the company. So whenever I get a request I start doing research and meeting with the software teams involved. And then at the quarterly planning it turns out that the topics I prepared were less important than the requests my coworkers got, so most of the work I've been preparing gets pushed back on the agenda.
I think this is what happens when you have too many business people and too few development teams. I actually got a lucky this time, because one of my topics has become the second most important for the next few months, but this means that one of my teammates has to wait another three months for his project to be developed.... There are projects that keep being postponed for over a year, and it's really bumming everyone in my team out at this point.
One of my goals for the next year is to find a more meaningful job, but so far the search hasn't been easy.
Do you know how long the wait list for the booster is?
- i wish i could show it to you but they don't do it anymore. that macy's is the only store left in the downtown shopping area. since no one else is around and the neighborhood is bad now they stopped doing it. they had to focus on making it safe for customers to shop there instead. sad really. my government used to set up a lovely christmas display on the mall in washington dc. they used to have a santa and elves with the reindeer (live ones) plus 1 lighted christmas tree per state (50). i don't think they do it anymore because of budgetary reasons. oh well, at least i have the memories. :D
- crazily, i understand what your talking about. you're the go-betweenbetween design/management and implementation. you take the designer's ideas and work up a schedule for the programmers to make it so. or have i got it wrong? i wish you luck in finding a meaningful job. many try but never find one.i loved my job, when i could work, but it was still frustrating at times. good luck, hon. :D
Yes, that sounds about right. I used to be a developer myself, but I wanted to be be closer to where the decisions were made so I slowly moved into this analyst position. I like the work, but if it turns out to be useless every time, that's really not motivating. Thanks for the luck! At least there's a shortage of people almost everywhere over here, so I can be a bit picky.
- there's a shortage over here too. shame it's notin your job field. mainly the shortages over here are minimum wage jobs . none of the previous minimum wage workers want to go back to work since the covid unemployment pays them better. that whole situation is wrong and no one knows how (or is willing) to fix it.
There are different ways to make them physically unable to lay eggs. But I don't want to turn to them unless I have to.
We're set to see an emergency vet on Tuesday just to get a professional opinion.
He lay egg number three tonight.
He's sleepy a lot of the time and needs to start eating the special calcium food I gave him. More than he does.
