I mean, in theory, yes. Reading about all what you have to do? NO THANKS Makes me realize even more that I am very glad I never had the opportunity to buy the house next door super cheap and turn it into a home based childcare center (that was my thought 20 yrs ago when I could have got it for 30k lol - live in my house and next door have a childcare business) VERY glad I did not. I am NOT cut out for business stuff. I could totally do the childcare stuff, even 20 yrs ago I could have - but not the business stuff :o
edit 130pm WOW I've gotten FOUR Morty cards so far today and I've only done about half my legacy quests (I already did kumos this morning)
[edit] Tuesday 625pm Well I did my first hours at the childcare center today. Two and a half hours of sitting on my butt in a kid chair hahahaha My butt hurts. I might try to stand or walk around some on Thursday, to prevent that a little. I just don't want to be in anyones way, and it is "go home" time at the center while I'm there, so I felt like I'd be in teh way of parents getting their kids - but there is an empty room and I might ask if I can go sit in there to do classwork or walk around so I won't be in the way of anyone when i don't need to be directly doing something at the center Like today - I sat in the chair trying to read but it was really disruptive. I did take some notes on what was going on, and stuff that the director told me too....
Ugh, that sounds awful. But only the first day, so as you figure it out and make it your own, it'll get better! (hopefully!).
Also I broke my blender yesterday and I'm very sad. The end.
Yeah. It was fine when I was chatting with her and getting info I needed, and I honestly should have worked on the assignment I got the info for, except somehow those papers I needed were left at home eyeroll bad me. This time I'll make sure to have all the papers, and then we can review it and I can edit it while sitting around. I don't think reading will work unless I go into that empty room, which I will ask for permission to do IF there really isn't anything else for me to do - the main thing is to observe her, her duties, help as needed (which they don't really need at that point in the day), participate in creation of things (like menus, calendars, parent letters) when the director creates them, etc. As you said, it'll get better as I go along, and figure out how to work on things that I need to do, while I am there.
Class is over for tonight. I got some guidance on how to work on my case study for that class (because like honestly, I have NO behavior issues really again this year, and we have not even begun basic assessments, so I have no idea if anyone really needs any kind of academic assistance) - so I chose academic and asked if I could just do a broad beginning assessment, since we hadn't yet, and then use that to guide future suggestion type stuff - and he agreed. It took him a minute to realize what I was saying - that we had not done ANY assessments (formal) at all. We have done some informal observations, but no checklists, like kid knows abc, 123, color, shape whatever. NONE of that yet She didn't do it last year either - I DID IT - but this year I had too much crap going on to worry about whether or not those kids were assessed and honestly it was HER job to do it, I help if she asks - last year I was just trying to get going, this year I decided its not MY job, and since I had other crap, I wasn't doing it for her!! (My plan for my own classroom is for me to do the assessments during "small group" time while my assistant is showing a group how to use a center area. Until all assessments are done, and then I'll help with the center areas)
I guess I will create my own checklists based off the ones she normally does, plus the assessment we normally use - and just create some checklists that show what he knows NOW - and then I can redo them in four weeks or something before the case study/class is over and see where there is growth and where there is not - so that I can use that for "work on these areas" type of conclusion.
UGH about the blender. So sorry. I hate when my small appliances break and I have to go find a new one. usually cannot find the one I already had anymore and hate picking a new kind, even if they are mostly all the same! :P
[edit] Thursday 610pm So today was a fun day. It was SUPPOSED to be Grandparents Day for PK-2nd grade. However, there was a water main break at like 9am, and water to our school and the highschool got shut off. So they canceled GP Day. (Rescheduled for Monday). Our kids are all now upset, not only can we NOT go use the toilets, but nanny isn't coming?? Portapotty did NOT get delivered until about 1045, which, is when we are AT LUNCH (so yea that was fun until then, the ones that COULD NOT WAIT, we took to use it - boys used the urinal and the girls to throw the toilet paper in the trash, and use santizer up to that point) They also delivered bottled water for the kids to drink and were supposed to set up hand washing stations but I never saw that (unless we were supposed to use the bottled water for that too? No idea) Lucky OUR class already had bottled water since WE ask parents to send one, and keep a gallon jug in the fridge to refill them, as well as our own bottles for the kids to use if they forget thiers.
And so then we had tons of parents upset about the water being out and GP day being cancelled, the office was FULL of adults :o sheesh. They sent out an all-call and email around 10 as well, to tell parents GP day was cancelled and also that due to the water main break, if they wanted to check their child out, it would be an excused absence. We started the day with 18 out of 19 kids (we got a new one today and one was sick) and ended up with 6 by dismissal! So lets do the countdown - 18 at lunch (1045), 10 by the end of recess (at 1155), 8 at naptime (1pm) - At naptime, I had 3 boys, so we just used the urinals again hahah but she took the 5 girls to the portapotty (eww by then). We lost 2 more kids during naptime. So 6 at dismissal
edit: 810pm Phew I am tired. I finished my philosophy statement the other day and finalized my budget tonight. And I have no idea if they're good enough, but I'm done. I turned them in. I added a comment stating I had no idea if I did them correctly, but I worked hard on them and if allowed I will redo them if I need to :P (its worth 8 points out of 250 ish total required to pass the class - so hopefully it will be fine) Next I need to write my reflection for my phenomenon and WRITE STUFF DOWN for my child case study (i have notes and today I created my checklist, but nothing started in Word yet lol) and then yes, joy of joys - I can begin on the NEXT assignments. (and continue working on things like the case study and the child care final project stuff)
I mean, to be honest, if I had the ability, I'd pick my kid up too, if there wasn't running water or water to make lunch with, you know?
Spent $10,700 today. Bought Alex a car. Put $3000 cash down, waiting to get a call from the credit union to finalize the rest and then we can take it home. Ughhhh though LOL.
I like your comment idea though, about working hard and will redo if need be! Lilys English teacher actually gave her extra credit on her test because she showed her all the flash cards that she had made and such for studying, and was like "LOOK, I really did read it, and I REALLY did study.. I'm just REALLY bad at these tests!" and the teacher took pity on her LOL.
Ooh ouch on the spending but yay for a car?? :D I'm not sure how lunch turned out for everyone, but we at least (PreK and 4th) had hot lunch. They had some water - and I was talking to the server and she was all like "we got a call, then another call, we were told to start, stop, start" and it was so confusing on what everyone needed to do. And I do not blame parents in the least for getting their kids. I was glad they did. I would have too!
I turned in my phenomenon assignment and I worked on my case study and turned in a "checkpoint" - (no grade, but if we turn it in he'll give us feedback) I am debating doing the mid-term today or tomorrow - its due Wednesday and I know I am NOT going to feel up to doing it during the week, but I also am not even sure what the mid-term is covering :o He really only mentioned ONE thing during class about it hahaha At least it is un-timed and I have the textbook so I can do it at my pace and hopefully find correct answers? :P He never said we COULDN'T!!!
EDIT 355pm CRAP - I did NOT check my prescription before leaving the pharmacy this morning, assuming that I still had special bottles ordered - and instead I have horse pills. I guess I will NOT be taking my pravastatin for the next two days and instead will call the pharmacy on Monday morning and stop by there on my way home from work. sigh
Also I did the mid-term. It wasn't as hard as I thought but it sucks because it was only 7 questions, 1 was an essay/write in. I got one of the other 6 wrong. (eep. It was a choice between two answers I was unsure of and I checked the book and really thought I chose the right one. Oh well). Hopefully I get full points or at least enough points to bring my grade to passing on the essay one.
Oh no on the pills! Can you crush them maybe, for the next few days?
And booo, but that should be good enough on the midterm, even if not great. :(
I forgot, we ALSO went and took El to the title and tag place today, got the car put into her name, then came home and helped her get her own auto insurance.. and then the car and her OFF of mine!
Will have to put the "new" car on, but for now at least.. yay! :P
And Izy went to a birthday party today. I went to pick her up at 2 and ended up leaving at quarter after 5 LOL
I just want to return the whole bottle because the special order bottle is exactly 90 pills which is what they give me at a time. I mean, I could. But I think I'll survive w/o them for two days. If I had to wait longer, I would try to use t hem. I hate choking on pills. I don't know if I'd be allowed to crush these, I've never asked.
I had to buy myself a new tablet today, the old one was not charging with ANY cord I had in the house :( I think the connections must be messed up, because the chargers still work for my phone and other things.
And I'm TRYING to buy a lawn mower belt - but I think I got the wrong size, but the store didn't have the one I thought I needed and when I googled my mower, it said the one I got - but I think its for a 42 inch mower and mines a 36 so I'm pretty sure its wrong.I double checked my mower size when I got home, and yep its 36 so I really don't think the belt I got will work sigh And yet I cannot FIND the 36 inch belt at the moment anywhere and am confused by the generic one and can't tell if its the right one for my mower ARGH
Did removing El help your insurance rate? I wish I could get rid of Nathan but we only have the ONE car :/
10am - update - I THINK I got the right mower belt. I am having my neighbor order it on prime so it gets delivered sooner, I don't have prime and don't want to spend more $ for free faster delivery OR sign up for prime sigh I have to have it BEFORE Friday, since Ryan will be here sometime Friday to put it on.
Oooh, you can't return pills here, once they're out of the pharmacy they can't take them back. That's why I was wondering.
Ugh on the new tablet.. but at least it's probably faster?!
Booo on the mower belt!
It DID help, a lot. It went down 2/3! Though we'll have to add the other car on..
They let me the last time, I choked down like 10 of them then went in and explained and asked (I was prepared to pay for a new set of pills if they'd just replace them but not let me return the others) and he said to bring the others back in. I thought he'd put a note on my file, but I guess not? He did order several bottles of the smaller pills, but maybe I already used those? Or else the person doing the refill didn't see my bottles? I dont know -he put MY name on the smaller bottles so I would get them.
Lucky you! Thats a good drop. El is in a good place that she can pay her own insurance then?
I mostly use my tablet to read on the kindle app, so no idea if its faster hahah :P
Interesting new addition to kumos quests - you can now earn CSC for completing them (and even some for completing most of them!) GO me, since I almost always complete ALL of them - unless there is an issue that makes me QUIT a quest. (Has been off & on for the past couple weeks but Keith has been working on that). Off to work I go, yay. Class tonight, need to read an article when I get home. Fun. BYE!
Edit 145pm So I called the pharmacy this morning, they have an open bottle withu name but have to order more and she apologized that there wasn't a note to make sure I get the smaller pills and said she would add one to my file. 😁 They will have them tomorrow but I won't be able to pick them up until Wednesday so she is letting me come in today and get two out of the open bottle until I can swap the others.
Oh, it's nice that they're so nice to you! It's great to have that rapport with your pharmacist..
CSC is pretty nice, I like that it's not random.
Well, El is moving out, so they'd have to have their own insurance anyway. Well, technically moved out but.. not quite yet. Going over after my meeting to sheetrock!
Oooh moving out? I didn't know. How exciting for El!!
I absolutely LOVE this pharmacy and the staff there. I only use other places if I have to have the meds immediately like I'm sick then I go to walmart or something if its Sunday or Saturday afternoon. But if this one is open, I go there!
Meh. Guess I need to read my article. Then I can do supper - I decided on grilled cheese and tomato soup for something quick and easy. Need to be done eating and on zoom by 530 :)
[edit] Class over. Was reviewing what I need to do in my practicum class so I can work on it at the childcare center tomorrow - and color me confused ya'll. So. I have to do a "staff development" meeting in which I plan to discuss a topic with my staff members of the child care center (no I dont' really have to, i just have to make a plan/agenda for covering the topic) In the syllabus this specific assignment says Develop a plan on how you will involve the staff in training concerning "culturally relevant responsiveness" in an early learning environment. In the syllabus calendar (which, yes, is included IN the syllabus) it says Develop a plan on how you will involve the staff in a training discourse on "courageous conversations" concerning "racism" in an early learning environment. AND in the modules/assignment on canvas it says Develop a plan on how you will involve the staff in training concerning "positive guidance" in an early learning environment
EXCUSE ME? WHAT? Which topic is correct??? I am going to go with the one on the assignment since thats what is on the page where I have to turn in the assignment, but how confusing is this?? SHEEEESH
That is very confusing! Did you get it done? Did the teacher answer?
Yeah, El and Akira are making an apartment in my SiLs basement. The whole family has kind of been working on it, but mostly the girls and my father in law.
We picked up the new car today! It's a 2018 chevy equinox. It's pretty nice.. and most importantly, legal and safe :P
I also got sent home from work today sick. It's the first full week of school! Ugh.
Never contacted the teacher - just going to go with the one listed on canvas where I have to turn in the assignment. (the positive guidance). I talked with the director of the childcare center, THEY don't plan trainings like that sigh of course not. They do all their stuff online, and the staff chooses their own trainings. So. I guess I will look online at a few free training sites and see if they have some sort of positive guidance training and then "plan" for "my staff" to take the training and have a discussion about it or something :P
I have until Sunday night to do that.
I had class tonight, we got told that the midterm was supposed to "OPEN" by today but we had until like Sunday to get it done? Well, then why was it OPEN already with a DUE DATE of today? Very confusing but whatever. Doesn't matter, I already did it. We also got a quick explanation of our next group project - which is a pretend IEP meeting, with each of us playing a role and we get to record our ZOOM IEP meeting and turn that in, as well as a 500+ word reflection on our IEP zoom meeting and all the stuff about IEPs. Fun. We do have TWO weeks before this is due and he is going to go into more detail on IEP meetings in class next week, giving us a chance to learn more before we record our zoom meeting.
Yay for nice, newer and LEGAL. I so want a new car (even just, NEWER). But eh. I has what I has. I will live. I am debating (already yes) if I would want to use some of my increased income on a new car after I get hired as a lead teacher.... (depending on the amount of the increase of course!)
Oooh nice for the girls. Will they get along and live well together? I hope so.
Boo for being sick. I have been coughing and sneezing a lot myself. Trying to figure out if it is change in weather, different pollens (fall allergies?) or some illness going around. We do have hand/foot/mouth going around our classroom. Yay :/
Ugh IEPs. They're so great! But like.. ugh, the paperworkkkkk.
Yes, legal is VERY exciting haha.
This ends up being $224 a month including gap insurance, for four years. So not like.. awful? Oh, and once I added it to the car insurance, it's still $3 lower than having El and the car on there :P
There's hand, foot and mouth going around here too, in the elementary center. Ughhhhh.
I had a fever yesterday, then it went away? Today my stomach feels weird, and I'm kind of.. like.. my head feels.. floaty? I'm not sure how better to describe it.
I think they'll get along well together, and at least there will be bedrooms. But they're both kind of disasters so.. I guess we'll see. I don't know how well they'll actually get along with Ashley and co but.. again, I guess we'll see :P
Oooh I get the floaty head thing a lot. Its not quite a headache, not quite light headed, just ... not quite all right and sometimes I explain it as feeling like I've got a cotton ball around my brain. I felt feverish today, but do not have a fever (I checked with two thermometers) and I called myself out of going to the daycare today because I just need to REST. I'm so tired and not feeling good. Also I had like half a voice all day today. I've had a cough all week. Not fun. Going to TRY and get some assignment work done, but we will see if I can focus on it or not.
Thankfully we don't have to do the IEP paperwork for this assignment, just the video "meeting". IEPs and stuff like that I am NOT looking forward to dealing with, however PreK really doesn't have a lot of that thankfully. (At least, not at my school)
Will there be a separate entrance for them? Like one house my dad lived in, the basement entrance was in the garage, so the stepdaughter & her boyfriend who lived down there didn't disturb my dad/his wife at the time coming and going But my dad's house now - if someone was to try to live in the basement, the entry is in the kitchen and by the backdoor, so you'd have to go inside the house, in the kitchen entry area and go down stairs. It won't be as interactive I guess, if they have a separate entry I guess is what I am getting at... Hopefully it works out well for all of them.
[edit] Well I can focus better today for sure. I have managed to complete my parent calendar, parent newsletter, and parent workshop/meeting agenda. I also managed to complete my "staff training" assignment. GO ME! Now I need to look and see what else I need to do/work on and make sure I get everything turned in on time :P
Yeah, they'll have their own enterance. Though they can also go through the house.
Yeah, it's just.. floaty. I don't know how else to describe it :P
I went to work today, but man, I could really use some time off. Concession stand tonight, tomorrow sheetrocking, Sunday church then yard work party at his parents house. We're both whooped tbh.
Glad you're feeling a bit better and got some work done today!
Ooh yeah that edit was today, not yesterday - I didn't date it like I normally do lol
Whew that's a lot for you to do. Hope you get SOME rest this weekend! I need some more rest, even though I feel better. We are now getting the stupid dog on Saturday sometime. It was supposed to be Monday, then it was Sunday so she can leave early Monday morning, and now its Saturday because supposedly she has to work Sunday, from 9 til late, and since she's leaving early Monday.... Well. I'm just a bit confused on what job will hire you and then let you take 2 weeks off???? Supposedly she is working for amazon as delivery person. I can't remember for sure but I think it was FedEx she used to work for like that. Anyway. Whatever. So we get the dog some time tomorrow.
And on top of that, Ryan came to do my belt for my lawn mower, only to tell me it can't be fixed, the belt (while it DID need replacing) isn't a problem anymore since the DECK is screwed. Some spring/bolt thingy came out of it, and theres a hole in the deck now and anyway he is going to try and bring the deck from the lawnmower he was going to swap engines on and instead just swap decks since the deck will fit in his car and the lawnmower OBVIOUSLY wouldn't .... (which is why he hasn't swapped mower engines yet, as he had no way to bring a whole mower here) But he can't do that until Sunday before he goes to work again, so I need to borrow my neighbors mower and do the dog runner line and side yard at least (so we aren't walking through tall weedy grass to put doggies on the runner line!)
I just went and printed off my Monday class stuff, so I can work on that this weekend. As its due Sunday night. I turned in my practicum assignment that was due Sunday (that was the staff development thing).
[edit] Saturday Sept 13 520pm I have turned in the two assignments and am trying to get through the reading for three chapters to take the quiz. It is only worth 10 points again, but it has 27 questions and a time limit of 30minutes I wish this teacher knew how to go in and edit the time :/ I know it can be done because other teachers have done that, but I think she just doesn't know she can/how to do it. Oh well. Hopefully I don't run out of time, and if I do, she will reopen it, she said that in our orientation. Bleh. Also am waiting on eldest bratchild and wife to bring the dog. Bleh again. Borrowed the neighbors lawn mower and mowed all of my grass because Ryan called this morning and said the decks on the mowers at his girlfriends house will NOT work on my mower sigh He again offered to sell me her parents zero turn mower - I dunno. Maybe I should just take him up on that offer, because at least then I won't have interest payments or anything and he said they would do payments for me instead of making me pay all at once. sigh Not sure I really want a zero turn - but I need a mower - and I don't really want to have to finance one.
Ugh to all of that. :( Have you looked, some of the lawn services around here are actually cheaper than payments on a mower, if it's just mowing the big spaces and not doing like, the push mow and weedwhack stuff?
And boooo to puppysitting! I hope they appreciate you!
We did get all the sheetrock put up today, Alex's dad did the kitchen walls (just outside walls), he and I finished the bedrooms inside and out and one in the living room, and our BiL brought more sheetrock in and did some on the back wall, as well as some little piece work in the living room. It took us all five hours, but we got it finished!
Which like.. thank goodness :P And my FiL is paying a finisher to come in and tape and spackle and sand, which like.. THANK GOODNESS because that's definitely the worst job of it all!
I got to do some of the screwing though, which was fun (with the drill, obviously). And my favorite part was snapping the doors out after Alex cut them, though I did get to try the drywall saw and the knife too, but like.. I didn't love that part. I LOVED snapping it out, though :P
And I helped hold stuff and found stuff and whatnot haha.
I also especially liked breaking the pieces of leftover pieces of drywall over my knee so they'd fit into a trash bag. Wayne came out and was like "Wow.. you look WAY too happy to be destroying things" and then Alex came out 2 minutes later and was looking at me weird and I was like "What?" and he goes "nothing, you just look SO happy, I was enjoying watching you!"
So... everyone knows I like destruction now, I guess haha.
Oh! We won last night, 28-30! It looked like we missed a really good game.. because we were stuck in the stand the entire. time. Which.. was not supposed to be. But it's fine. I really hope we get enough people signed up in two weeks so that we don't have to LOL
Oooh hahaha it can be fun breaking things. Stress relief ;)
Nah, I can't afford to pay anyone either, just like I can't afford to get a new mower. Not truly. But eh. I'll figure out something. My neighbor is super sweet and said we can keep sharing hers, but I don't want to accidently break it or anything, she just bought herself that one brand new. My yard can be pretty rough. I was being careful over those spots when I borrowed it today. Nathan is supposed to do the weed whacking and push mowing of edges and weird spots....but he doesn't 90% of the time (It just doesn't get done at all unless I make him or do it myself).
Yay for a good game!
I stopped reading 1/4 of the way into the 2nd chapter (out of 3 chapters). I have a headache - but I just decided to go take the quiz and see how bad I did w/o reading.... I got 8.75/10 points (so an 87 again). Not terrible. Wish I could see which questions I got wrong. So annoying. So I could redo it and get a better score. W/o knowing the ones I got wrong, I don't know which ones I got right hahah :P I swear, I pick the correct answers, but obviously I got some wrong somehow.
Little menace is here now (dog). Anna dropped her off like 10 mins ago while I was doing the quiz. Naturally :P Guess I should go out into LR and supervise the beasts, tho it is quiet at the moment :o Suprising.
Yeah.. I definitely hear you on that. I just thought it might end up being the same price or cheaper. Sometimes you actually get lucky in life.. right?! LOL
Ugh speaking of yardwork. I've got to go out and do some. The weedwhacker still isn't working, but I can take the clippers out and do a bunch. El mowed the (front) backyard for me today, so once the battery is done charging I'll finish the front of the yard LOL.
We DID finish teh drywall Saturday, the guy was coming today to start the finishing work on it, so Wednesday or Thursday El and Akira should be able to start priming and painting.. and Saturday I think we're moving them in! Which is exciting.
We DID do yardwork at his parents house yesterday though, and also started cleaning out their garage. But like.. yikes. Still a lot to do, and only a week to do it in. Saturday is their moving sale, and then the closing is on the 25th so EVERYTHING needs to be out the 24th. Scary.
How are the dogs behaving together?
