That's how probability works though, sometimes it may be higher, sometimes it may be lower, but over time it'll go towards what the probability is. It balances out.

According to it was changed in May

That's just really odd...to what purpose?Limiting the amount per quest is going to amount to less opportunity for us to buy from shops(if some of the quests seem to be too costly to do,which happens a lot... i just cancel them which in turn gives me less opportunity again)...i also get 2 in a row at times so it isn't working 100% any way if it's been going all this time....seems still to be random to me...LOL

I understand how probability works, thanks. That still means the overall average should've been the same except it isn't/wasn't so it was not resting on a flat 20% probability or I would've had a much higher count on QP right now.

Yeah, I dunno how we arrived at that number or why it supposedly was implemented in May but hasn't actually been running properly that entire time. I feel like this is totally counterproductive to staff's whole attempt to stop/slow hoarding of things (like currency) but oh well, what do we know right?

Having it carry over is super ridiculous XS I mean, honestly? That's so unfair. That means even fewer quest points the next day. Not to mention 1 point every 5 quests isn't all that fair either XS I liked the randomness of it before. You sometimes go way more in a day.

Nothing changed (apart from the message)....it's still pretty random for me...

So you're saying it was less than 20% and this change is actually an improvement?

Nope, I'm saying it was random. It might average 20% for a month, but then it would drop or raise drastically. This isn't necessarily an improvement. I would sometimes get 10 QP in 30 quests and yay and other times get 4 in 60 quests....that doesn't average out to 20%. There was never a point where it was at a 20% average.

And also - its still actually broken, as its not resetting and, as Jessica just mentioned, not actually functioning that way for everyone. It just kicked in for me partway through my quests. So, its still broken, and its still something that was never announced even though it affected a large portion of the community - and the post that I had to hunt to find where Keith mentioned leveling it at 1 for 5 could have easily included a ping to the Site Update community since he was supposedly discussing and monitoring the rates as he adjusted and changed them for everyone and actually said he'd keep everyone updated when he made a decision....but 8 months have passed, it hasn't worked properly for them, and now it suddenly kicked in but not really.

Your sample size is too small to really get an accurate representation of what the rate is.

sometimes I turn in mage amulets and I get one tome in 80 amulets. sometimes I get five in ten amulets. it's just good luck/bad luck. I don't think the rates have been touched in awhile.

Then so is your assessment that it was set at 20% regardless of whether it awarded one for every five. I don't understand how my sample is too small but yours is just fine since you're using the same data I am.

Is the mage supposed to be giving out tomes at a 20% rate? No? Then it isn't relevant, is it? Seeing as how you're stating that the QP rate was 20% regardless of how it chose to award the points (1 every 5 or randomly so long as it hit the drop rate), that's the only argument that follows your pattern. As far as I'm aware, the mage rate is completely random. QPs aren't. There was supposed to be a rate, it wasn't working. There was supposed to be an announcement when a rate was decided, there wasn't.

I don't understand why it bothers you so much that we would like them to announce major changes? And also to actually follow through when telling us that things are being adjusted and will be announced when decided? What is wrong with us wanting them to actually tell us something?

It's been 1 every 5 quests for ages. I don't see why people are making a fuss now. : /

I'm not sure what everyone is so upset about. Grace said nothing changed in the coding. It's about averages not how often you get the pts.

Oh, I guess I didn&;t mention in my most recent post that it&;s been rotating people through the groups until now everyone has ended up in the 1:5 pool which I found to be the most fair.

Still watching how it ends up, but this should be the last big change to them for awhile 😄

I don't pay attention to my quests or quest points, but I have 2.6k of them. I didn't calculate or pay attention to how many I get each day. I'm just going based off of the information given to me. probabilities are hard to calculate without keeping track of your ratios each day for a good amount.

it bothers me because them telling us "hey this rate changed" doesn't mean anything more than putting a note in the quest that tells us exactly what is going on. complaining about notifying us about a change (and in this case it isn't a change as far as staff is aware) to me just seems like another thing users can complain about because users are never happy with anything. the fragging rate is a bit different, but people found out the rate changed, end result is the same. we're just too quick to blame the staff for horrible communication skills.

I would love it if we had a page of all of the small updates they make. pinging siteupdate only gets to so many users, even putting it in the news doesn't get to every user. a single page with all of the updates would be great, because all of the information would be in one place, but with the measures we have in place, people still complain about staff communication even if something does get a ping. As several folks have mentioned, it hasn't been working that way until the last few hours. I received multiple QPs in a row sometimes from the same quest-giver without hitting 5 quests between them. The change in wording and count only happened just a little while before I posted this thread. That point system is also not resetting at midnight along with quests.

are we still supposed to be able to get a quest point 2x in a row then? Because this all seems like we're not supposed to, but some of us are.

was giving his personal results from the Mage, but his ratio is essentially spot on.

The ratio has been widely recognized by people who have turned in thousands of amulets accumitavley. Statistically speaking, he is correct. The larger your sample size gets the more accurate your percentage is.

I understand this isn't necessarily relevant to the topic. But what he's saying is not hastey testing done by him so his representations and examples do hold water.

And just in case we need proof on the current error (it not resetting at midnight) - click the image to see it larger. You can clearly count how many quests I&;ve done (9) on the bar on the left:

the sidebar count does not include the one you just completed, because the sidebar is loaded before you technically complete the quest. so that quest was your 10th of the day.

I just got one on my 4th complete for the day.

Completing the quest: http://imgur.com/e7R9dhd The very next page view showing my quest count: http://imgur.com/hA0fa0c

It certainly does look like it includes the quest just completed, because that count still hasn't changed since I took the screen shots :/ that's also the only kitchen quest I've done today so far.
