Congrats!! I got the turtle soup one too I think... I think the rest are going to be too strong for me to do much. But I'll do a little bit.
Supposed to downpour today and tomorrow from the hurricane. Fun. I hate getting wet and I have car rider duty this week. Ugh.
[edit] 530pm Well I think "all GSCS operations will be cancelled on Thursday and Friday" pretty much means "DO NOT COME TO WORK" right? :P So I have the next two days off and NO GETTING WET IN CAR RIDER! YAY! :P
My power already flickered once from the storm, and my internet went out from that of course. Hopefully it wont again, since I have class, but I popped on and sent an email in case it does. I'm sure EVERYONE in the class is being affected the same way, but this way I have written proof of why I did not attend class if my internet is out :P 730 - class is over, surprisingly there were no power or internet issues, but it stormed pretty bad through part of class! I like that this class is short and sweet hahaha :P
[edit] 1020am WELL DANG! I just made it through the ice fields for the first time in.... probably over 10 years!!
Congrats on the ice fields!
Had to go in early today.. and now I have to make dinner for youth group and then go to work at the church. I really don't want to. I'm half dead. IDK how you do everything you do!
Well I know it sounds like a lot, but I guess I don't feel like it is? Except on days I'm exhausted. I think you actually GO and DO more than I do, since you have kids at home still. I work. 715-315. I have college class Mon and Wed nights 6-whenever (730-9). I do coursework on other days. Shopping and household stuff on Saturdays.
See, it's not really all that much lol. I enjoyed not having classes over the summer, while at the same time I missed it. I have no idea how I will feel next fall when I have to do extra hours at a childcare center on top of everything. Or when I'm all done with college and have graduated. I'm already wondering if I'll end up wanting and getting a masters degree or a specialist degree (I e been told those take an extra one or two years each).
That still seems like a lot.. because there's a lot of schoolwork!
I only work 9-1:30 (mostly), and then another 6 hours LOL. And I'm EXHAUSTED.
I feel like the course work varies each time. Some classes is a lot, some is barely anything. This 8 weeks it has been pretty easy, except the papers. I have to do another paper this weekend. Ugh. Forgot about it. Got to find 2 articles, read them, discuss them in the paper, with references and quotes. Yay what fun.
Ok I found two articles. Have NOT read them :P I changed it up and went to my other class, and did the 12-24m lesson plan. We had to pick social emotional or literacy, I included them both :P It was easy. I did another song hahahah If you're happy and you know it. Haven't turned it in yet, but its done. I also watched the video, and took notes for that discussion.
I did do the discussion in the first class (the one I have to read the articles for). AND replied 2x. So there is something done in BOTH classes.... Oh yes, did I say I made the sock doll? I also have the stuff to make spinners, trying to figure out the best way. I have paper, dowel rod, popsicle sticks and clasps, and am trying to figure out how to make the pinwheel spin and it be safe (my orignal thought was a pencil with a pin stuck through the paper into the eraser but realized kids can't play with that hahahah so I'm hot gluing the clasp to the dowel rod and hoping it still spins somehow. I"ll figure it out and make it work. Also hoping the helicopter spinner will work - popsicle sticks glued together and to the top of a dowel rod....:P
edit: 110pm Ok the lesson plan is turned in. The paper is written and turned in. Now to play with spinner toys I guess. I wanted to use construction paper, but forgot I don't have any at home. I'll see if I can get it to work with printer paper for now, and maybe redo it Monday night before class with colored paper! My popsicle sticks are plain too but oh well! :P I might draw a design on them with marker or something to make them a bit more colorful. AND am debating making another sock doll. I had originally thought of making 3, in 3 types of "skin tones" (white, tan, black) but couldn't find a pack of socks with those colors. I did get black and white (and blue). I have to come up with WHY the toy benefits the child (typical or atypical) and in what domain. Dolls are social emotional, for atypical children. Provides comfort, can be used to discuss situations/act out situations or emotions. Spinners are for typical children. Physical Development - Benefits hand/eye coordination, small motor skills (spinning the pinwheel or helicopter with the hands/fingers, as well as picking it up), gross motor, you have to run after it when it flies (the helicopter one)... hmm what else can I think of :P
What about using a plastic straw for your stick? You can stick a brad right through it..
Just nab one next time you get fast food haha.
We've used straws to do them before at VBS and the library.
It's an overcast, gorgeous day outside. I shaved my legs last night, washed my sheets today. Went out and got a coffee and groceries. All the bills are paid, there's chicken stock boiling away on the stove, and I've got nowhere to be today.
It's a good day.
I have had a totally lazy day. Stayed in PJs and in bed reading almost all day.
Yay for all the bills being paid! That's a good feeling. I am going shopping for a few things tomorrow. I don't really need to get a lot.
Am debating a bed frame and moving the queen mattress out of my closet.
Drama I didn't talk about yet is because I'm not sure when or honestly even IF it is going to happen...is Shane told his dad and I he wants to divorce Anna and move back home. He has a few steps to take before he can do that, the first being getting his old bank account fixed up so he can change direct deposit to it and not their/her account at the other bank. However he also keeps talking about buying her birthday gifts, and doing things with her (they want to have a dinner/game night with me one weekend soon for instance)....and like today he took a few more of HIS things down to the apartment...why do that if you are planning to leave? He makes me so confused.
[edit] 745am Sunday Man I can't believe my 4 day "weekend" is almost over. I have enjoyed this break, although I didn't like the rain for 2 days straight part!
Katie told me there were 2 tornados in her area due to the storm (did not impact her physically) and her power is out and they were told it might be out until mid-October!! WHAT? :o I told her they are always welcome to come stay here, even if for a few days, because I know he has work, and she has work/school. So they aren't just sitting home in the dark or anything but still.. She said Wes's mom has been encouraging them to come stay up here too.
I did not do ANY quests yesterday so I'm trying to get them all done today. I did do them all Thurs and Fri so there is that at least. I did go do my shopping this morning, not that I got a whole lot (frozen dinners, ice cream, soda for Nathan. I am terrible at saying no and sticking to it. I can't just NOT get the kid things when he asks. UGH) I did tell him again he needs to get a job so he can buy his OWN sodas at least. I really wish I knew what was holding him back. I can only assume its social anxiety or something because he SAYS he is putting in applications. But he refuses to follow up on them by going in or making phone calls, so... yeah. I dunno.
This morning, I double checked my assignments and realized I had not posted in the 2nd class discussion thread. So, I did that and made 1 response (only 3 people had posted before me and only 1 I felt like I could really respond to so I'll wait til tomorrow or Tuesday and see who else I can respond to). I also wrote down my upcoming assignments. I have a plan for my diorama, but not many items to go on it yet. I need to get started on that I guess. Ugh. I did pick up a cute easel/canvas in the craft section when I was looking for glue sticks for the glue gun LOL After all, I have to have an art center. I have popsicle sticks and toilet paper tubes to make swingset/slide/tunnel/climbing wall etc. And I am going to take my candle lids to make tables. Debating putting toothpicks or small popsicle sticks under for legs. Hmm. Also debating painting or construction paper covers for the table tops/popsicle sticks etc.
Oh my goodness, hopefully the power is on MUCH sooner than mid October! :(
As for Nathan.. I've got no advice. :( Lily is starting her new job soon, they're supposed to open the beginning of October so.. we'll see what happens!
Good luck with your diorama!
Yeah, she got a new job and quit Old Navy. They kept sending her home early, and honestly, it was just too far away.
Ahh I see. Yeah I would be annoyed if I had to drive a bit far away and they'd send me home early! HECK no. You let me work the hours agreed upon! I don't even know what site Nathan is looking at to do online applications but apparently it has jobs all over the state? One of the things he said was he didn't want to commute for an hour for a job. Well heck no, me either. I'm like, DUDE, just like, GO INTO THE TACO BELL AND APPLY (*or whatever restaurant/business) But he won't. Or find a way to apply for local positions only on that site. Sheesh.
edit: Congratulations! You just unlocked the Underground Fishing Avatar Border! You've earned the Underground Fishing Fan achievement!
[edit] 630am I have fought Mini Gelatins 1075x this year (Sheli 225, other 17 pets 50 each) my achievement is at 1782/2500 I have fought Gelatin Gliders 295x this year (Sheli 125, other 17 10x each) my achievement is at 447/500 (I may try for more with Sheli) I have fought the Golom 30x this year (Sheli only), achievement is at 55/80 I have fought the turtle one 10x (sheli only) this year and got the 15/15 achievement. Fought the wizard once and lost. I'm done unless I fight small ones more.
Honestly, most places won't let you apply in person anymore, unless they're having actual hiring days. But like.. you have to go TO the websites THEY want, not through like.. indeed or anything.
I'm so tired.
Well I know for a fact that the Taco Bell (which is why I used it as an example) has a sign that says "inquire within" - I do know that a lot of fast food places have you text a specific number to apply.... Its why I haven't gone all ballistic on him, about applying online. BUT somethings got to change and he's GOT to get a job. I KNOW fast food is hiring. I always see signs there. Usually places like walmart or dollar general are almost always hiring too. Any retail store really. He needs to step up his game SOMEHOW
What did you do today? I worked :P And redecorated the bulletin board and door. Not quite done with the door. I left the old butcher paper up but took down all the decor and put up different ones. I have pumpkins, need to put the kids names on them, and gonna see if I can find the fence for the pumpkin patch. Then those need to go up and some kids work, and I'm done. (I have some chicka chicka name trees and some 10 apples up on top papers I can put on the Bboard.)
I have class tonight. Brought home my "game" materials (rolled paper tubes, and unifix cubes LOL I have a measuring tape here at home as well). I have my doll, my helicopter spinner (that honestly doesn't work right because the blades arent twisted but oh well) and my pinwheel - I washed my zaxbys straw and used a thumbtack, If I was giving it to kids I would hot glue the back of it. Stole some pretty colored paper to cut and make the pinwheel (taped it back together) so I'd not have a plain one. Guess I'm ready for class :P As long as I remeber what I need to say about the game/toys. Gonna print off the papers I turned in for them. - Hmm wait. not sure I turned in a paper for the toys. i think that is due next Monday which is weird since we have to show the toys off today? Oh well. Unless I'm mixed up and I don't need the toys today in addition to the games but I swear thats what she said.
[edit] 725 Oh for freaking crying out loud. Thanks to my idiotic classmates, the teacher just added another WEEK to our class. The only good thing is that gives me more time to do my diorama. The bad thing is, now I have class Monday Oct 14 (I thought I did before anyway, but I didn't because next 8 weeks doesn't start til Oct 16, I thought it started Oct 14 - that Monday that the teacher is now holding the final class. sigh AND we are having a 30min break because over half the dang class didn't bring their TOYS OR their GAMES!! WHAT? Do you guyys not even LOOK at the schedule? Ugh. I have BOTH. I am ready. ARGH. She's giving them 30min to find/get/make the toys.
She also already gave us like 5-10m to "color a picture of yourself playing" - while she went and browsed some of our lesson plans, because me and a couple others said we were unsure we did some of it right. Before that she was going over how "some" of the class didn't have assignments turned in yet, and some weren't responding to classmates on the discussion thread, so they were losing points for that... Guys, really? Its NOT that hard. Annoying yes sometimes, but not HARD to keep up with the work. I know I complain about it sometimes, but I GET IT DONE.
edit: Class ended around 9. We will show our games next week, do the powerpoint she had prepared next week. AND then do our dioramas Oct 14. sigh still annoyed. Oh well. She did say my lesson plan was pretty good. She pointed out a few errors (not specifically but in general) to some of the others she'd had time to look at, and told us she'd get them graded and back to us asap. She did say she did not expect any of us to change the lesson plan based on what she told us - as for some of them - they completely did NOT follow instructions of the age group. Honestly she confuses the crap out of me when she thinks she's explaining something sometimes. I was VERY confused last night over how she was explaining what to do for the lesson plan vs game but I decided NOT to worry about it because I know MINE matches. And if she doesn't tell me my game isn't right, I'm sticking to it. (she was giving advice to those who private texted her their ideas of games - verbal responses, yes that works, no not that, etc) and asked me if I had any questions. I said no, but if she could check the game I already submitted and tell me if I had to do something different that would be nice. :P
I just worked, but that was enough to make me tired :P
And yeah, DG is ALWAYS hiring, and they really do just want you to walk in!
That would drive me nuts.. you shouldn't be punished because no one else can get their act together!
Lily has an MRI at 7:30 tonight. So late.. but I'm glad we didn't have to take off work and school at least!
Wow that is late for an appointment. But yes. Nice that you don't have to take off work or school.
I wouldn't call it being punished, not really. It's just annoying to me. I was telling one of the teachers I work with about it and she was like " get used to that. You do what you are supposed to and the principal will give more time because no one else did!" I was like...yeah I've seen that a bit. I just didn't expect it in class.... I guess I feel, why set a due date if you aren't going to enforce it? Just make everything due by the end of the term or something then.
Exactly. IDK, I see it as punishment. As in life. It's not fair to set a date and then change it because most people can't get their acts together, you know?!
I see where you are coming from. I know what you mean. I just don't see it as a punishment, the same way you do.
Sitting in my car waiting on the door to be unlocked so I can do my mammogram and then go next door for the rest of my appointment for lady stuff. And my biometric screening.
I went to human resources and got the form filled out and the paper notarized that I need for the decal incentives payment, and then stopped by the health department (vital records) to be told they don't do the certificates for stillborns. Only birth and death. There is a state office that does, but it's not in town obviously...so back to getting Shane to give me a copy of his DL and then I can mail in to ask for the form....hmmm.... How do I ask him for that w/o Anna knowing I am asking, or either of them wanting to know why I want it. Eh. Well I guess it is just something that will have to be done later if/when he ever leaves/divorces her.
[edit] 820 Well class ended a little later than usual tonight (not too late tho!). Figures on the day I have a headache, and apparently so did about 2 or 3 others in my class. We were all out of it today. Eh. Get to do a Curriculum Unit this week for our assignment, turn it in, and then also present it next week for our final class presentation. Have to come up with a theme, and activities for each domain for each day for a week. As well as adaptations/assessment/family involvement etc type of stuff to go with it. What fun. :P I can do it. As well as the usual discussion thread and 2 replies.
What fun that all sounds like! :(
I just see it as apunishment to have to do another whole week tbh, like.. I'd want to be done when I thought I'd be done. :P
That sounds like fun though, I think I'd enjoy that. Especially with 3-4 year olds! Fall/Halloween themed maybe?! So many fun games and crafts...
