After a long period of silence and general disinterest, the aeries have decided to try and rearrange their feathers a bit! What do you think?

Really? I hated the first Eyrie revamp. It doesn't look like a raptor, it looks like a budgie. The shoulders are squashed, the eyes are tiny and beady, the ears are crammed into the top of the frame, and the bottom legs are splayed so wide they seem dislocated. Also it has the Feli fur-tufts-that-look-like-breasts thing. If that had gone through... I don't know what I would have done, since I'm a gryphon-lover and my Eryries are what attracted me to the site in the first place.... but not looking that that!

The current proposed revamp I'm loving. I think the legs could be tweaked but otherwise... wonderful! Especially the earring.

I really like it. My only nitpicks are that I wish the back paw looked more like a paw and less like a human foot, and I would really love to see a visible back talon on the front feet, and for them to look more like eagle feet in general: http://www.paws.org/pics/emailpics/wildagain/01-11-2006-04.jpg

Much better than the first proposed revamp, though. I love how stately it looks, and the mottling on the fur is lovely.

Hey, I think it's pretty good. I think I'll miss it being green, but the green feather earring is a nice homage to the old one, haha. :3

I adore it! I think the only thing I would change is the heftiness of the forearms. I ADORE how the beak is larger. It's no longer a parrot's beak! Now it's a bird of prey. 83 The earring doesn't bother me, either.

About the one in the comments-- the one with the green feathers: This one, I think, isn't as satisfying because there's nothing bird like about it except for the beak and feathers. The beak, in my opinion, isn't convincing. It's like Tweety Bird. XD I'm a big fan of the eagle-type beak! Also, I really enjoy how the current aerie has bird-like front legs, giving it a true gryphon feel. So... there are my two cents! ^^

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

The lower body looks too squished... The "butt" part should come out more. The front legs are a tad awkward - they're a big change from the original, might not please everyone. Also, at that pose, there'd be a slight bend at the "elbow" of the animal, right now its just straight. And might wanna add little claws on the back - realistic little detail.

The shading is nice, and so are the spots from the first try at the revamp. I like the touch of feathers, however might want to make them a bit more of a matching color, maybe blue to match the eyes? I do like the rest of the coloring. But yeah, that's my 2 cents.

I... sort of half-like it and half-really don't.

I love gryphons, and have been waiting for the Aerie to get a revamp to adopt one or morph one of my existent pets (plans have varied at times). But this is a drastic depature from the previous Aerie - not just in the "cute" factor (quite frankly, I don't care whether it's cute or regal, just as long as it's well-drawn). It doesn't really look like a Subeta pet anymore; it's lacking that little spark in the art that drew me to the site in the first place.

I LIKE: the shading detail. I've been waiting for this thing to get a revamp for a reason. I love the almost feline splotches of darker brown by the wings, and the way dark brown are tipped with tans; it gives it a more lifelike colour scheme. And I do like the concept of the earring (although maybe the brightness should be toned down a little bit? As is [the ONLY non-brown/yellow on the pet], it distracts from all the other pretty little details).

I DON'T LIKE: ... Not that I think the new Aerie should be bounding around like the old one, but this one just looks like it's sitting stiffly, waiting for the photography to take the picture. It doesn't seem happy, sad, or angry, but it also doesn't seem neutral. The front legs look so rigid that ithey don't seem to even have joints - where are the back "fingers" on the talons?

I suppose my ideal revamp would be one that combined the liveliness, sense of (open, moldable) personality, and just... Subeta-ness of revamp v1 with the less CLASHYBRIGHT!! colours and taloned front legs of revamp v2. The art is pretty, but... I don't know. It's still lacking something.

I'm getting a little sick of the complaint about the bird feet and "lack of a dynamic pose." It's already been established that specialty colors will have more interesting poses and it's not like you kids don't have options. Using codes/custom images, you can over lap the current pet image. It just has to match that of the official pets color. (In other words, you can't have a Rainbow Gryphon overlap a common brown Aerie.)

As for the feet, they do NOT stick out "like a sore thumb." No more or less than this, this and these. Also, when you think about it, they do need -something- to match the bird beak and if they do give it paws, it'll look too much like Neopets Eyrie, which is VERY similar to the Aerie as it is.

Phari: Congrats. You mentioned something I totally missed and I agree with you. The wings are FAR too small for it's body. I'm ashamed I didn't see it before. I became too focused on that earring. The wings in relation are too small for it's size and should be enlarged.

However the legs are reather perfect. They need something to match the beak but I agree with previous posts that they should be more bird like and the talons should be more noticable than they are now.

Pwnful_Darcy: You can always use that revamp to cover up your current pet image with some special coding, as long as your Aerie is common, that is. However I disagree about this latest revamp. It does not look "manly" at all. It could pass as either sex.

I think this latest revamp seems a little too masculine :/

I do love it, but I think if there were to be a compromise between that and the previous it would be much better. I LOVE the return of the feather earring, but I prefer the coloring and pose of the other revamp. I do think, however, that this one got it right by having the front legs remain more bird-like. Otherwise it would be too similar to the montre, particularly with the addition of the earring being comparable to the montre's tail thingy.

Thanks so much for all of your hard work with these revamps!

Well, I really really like it. I thought 'yeah that's awesome' when I first saw it. But after seeing the other one they've been posting I'm a little split now. They both look really awesome- I do like the bird feet in the newest, and I like the feather earings, and the overall design is spectacular, but at the same time I think it's important to stay true to the Aerie pet and keep it more... how to say it? Aerie looking? The one people have been posting looks a lot more like an Aerie than this new one. Sorry, I don't know how to post the pic I'm talking about, but I think it's been posted enough already.

I like the revamp except for the tail. It's probably already been said, but the tail looks awkward with the rest of the body. It actually took me a second to figure out what it was. Other than that... I think it's beautiful! It will be interesting to see how it will adapt to the other colors.

Overall I like the new look - but think that a tail that was more lion-like with the plume at the tip rather than quite so poofy would be better. I like the earring, but would suggest setting it back on the back of the ear rather than the front would balance it out a little more. The front legs should be a little skinnier - eagle legs are thin and powerful - and moving the shoulders back just a bit so that they are in line with the wing joints, (the current legs have no elbow joints.) Maybe try the new head on the other body and sculpting the front legs to more eagle like instead of lion? Over all excellent effort - kudos to the artists.

I strongly dislike the green feather earrings. They seem out of place and even customized on an otherwise nice revamp, though I do have to agree with the others and say that this revamp: Seems a lot more...Subeta-oriented?

Eh, I don't know what to think of it. I'm all for the eagle legs if they were touched up a bit, they seems kind of weird, maybe too thick. I like the idea of the feather earrings. But I think either they should be that light tan color to match tips of the other feathers, or some more green should be added to balance it out. Actually the more I look at this the more I like it. I think I prefer this version to the first revamp. A few minor changes and I'd love it.

Personally, I like the original Aerie, or even the first revamp. The feathers and detail on this one is lovely, but it's too muscular for my taste. And something about the legs bothers me. The back hip seems to connect to the body in a strange way, and the back legs seem too small to support the Aerie. Also, I liked the front legs better when they had fur/feathers instead of talons. The talons seem to "pop out" too much, probably because of the bold shading and highlights.

Overall, it's a nice pet, but I preferred the "cuter" versions of the Aerie. I just hope the Reborn and Hydrus Aeries don't change too much in the revamp. (I do think the green feathers are a nice addition.)

Apologies if this has been said before, I don't have the time right now to read 300+ comments. The bright green of the feathers looks strange on an otherwise natural colored pet, it's a bit overwhelming. The tail part looks too tangled, (My gf wondered why the pet was taking a dump...), and the front talons seem very chunky. The wings look nice, if on the small side for the apparent mass of the body. I would also probably make the eyes a biiiit bigger, not overwhelmingly so, but that might be too much anime influence on my part. XD

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

im a bigger fan of the old revamp! this could only be a male. perhaps a compromise between the two would work. the wings are too small-and the pose...please change it

Guys, the facial expression on the first revamp is the main issue with it.

I personally don't see the first revamp as being Common. It's Chibi-like, obviously. Its pose is better, but the expression is not the neutral expression you'd have to expect on Common, and all the colorfills.

The feathers at the ear are great but the green sticks out too much. Maybe dark brown instead or some shade of brown/tan. Also the wings look far too small to carry it's girth but perhaps that's just me.

Personally I like the old revamped one that's been posted through out the comments far better than this latest version. The color scheme is better overall and the anatomy seems better. Although I would prefer it better if it had bigger paws.

I personally, love it. I think the earring makes it look exotic, which is nice to see on an average pet that isn't themed. I think the colors are nice, as well. Over all, every revamp shown looks good. But as I do not own a common Aerie, that is all I will say. I just hope the Hydrus doesn't get changed up too much.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by OtakuOokami

It's a nice looking piece, very nicely colored, but the anatomy and pose have just a few chinks in the armor that kind of mess up the fun for me, namely in the feet and legs. Here

I like the feather earring on this version, but, seeing the pose and style of the first proposed revamp, I like the way it looks in general better than the current proposed revamp. This pose seems very stiff to me due to the thickness of the chest fluff and the ramrod straight forelegs. The other pose is much more relaxed and friendly, partly due to the fact that it's looking mostly straight at you, but also because of the more open, playful, inviting pose, like it's going to come over to you any minute to play or looking for a scratch between the ears. Also, the tail feathers and wing tips really would look better green than brown. It adds a nice amount of contrast to the creature and would balance out the green feathers on the earring even if only the tail feathers were green as well.

As for the legs, the back hind leg seems to be a little too scrawny and angular and so doesn't really give the impression of a pair of strong hind legs, especially compared to how thick the chest, shoulders, and torso are, and seem almost too human to belong to a gryphon-like creature such as the Aerie. Meanwhile, the front legs seem kind of awkward to me because the part above the elbow seems to be completely nonexistent. Maybe extending that bicep region and creating a bend in the forelimbs would make them seem less stiff, since right now they seem to be made of just one bone. The talons also seem a little small to me, so I would suggest extending the length of the toes and, as others have suggested, adding the back claw.

So, over all, it's a good piece, but it could use a good bit of tweaking here and there in my opinion, just to make it more lively and dynamic, like it could move at any moment. That is the key to a really good still picture of a living thing, making it look alive.
