So....no news post to mention this apparently, but now Quest Points are not random and are awarded every 5 completed quests? That's a max of 3 QP for each qualifying quest per day...which can be a nice guarantee, but sometimes I'd get more than that from quests...that's a max of 30 a day, and for folks who can't always quest (or days when the site goes wonky and quests aren't working or the site isn't working), that makes the shop items that much harder to obtain, especially when you put in random seasonal stock that is 50+ points each.
I don't particularly care for this change, but more-so it would be nice if you'd announce things like this before implementing them. This was brought up when the exchange rate for certain items was changed when fragging as well, so it seems odd to make another major change immediately after that board where its again, unannounced.
thoughts?
[edit] Supposedly this script has been in effect since May, but there was no site-wide announcement then, and the message given when receiving a QP did not state this. Also several users have reported still receiving more than one QP in a row randomly during quests, or not averaging one per every five (I know that I haven't or I'd have a heck of a lot more points to spend right now).
ALSO - this is not resetting at midnight. Click the image to see the proof larger.
I just did quests and didn't even notice that... but that seems like a really dumb change.
This is awful D:
I'm pretty certain it didn't start until midway through my quests just now, which is weird (but I swear I got a couple QPs randomly and then all of a sudden that was there the next time I got one).
I feel like any change that fundamentally affects gameplay (and since this affects how a certain currency is earned, I count it) should be announced.
That would be like them deciding that Wiz was going to drop his prize to 5 point tokens for each completed quest and only a 20 point bonus. It directly affects how much of something you may get.
I don't know if I care for the change, but I don't see the need to announce it. It seems pretty self-explanatory after seeing that quote.
I do think it should have been announced, but honestly I can't say I mind the change itself. Though I rarely manage to actually get my quests done either way.
What would announcing it on a forum accomplish? The new message explains exactly what is going on. If you do quests and notice it, you can see it's different. If you don't do quests, I don't think this would encorage you to do them.
- Hm...the 1 QP per 5 quests has been in play for awhile now. It came about after a lot of people were tired of the randomness and the continuous fiddling with percentages. I like the flat 1 to 5 ratio because honestly, I'd rather the surety than the hey maybe I could get an extra QP or none at all.
It seems that perhaps the wording got changed, but not the standard of doing 5 Quests yielding 1 QP. As long as you did 5 quests, it didn't matter if they were from different quest givers, you would get a point.
It still would've been nice to be aware of. Half the time I don't look at what I got until I'm done - its discouraging to be mid-quests and suddenly have the rate of something change on you. And again, it fundamentally affects gameplay so if it is something they'd planned on changing, they could and should have announced it with a reason for why.
It wasn't like this when I quested yesterday. Sometimes I got multiple QPs in a row, sometimes none - so I don't think it was actually 1 for every 5. I recall people discussing something like that (in suggestions/feedback on how to adjust the ratios) but it never actually being a thing that happened.
I don't think a change of the rate on this (if it was a change or just a switch to a fixed ratio) will cause anyone to change their questing habits. A reason why may be nice, but I don't think it's required on something that is obvious if you pay any attention during quests (I am guilty of not paying attention)
Why have the Site Update group if it isn't going to be utilized? This is an important change to currency and I don't understand why staff didn't bother to at least do a simple ping. Heck, lump it in with other announcements this week: a two-fer. This would've fit in perfectly with the change in fragging rarities.
On the topic of the change itself, I don't understand why this change was implemented. If anything, won't it incentivize users to hoard their Quest Points and not spend them or "sell" them to other users? I thought that was something staff was trying to eliminate. I know I certainly will be more careful with how I use mine.
Anyways, should see this. What do you all think?

everything they do is self explanatory when people are noticing it. people can read. but that wasn't the point. the point is we don't receive official notice upon changes. especially for things that affect game payout or mechanics.
I don't know why this message apparently wasn't showing up before, but the quest points have been this way since May, and the message has been in the code since July. We didn't announce a change because nothing was changed. Literally none of the files involved in this have been edited since July (and that was just the message about it on the finish screen).
Its still something they easily could have pinged Site Update about, if they chose not to announce it.
How would you feel if suddenly they decided that battle tokens would only be dropped every 100 wins but didn't bother to announce the change anywhere, just figured..eh, they'll see it eventually when they hit the minimum win count?
Its a simple thing - far simpler than actually changing the code itself - to toss out an announcement or site update ping.
And I agree with - since there's now a daily limit on how many you can get (provided you can actually maximize every single day), the price of quest items/points is going to go up, which is the exact opposite of what staff was trying to accomplish. Great for hoarders who don't buy things out of the Quest Shops, bad for the economy since things that shouldn't be outrageous will be. Its a change that should've merited some discussion with the userbase beyond suggestions/staff opinion requests months and months ago.
I usually do at least 2 quest folks at a time and I can guarantee that there have been multiple times since May that I've gotten more than one quest point in a row for one or both of the quests I'm working on, so if it was in the script the entire time, it wasn't actually functioning until the text changed tonight.
i was under the impression this was always in place for months now (Keith mentioned it somewhere, i dont recall where though). Only diff is there now is a message saying so.
edit: Grelca^^ clears it up and confirms this.
... It appears that even though I quest every day, I failed to notice this change...
What else have I missed?!

Battle tokens are so minor that I don't care at all if they were changed. and don't give them ideas, they don't let us know about any changes in battling until one of us notices anyway.
but as stated above, this wasn't even a change, the message just wasn't showing up until now. I don't think it needs an update ping or an announcement.
muahaha take away all the battle tokens forever then start putting really awesome stuff in that shop that cost more tokens than anyone has muahahahahahah
Go for it. ;)
Easy You have 1467 tokens
Medium You have 1303 tokens
Hard You have 1149 tokens
Very Hard You have 994 tokens
Extremely Hard You have 990 tokens
Impossible You have 721 tokens
changes in battling coming up will encourage more and more normal battles anyway. but that's a totally different topic! :P
I SAID THAT COSTS MORE THAN ANYONE HAS SO SHOWING ME YOU HAVE A LOT MEANS NOTHING
