This artwork is beautiful! I was going to ask about the wing flaps but since that's already been addressed I'll just accept the change lol
I do think the change in expression has maybe lost something? Though beautifully done, he looks as though he's curiously looking (or sniffing?) at something which would be simple animal instinct, whereas the original version had something of a conscious thought to the expression.
Other than that I'm in love with the new look. The Manchu is one of my favorite pets and I applaud the new work. Especially the wonderful fluffy fur :D

Cheers ^w^ Yeah, two strong colours with poor contrast are not good on the eyes ;A;
Definitely an artistic improvement.

I like the new one. I think it's great how perky and alert the expression seems, but it bugs me a little bit that the ears aren't pointed the same way. The eyes are so focused, but then that one ear is angled away from us listening to something else...
I like the revamp overall, but I dont like the face... it looks kind of.. worried?
Sorry about posting a crit in the news comments, I didn't see the forums link part at first.
Overall it's a very solid, adorable design but for a couple of things: Something about the pose seems off to me? Maybe bend the "knees" a bit more so it doesn't look like it's doing the downward dog pose or something. And the expression from the original is better. Other than that, super cute!
I love it. I will be forced to get pet slots to get all the manchus with this update.
I love it the only thing that could make me love it more is a longer tail c:

I think the pose looks better in the new one and I really like the fluffiness. I would for sure adopt one if you revamp it.

The update is great! The only suggestions I have:
I love the new update. :) Definitely making me consider adopting one of these. :D
I like the new head position and expression. But I am not a current Manchu owner/tied to the current design at all really.
He's also just hella cute.
That being said, this is more a species thing than an art thing: especially losing the wing flaps (not sure I knew that's what those were) it's really... just a lemur. A blue lemur, but still.
I know that some of our species are basically 'plain' animals, but they seem to mostly be older ones. Idk, it just doesn't have the fantasy (not quite the right word but I think it conveys it enough) if that's something that is part of species design/lore going forward.
Admittedly, I didn't like the wing flaps on the old one. They always looked like they were tacked on more as an afterthought than as an integral part of the design.
That said, I'm still disappointed at their removal. Even if I thought they looked bad before, in concept I loved the idea of the Manchu having them. Without them, the Manchu seems like just a lemur, not it's own species. I really like flying squirrels and other gliding animals, and I would have loved to see a revamped Manchu with redesigned wing flaps that were a more cohesive part of it's design. And I why remove them? Since basically everything else about the original design stayed, just with updated art, the removal of them comes across to me as almost...lazy? Like the artist didn't know what to do with them so decided it was easier to just get rid of them all together.
I can't say there's anything about the new one that excites me enough to want to get a Manchu. Which is sad, since I always thought that with just a little tweaking the Manchu had a lot of potential to be a pet I would love. :(
To end on a more positive note: It is cute. The overall art quality is a lot better, I like the increased fluffiness, and thank goodness that weird curl to the hair on it's head was reduced. I don't know why that dang curl bugged me so much before but it did and I'm really happy to see it gone.
I like the quality of the new design, but it's...really stiff. The old one is dynamically posed, and the new one looks like a stuffed animal, not alive at all.
I quite like the new vertion, I love the new attitude it has. And it looks like fluffy!
First off: omgyes I have been waiting for this day. Lemurs are some of my favorite animals and I love Manchus. ❤️
I really dig a lot of this revamp- the eyes and feet look more natural, the body has more definition and no more Lollipop Guild hair. The only two changes that would make this perfect to me is a longer and/or fluffier tail and a normal/happier expression. I think if the angle was removed from the eyes but the mouth was kept the same, it would have sort of an adorably quirky smile. The current expression is cute, but it looks a bit worried and I feel like specific expressions are better reserved for the special colors. I wouldn't really want to see my two looking nervous all the time. :c
Someone early on in the thread said it looked like it was doing a downward-facing dog pose and now I can't unsee it. The art itself is nice, well-shaded and well-drawn, but I think the pose, expression, and colours might need to be tweaked.
I love how the new design has a lot more detail. As others have mentioned, I agree that overall it looks stiff. My only suggestion would be to make sure to keep the colours bright so that the overall image doesn't come off boring :)

ok first off, the ANATOMY IS SO MUCH BETTER NOW. the old Manchu looks like it has no neck-- its head is just kinda awkwardly squished on its shoulders. the legs are positioned a lot better, the pose is definitely more stable-- and again, the anatomy!! the tail doesn't look as boneless, and generally, it still looks soft and pleasant without straying too far into the childish, cartoony territory, which I feel the site is gradually pulling away from, aesthetic wise. my main issue is with the change in expression and overall attitude. the new Manchu seems nervous, hesitant maybe? maybe it ties in with its species lore, but it is a drastic change from the playful, cheeky expression on the old Manchu. if it has a rhyme and reason, I'm all for it! I like how the nervousness is shown, it's subtle and not outright cowering.
