Wow, I'm back on Neopets for the first time in...10 years? While it's full of nostalgia, the whole site is clunky. Half is still broken!

There's been a resurgence of older players coming back, according to the Neoboards. That's neat, I found a lot of old friends the last couple weeks. I spend most of my time on Neo wanting to refer people to Subeta! Every issue I see brought up, Subeta has already taken care of. The quality of life here is amazing. LINKS EVERYWHERE. The ability to customize navigation. Some of the Neo items and descriptions are SO cringe and Subeta would have never xD

I said lmao on accident on the Neoboards and worried the rest of the evening that my 20 year old account would be frozen.

Has anyone else wandered back over since the "We're fixing it!" campaign? After playing Neo for a little bit, Subeta feels like a relief. A breath of fresh air. The stone off my shoulders. It's such a tiny site in comparison but wow, what a magical place. So well done. We whine a lot, as a userbase (we want to help Subeta improve!), but being on Neo again has really refreshed my love for Subeta and all it is.

Am I allowed to share my username here? I don't want it to be misconstrued by a mod as promotion. I just want folks that know me on Neopets to friend me here! I am mostly recognizable from the PC.

I've never played neopets but a couple of videos have come across my feed and it seems like they are making a big stir over there!

It's quite a stir! The site has been broken for so long, they're stirring up hope in a lot of us, I think. I just hope they can follow through on it. Though, at the end of the day, I suppose I don't care, because Subeta has all I want!

I just joined Subeta to get my Neopets nostalgia fix and it's been fun so far. I have no idea what my old account info is but I do remember my username (I think my email from back then has been discontinued or something). There definitely seems to be some kind of Neopets resurgence lately but I can't bring myself to create a new account there, I would have just been missing my old one lol.

I understand that feeling! Subeta is a great place to build the same sort of community and fun. With a lot of quality of life upgrades! :)

Oh man I totally agree! I actually wandered back this way this week after playing Neo again for about year (since last years advent calendar) and I have been happy to see the small trickle of improvements since management has changed hands but it honestly all sorta has a 'too little too late' sort of vibe to me especially with so much of the site remaining in a broken and half converted mess, the pervasive account security and recovery issues, the botting and the black market (selling virtual stuff offsite for irl money), and the issues that people have with billing for premium or NC mall purchases, it all just feels like too much of a disaster to be brought back from the brink if I'm being entirely honest. They also use a lot of manipulative fo-mo type tactics to try and get money out of users. The new daily/weekly quests are pretty rad and seem to be a good solution for improving the economy but thats just a drop in the bucket really, Subeta is most certainly a relief after all of that.

I totally agree with you! I have, uh, low hopes, to say the least. It's been fun dinking about on the PC and I did find an item worth a TON that I might see if I can find a buyer for, but otherwise, there's not a lot for me to do there. Snipe on the SSW, I guess. Of course I got premium because the game is virtually unplayable for me without premium xD we'll see how long that lasts, though. I can't even really collect items like I can here because stuff is SOOO expensive! It's wild. And they took away Bilge Dice. COME ON MAN IT'S JUST IMAGES (I'm sure there's more to it lol) GIVE ME MY BILGE DICE BACK NEOPETS

It's funny, when the pandemic started, work was super slow for me. So during my shift, I would play Neopets. And... Yeah. It wasn't great. It sucks because my old account got frozen so I had to start from scratch.

I am, however, interested in Grundo's Cafe! I know it's a Neopets clone, but I've heard a lot of positive reviews from friends.

But overall, I definitely enjoy Subeta. It has a more relaxed atmosphere and people have been so much more friendly, imo!

Yeah, it's frustrating! I am not sure I'd have gone back and started a new account. I think I still play just because I'm attached to my pets on Neo!

I returned to Neo several months ago around the time there were whispers of new management. I was really enjoying being back, the community is actually still super active. I made a really great friend on there as well that I talk with daily and it helps me get through my work day. I got a soft ban the other day for a pet name that I didn't think would be an issue... so I got locked out for 24 hours with no warning or discussion and resurrected this account. I've been greatly enjoying Subeta and all that is has to offer. I still find it overwhelming. also a little sad to see how dead the boards appear to be, but I'll be sticking around for awhile now.

Gosh it's like, the ups and downs! Made a new friend, great, got a ban, bad. Subeta can be overwhelming for sure. I try to pop in the forums every day to post where I can but I agree I wish it were more like Neo in that regard.

I hopped back into neo recently which lead me here looking for alternate virtual pets games. Im having so much fun on Subeta the quality of life is just so much better. I am thankful I was able to revitalize my old neo account though.

Hi hi, I also was able to recover my neopets accounts, but they were ones from like, a few years ago instead of the really old ones. But like, I was so happy, posting on a board about why I swung back into neopets and BAM warning on my account because I mentioned youtube. Like, I didn't even post a link! I just said I was watching some stuff about neopets on there. Like daaaaaang.

Honestly I forgot how many of my old accounts were banned for roleplaying -_- goodness knows how many others for other strange things. Like, oookay? maybe loosen the noose please! But I like it here so far. First off I can have cool names and not have to worry about it being taken (as much) because so far its a smaller amount of people. Secondly the ability to make bookmarks?!?! Omg, a life saver.

I am still super lost about other stuff but I can get maybe an hour of content out of neopets and i spent 4-5 plus hours today just doing dailies! And that's without finding all of the things around the site!

I spent a ton of time last night just looking up items in the item dex for cool clothes for my little human avatar! And things are affordable, its amazing, and the daily quests give out so much that I'm able to get really neat stuff! I find it very fun.

Tho, I do have to eventually go on the help boards and figure out where the bakery is >_> I am sure that during my initial tutorial I was supposed to bake something but didn't have the ingredients then...never found my way back.

Yeah that's tough, the rules are crazy there! I find it so much easier here to communicate, and everyone keeps it very cool and safe for the most part on Subeta even with the looser restrictions.

I did like pet trading on Neopets but it's at a bit of a stalemate. Everyone is trying to trade up, and it doesn't seem like many trades are actually happening. When trades do happen, the pets are right back up for trade. The volatility that NC UC pets will bring to the market is interesting.

I've been trying out neoclones lately, which so far has been much better than what's become of actual Neopets. Agreed that Subeta has a lot more going for it though!

Agreed! For sure if I only had time for one game, Subeta would be it. But my work is so boring xD So it's nice to have a second place to hang out, albeit a worse place, lol.
