New Shops - Gold Account Testing

Attention, Gold Account users! We have a new feature for you to test--revamped Shops and Galleries!

The user shops and galleries have been rewritten because they currently put a huge stress on our database, and it's affecting the ability of the site to function.

For the new shops and galleries, we’ve set limits for how many items you can have in each, which means we’ll be retiring the Super Shop! and Hoarder! achievements. Currently the limits are as follows: you can have 250 unique items in a shop, and 500 in a gallery. This limit doubles to 500 in a shop, 1000 in a gallery if you have a Gold Account. These limits are only for unique items, you'll be able to have as many duplicates as you'd like.

Your items won't disappear if your Gold Account expires while over the limit, you just won't be able to add any more until you have either sold/removed enough items or have an active Gold Account again. You can have up to 3 shops/galleries, or up to 6 with a Gold Account. We anticipate being able to raise these limits significantly, but we wanted to start off small and increase rather than starting off big and having to reduce it.

Gold Account testing for will be active until 11:59pm on April 16th. The new user shops/galleries will be released to everyone on the 17th. Once the new shops are live, you will not be able to add anything new to your old shops!

On April 24th, all old shops will be disabled. You’ll still be able to remove items from them, you just won’t be able to reprice items or have other users purchase from it.

The Super Shop! and Hoarder! achievements will be retired on the 17th once the shops/galleries go live for everyone.

Information and a link to the new shops can be found here if you're a Gold Account member. will start pushing changes/fixing bugs on the 13th, so keep that in mind as you submit feedback. We will continue to make any necessary changes once shops/galleries are live for everyone to make sure they’re working to their full potential!

We know this will be a big change for a lot of people, but it's a crucial step for the continued improvement and success of the site, and for your overall user experience.

Can we at least get a "move to vault" option when we delete shops? That would eliminate the initial headache for this "intervention".

Having said that, this feels like the beginning of the end. For a long time, you've been looking for ways to add sP sinks because we're not mant to have loads of sP. It's been said of items that having them sit stagnant on an account is bad for the servers. Okay, so we're trying this, but items will still sit stagnant on accounts because, really, how many "reformed" hoarders are ever going to look at their messes again once they hit the impossible-to-deal-with vault system? Then. I've seen state the wardrobes are hard to deal with on the back end because users weren't [b]mant[/b

I only made those galleries to keep track of everything for my pets because my vault was getting cluttered beyond belief...now I have transfer everything back. Gosh darnit. I never use the autopricer, I've found I lose too much sP in the long run (...and I find it very calming to price everything manually totally anxiety-ridden)

cracks knuckles Welp, time to get on with the removal process. And to start making notes about what minipet and what pet treasures I've accumulated, aha ^^;

I feel this bares repeating, because I think people are skimming the news post. They're starting off small, but they intend on raising it.

Let's see - I have more than 19k unique in one gallery (previous hoarder gallery) and almost 6k in my main storage gallery. So subeta wants me to make it my full time job for the next couple weeks going through it all? Y'all don't pay me enough.

Seriously you're asking us to go from 150mph to 0 in no time at all and it's ridiculous. And saying you are anticipating raising the limit means nothing to anyone who will now have to take a damn big load of time going through their shops and galleries and getting them ready for the change.

And I have 7 shops/galleries which means I'm going to have to condense it all even more. Somehow.

Not fun. Or relaxing. Which is what subeta is supposed to be.

One of the reasons that I have played on Subeta as long as I have is because it is possible to be involved in all aspects of the website without having to spend real money. It takes work and patience, but it has always been feasible. And it makes the times that I have purchased from the Cash Shop valuable to me. Like Christmas. A change like this makes me feel penalized for not having the money to be a gold account holder. Heck, if I WERE currently a gold account holder, I'd still feel penalized!

Also, as I understood the original discussion thread on this, one of the main reasons for the shift was to get rid of the hoarding achievements and to move away from the mindset of, "I have to keep everything that I get on Subeta FOREVER NO MATTER WHAT!" How exactly is forcing us to put everything into our vaults going to improve that mindset? If anything, it will increase it, because who the heck has the time and energy to go through their vault and select what they want to move into their shops over and over again to make a profit? People will dump their items into their vaults and the vaults will become bags of holding from which nothing ever emerges again. This is going to have a seriously negative impact upon the Subetan economy.

I thought I was overreacting, but I had the same thought. Restocking our shops are one of the biggest ways people make SP on here and this is a huge hindrance on that process. Just thinking about going through all of the items and picking which one I want to sell and then figuring out all of this is just kinda making me not want to do this anymore. I don't have that kind of time on my hands to redo all of this for a casual game I play for fun. This is just super frustrating.

Had the same problem on runescape, paid for premium account, got more space to put my things, filled it up quick, payment ran out, and then I could no longer get more items or move anything around because it was so severely limiting. I don't play runescape anymore for this reason. Now that our shops on subeta are going to be severely limited in the same way, what are we supposed to do with our items? Only 250 items per shop... Why bother trying to profit off of that? If I can't get money, can't achieve my goals, can't do anything related and just sit here... Why bother using this site at all? If this is a plot to drive away the userbase, it's working.

This really... is not a change I am happy with. I get that the site needs to be able to function better, and hoarding is an issue, but the numbers are so low. With the current track record of features being implemented half-baked and ignored, too, this doesn't really make me the most optimistic, either.

Also, I probably make about 100 items per day from quests. Unique items, mostly. This really sucks since that means I can store, what, maybe a weeks worth of quests in my shop then? And then I have to hope it all manages to sell. Which, well, realistically - even well priced - a lot of that is going to stick around. This really feels like non-GA users are getting screwed over; in the past I'd just stock up my shop and, when it would actually be a good time, invest into a GA for the autopricer. But I don't know how I'm going to do that if I can't afford a GA with real money and if I don't have the time to hand-price everything - let alone every week's worth of quests. In the past it's always been about giving an incentive for a GA, that it'll just make things way easier/lax with more quests, vending, autopricing, etc. but it was never like, stressful to not have a GA exactly? I get that the site needs revenue, but... well... Yeah. I'm not exactly sure what incentive there is to really bother anymore, since I won't even be able to sell my rewards to even make sP to slowly save up for a GA.

Not to mention, I've been playing for over a decade, so this means my shop that I've had for over ten years won't even be usable anymore. :(

This adds a limit to everything. Don't have enough space in a shop, well, you better not quest. You better not vend, you better not do anything that warrants gaining items or you're screwed.

Guess we'll all just do only Saggi and Wizard quests because they only give out sP and Tokens.

I have nearly 2,000 unique items in my main shop! I'm not aiming for any achievement, I just dump everything I get from quests in there every day. I only price it when I have a GA and when the GA expires I just let the prices sit and let the items sell as they will.

If a GA continues to only lets you autoprice one shop a day and you can only have a couple hundred items in each shop that leaves a lot of unpriced/out of date priced items. Hand pricing a couple hundred items in a couple of shops every day is just out of the question.

I have to admit this update is really quite upsetting; it's really going to take a huge bite of how I use this site... I hope the item limits on the shops get significantly lifted pretty fast.

Wow, this is making my brain spin a little bit. Getting rid of the 502/504 errors will be great... but, I was so thrilled because I had just started putting a gallery together again. With an item limit set like that, it sure won't be able to ever be very big. And I've got almost 1,300 items in my shop... and growing... so, not sure what to do with all these items in the future. Inventory can only hold 250, so the amount of sP I make per day is surely going to ultimately go way down, since I can't put as much in the shop... which means it could take much longer to afford the upcoming battling weapons I need. Cries. ... I love my pets dearly, and for them I stay, but... this change makes me sad and frustrated.

I don't know how much of a strain an item is on site but 250/500 for non-GA seems really low. And I usually have a GA, but I know that I've had like 300 unique items in my shop when I'm barely even trying to sell in my shop. I think it's a little silly for people to need to stock like 2-3 shops in order to be able to sell the same amount as they can now. Can't it be raised to like 500/1000 for non-GA? and GA just have doubled? It would still be much less of a strain on the site than the current shop with no limit.

I thought to myself, I hardly vend so my shop numbers should be good. looks at shop 2,782 items...and we're supposed to have nearly 1/5th that amount only if I have a gold account? I feel like this wasn't thought through very well...

I'd thought my themed gallery was small (and compared to some of the ones other people have it sure is!), but at 1.3k items it's still too large for even the gold account limit and I feel there is no good way to split it up. Well I suppose I have toyed with the idea of getting rid of it before. Just don't like it being pushed like this.

I know I've been bad about pricing my shop so things have been pilling up, but getting from 3k+ items to 250 in my shop? I don't know about that. I don't know when the last time I hap less than 250 unique items in my shop was but I'd bet sometime my first year on Subeta.

The idea is fine, but these numbers are so small.

Probably I will have to reorganize my vault, and that is such a pain.

Will there be a way to move all of my items from an old gallery to a new one?
We&;re talking about this behind the scenes, trying to come up with a solution, but right now there is no easy solution for it. For example, how to transfer an old shop to a new one that is bigger than the new item limits. Or simply how to move the items without killing the database.</p>
<p>We agree that it&;s a very important issue, and we will come up with a solution that we hope fits everyone&;s needs. In the meantime, access to your items in old shops and galleries will never go away, even after the shops themselves are disabled.

Don't get me wrong, I knew this day would come and I am definitely not as effected by it as other people.. I think it's a good thing (for the site/the servers/etc etc) but I would have liked to see, I don't know, some things happen first.

Like the minion battling thing-- which is a place minion galleries could easily be moved to. I wonder what the chances are of having a minion "Gallery" (ranch? zoo? placeword?) that could be akin to a collection but work more like a wardrobe (you can take them out/put them in but if there's achievements you'd obviously hit a roadblock if you removed them).

I would also like to be able to frag retired junk. I have a ton of that in a "hoard" gallery (it's really just a dump site for crap I can't frag... and at this point anything that goes in there is lost to the world).

I'd also like to be able to mass remove particular types of items-- plushies, beanbags, wears, so people might have an easier time moving collectibles they've been hoarding from point A to point B.

I probably had more to say but I've been traveling and I have pizza coming and I forgot.

OH RIGHT.

I hope this means that staff will also stop supporting the hoarding of items. Y'know, releasing new achievements/things involving items that've long been retired... not un-retiring anything.. and then going with the notion that "well there's plenty in the shop searches!". Because all that really happens is the 10 people paying attention buy everything and jack up the prices, which isn't really fair or fun for the rest of the site. So, yeah.. to go a step farther than just killing the achievements/limiting shops (not saying that's a bad first step, but hopefully it just step one and not the entire game plan) but also considering "how can we NOT supporting hoarding/hoarders in the long run" because all that's going to really happen is:

Users move massive amounts of items from shops/galleries... and move them to vaults. Which isn't a solution, as a person with a sizeable vault those suckers lag like hell too.

I don't know why the decision was made to limit non-GA shops/galleries SO MUCH. It does feel unfair. Not everyone can afford a GA with real money or has the loyalty GA, and we already know how badly the GA accounts are going to inflate... again.

I understand the change, and I do agree with it, as hording has become a problem for the site's functionality. But, I feel like this is the first time the non-GA users are getting really screwed over.

I mostly used them for organization and TC planning, so hopefully there will be something else soon to meet that need. The vault makes me want to curl up and cry.
