After a long period of silence and general disinterest, the aeries have decided to try and rearrange their feathers a bit! What do you think?

I agree with those who said they prefer the older Arie revamp. I however really enjoy the earring also...

Either way I imagine I'll be getting one when they come out.

Wow, I thought this was a new species when I signed on today. Wah-wah. Disappointment.

I still like the cute old Aerie - but I will agree with many of the rest who have commented - I prefer the OTHER, cuter, more Feli-looking Aerie revamp. Even if it was lost, something along those lines is, I think, a better direction revamp. The transformation from cute to manly just isn't working for me. I don't see it.

If the earring is to be changed, I'd.. kind of like to see it added to the anterior edge of the ear, away from the face. It looks really, really awkward to me. I think I'd like it better where the earlobe would be, on the other side of the curve. While the art in this revamp is beautiful, I think the head is a little too small, and the front legs too dominating. Not only are they a little thick for birds' legs, they're very bright against the rest of the brown - a little distracting.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

... and by feathers, I mean the earring. Duh.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

The feathers need to go, and the tail looks like it's been pillow shaded (not to mention shaded improperly to begin with, its body would throw more of a shadow onto the tail judging from where the shading is on the front of it)... other than that, this is a big improvement.

The front legs don't connect to the shoulders correctly. They should connect right next to the wings, not in the front part of the chest. I would also like the wings to be a tiny bit bigger to reflect the majesty and power of a gryphon (which is what the Aerie is based off of). Also, I agree with some of the previous comments on the front legs: if you want to make them like bird talons, they should be thinner with longer fingers/claws, and not like a quadruped leg with scales. The earring is really cute and should stay where it is

Mmm. Move the earing down a little, to the lower part of the ear? Even if it doesn't change I like it ^^.

Muffin, the redline image looks good! I still think the front legs are a bit too thick, but the whole rear of the animal and its wings look much better and more balanced. The head's a little too small, but definitely more menacing and masculine.

Unfortunately the previous aerie revamp was (I believe) lost, not to mention the area between its legs was completely unflattering and undignified. XD

I agree with everyone who would be happy with the older revamp, with added features like the earrings and the bird-like front legs. Some have complained about the beak, I wouldn't mind if that was changed a bit too. As long as it doesn't lose it's playful expression and elegant frame. I really love the playful expression because it suits my Aerie the most. XD

Wow, just cute. I kinda love how the pets get a more "serious" look. (Well, what I mean is that non-cartoony look because other petsites are relying so hard on that ... well, it's nice to see that Subeta moves on ) If I had a free spot I would totally get one if you really change the Aeries like that

Of all the revamp options I saw, I personally like the one that's being shown currently, though I agree along with most people the front toes could look better if they were more eagle-like (as it is now, it reminds me of lion paws). I love the idea of the earring there- the fact that it's green reminds me of the old aerie versions. The earrings could also change based on the color of your aerie (for example, a pink or violet earring for a dawn aerie, or perhaps deep red for a sun version). Plus the aerie feather could also be made into an item for our avvies to wear!

While I still like the revamp the way it is, Typhoon_Muffin's redline is spot on! They're minor tweaks, but they really smooth out the anatomy. Those notches in the tails make it look less furry, more feathery. The head does look a bit more proportionate when drawn a little bigger, and the wings look proper. The earring does look a little better on the opposite side of the ear, too. I hope you guys keep the earring; that's what gives it its Aerie-ness.

Even without any tweaks, it's still excellent. It's light years ahead of the old Aerie. It's great to see this look like a "serious" pet, as there are so many cute pets around already, and the cuteness of the original Aerie just never seemed to fit. For those that still want it to be cute, there's always the Chibi version.

Great job Jag <3

I agree with Rhous and Pwnful_Darcy all the way!!!

The older revamp would look great with earrings and/or eagle feet. Just as long as it has the bird-like elegance and the playful face, I don't care what the pose looks like.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Bogart

I think many other users here pointed out the issues with the front feet, if that is fixed then this would be a really good revamp. The earring is not really my cup of tea though, would look better without it in my opinion. Would be nice if we get a poll where we can choose between earring or not earring.

That looks really nice. I love the traditional griffin pose going on and the green feather earring-like things. However, I think the wing-tips could also be green, like the previous revamp and that the front feet should look more like eagle talons. Do that, and it's perfect!

The old revamp was good work, but my problem with it is the same as with the current Aerie - it's much too cutesy and inoffensive looking. Big head, tiny little rounded beak, big ears and eyes.

I said this over in the forum thread and I apologise if I'm being redundant repeating it, but perhaps a way to give everyone the Aerie they want might be to tweak the first revamp into the Chibi version of this one?

hmm, i think if you make the new aerie, like this revamp, but with the old revamp's design, (but with the earring), should get better (: but i loved it anyway! i'm just wandering, if the common aerie has green and brown.. how should be the marsh one?

FFS Tipawhee, both the neopets version and the aerie are named after ACTUAL aeries. As in, where birds nest or roost. Specifically eagles. Lernusomeeducation.

I have a few problems with this. ._.

First off, the feather earring. The placement, size, and color bug me. Then there's the tail feathers. The one closest to us seems correctly placed, but the other one appears to be popping out of nowhere. The legs. They're... different. Plus, the first version had fully 'feathered' legs, so I think this one should as well.

Sorry, but as everyone else says, I like the other version. /:

Ehh, its okay, and the art is beautiful, and actually, some of you peple are being WAAAY to damn picky. If you dont like it draw your own and replace the image with CSS. However, I dont agree the bird legs, and the brown is too greenish. The feathers are a nice touch. I prefer the old revamp better, exceptionally beautiful, aside from the minor errors. (I am noticing that wings are shrinkin, as was the same on the serpenth revamp, those puny boogers could never lift them int the air. )

This is an absolutely beautiful piece of art. I had no idea it was an aerie at first, though. Not meant to be criticism, just a 'Wow, Blaze.'

And reading through the comments here, I really can't believe the nerve of some people.

we are not complaining, we justsay what we like better it is meant as constructive criticism not to say that we don't like it. most even saud that they love the art.

just wanted to turn that right cause i really love how it looks.

maybe i would like it a little more if it was not a side view but a half side half front view.

I'd really prefer having the tail feathers green again as opposed to the dinky little feather charm which I think looks totally unnatural and out of place. The legs all need work, the back feed look like paws and are bent oddly (I would be specific if I could, but I also have trouble drawing back legs like that), while the front legs are a completely unnatural cross between bird and lion legs. You need to decide which it is, because mammalian legs simply do not scale like that. The shape needs to be less column like and the toes need to be longer and thinner. Most birds have four toes as well, so it'd look better with three facing front and one in the back (most perching birds are like this, IIRC, songbirds and birds of prey included) or two forward and two back (like parrots).

I'm not fond of the color, someone remarked upon it being "poo colored" and I agree. The spots on the back need more contrast, I loved the lighter colored spots on the original revamp and think it looked much more original. Maybe these are more akin to panther or cheetah spots and would serve as better camouflage, but the others looked better. =P

I'm thrilled to see the aerie get some attention but I'm not fond of this revamp. However, I have great faith in the artist to take in some user comments. One person can't hope to spot every error. Looking forward to the next revamp stage!

Overall I really like it. Anatomy is much better then the old pet. I adore the dapples on the back and the green ear ring adds personality and makes the color of the eye pop. I like the proud position of the body and regal if a slightly cheeky expression. I love the chest feathers. After seeing so many pets with weird chest fluff or boobs it’s great to see an animal with believable chest anatomy. With no changes at all I would be willing to start saving to get more pets spots to add at least one of these standard positioned Aeries to my collection.

Now on to the constructive criticism. I think the color of the tail feathers needs to be lightened to match the body. As it is now it doesn't make sense for them to be so much darker then the rest. I think it could be improved by making it the same color as the body and making the tips of the tail feathers match the color tips of the wings. That would balance it out and give it a more connected and flowing appearance.

The back leg seems off to me. Possibly losing the black knee marking and the other black lines that seem to give definition where it shouldn't be for an animal's leg. You already have color to add definition the black lines are over kill. Possibly moving the leg back so it no longer has a “butt” to sit on could help. That way it would be sitting on the back of it’s leg like a cat or dog does instead of on a “butt” that animals don’t have.

It needs bigger wings. This is a huge pet peeve of mine. I can’t stand seeing fantasy animals with piedly little wings. There is no way in the world those wings can support such a large, heavy body in flight. If you don’t want to mess with the style of the wings I can live with that but please, oh please, make them bigger.

The front legs seem slightly odd. Birds of prey tend to have comparatively small legs with really big feet and talons. Instead here we have quadruped legs covered in bird scales. If you want to go with the quadruped design it would probably look better to keep them covered in fur. If you want to go with a bird design you may want to work on making the scales look more textured and make the talons a lot bigger. Thinning the leg down won’t work because the Aeries, unlike a bird, have very heavy bodies so they would end up looking like they have “stick” legs.

Like I said to begin with if this version goes through I will be happy with it. With a few touch ups to it I will be thrilled with it.
