My Subeta Memory

My favorite memories of Subeta... after going on eighteen years, wow! I don't know what I would have done without this place; I named two of my very first pets in honor of my children. I almost named my son Julienne. Instead, that became the name of my very first baby, my galactic dragarth warrior. Next came Sapphire Fern. She shares my late daughter's middle name and her bright, happy personality.

I remember slinking around Jaxon Skelly's manor during a particularly fun plot! The other thing is absolutely battling. It took several years but Julienne is finally stat capped and is the protector of our family. Sapphire Fern is making her way through the ranks, and I'm hoping she hits tier thirteen this year so that she can also be a guardian of our tribe of (currently) twenty-eight. We have plans to adopt at least one more next year.

Oh, koalas! I'd love koalas to make their way to Subeta as a new pet species... and a bunch of new battle opponents could never hurt anything... (I mean, surely they'd try, but my army is strong hehe!)

I still remember the first masquerade and the first masquerade plot and running into NPCs on the forums and piecing together the mystery... I had so much fun dressing up for it and it's still one of the site events I try and consistantly log in for. Same for the first infection day event we had, I loved that feeling of something slowly unraveling over time. It was truly special, and so much fun to interact with people on the forums.

Something I'd Love to See

I wish there was a little more to do with pets besides the battle dome, I'd love more interactive features with them. Story writing contests, or ways for other users to randomly stumble on them out in the wild without needing to go to someone's profile. I'd also like it if in human avatar contests people got more than one vote (maybe the contest owner can set how many votes each person gets), since there can be so many entries and just one vote doesn't feel like enough.

ssome of my favorite meemories is definetly dressing up my avatar with my sister especially for all the events!! iit wass the sisterly bonding that really broght us together and while she doesn't really play anymore and i come sporadically we'll always have the fond memorie sof playing subeta together and sending each other wardrobe itemsss

and in non sappy momentss juts the start of the ian and jaxon relationship all the way to reviving jaxon jsst iconic thhe sbeta characterss are truly close to my heart i love seeing how the world feels sso lived in and how they interact with each other - i still morn skitters and fantine's breakup

Twenty one years!! I wasn't there for the very beginning but still, I've been on this site for the majority of my life.

I remember doing the Wizard's quest back when there was no QC for what he'd ask for-- could be a common shop item, could've been something that cost over a million sP that no one had in stock. My internet was so crappy back then but i wanted the achievement for under thirty seconds SO badly. I remember shouting at the screen as a teenager waiting for the page to load! I was so frustrated, but now it's just funny.

Honestly, I want more plots. I remember the aftershocks of Amy, the Morostide mystery, just so many wonderful stories that made this site come alive. I'm also DESPERATE for real life contests!! I participated in the ornament making contest and I wanted to make another so badly the next year, only for it to never come up again. :(

If you ever do another IRL meetup, I would love to see it. I never had a chance when i was younger and now as an adult with a full time job i still don't it would be so inspiring to meet the community face to face.

shortly after i joined subeta, my dad passed away. i didn't get back on for several months, but when i came back, i had received messages and gifts from people checking in on me. didn't know what had happened, just noticed i had been gone and were hoping i was well. it still moves me to think about and is an indication of the kind of community subeta is. i love it here and i'll be here until the internet dies<3

I think my favorite memory would have to be Esther and Emma's wedding plot with Tempest. It was around my favorite holiday (Vesnali) and it was great to see queer representation.

I'd like to get more baking recipes or even have an all new cooking type of activity that is similar to the baking but maybe with Pete. I want to assemble my own burgers or make a pizza.

I have been a member of Subeta for 19 years, 3 months, 3 weeks, and 1 day. Honestly, it feels like it's been even longer than that, lol

This site has helped me get through several moves, a massive breakup, the loss of a few friends, and even a period of homelessness. It would be impossible to name just one favorite memory when the list is so, so long.

If I had to pick just one, though, I would probably go with my very first Masquerade Ball. I was SO hyped to get all the steampunk items and I spent literal HOURS dressing up my avatar for the festivities.

• I would really like it if the Kumos site looked/felt a bit more like the Legacy site. I might use it more often if it did. Shop list in the sidebar WHEN??
• Some way to get more old items like the Peka-Boo merch back into circulation.
• Physical merch would be cool! You could open a Fourthwall shop and offer things like stickers, t-shirts, etc, if you didn't want to be responsible for handling/have the time to handle physical merch yourself.

I still remember that one time I got an Official Warning back in like, 2008 for typing something in all caps lmao

It's actually hard to pull a single particular memory out of this hat. My most active years were more than ten years ago, and to be honest, I had some pretty bad experiences on Subeta that ultimately caused me to basically go into semi-hiatus permanently (but also grow as a person? life is complicated, isn't it), but this thread is not about that type of memory, and nor do I wish to rain on everyone's parade.

Here's to all the people who helped me when I was in a difficult time in my life, yes, Subeta connected me to them. Most of these people no longer use Subeta, and I only come back infrequently to haunt these pages as well, honestly, for nostalgia's sake. Anyway, I hope they are well. I would like them to know I'm very different, but also well, or at least consistently have my head above water. Some of these people are also no longer in this world, and I think of them too. Thank you Subeta for being this little corner of the internet that was a space for all of us to land for a time together... although to be honest a good size of that space has diminished from condensing of the forums but I understand and respect this decision, since the world has changed and intensified a lot and the task of moderation is significantly harder and more complicated in the present day (particularly regarding debate and political speech). But for reals I'm so grateful I sought politics news and advice from subeta forums instead of finding reddit, I would be a totally different and probably worse person today. And thank you Subeta, for platforming a particular and unique form of creative expression, that we know as virtual pets.

We don't need explosive powpow plots every year - actually I was thinking that it would be great for people who have never experienced these events to be able to somehow experience them for themselves, and for people like me (the sands of time have eroded my own memories, both for better and for worse) to revisit/remind those memories -- so yeah, be able to run the event back and not just have a text/wiki blob.

This is such a cool feature/way to use the forums. Very creative... I wonder if in the future, users could create modified threads like this?

I remember when I was a little kid, my mother used to play on this site a lot. I think she still does, I wanted an account but I was like 7, so my mom would let me dress up her human avatar from time to time. When I turned 12 or 13 and got my first email adress my mom set up a subeta account for me. I remember when she told me, she'd spent a day or so getting me some subeta points saved up and some of the cheaper clothing pieces I'd always used when dressing up her human avatar. I was so happy, I think I spent like 4 hours just on the site that day. Thinking back about it after all the years I've been playing is always something that makes me smile.

We have the Glade and Harvest themed pet colors. I would love to see something more winter themed. Like with a mound of snow around the pet. Maybe a blue jay or a cardinal. Something that screams winter. And maybe something summer themed too since the Glad pet reads as more spring themed to me. It would also be fun to see more lore for the npcs, especially the ones that are historically important to the story of the site. Like the Wizard and Shinwa.

I joined only a few years ago and was so lucky to meet amazing people immediately. One of my favoite memories has to be the great blob hunt of discord that the amazing Ryuu's blobs were a part of! It spun into over a dozen of us having the most joyful, hilarious time creating our own plots and dragging in some much loved subeta characters (I'm looking at you Saggi and Alexander!)

I'd love to see a chance to get old plot points/epicon things again! An opportunity to relive the great plots some of us missed or even justobtain the points and prizes we may have missed!

I'd LOVE to have a rift cleaning day! A chance to throw out all those typically un-fraggable challenger, genetech etc items and maybe get a surprise. a chance to clear out

My memory is more of a collective thing. Im pretty sure because of subeta I also found out about dragcave and purefelinity, which amazingly, both are still around even today! These incredibly niche, little corners of internet history. A medium I thought was fizzling out but the communities keep em going and its very bittersweet to see. I wish you guys got as popular as neopets had, cause you sure deserve it honestly! Also the day chester bennington died, the post you guys made about it and free gift that went with it were just perfect, thanks for that.

Also one more teensy non favorite memory was of uh, when the site got hacked and that picture was at the forefront of the site. Forever etched into the brain lmao

I remember being so proud when I first beat Mephysto battling. And my pets have come a long way since then!

Also, really fond memories of the RS n Chat threads. Those powered me in our sPrint boards and goals!

Something I'd Love to See

More achievements! More tiers for existing achievements! And working achievements in Kumos. I like that achievements make me use parts of the site I wouldn't normally, whether that's doing Major Drills quests, playing Mazes and Mahars, or turning in treasure maps.

Also, would love to see a restock war :P

A reset for Item Hunt for those of us that maxed it out at 100 levels with different prizes - like some of the ones for the old trivia game. A cool cyberpunk style color for pets. The pink and green sweet deadly color to be for pets and more stuff.

a memory? one of my favorite memories was when my sister claimed her k-wand from the recycle beastie! i helped her a little bit, but it was so exciting that she was able to snag one of them! she doesnt play these days (i think the wand has been passed to one of her friends), but it's nice to reminisce.

My Subeta Memory

Cheating and including two memories, an older one and a more recent one: My older memory is the Masquerade Murder Mystery--I'm pretty sure it was my first plot on the site, and I loved participating (even though I couldn't do the battles, lol) and reading all the theories on the forums, and seeing which ones were right. It's what really drew me into Masq being my favorite holiday.

My more recent memory is being gifted, a Lumi or two ago, by an anonymous gifter. Being gifted a custom item is always so generous, but it was especially incredible to have one that can make my HA have scars like mine. I always try to include it in my HAs, even though 95% of the time you can't see it.

Something I'd Love to See

I've contributed a couple times about item tagging/reorganizing wardrobe layers, and that's something I'd really like to see come to fruition. The wardrobe was one of the features that initially drew me to Subeta, and it feelsl like a while since it's had some love. I also really miss the drag-and-drop drawer sorting that one of the older wardrobe versions had! Drawer organization is a nightmare, currently, and the drag-and-drop made it feel so easy, especially when I accidentally miscategorized something.

I have a lot of favorite memories here, which I'm very thankful for, but one of my favorites is the first time I received a random gift from out of the blue (, iykyk), and ended up in a seemingly endless back and forth of surprises. I love hunting down wishlist items for people, so being friends with them has given me an outlet for that, and I'm so grateful.

I would LOVE to see the Bathhouse pools added to the alerts. Other once a day activities like the RuffieRaffle are already included...honestly it would be such a nice little QoL adjustment.
