i really like this revamp. It remains cute and simplistic like a hikei should be. However i still have a problem with how it seems somewhat bulky on the hikei's chest and tummy. However it is very nice in facial expression.

I wasn't aware we were opening art auditions for drawing a Hikei.

Red lines are one thing (and really, I think far more respectful if they were mailed directly to the artist), but wow, talk about not caring about anyone's feelings when you flaunt your own version.

I'm all for creative expression and realising your own ideas, but I'm also all for tact and having a little respect.

This one is better than the older revamp. There is a few things I would change thought. The butt looks a little too big and maybe change the front legs and hooves. I love the old zeebraish hairstyle and I would like it back.

GonzoMonster: there may be some problems with this revamp that you don't like but that was by far one of the rudest comments i've seen so far on a possible revamp. Artists are looking for helpful crits not outright bashing.

I'm not much of a Hikei fan in the first place, but this is pretty cute. My only suggestions would be to make the tail(s) longer and the orbs more prominent. That, and possibly make the mane more mohawk-ish. Otherwise, the new Hikei is adorable. Awesome work. c:

It's absolutely HIDEOUS, the old one is far superior, what is up with that head? Short little pug nose, ew. It's my fave subeta pet, please don't screw it up with this awful revamp! I'll have to potion my pet to something else!

I'm sorry if I will sound a bit rude in this comment, but it's just my spoken opinion.

I don't like the main as it is too rough and shaggy like, I prefer the mohawk like style.

The tale would look good a bit thicker and longer.

The stripes could do with some extending and maybe just a few less as well.

The front legs look a bit odd, sort of bumpy but the hooves are good.

The back legs look alright, but the toes are a bit odd to me...

Then again all this is simply my opinion. Don't take it hard because this is how I normally give criticism, I tried my best not to offend...really sorry if I have :S

I'll be honest, something about this one really bothers me :/ The mane is too short and scruffy, and the ears are almost elven.

I prefer neither. I agree the Hikei needs to be revamped, but please, NOT like this! The legs look chunky and stout, the eyes/face is somehow very off, the mane is like buzz-cut short, and honestly, the whole thing just gives off the appearance of a dog. :/

I'm not even kidding, this is one of my favorite revamps. I don't understand why everyone is saying it's flawed, I just love it. The face is absolutely adorable, and even if it doesn't resemble a horse/donkey as much as you would like, it's just plain lovely. I'm loving the eyes.

I voted for the new one.. :] I do have to agree, however, that the mane looks a little off. Specifically between the ears, it looks shorter then the rest of the mane.

i also want to point out how the DM and RB hikeis were drawn. they have pretty recent revamps and aren't in need of new ones, so maybe the new common colors hikei revamp could look a little more like those

I just want to say that the people who are drawing completely new hikeis maybe should have applied for artist if they dislike the revamps so much, though i also want to say that this isn't my favorite revamp, i feel like its a little to stiff looking and the ears aren't as detailed as i feel they should be

The body on this one is better than the older ones..but the head is just too weird..its face is square, and not long enough..its mane is WAY too short..and the ears make it look like an elf. I know Im being critical but the Hikei is my favorite pet on this site, and I have 3 of them..I dont want to have to get rid of my Hikei's, but looking like the revamp will cause me to do that, if it isnt fixed

I like the stout, heavy boned look of the revamp. I never saw the pet as a graceful pony really. XD More of a sturdy draft/shire horse/mule for the equine influence, so this fits that very well.

On the one hand, the quality of the art does seem better; on the other hand, I don't like how fat the thing looks; but on the third, mutant hand, I don't own any Hikeis, though I believe you can come up with a far better design for it than this one.

Why is everyone trying to make it a horse? If a Hikei was a horse it would have PAWS for hind-legs

...but all points aside, while I did vote for the new one, I like some of the red lines that have been done, specifically what was done to the body to make it slimmer, the making the tail and mane longer.

I like the revamp. It's cute and it's more detailed and it looks like a little baby zebra horse/fantasy creature and I just like it.

I just wanted to draw the hikei, I dont even suggest using that but it looked like fun so lol I figured while drawing it too using all the refferences of the original and the past revamp propositions, I could get an idea what I would argue for critique, and like I said, I only see real flaws in the face? I understand guys its not a goshdarn horse weve made that obvious but you have to be dipping your eyes in acid to not see that it is suppoesd to be a fully equine face? ^^'

Man! I'm so angry, I was doing a redline and photoshop decided to die too angry to open it again. But I'll try to summarize the changes I did...

Before I say anything, I was doing a redline because my English is not the best, its not my native tongue and I'm still learning...therefore, it's easier for me to express myself using pictures...seeing as my vocabulary is extremely narrow. So, please forgive me if I can't make myself clear enough. u_u

I think this revamp is not the best that has been proposed, but it can definitely go the right way. I'm a firm believer that us, the users, can help in that.

Okay, let's start. I'm sorry if this is too long, but I -really- want to help to make this better...after all, I joined for the pets.

Overall Body structure - I believe what makes this seem unproporcionated is the tummy/back area. The column is way too high and arched, making it seem like it has no neck at all. The flat tummy, while it's not bad by itself, accentuates this idea. Elongating the body/rib area is something that would help a lot, right now, it looks squished together even though there are quite a lot of "free" pixels width-wise. I know it's cartoony, but it should be able to live in its world - therefore, some vital stuff should be in its chest (lungs, heart, stomach), which right now looks like it could barely hold its heart.

Front legs - As other users have already mentioned, the joints are too knobby. I understand the artist tried to fit all the joints a real horse/mule/donkey would have, but smoother lines would give a much more harmonic feeling to the drawing as a whole, especially considering everything else seems to be a softer curve (back, tummy, back legs and neck). Also, the shoulder that's farther from the viewer wouldn't normally protrude that way and maybe the pose would look better if the legs where just a tad closer, but that's a personal opinion. Pose - A bit too stiff, but it's alright. After all, it's a common color. Back legs - I'm almost sure they are based off of a feline's..? If I'm wrong, please correct me, but the toes bother me a bit. Perhaps they are too thin or small? Don't take me seriously on this point though. The line that goes from the angle to the paw could be a bit straighter, just to avoid the "slipping" feeling

Head - I think this part is the best in the whole drawing, so I don't have much critique to give about it. maybe making the snout end in a more diagonal line...

Ears - Also pretty good, I'd add a "rim", you know, the cartilage on the border? Just to make it have more shape.

Mane - I don't know why the mane changed so much, considering that in the last revamps it was kept pretty much the same way - mohawk-style. I agree with most users; it should be kept the way it was...Considering the Hikei/My little Hikei items have it, it would prevent much item-not-fitting-with-pet. Tail - Give it shine, and separate the strands. Colours - The blue in it is nice, I like it, but the off-white looks VERY gray in the white background. More shading would help define masses more, right now, they don't help much. Also, the hooves are too shine for my liking, like they are made from some precious metal or something

Pros (yes!) - The eyes, they seem so alive - The art quality is better, and fits more with the current (revamped) pets on the site.

Artists - Keep up the good work! =) I really appreciate that you let us comment on possible revamps. ^.^

I'm back! Now my reasons as to why this won't do...

The body is far too bulky/round. I understand horses are round but their back isn't hunched over.
The style is too inconsistent with the rest of the pets.
The hind legs look like they're sliding on something...
The image itself is far too small... You got an easy six pixels on either side, width wise. :/
The stripes are too few and in between. The ones on the back should come down more. WAY more.
The mane while more zebra like, needs to be fuller... Kind of like the festers hair do only longer and goes down the back a bit.
The pose itself is rather dull and boring (shut up I know "cool" poses are for special colors but there's no reason why this can't have SOMETHING) and I have to say, the revamps the users have done are a vast improvement. You should really hire one for a day so you can use their work. XD

Now I try my damnedest to try and list both pros and cons but this revamp... proves to be a challenge. I'm not saying it's totally ugly or anything it's just there's nothing I really like about it.

I suppose the face is a good improvement and I do feel this is a step in the right direction but there's room for improvement.

BTW, why isn't the original artist on staff anymore?

I like how everyone is referring to horses but THE HIKEI IS NOT A HORSE. IT IS A HIKEI, NOT A FREAKING HORSE/DONKEY/WHATEVER. K' Just thought you needed to hear that, because I feel like everyone is referring to Horse anatomy when a Hikei is not a horse. It is a HIKEI, not a horse so stop referring to them as horses. I feel like the only one who realizes this.

sorry to say this aswell but i really don't like the revamp, it's too uhh... stocky and muscluar for my liking and i think the mane should be a bit longer and should flow instead of sipking like it's trying to be a punk or something around those terms.

Ugh... I voted for the new one... Just because it DOES look nicer than the old one in terms of better art, but the new Hikei itself just doesn't seem to have that cuteness the old one had. It seems to be too focused on muscule mass. I know horses are very muscular, but the Hikei isn't just a horse. It does seem to have other features according to it's back paws. Plus the old Hikei that the last artist had seemed to know the structures of the horse more than this artist does if you notice this one's belly. Horse/donkey bellies don't shape that way. They're more pot bellish. And I overall do not like the hair. It's way too spikey and thick for some reason. The hooves are too shiney, the back paw toes are too squishy looking and the tails looks like noodles. Plus I think the orbs could be a bit more bigger so you can see the details in it and have some of the light from those obs shine onto the Hikei's body like the last artist had. That would make the Hikei more cuter and appealing to everyone I think. I think you guys should try to keep to the last person's style. I don't see why you can't if it was a good concept. It was certainly a way better piece than this Hikei try. Sorry guys.

I'd also like to add that I prefer the light pink on the nose to end on the top lip like the old hikei. Having the darker pink covering the whole muzzle just doesn't look as cute or sweet.

Well for the (front) leg up, I don't much care for that idea, simply because its ... too over-done, maybe if you changed the pose to a side view, like TheseHeights has drawn. but not in that position. Or maybe a back leg in the current pose.

I'm sorry, but I don't ccare for another pet with nearly the exact same pose as a few other resent redraws. (malticorn, ruffie, for instance)

Just my two pennies.

I really love it and it looks like an adorable little fantasy-donkey. Well done! I love it's expression and how it looks ready to play.

BUT, I think it looks very gray (dusty almost). I know that the original has this same effect, but I really don't care for it.

And on a more personal note... I wish the stripes were longer/more in number. The body is a little boring. :
