I left Neopets after the Great De-vamp but sometimes still played out of nostalgia. I left for good when I forgot my password.

That'll do it, especially since TNT is so bad about password resets. Frustrating! I've been enjoying Grundo's Cafe when I want the nostalgia factor. I'm fortunate to have gotten an invitation.

ACKKKKK yeah neo is a mess u_u it's still like fun and stuff but wowww the management is terrible and there's so little new content it just feels like a dead site. neopets is fun to like explore the history and lore and stuff but subeta is actually playable LOL plus a lot of a people threw them praise for FINALLY making the html5 switch after flash was already dead but like... other sites made the transition way before neo, they put off the transition for so long it's just like... sad. idk

also my last account got frozen because of the "duplicate acc" rule... they also froze the account i had before that and never told me why or fixed it. i wasnt like, mad, because i was a relatively new player and didn't make a ton of progress but it just like... weird

^ YES it definintely makes me sad. Sad in that way where it's a shame, you know? I watch games like Subeta and Grundo's Cafe work heavily on quality of life upgrades and such, and Neo I can't even refer friends to because explaining how to navigate to play is impossible.

The fact that almost everything that ever enters my inventory is 1 np junk really showcases the broken game for me.

Ok so i haven’t played neo in like 10 years but my mother still plays and i look on at what she’s doing sometimes and what i can’t seem to get over is that the site layout massively changed from the viacom days, but about 1/4 of the pages like…didn’t? Like WHO DOES THIS why would you change some pages of the site to a new layout but not others?? How is a site like that even functional in that state i do not understand

Also the economy is lol Not as bad as gaia got with the hyperinflation (anybody remember this OH LAWDY) but bad

YEAH! Like to update my petpage, I have to click to shops, and click my shop, and click the pic of my pet on the left to get to quick reference page, which gives me the drop down menu that allows me to select Edit Petpage. There's no way to do it from the "Pets" screen. There's buttons to feed and groom and customize them, but not edit their petpage? It's wild the workarounds that must happen to actually play the game. The games room even displays and hypes up games that are LONG offline! It's comical, truly. I play for the lols.

LOL WHAT are you serious, that is terrible…i used to have a pretty well known (at the time) graphics petpage waaaaaay back in the day and not being able to quickly edit would be a massive deal breaker for me if i were to ever play again >.< Like 8 years ago i played for a little while on different accounts for lols but now i find i can’t even do that anymore lol i couldn’t make it past the homepage last time i tried, just NOPED the heck outta there at the speed of sound :’)

The site is literally a zombie shell of it’s former self and tbh imo it just needs to die and stay dead because just knowing it’s still chugging along somehow depresses me for some reason ;n; i miss old neopets so much

Also does anybody remember neopets treasure keepers because there is not a single day that goes by that i do not pine to play it again My salty tears could fill an ocean man i miss that game so much

ALSO THE PASSWORD RETRIEVAL IS BROKEN LOLLLL people are trying to sign up for new accounts/get back in their old ones and the emails just aren't coming. They're broken. So there's that.

AND THEY TOOK BILGE DICE AWAY. It has had a note that it's down for quick maintenance that has been there for 9 years. They didn't even update the message on the page, and they still advertise it in the games room. It's an image-based dice game! Why isn't it online?! So goofy.

yeah and like, the game would be completely unplayable for new players if not for the giant omelette and the other freebie events. ntm the neopets economy is totally cracked. like i need 50,000 neopoints for this mundane restocking item. it reminds me of the GTS back in ye olde days where people would be like im trading my pidgey for giratina ^_^

I used to be on Neopets a loooooong time ago but even then I though subeta was infinitely better.

also idk if its been brought up yet but maaaaaannn remember how people begged for YEARS for the old pet designs and how there was this entire like black market in trading UC pets and then when they finally brought them back people were losing their minds about how their old UCs were "worthless" now or whatever. TNT does some weird shit nowadays but like, to that end what do you expect them to do... i don't understand how heated a lot of players get over certain things, like ftr i'm an adult and i love neo and i dont think it's a bad thing but at its core you are still playing a virtual pet game for children and like, the reaction is disproportionate

I compared the UC changes (both of them, even the original 2007 conversion) to other games in the sense that, like, games change. They evolve, it's part of the way to improve! People want things to just stay the same and it gets stagnant.

I left Neopets when they downgraded the pets with no option for me to keep the cool unique poses I liked. It felt like a betrayal, after all my efforts to have my ideal pets, now they all looked boring and not like what I paid for. Just aaaaaaaa, why, if I knew beforehand I'd lose them like that, I would not have "worked"/played so hard D:

Well, I may miss the pirates, the hellish creatures from the dark cloud(?), the furry royalty, all of the fairy pets, most the stereotypical Halloween costume ones, the ghosts, my beloved gray-depressed sad sad pets who looked like they needed a hug asap, and also some island, Egypt and prehistoric pets... But I like the pets here on Subeta more, and since everything is affordable with a little questing, I can focus on getting more pets! :D

(Still, we could get fairy pets with glitter wings here right, right? (pls faeries!!!) )

The pets here are AMAZING! I love love love the art style. They're so intricate. Almost not cartoony! And the pet slots are great, too.

Its certainly their choice to change the site as they see fit but the whole conversion thing and now charging for classic styles kinda sucks. I feel like people with pets from prior to the big conversion should have at least an option to revert some of their pets for free. Did anyone have an option to keep their pets as is when the big conversion happened?

Yeah a few of the pets stayed unconverted! If you owned one of these pets (I had/have an unconverted grey shoyru) you got the "token" to use to make them look unconverted for free. But folks whose pets were automatically converted were out of luck and have to buy the old style art (called nostalgic styles now). It's a lot to process!

Man I wish Subeta was back at peak users

I've been back into Neo since December last year and it's been fun but I'm burned out on the plot. It's just "do the same tasks every single day" plus play a broken game. Also the art is meme-worthy and while I've been loving the memes I'm disappointed in the art quality. I've almost never been disappointed in the art quality on Subeta. The art is A+++. That's one of the main things that keeps me coming back. The collections, too. Sure, you could put stuff in a gallery or your SDB on Neo but I like the official collections here on Subeta. I'm hoping to have every plushie and beanbag someday, or at least all but the unbuyable ones. Again, the art is amazing so I actually want to look through my collections and enjoy them.

Dressing up the HA is awesome! Again, it's the artwork that really keeps me here I think. I can dress up my Neopets but I don't really enjoy it all that much. It's incredibly broken. As in, items won't load or aren't aligned on the pets. Most stuff is locked behind a paywall.

Also the usefulness of the sidebar widgets + customcss.

Art here is absolutely peak! The smaller community is also nice and significantly more civil than it can be on neo. Must be the feral children running about on Neo I guess. Also diehard adult fans that probably have better things to be doing than raging over an internet pet game. I still enjoy neo but yeah its luster is lacking these days even with their efforts to revive the site. On neo I mostly work towards collecting plushies, making money and just gathering things I don't need. All the things I miss are still gone or haven't been reimplemented. The neohomes are broken, no habitarium, etc. I might write stories one day for my neopets but as of now I've dropped off playing it again. I'm more keen on writing stories for my subetapets than anything if I can get the layouts to work finally. I'm so bad with code.

Yes, my favorite things on Neo are broken also! I mostly traded pets, though I really have the pets I want at the moment. The only other thing I do is gamble and that doesn't take up much time. I spend more time on other sites for sure.
