Thank you :)
And the point of D&D is to screw over the DM. So it doesn't surprise me your players are staying out of combat XD
yes, the first 4 or 5 seasons. I stopped after 1 or 2 seasons of Niam/Liam with the bat Lucile. Not fun anymore.
& Duckie Sometimes a couch potato is good. I taped some stuff i watched and then i started the good wife, good show.
i do hope it's good news from the biopt. -crosses fingers-
Hi everyone. Been lurking. lol I played D&D since the beginning in the 80's live for over 20 years, and now online rp over 10. I had probably 50+ charas altogether, tho maybe 10 were main ones. I rp with just two people, each with several characters, now tho.
Chrysariel is my main one, tho I also rp any NPC's in her life, her kids, their spouses, and their kids too at times. lol If you read Khan's story, its about him and Chrys, tho many many things have happened since then. Ha.
I used to design and draft floorplans of all kinds of houses, temples, shops, and a castle or two, for fun and use in D&D campaigns. Also did a seaport town once. We played there so often for so many years I can smell the early morning bread baking mixing with the salt air and the wild jasmine from the surrounding hills. Wish it was real instead of fantasy because I would love to live there.
Oh, and I learned early on that when you are the DM all your prep and careful thought out plans for any campaign would be completely changed because of the players choices. You have to keep ahead of them! lol I also learned when they were fooling around or not paying attention to suddenly drop the three trolls or dragon on them I'd prepared for just that occurrence. You always give leeway for ideas and creativity - it wouldn't be any fun otherwise! But, as DM it is up to you to keep the focus on the game, what they need to learn or do, and keep the pace so its interesting. I loved puzzles so I always put them in every campaign. Some were really elaborate, and some were simpler. Sometimes I was really surprised when I considered something to be obvious and it took them forever to figure out. The opposite was also true, of course. I still miss playing like that every now and then.
Hi guys, I've been lurking too....
I take blood thinners, so I have to limit my green vegetables, but I stilll eat them. Other veggies that are lower in K include green beans, peas, carrots, potatoes, celery, corn, and zucchini. It's a bit trickier for me, as I also need my veggies to be as low carb as possible.
I know it is! I'm not disappointed about the combat that much, because we're still all having fun.
Before I started working out my campaign I asked a friend for advice and he showed me this youtube video: railroad vs sandbox . Which I really thought was good advice. When I worked out the campaign I worked out lots of details about the world, it's politics and some main npc's. Basically the bad guys in my campaign have their own agenda they will follow through on. If the players manage to stop one of their plans, I will think of a way for them to adapt. If the players are doing something else, they will carry out their plan and the players will notice their mission seems te be failing. I feel like the amount of preparing I do between sessions is actually manageable. I prepare a possible encounter, think of what the party was doing and how they're likely going to continue, and think of what the bad guys were doing and how they're going to continue.
But some of the clues I dropped early on weren't picked up so at some point a few sessions ago I basically had to make an npc throw the information in their face, because otherwise they would have failed their mission altogether (they had a week to save someone from being executed).
I haven't seen that show yet. I'm now watching a hulu show called Only Murders in the Building. There's only one season yet, so it's a pity I have to wait for the next one when I finish it.
I'm in two online D&D campaigns right now, one with close friends that's quite fun and silly, and the other is a long-haul campaign. Last Saturday for the long-haul, one of our players didn't show up on time (she does get up at 3am to play since she's in Japan lol) so our DM whipped together a one-shot for the three of us players. Turns out it was just the original Donkey Kong video game and we were the "Heroes of the Realm" a la Mario & Luigi. It was super fun and incredibly ridiculous. When our late player showed up, she had to play the companion character, Toad.
We had a ton of fun and it just goes to show how diverse our DM is. He was able to pivot to something rather quickly and played into our silly characters (I have a bard literally based off one of my cats that's my one-shot go-to). The combat was well-balanced and the two maps we were on were simple yet fun.
In our actual campaign, we almost had a TPK in the second session. Our DM miscalculated the enemy's stats and it was bruuuutal. We left the session feeling kind of sour (3 of us were dead dead), but the DM messaged us all later to apologize and let us know how we'd proceed with the game. We were given the option to roll a new character or be resurrected with a curse so the KOs made for some great plot hooks and even pushed my character's backstory further up the timeline.
I think the key to a good session is to simply communicate with each other honestly! DMs hold the world-building in their hands and definitely put a ton of work into the game, and players can respect that while also having fun.
- hugs if i had gotten the news you did i would be a basket case. i'm glad it was caught earl. ii'm keeping my fingers crossed that the biopsy comes back negative. :D ( i am a little disappointed that it's not our future alien overlord. :P )
- i perfectly agree. everybody should be a couch potato at one time or another. :D i'm happy you had a relaxing day.i stopped watching the walking dead at about the same point. the guy with the bat (lucille) was why. he was just over-the-top unbelievable. who was your favorite character from the seasons you liked? mine was darryl, of course. my hubby got me a little plastic doll of him. :)
- thank you for that info. :)
- i never gm'd a game. i always had fun, though. our gaming sessions always devolved into raucous laughter because the players united against the gm to see how fast and how badly we could trash his plans for us. (nothing was done in malice.it was all done in good fun. :D )
- i hope you are feeling better. :) this will be my first survival in 7 years so i'm stoked. :D
Thank you :)
Hi :)
Nice! And, yes, I'm ready for zombie time again =D
Watching long videos about The Last of Us series so definitely getting in the mood XD
huggles back
It's happened once before so if I have reason to panic later, I will. And, hey, maybe our future alien overlord takes on strange forms.
On the Walking Dead (need to catch back up but Brian isn't up for a rewatch and it doesn't feel right watching without him) I like the guy who plays Negan. Perfect use of Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
I think we stopped watching shortly after Negan was captured by Rick.
lol correct. Yep the man with the bat did it for me, no fun and it was dragging. I was/am fan of Daryll & Rick.
oh they are cute!
i have seen it before but forgot most of it and as there was nothing on tv i started again.
Just had my paperwork/contract from my new job. Signed them. Still waithing for a reply from my (now) boss. I asked if they could reply me when they got my letter/email in good order. Nothing... bit sad. If i haven't heard from them on the 16th i will contact them again as then 10 days past.
This will also be my first survival in god knows how many years! Looking forward to it.
I hope you'll hear back soon from your boss. Do you have a chance to see them in person or are they not at the location you work at?
That is a cute dog in the first picture!
sounds like a great DM. I feel like I still have loads to learn. I have he feeling my party will start asking difficult questions about my world next session, so I really need to prepare for it.
- the walking dead was so good in the beginning. i wonder if they'll ever be toreturn to that level of awesome. whois negren? sorry , but i only seem to remember the names of the original group members. (in that case i shall return to patiently waiting for his arrival... :D :P )
- i'm with lone on this, i hope your current co-workers aren't upset with you once they find out you're leaving.holding in that secret must be really difficult. i commend you on your ability to keep the secret. i'm not sure i could. i've heard of the good wife but never watched it. what's it about?
- apparently there are a lot of new skins. i've been told that i may be able to get 4 or 5 of them in the time survival is running because they all have to mature through stages. i wonder if subeta will mind if my ha runs around with no clothes so i (hubby) can quickly tell what stage i'm in and whether or not i can try for another one. there's supposed to be something that cures your zombiness but i don't remember what it is.i'm excited. :D
my boss has 2 locations and i hardly seem him, this week is no better as i have eveningshifts. I did email him asking for a reply.
still find it hard to keep it a secret....
The good wife is about a woman who goes back to law after her husband goes to jail. It's with Julianna Margulies (also known from ER). I love ER favorite tv show from the 90's. For the dutchies each day on tv on rtl 8 at 5pm
Just got home from my evening shift.... tired and my poor feet hurt. Oh and a bit cold.
- is it like law and order or ncis? i remember er. i loved george clooney on it. my favorite show from the 90s was friends. loved joey. sorry you've got evenings for work. maybe next week will be better? poor feet. have you tried one of those tubs that massage your feet in warm water while you sit on the sofa? it might help. :D
Negan has the bat named Lucille. He really did seem to be having fun with the role and he's very easy on the eyes XD
nope can't compre it ncis or law & order. Still good. Oh i am a big fan of Law & Order SVU. And i loved friends to, bit sick now of the eternal reruns here....
I had a very hot shower and it was much better then. Just had to walk a lot, loads of calls and bring people to bed. Tonight will be a bit easier as i am not 1st but second evening shift...
- so you like the character that is the reason i don't watch the show anymore. lol i'll forgive you as he is nice to look at. i just don't like the character. :P
- hot showers are always excellent. hubby found good wife for me. don't remembre which one he said it's on, i think netflix? i think i'll listen to it instead of reading the boring book i can't seem to stay awake through. :D i hope you have a good evening at work. :)
Thanks for forgiving me n.n
My favorite character is Merle. Hated that when he finally returned to the show he only got one season. ARG xD
He's one of many characters I love but wouldn't like him if he were real.
been busy with season one, think episode 12 now. I like reading books, always read a few pages in bed before i go to sleep. To clear my head and relax.
Oh boy it was cold last night when i went home, could not get warm even after a hot shower. But bed warmed me up, used a few blankets. Today is a nother cold day, still a bit sleepy and lazy so still in pj. Not clue what to put on and not in a mood yet..
Have you heard from your boss yet? It was really cold last night indeed. I did not see it coming, but when I took our dog for an evening walk I had to wear a scarf and hat for the first time in weeks.
Have you listened to the Discworld books? I have this app on my phone called Podcast Addict, and it has all the Discworld books for free. It also has the Sherlock Holmes books read by Stephen Fry and a great dramatic reading of pride and prejudice by some Australian Theatre Company.
