I like that the pet has retained and improved on its malevolent look. Often revamped pets lose this and either get a cutesier or bland expression, and all y'all didn't go there this time.
I am now honestly not sure what's sticking out the back of it. Are those shoulderhorns? With the older art style it was possible for me to guess that those were wings tacked on as an afterthought, but they still didn't look like anything recognizably anatomical or animallike to me. I didn't really care because Festers were (at that time when I was first new nine years ago) much better at being malevolent and possibly predatory so I never gave it much thought. So now I truly don't know.
One of the appeals of the Charlie over other pets is that it defaults scruffy fur. This has been de-emphasized in the new version and the haunches of this pet no longer even show the scruffs. There's hints of it still on the head and chest but if you didn't know they were supposed to be there you might not guess. I think this design would be improved with some hair lines on the haunch.
Another appeal of this pet is that it has those scraggly whiskery things. The upper right one is now hidden by the ear art. This might be a good naturalistic place to put this whisker given the head's current rotation, but it's not so graphically interesting. Maybe give this whisker another kink so that it doesn't overlap?
oops, pasting my comment bc i don't read:
i'm digging the conniving hand rubbing. yesssss. also the smarmy, mischievous face. yes.
the wings tho. what if they were made more bat like, thus functional? i've always thought the wings were tumor-y looking.
kudos on the pose though. i feel like they're an extremely hard animal to pose and draw. i wouldn't be able to execute it unless i put it on all fours.
I agree with what everyone said about the wings. I'm pretty sure no Charlie could fly with those any better than I can fly by flapping my arms. Unless Charlies are like puffins and just aren't meant to use their wings, it just seems awkward to me.
I also liked how the original design seemed less... menacing, I guess? The narrowed eyes, open smile, and thinner/more defined body make the new one feel more malicious than mischievous. That's more of a personal preference in the Charlie than a critique though! If the new design was intended to make them more menacing, it's great.
I agree, less plastic looking wings. I love the look overall, great shading and HUGE improvement in general. Anatomically though, the head doesn't sit right on the neck/might be a tad too large? The forearm of the paw that's pushing into the other paw is a little off as well, the line is too high making it look almost like a bicep. I know this is super nitpicky so I apologize for that. I do love the design :)
I like the new one a lot, the face and pose are awesome. I like how he looks lean and mean. I don't miss the hairs coming out of the mole either.
The wings are the only thing that strike me as weird/not perfection.
The wings feel a bit plastic, but that's my only real criticism! I'm not a fan of the ear wart, but that's just personal preference XD
Love the pose/expression, but the wings seem a bit odd. The shading for one, and also the way the curve meets the split of them creates this super thin spot that feels like the end of the wings will fall off.
I'm really liking the updated Charlie so far. Things I'd propose: -slightly smaller head, it really is gigantic and must be difficult to hold up -possibly thickening up the upper legs a tad bit, and maybe adding back the stitches and/or some haunch tufts
Posted this on the news feed, but here it is again jic!
New one's def better in terms of expression and shading. I'm wishing the wings looked a little more interesting or had some other detail to them that made them look like actual wings of some kind. And with the thinned down legs, it kind of makes the head look too large for the body. Plus with the hard line between the head and shoulder, and essentially no neck, it looks like someone just picked up a random head and put it on the wrong body. Otherwise, I think it's definitely an improvement.

Now I'm kind of torn, because at first I really loved the new facial expression. But I see what others are saying about it being a bit too strong on the evil/dark side, it doesn't appear to leave a whole lot of room for people to develop their pet's character as good or even neutral. I like that it looks mischievous, but maybe it is a little too strong.
Voted for revamp version.
Critiques: With the amount of detail going into the face and body, the wings are a little lackluster. They're too alike the old wings, perhaps more details in the actual wing shape and not just the shading. In terms of proportions, the amount of detail on the revamp really makes the odd anatomy more apparent. The head is quite large, especially sitting on the small shoulders. I propose widening the body to accommodate the head. It looks like the revamp has had the bottom trimmed, which accentuates the large head even further as there is more weight at the top than bottom now. The bottom should definitely be widened Additionally the pose idea itself is fine, however the bodyweight seems shifted forward too much/legs are too far back. The shoulder towards us is also shifting forward, it can be counteracted by shifting it back or carrying the back to lurch forward making him look like he is hunching on purpose.

didn't even notice the wings until i read it here... XD
I realy dig the new one! (that hand pose, that grin!) i still can't make me click the 'now' one in poll... can't get over the feeling as if it's face/right eye got punched in... DX Couldn't put a finger on it at first, had to stare at the image for a bit. Now i believe it might either be the very dark shadows/shadow-lines around the eyes. or maybe rather: the right eye of the charlie (seen on the left), could it be it's sitting a tad bit too much to the left of the head/image? (at least moving the eye on there like 3pixels to the right made it way better for me)
besides this nagging thing i can't quite place... awesome revamp. ^^

I agree that the wings look a little off. I also would like it if the scar on his leg was more defined. Otherwise, the pose and expression is fantastic!
I voted for the new one because overall I like much more than the older version......however.......I'm not keen on what looks to me like a wart on the right ear - some sore of lump anyway which doesn't look like fur. The other thing is that the head looks too smooth compared to the body. I see there is a little tuft at the front, but the rest is plastic smooth.
Overall the revamp seems awesome! but i have to echo that the wings do look a little less than stellar, they could do with looking a little less comparable to a lobster claw without its shell and plastic-y imo.
also the shading in a few spots is a little slopppy? though that might just be that muddled mid pink on the arm / thighs/ face that makes it look that way, maybe define that a little more, smooth out some of the other shading, it's nice, just needs a bit more refining, because the face looks rather finished, but shading in other places like the legs and such look rather blocky. :o
other than that I'm rather excited to see this little pink devil get revamped! good luck on the final version!

I really like the revamped version, but am echoing the "plasticky" wings. I also prefer the expression of the original (especially the eyes)--it seems more impish to me, and the new one looks more evil than mischievous.
The current Charlie is the best Charlie - though I am biased because I chose my Charlie pet specifically because of the looks. The new design looks more crazed then impish.
Overall it's a vast improvement, but the wings are a little lacking and I feel the body language is too timid. Everything seems to be drawn inward. His head is too far back (and too big with the skinnier frame he has now). Pulling his elbow out from his body a little more, and also turning the front leg out more like it was in the original would help a lot imo.
ETA: Also, the hair tuft is super awkward looking. It's too floppy, for one thing (the current Charlie almost has a Bart Simpson vibe going, with the spikes) and having it on the edge makes his whole head look lopsided. It'd work better if he either had no hair at all, or it was moved more towards the center of his head like the Telenine.
