I'm not a fan of this revamp. It doesn't make me say 'wow' like some of the others have. There's something off about it. I almost feel like the revamp is too...humanoid?, instead of being a little critter. The head also seems too large for the body. The wings need some love, too. I don't think they're working. I think they need to be more like bat wings, instead of being like...protrusions of flesh with zero flight capability. Looking forward to seeing what you guys can do! C:
It is much better than the original but I do have one kinda large critique (other than the neck being fairly nonexistent) in that the face perspective seems like it changes midway through the face or the charlie has a shallow head

I love this proposed revamp so much already! Echoing everyone about the wings looking plasticy. I think the head should either be shrunken more, or make the body larger to handle the big head. At least the head looks too large for the tiny body beneath it. xD
I think the ebil grin should be dialed back a bit, just to make it slightly more adorable and less menacing.
I don't know if it was mentioned in the newspost or here at all yet...but how about a species name change for the Charlie? I've heard or read long ago the Charlie is supposedly a Torrey "gone bad"...so maybe use that as a starting place for thinking up a new species name?

I am digging the menacing little grin. However I think you should keep the scar on the left leg and maybe make that cute little tuft of hair on the right a tad more noticeable. However I love it anyways
i love this revamp in general!
though i'll have to echo what others have said and that the wings look... kinda out of place? i feel like they are too simplistic and don't look very much like wings. especially when compared to the torrey's. i'm also not particularly fond of the pimple on its right ear. it looks kind of gross imho. ; D ;
Lots of improvement from the old one in genreal but the first thing I noticed was that it looked very off proportionally, as many others have already stated. The head looks way too large. If that could be sized down a bit, I think it would look a lot better overall.
Ping is [-parade]
I think the old facial expression and the new position of the hands should be combined. The expression is way too 'extreme' now.
love:
not so great:
I will echo sentiments that the head is a little too large for the body (or at least, it appears that way), and that the wings do look a little like plastic.
Other than that though, I think this is a vast improvement and I think my only suggestion would be to lengthen the teeth just a smidge to make them more pronounced. The older art has no real defined mouth, so the teeth stand out in stark contrast, which I think the new art lacks.
Awesome job artists! :D

I love the edit to the wings you did! It would definitely be more appealing if the wings were defined to look like actual wings lol
I think the expression is great, but a little much. Compared to the old, it's less mischievous and more... unhinged? Eager to rain evil on someone? Most of all, I miss the charm of the old one's bottom-heavy design. The squat legs, the drooping wings. One last thing, the new one's head seems lumpy and sits rather awkwardly on top of its shoulders. I'm happy that the Charlie is getting an update, regardless.
I do like the new proposed version a lot more than the older version, but I do think that the wings need a little touching up. They just look a little odd to me, but I can't pinpoint what or how exactly how. Some suggested veins in the wing and I think it could work, though I'd have to see it too xD
It also looks top-heavy to me, sort of like a bobblehead or something. I think it may be because its body looks so skinny. Those are just my two-cents!
Really good revamp so far! The face and mouth have nice depth to them. I'm excited to see the new recolors for this guy.
There's something about the perspective or the way the ear with the wart connects to the head that bothers me though and like a lot of others, I'd love to see more definition on the wings. Currently, they look like they're filled with liquid. Also glad to see you left off the random veins on them.
The one on the left is better in my opinion. His face is more diabolical and it suits him. If you wish to apply a revamp to him, then add more detail into the wings and body. Most of the detail is centered on his head.
I love and adore the more evil grin and devious pose of the revamp. I really hope that you won't tone it down or cute-ify it just because some people seem to think the common pose shouldn't have any personality. It seems to me that this has always been the basic nature of the species itself (like a little imp or demon). If someone thinks it's too extreme or scary, they can get a different species that isn't extreme and scary. Common pose doesn't have to mean boring and expressionless.
A name change was suggested. PLEASE don't ever. Not that i expect you were planning on it anyway, but i felt the need to address that since it came up. The name is one of the most important things about the species to me.
The only thing i think still needs work is the wings. I agree they're too puffy and un-wing-like. I liked the suggestions to make them more membranous and bat-like and maybe bring back the veins. I don't think they especially need to look functional for flight, just not so swollen. More than that, though, the angle of the far wing just seems really wrong to me...i think the old positioning looks better (although maybe not perfect). Now it looks like it's holding both its wings at wildly different angles from each other and that's odd.
Overall, i think it's a great revamp though and i'm excited about it!
i love the new expression, it's my favorite part! and the way the hands are clasped really fit in with the overall shady character look. The only thing i don't like are the wings and the missing leg stitch. I get that the wings were kind of a blank slate before, you can't really tell what kind they are, but i think with this level of detail it would be good to go ahead and give them some kind of actual wing definition, whether that be feathers, membranes or even furred.
I haven't gone through the thread yet, but while I love the feel of the new design, it doesn't sit well with me, in some ways?
I would MUCH rather have plantigrade back legs. It's always had feet like that before, and the new art feels very off-balance. And if I remember correctly, the Charlie is in some ways supposed to be an anti-Torrey, which is plantigrade in new art as well as old. Bipedal digitigrade things often have this off-balance feel to me, though; and I feel like plantigrade feet will give it stability, and will make the head seem in proportion.
The right shoulder feels way too far forward? And I feel like it's neck disappeared. Other than these things, I quite like the character it gives (though I always picture Charlies as a mange-ridden alley cat), it's just that some anatomy feels off. If that makes sense. My big thing is the change in leg structure.
