: Congratulations! I knew you could do it! I’m so proud of you!
I’m proud of all of us! We all accomplished something by participating in NaNoWriMo, we wrote a story! In this day and age of increasing illiteracy (my Author is a retired teacher...the facts are out there), being able to not only construct a meaningful sentence, paragraph, or three-page essay, you all created a manuscript! You are elite, rare and special! Keep at it, our world needs storytellers like you. Thanks for your encouragement too, I love you all.
Thank you all! It's been wonderful writing alongside you all! Thank you so much for all of your encouragement and the late night sprints and everything! It's been wonderful! hugs all around!
Blarg, all my RL friends are telling me I didn't actually win cus I didn't finish my story in 50k words. grumble Not the point people :( Winning =/= finishing, even for the people who did manage to write a 50k word story beginning to end.
you won if you wrote 50k, whatever they say :)
I agree, it's been great!
thanks for being so organizational and all!
thanks, you set an excellent example... :D
You're very welcome
Thanks for everyone for participating and wishing you all very happy holidays.
Congrats to everyone who got their 50k words!
whatever! You did it and that's a big deal!
- Right? They've never tried to write a novel in 50k words :P what do they know. The Fellowship of the ring is almost 200k words on it's own, so I don't think it's a bad thing to be only halfway-ish at 50k.
don't bash those of us who did finish a novel in 50k words though! :D
some novels are just short! 😆
You still won if you wrote 50k words, even if it was half (or a tenth!) of the story you're telling.
- Wasn't saying short novels are a bad thing! Many classics are in the 50k range, like Black Beauty, and many Shakespeare plays. I'm just saying that most of the friends who were telling me I didn't 'win' have never tried nano before, or have failed nano, or who just wrote a bunch of really short stories for nano.
Oh good, I wasn't sure... I love Lord of the Rings too, but it's really long :D
Silly friends. Maybe it's sour grapes on the ones who failed... O.o
yet another nanowrimo i cant seem to finish

Awe..., don't worry about it, save what you have to use as an idea started for another future project. I have a file I call my "Compost Heap". Compost is where I throw all my refuse, where it moulders, breaks down, and acts as fertilizer for something really great later on. (Not that anything you've written is refuse mind you...) All writing is useful in some way shape or form, even if it is an exercise in the very act of writing for writing's sake. Good luck in the future, never give up.
I think that’s a really lovely way to think about it! Even if it’s no good to you now, a little bit of time and some cultivation can turn it into something great later!
Absolutely don’t give up! Maybe take a break from it, maybe toss it entirely, but keep writing! One of my big regrets is that I stopped writing for several years, I feel I would be much better by now if I’d kept at it! Writing and editing can be a huge grind sometimes, but you have to push through!
- lol, compost heap, I like that :D
He wrimos, since this thread conveniently got posted to again, I was thinking of making a writing group to help keep us all going during the rest of the year. it has been almost 3 months and I have shamefully not looked at my nano since then, and am once again on the track to leaving it for another year and only looking at it through the slog fest that is nanowrimo Who is interested?
I’m def interested! I need to get back into the swing of editing! And I could always use some moral support!
Absolutely! Always down for some writing shenanigans!
