Is Iz in the marching band too? I know she did band and stuff but wasn't sure if she joined the marching band then? I couldn't do it. I did marching band one year and was done. I could not play and march at the same time lol
Lily a senior is crazy. So hard to believe. These kids won't quit growing up!!!!
The whole childcare center isn't even about the kids...it's about learning how to run a center. I will do a small bit of observing classrooms, but not individual kids or even long term. More to get an idea of how the classrooms are equipped and ran and what policies they follow etc. And yes it will be a long semester. Ugh. I need to go do my other assignment but again...just NOT feeling it. I will get it done tho. I guess after having summer off I just don't want to do any school work??
Yeah, she joined marching band too.
I know, it is crazy! But it's kind of cool? I'm glad I get to be at the school to see all the fun stuff?
Ooooh. So that's kind of interesting. I obviously wouldn't have thought that LOL.
Ugh Iz and I went grocery shopping and I did not want to but if I didn't I wouldn't get to until Wednesday. I'm so exhausted. Her, too :P
I am doing my shopping today. It was pouring rain yesterday. I don't need a lot, but do need the things I need....otherwise I just wouldn't go do that either I have no time during the week for that!!!
It is great you are at the same school as your kids, I think that makes life easier and fun. I used to always want to be a fly on the wall when my kids were younger, so I could see what they are doing in class... Becoming a sub made it so I got a glimpse, and now, even tho it's not MY kids, I do know what kids do at school and I love it. I really do love my job I think part of me not wanting to do school work for college is that I know this is my last year and I will end up changing jobs, schools. I don't like a big change, and this is TWO at the end of this year...finish college and new job. And I know I'll have to go to a new school for work because there isn't a PreK spot open at mine But I have heard there should be one at the school my work friend went to, so I am going to try for that and hope for it....but it's still scary I guess. EDITED to add : I also know the principal there, and several other teachers who have moved over to that school, besides my work friend, so that kind of comforts me, but no guarantee I will get a job there....
[edit] 945am Ok STEM assignments done and turned in. Now to focus on what I need for Wednesday class as well as the Childcare stuff, since I start that this week. Fun. (NOT). Still aggravated I have to go two times a week. I am going to be SO EXHAUSTED all the time I think.
[edit] 530 Well I guess our meeting went ok. One person forgot, the others didn't bother to text her to remind her (so I didn't either, but I DID comment to see if anyone knew why she didn't log on and they were just like oh well lets just get going and she should join....but she never did... Anyway. We got the material divided up, and set up a meeting for next Sunday for reviewing the powerpoint and discussing the presentation (we did also decide Tay would present it - the guy), which is FINE by me :P I hate presenting.
And then I got looking at what I have to do next and I can't see anything for tomorrows class yet (maybe tomorrow morning I'll be able to, but its ok if not because I'll have all week to do whatever she puts up - some teachers do not release everything at once, others put it all out there, apparently she is a week by week person!)....and I printed off what I could for upcoming assignments, chapter powerpoint slides and then went to read the textbook but I don't have access to it (supposed to be an ebook) so I emailed the teacher and OF COURSE she has no idea how to access the book sigh AND I have a quiz by next sunday over the two chapters. SHEEEESH (I hope the powerpoints give enough info to pass it, if I cant get access to the book!!)
AND this is why I end up stressing and fussing over stuff for my classes :P If it was just straight forward and all accessable, I'd probably feel better about things. ANYWAY. I typed up a note to send to parents, as apparently I have to do a child case study AGAIN for the Wednesday (assessment) class. Yay. NOT. Get parental permission to use observations of the kiddos. AND I prepped everything to grab and go for tomorrow's in-person class, as well as going to the childcare center Tuesday.
In other news, my neighbor came over and mowed my front yard today, so its not a jungle (knee high weeds) however she cuts MUCH shorter than I do (she has a good, new mower, mine is crap and I keep it up high so I don't hit the ground with the blades when mowing). so now I have TONS of grass clippings that I really should go rake up, but I think all of my grass/leaf rakes are broken. Argh. :P Cannot win for losing eh?
Leave the grass clippings, they're good for the fireflies. It's not worth it. How nice of her to mow, though!
also.. ugh. To everything. I'd hate that, I'd want to have everything all together and know what was happening.
How did shopping go? It POURED this morning too, but thankfully we didn't get too wet, it happened when we were getting ready to leave church LOL.
Shopping was ... shopping. Normal. I did have to buy printer ink though so I spent extra. ugh :P BUT BUT BUT!!! I GOT HARRY POTTER DONUTS!!! :P
Its...a LOT of grass clippings tho. Like enough I'm almost worried it'll kill the grass under it where its piled up in clumps. I normally do not worry about them, but this time its a LOT....
I saw the pictures! Were they good?!
Ugh I've got such a busy week ahead LOL. Work at the school tomorrow from 8-10:30, then picking Lily up to drive 2 hours to her doctors appointment (I hope they can tell us what's wrong!), back to bring her to marching band (my friend is picking Izy up and bringing her on time!).
Tuesday I'm working at the school 5:30-1:30, then at the church from 2:15-5:15, then have a meeting from 6:15-8:15 LOL.
Wednesday is our last day of summer vacation, so we're going to do.. something fun, get ice cream, and we'll get donuts for breakfast on Thursday morning.
Then Thursday back to school from 7-1:30, and I have work 5-8 at the church LOL. Friday school from 7-1:30, I need to grab groceries, then football game.
I'm already tired :P
Eh. The cream filled ones had tasty cream. The frosting was really VERY sweet. I honestly don't really like Krispy Kreme donuts hahahah I am a Dunkin girl. BUT they were ok. Not great, not terrible. I do still want to try the sorting hat ones, if I could ever get lucky enough to find them. Just to be sorted by ... donut~ hehehe :P (I am a Ravenclaw by the sorting ceremony thing online I did forever ago).
Duck Donuts? :P I never heard of them until you, but you know what!? The PreK at my work friends new school decorated their classroom as Duck Donuts - the whole school was "sweet" themed - as in their theme was "Learning is Sweet at Crescent Elementary" - my friend works with the counselor (she is the behavior specialist) and they were the Dairy "Queens", so milkshakes and ice cream lol But I was so surprised someone down here knew about Duck Donuts!
I have work, in-person college class. Then work, childcare, then repeat for the next two days :P Then its Friday and whew, a bit of rest.
Oooh, that's so cute!
Lily wants Duck Donuts, but probably not, they're expensive. It'll be whatever they want, either Dunkin or KK. I guess we'll see then?
Yeah, krispy kreme are.. SO sweet. SO. SO. SO sweet.
Also. I'm watching Pretty Woman for the first time ever? Julia Roberts is so pretty with her curly hair.
Yeah, first time ever LOL. All I knew going in was she was a prostitute. Also man 90s clothes were so boxy I completely forgot.
Also IDK who Edward is but he's so pretty.
Yeah, I googled him. Richard Gere LOL.
I liked her hooker dress though, it did look good on her :P But YIKES, those boots and the wig haha.
It was.. fine? I liked it. I really liked the hotel manager.
Mmm, its been so long, I can't picture who the hotel manager is....what was his name?
I googled the cast, but I can't tell. I am thinking its Barney? Not sure (Hector Elizondo) ?
edit: 625am Monday oooh hahah I came back online this morning and noticed I got a forum point for this post :P
[edit] 545am Tuesday Well last nights in person class went ok. At least my other classmate showed up ;) Last few semesters, she mostly didn't. I really thought it would just be me and the teacher. The teacher did not open ANYTHING except the zoom link until she started class eyeroll Which, fine, I get it. BUT - it meant I didn't look at anything because I can't stand using my laptop and I have to do that when I am in person (which is why I bought it). But its so different for me. The zoom is sized differently, and its a smaller screen than I am used to, so all the writing is smaller too....I ended up confused a bit, but got it sorted out in the end, since I wasn't looking over the module during the zoom either - I normally DON'T do that. I pay attention to the teacher !! (Because I've usually already looked over the weeks module and know what to expect!) Eh well.
Today is the first day at the childcare. Hopefully my director remembers I am coming hahah! I called her Friday and spoke with her - she agreed Tues&Thurs was fine (She tried to cut me off stating she wasn't going to be available Monday - and I was like, oh thats perfectly fine, I have class Mon & Wed, so I'll need to come on Tues & Thurs?" and she was like, oooh ok! See you then! She doesn't have to be there EVERY time I go, she just needs to be there often enough to answer my questions or direct me to who can. She has an assistant director, so I can ask that person as well.
I am already tired just THINKING about what I have to do. I have realized I need to sort the final project information into my weekly schedule for that class, because it is NOT sorted into that, just the regular assignments are in there, nothing from the final project. GRRR Thats ok tho. I'll figure it out.
And of course, my next in person class is tomorrow. I need to try and do something for my part of our presentation, thankfully we don't have to do that until next week. Maybe I can do some research this afternoon - oh yes!! Main reason I mentioned tomorrows class - my book for that finally shipped!! I am still trying to figure out the practicum book (online one) but I think (I hope) it will be ok if I don't get that one.
[edit] 430pm WELL. BLAH Guess I get a reprieve on going to the childcare center. The background check I have, while still valid, is not portable to the center (its been over a year) so I have to do a new records check sigh I've got the application in, now I just need to get the email that tells me to set up an appointment and get that done. And now I've redone my anticipated work hours schedule, minus this week and labor day (I was hoping they'd be open, but they aren't) and added an extra day the week of thanksgiving (and somehow I missed a week in September anyway, so I added those hours in!!) Now I guess I'll go do my chapter reading and take my quiz. Since, you know, I have time :P Oh yes, I did finally get the online book - teacher error, as I thought - she had not added the link so we could access the book :P So the bookstore walked her through how to do that today she said LOL Hopefully the other one will arrive soon, so I will have all my books.
EDIT: So I read the chapters, reviewed the power points and then took the quiz. And heck no, I would have had a hard time to pass the quiz w/o reading the chapters. As it was, I got an 87%. (10 points total for the quiz, but it was 26 questions, so I have no idea how many I got wrong, or which ones, it won't let me review it) - I can take it again if I want to and it will keep the highest attempt, but since I don't know which ones I messed up on, I figure I'll just let it stand as is, since its a passing score. Now that I know I can't review them though, I will screen shot my questions hahaha. I only had 30mins to complete the quiz. If I get a bad grade, I want to be able to review the questions and hunt down the proper answers so that on my 2nd attempt I get a passing grade.
That's a good idea, to screenshot and review! Ugh, but I'm glad the book stuff got worked out, BOOOOOO on the clearances, but at least it's an easy fix. :(
Worked 5:30-2 at the school yesterday, then 2:15-5:15 at the church and had a meeting from 6-8:30 and basically I'm still so tired LOL. But! Last day of summer vacation! Yesterday was back to school for the teachers, so we did a big breakfast for both schools and then we just had a lot of other stuff to do LOL.
We always go to a playground or a park and for ice cream the day before school starts, and I think we may be going mini golfing, too?
Its only an easy fix if the dang director actually does what she's supposed to and right now I'm a bit scared she DIDN'T (and I know I shouldnt think that way, but I mean, it took her from Feb to July to sign the paper and I feel she only did because I had an extra copy in July!!!!) So what if she's saying she clicked the link and she didn't and then she claims she doesn't know why, and then 10 days expire and I have to redo the whole application and then I've lost all the time I could have had hours in and I don't have the hours and not a lot of time left to get hours ok I am spiraling a bit here. Need to stop. IT WILL ALL BE GOOD.
I am so overwhelmed right now. Just too much work too much at once for these classes and its MORE than it was even just last semester it feels like anyway and all this NOT happening crap isn't helping I guess.
I had ice cream today too - I got Wendys for dinner, AFTER class (might be part of my problem, I've been hangry?) and ate the dang frosty FIRST. Before I touched anything else. I was like, gimme my chocolate!
[edit] 8/28 412pm So I called the director earlier today, she now is saying they sent her an email that is asking a bunch of questions and she hasn't had time to get to it, to answer those questions. ??? OK ??? (surely it can't take more than 5-10 mins to do that?? I wouldnt' think anyway!!) So then she suggested I just do the application through the college again like last time...and I was like, Um I'm not sure I can ? (The one I have is through the college, it is still VALID, surely I can't do another one through them just because it can't be ported? But I can do a new one to the new location, the childcare center...) ANYWAY. I asked my professor. Who said the lady who does the background checks has been telling people to go through their directors, but I could call her if i want to. Umm, no, why bother if we already know she is telling people to go through their director? So instead, I get to wait on the director. sigh
[edit] 825pm Oh yay. More Shane/Anna drama. And they're trying to claim its Ryan drama. Honestly its maybe all of them I guess :P Shane asked me today to move all the baby stuff out or to move my stuff so they can get to the baby stuff, and during the course of the conversation I asked if he was going to take his dresser, he keeps saying yes/no to that - and he said, yeah, but he wanted to rent a pickup truck or van, instead of scratching up his (shiny new, grandpa bought) jeep (grand cherokee) by putting the dresser and the crib in it I reminded him, dad says the crib stays here "What? Huh?" Yeah, you know this. Dad says the crib stays here, you can't take the crib. "Well, he gifted it to us, its ours." Yeah. But dad says the crib stays here. "Fine, whatever, bye" Then Anna texts me, "can you pull all of MY stuff out of the room, all the baby things and I'll come get them, I don't want to deal with Ryan and his drama"
EXCUSE ME? What drama? There is literally NO drama happening unless the two of them make it happen over the freaking crib, WHICH by the way, I told Shane he could not take when they first started taking baby things to the house in Thomaston - so he already KNEW this, just forgot - and is now making his own drama about it (and I REALLY wanted to type that to Anna - "There is no drama unless YOU guys make drama about it" but I didn't) sigh Yes. Me in the middle again. Kind of have to be since the stupid crib is at my house. So I ask Anna (nicely) to tell me WHEN they are coming, as I'd already told Shane I would move the stuff out of the middle room for easier access, since they "didn't want to move your stuff" eye roll really? You can't move some chairs and water bottles??? Ok She was like "I'll come get it tomorrow" EXCUSE ME? ITs 8pm I am not about to go move crap right now - NO. I tell her I am NOT moving things tonight, she can come tomorrow evening after I get off work or Saturday, so I have time to move shit. "Fine I'll come Saturday" At least she said thank you to me for being willing to move the stuff out so they can get it? Like I wouldn't be happy to have half of that room back for crying out loud? HONESTLY! Gah. ARGH. KIDS
In nicer, better news, I was just on the phone with a classmate for 45minutes hahaha all for a 2minute question "where do you want this picture on the presentation?" And then we chitchatted. It was nice.
OMG I think I'd move all their stuff out to the lawn tbh. And hope it rained. What little jerks! Also, YOU'VE been storing their stuff.. it wouldn't kill them to move a few of your things out of their way! Also, they're young and (reasonably) strong. Like.. com'n!
YAY for getting your work stuff happening, I'm glad you messaged me about it LOL. I just have the hardest time subetaing on my phone :/ And sometimes there's just not enough time to sit at the computer LOL.
That's nice though, that you got to sit and chitchat! It's something everyone needs sometimes :)
We won again last night, and Izy remembered to play all her notes.. and Lily remembered she's in charge and needs to count :P They did a great job! But OMG the other band.. first of all, they're bigger, about 1.5/2 times ours? But they did The Devil Goes Down to Georgia and the MALLET PERCUSSION did the fiddle parts and it was SO. COOL. They ran around and switched places and it was so cool to see them getting to take the main stage, because uh.. that never happens LOL. Just very very cool to watch! I think they're going to do pretty well with their competition scores this year.
Us... well.. I don't know. I guess we'll see? :P
What are you doing with the long weekend? Izy, Alex and I are staying home today and Monday, and tomorrow morning we're going hiking them Izy and I are going to the grocery store before Sunday dinner.
Honestly I think it was more of a respect, don't want to touch your stuff w/o permission - but in that case, just ask for permission. Shane ought to know I'd not care anyway. Especially stuff that is just stored. Now he goes touching my personal items (bras, bathroom stuff) or my harry potter stuff or my CPKs he might get in trouble hahahah :P Anyway they are on their way over now to get it, and its all in the LR anyway, tho I had a hard time getting the stupid bassinet out of the doorway, no idea how they got it in there in the first place!!! I had to take the feet off. (its a tall standing bassinet on wheels with a little cloth basket underneath to hold baby supplies) And honestly, while they probably are both more than strong enough, they're both lazy as hell in my opinion :P
Ooohh that would have been so fun to watch!! I LOVE that song hahahah (got to, being from Georgia, right? LOL) But I've always enjoyed bands moving around and doing routines. Even small ones when they do good, but bigger ones are just so fascinating!!!
Today I went to the doctor, got my prescriptions re-ordered as I was out of refills, and did the biometric screening for my insurance rewards program. Then I went to Barnsville for my fingerprints and stopped in Milner on my way back, at Swints candy store (I got peanut butter cups, two, they are HUGE, two HUGE turtles and a square of raspberry cheesecake fudge!!) Then I stopped at Buckalews and got bbq for lunch. VERY VERY VERY bad of me, I spent $60 total, just because I was in the area because of the fingerprinting hahahaha oh well. It was YUMMY (the bbq, I am saving the treats for later).
I will work on my phenomena assignment this weekend - I picked my three science experiment/observations and now have to actually DO the things. And take a look at whatever I can that is coming up next and work on that some. I guess I need to do chores around the house, borrow my neighbors lawn mower maybe, and also go shopping tomorrow or Monday to get whatever I end up deciding I need from shopping.
Oooh man, the treats sound so good though! And the BBQ.. though we had ribs and cauliflower today, and they were also incredible. And not too expensive really, since the ribs were only like $22? Though of course, they did have to be cooked all day :P
I just ate half of a turtle. Oooh man. Yum. I ate a little over half of the BBQ plate. I got myself a brisket plate and I got Nathan a BBQ pork plate Both plates came with two pieces of Texas toast, fries and Brunswick stew. The brisket came with three slices. I ate almost two slices, the fries and one piece of toast. I put the rest in the fridge for tomorrow.
Then I borrowed my neighbor's lawnmower after Nathan went to work and mowed the lawn. The guy who I've had fixing my mower hasn't called me back. It needs the belt replaced, and new blades too.
[edit] Sunday 2pm Mmmm. Wonder how my classmate is feeling. So its a group of 4 of us, me and him have completed our slides, the other two have not put a THING on a slide (I can only hope they've at least done research and have notes or something!) But we have a 4pm zoom meeting, which was to go over the power point, fix anything anyone disagreed about, and be done, so K has time to practice presenting it before class on Wed. Hope the two get a move on..... I only went to it again because one of those two sent me some pix to add to my part, so I went and did that. And noticed they still had not done anything. K had done his part before I did mine. edit: 430pm - nope. neither did anything. One girl says she'll get her stuff in tonight, the other was busy at some family event, and while she was ON the zoom meeting, barely talked - and so the first said she'd text that one and get her info and put it in too, as the other girl may not have enough time. Ugh. This is why I hate group projects. I always seem to get stuck with last minute people. I hate that. I am SO NOT LAST MINUTE!
[edit] Monday 845am Trying to do some of my school work. And ugh. I reallllly do not like this administrative practicum class AT ALL. I am having to do a child care center philosophy statement (I already struggled enough trying to do a personal one and I know at some point I have to REDO it, edit it to make it show what I've learned over the past two years and currently believe in) AND I have to work on a budget for a non-existant childcare program. Meaning, I am pretending that I am trying to build a new center, and I need to draft a budget for it by using the examples from the book and information I can gather from my center. UGH
1220pm Meh! Took next quiz. Was 16 questions this time (with 18 minutes to complete the quiz!! WHAT?!!!) Anyway. I got an 85 this time.. (8.58 of 10 points) I'll take it. Its passing. Stupid quizzes. I think they purposely change the wording to catch you off guard. I know I almost didnt' catch one answer as T/F - but fixed it when I realized....but again, cannot go and see which questions I actually DID get wrong. So not bothering to retake it for a higher grade. I will only do that if I get below an 80 I guess.
