I liked it a lot at first, but then I actually looked at it. I think it's still an improvement on the old one though. What i really dislike about it are the hooves. They're flat, wide and too split. [I hope I make sense xD] The chest looks like it's caving in.
Now I love the face. :3 It's cute. The tails were drawn wonderfully, and the shading is amazing.
Overall, I like it, but it needs some work. 8D

And now that it's been mentioned and I've looked at it again, I think that the back legs should be a little bit thicker and muscled to go with the front legs. >:

There was some really really good points in a thread in bragging and complaining on the revamp but I cant find it now - I did start a new one though so mines there but the good points are missing! If anyone knows where that other thread went please let me know.

The mane needs to be less spiky, I think.

And its right hoof just bothers me. Its angle seems wrong...

I don't think I've ever loved the Hikei more than I do now. The only one I have ever really liked, actually, is the chibi hikei. But then this revamp comes along! <3 <3

THANK YOU to the artist that drew this. It looks so much better now! ;o; ... I love it to pieces. I only have one suggestion, though. The front feet with the hooves look like they're set a little too far out to the side. But other than that I think it looks absolutely amazing! I'm really looking forward to getting one of these (Or making Lhuki "grow up") xD;

I actually rather like this.
I would like to see more shading on the eye, and I'm not fond of the curvature of the neck. But other than that, lovely.

Also, the back ankles need to be a bit, thicker I feel. They don't match the front ones.

I'm in the back feet should be bigger, front legs turned too much camp. I also think it'd look better with a less spiked mane. I like that the head is a bit more in proportion with the body though.

This has potential to be a really, really nice revamp, but there are are a few things I feel need tweaking.

The two front legs are really bulky, too bulky I feel. I know that this pet is supposed to resemble a horse and the horses I've seen do look muscular, but the way it's drawn seems off, especially since the hind legs look so smooth.

I think it looks..bad. Sorry, but I don't like this revamp at all. Sure the colouring and lineart looks a bit better, but it's completely disproportional and just..wrong. :/ New revamp, please?

well to be frank, i don't like anything about this new hikei. and i'm especially sad about the tails - i love the tails on the old one, they're all small and cute. the rest of it, well, i'm not sure how to put things constructively and other people seem to be covering it..

I dont like the new one but it even seems those who do like the new one and or voted for the new one dont even like it lots or really dislike parts of it themselves cries if its changed to new one! My whole Subeta is based on the Hikei and it makes me sad to think I wont like it any more : (

I really love this pet... the idea is different... only suggestion I have is give it a more lean look, thinner limbs, with just enough muscle to give it a nice tone. The back legs are cute :3 I love paws for the back hooves for the front... very clever. Just perhaps the front legs should be a little thinner, while the back legs get a bit more muscle and thickness, for a more dramatic and powerful YET intereresting look. Everything else is fine :3 maybe the mane needs to be a little tamer but that's it <3

The back half is lovely. The head is a little big, but lovely. But those front legs... they're too stocky, and its left leg doesn't appear to have a knee. Slim them down, maybe point them in the same direction, then we're talking. The whole thing is a little front-heavy as it stands.

To be honest, the art of the new one is pretty good. It's just, the front right leg looks as if it's turned out too far, the neck is a tad too thick, and the three orbs on the tails look like they were copy-pasted. It also kind of looks like it will tip over head-first. The mane will also take some getting used to. Otherwise, it is a nice revamp. It is just not one of the better revamps. No offence meant, whoever did this, but it's just not up to par with the rest of the revamps.

Gosh... I just don't know what it is with revamps switching the direction the original pet faces to the other way. I don't know if anyone besides myself notices these things... it just really weirds me out for some reason. I don't get it. :C
Really I feel kinda weird in general about the Hikei though, so that could be it. The large hooves and tiny back feet freak me out, but I was thinking it would be kinda cool if they switched places so the dainty feet could be in front... eh? eh? I think that would look nice.... I doubt it'll happen though. Just wanted to throw that out there. Haha. ;P

its a decent revamp, but its lost a lot of the things that made the original hikei so likable.
for instance, its smaller bottom jaw and bigger eyes, giving it the "sweet" appearance. its pose was also much more appealing.
this one, though nice, doesnt capture the same image. the hooves and the legs.. are so-so. im going to vote to keep the old.

Oh my god--Mardraven is right! Now that I looked at the whole thing, I saw that the back legs are tiny and weak-looking compared to the front, which are, like a lot of us said, were not proportionate.

Please no? You change the chibi version and I cry. I don't like that the hooves are so huge, and the old eye marking is superior. It's duckfooted. You went overboard with the stripes. You could break its back legs with a toothpick. Aside from the eye thing, I DO like this head better, but the mane looks punk-ish... Change the legs and the mane and I might approve. Maybe if you made the mane look like the chibi version's a bit... The pose is good.

Hm, having grown up with horses, there's something about the tiger-like front legs ending in hooves that creeps me out, and it's neck seems too wide and muscular. I ADORE the new orbs for the tail. The back legs would be cute as well, but I think they need to be a little bigger and less claw-to-paw ratio (heh, just made that up. ) Also, the hoof-feathers are well done, but the body fur looks kinda... hobo-ish. Unkept.

I voted for old. This is definitely a step in the right direction, but is still awkward enough to turn me off it.

My opinion of the new version:
I like the nose and the tail but...
The nails on the back feet are too sharp.
The mane is way too spiky.
The front hooves are too big and stick out to the sides too much
The eye is too light in color, more black needed.
The ears are too wide at the base, similar to rabbit ears.
Do not like the tuft of hair near the back of the stomach.
Too much shading in the chest and stomach.
The blue around the eye makes it look like it was punched. (similar to a bruised black eye).
The fine black line coming from the eye -hmm, I prefer the shading near the eye of the old version.
Do not like how the 2 back legs are joined at the top.
The front feet are too fluffy -they look messy.

Sorry, but I don't particularly enjoy some of the new pets, and this is one of them.

The new one is amazing looking..
The ONLY thing I would change is I think his back feet should have hooves just like the front ones. Other then that I love the new looks.. Makes me wanna change one of my pets back into one.

No, no NO! So much is anatomically wrong with this! I love the orbs and how shiny and new it looks, but why is it duck-footed? Why is the chest angular? And why is the head so dispaportionate? Also, why is it gray? The old one was just so much cuter. I agree that it needs a remake, but this just isn't it.

The very first day I came upon Subeta, I fell in love with the Hikei; I adore dragons, but something about the Hikei made me smile. I put all my effort into getting a Twilight potion because my Kernos needed to be Twilight. So yeah, I have an opinion about this proposed change. It always vaguely amuses me when someone who does not have that pet is complaining vehemently about a redraw.

Whomever drew this revamp? THANK YOU -- I love the impish delight this new Hikei shows, as if he is ready to wink at you, then gallop off to do some mischief.

My one and only suggestion? The eye markings on the current Hikei are a bit nicer than the simple ring around the eye you are proposing.

I'm sure this has been mentioned already, but I'm not thrilled about the coloring, the Hikei just looks like it's dirty now. It would be nice if the base color was white again.

My only complaint other than that is the front hooves. It's just awkward looking how they're turned outward.

I like the idea of the revamp. Much more realistic and not so childish look for the Hikei. And it's because of the revamp that I realized the Hikei has paws for back legs instead of hooves! :O

But it's right front leg looks uncomfortable. I don't think horses' legs can twist like that. And also, it looks like it's lacking a sternum, collar bone, and some ribs because the revamp looks like the shoulder joints are where the sternum/ribs should be. O___o

Also, the proportion for the head looks a little bit off, but I like the tails.

The only thing that's ever kept me from getting any Hikeis are the feet. Hooves in the front and paws in the back have always bothered me even though it's a fantasy creature. So I voted to keep the old, because at least the back feet are more hidden so it looks less... not right.

.....The Hikei been needing a revamp...but this is just too boxlike, the hooves are far too large for my liking....and the chest makes it look masculine rather than either.....I dunno....It just looks too far off from a Hikei too me.....

That's great that there is a revamp! But I think the body looks a bit boxy. With the shadows in the oddest places! ((Well in my opinion the shadows are odd... D=))
And I think the mane looks like the Hikei had just received a bad hair cut. D=

I like the art compared to the old one. I like how the original had a marking on the eye this one seems a bit strange to me. The legs also throw me off some the back seem straight forward and the front are turned outward.

The new one looks MUCH better than the old one. The older version looked a bit to...chibi-ish. Save the uber-cuteness for the chibi-potion, please.

The front hooves seem to come out too far in my opinion, almost like paws. Horse/Zebra hooves just don't stick out like that it's almost it is flopping it's left hoof out in front of itself. Maybe it could be less sticking-out. Also the mane is kind of feathery. I liked the look of the old hikei mane because it looked more like a Zebra mane, and not a like a mohawk.

I love the weight of the Hikei, because Zebras in real life ARE stocky little critters along with other mules. Yay for realistic proportions! :3

Overall, the art is much better than the original and the eyes are positively lovely. I was thinking the hikei was in need of a re-vamp and I'm happy to see the change. I'm definitely planning on getting one when I purchase a GA.

.....ergh. Sorry, this just... isn't that good. : The front and the back are just too disproportionate, it looks like it's front heavy and could fall in it's face any moment. The hooves are just awkward, they don't look right at all, and it's odd how they have a lot more detail then the back feet. The tail looks alright but... not much else. This was the first revamp where I voted for the OLD one. :
