We've been eating this way for nearly two years. My health is good, I'll be 65 in May. No diabetes, no heart disease. Unfortunately, doctors are not taught much nutrition in medical school, so we have to cut them some slack when they spout this no red meat bullcrap. The same goes for this plant-based craze - it's just not healthy.
That crochet doll is amazing. Makes me want to learn. Do you mind if I ask a bit about your process for making these?
If you ever get the chance to see the play I can highly recommend it. I really want to do another play at some point, but I have the feeling it's not going to happen the next year or two. We've been putting it off because of covid, and now some of my friends have financial issues so it doesn't make sense to take the financial risk of doing another play.
Good that your dinner went well! I hope you're enjoying your free weekend. We went on a short hike near Wassenaar today and ate in a pancake restaurant afterwards. Now I'm going to watch "wie is de mol?".
Wow, that doll looks so impressive! How long did it take you to learn to make these kind of things?
I hope I can trust my sense of hunger and feeling full one day. Right now, if I don't count calories I'll be back to eating way too much in no time. There's so many mixed messages these days about what is healthy and what isn't. I'm just trying to do my best with calorie counting and eating as healthy as possible.
step one is find or buy a pattern. Generally they are made up of single and double crochet with increases and decreases worked in rounds. You make a ball for the head and then the arms then legs you join to the body. I am not the best explainer. You can find free patterns, but the better ones are a few bucks on etsy.
thank you.
I started crocheting in my teens and then didn't do it for a long time and picked it up again in my thirties. I only started making dolls two years ago. Online tutorial help.
- that's all i ask... ;)
- i'm glad the dinner with your mom went well. i don't think i've ever been to a restaurant like that before. sounds like you have a weekend freeof chores. that's always fun. are you going to couch potato it?
- it's wonderful that you have been able to find a diet that works for you. i, on the other hand, have a difficult time with my diet. i'm diabetic and have a serios heart issue. thats why i was asking how the diet worked fr those with diabetes and heart problems.why do you say that most doctors are wrong about red meat and cheese?and why are the vegan/vegetarians wrong?
thanks! Oh love the doll!
your saturday was nice to i see! This season i just can't stick with wie is de mol... after a few minutes i get bored and it's to hectic for me. So doing the app poules and guesses.
it was nice! And it's not all chore free just a few small things still left and see if i can be a couch potato.
So i am going to tell you guys something i haven't told anyone and i am nervous about it. I am leaving healthcare... Been struggeling with it for a while now, as it does not make me happy anymore, the pay is crap, hours are not always fun, it's getting heavier menthaly and physically... So not doing it until i can get a pension in about 25-30 years.
Well and i did apply for a few jobs online and guess what i got an interview today at 4:30pm, they asked as it was short notice if i could and since i am off i can. Not saying wat kind of job just wanna see if they want me first. -fingers crossed-
The food industry has been putting unreal amounts of sugar in our food for about 50 years now. It makes me really sad to see the HUGE amount of overweight people in our countries, and it's totally caused by the crap we're eating. There is a growing list of doctors speaking out against the food industry. The ones I follow are: Martin Clinic - Facebook, website, daily podcast Dr. Rob Cywes - known as CarbAddictionDoc, Dr. Ken Berry - Facebook, Youtube Dr. Eric Berg - Youtube, daily podcast
Duckie, vegetarian/vegan diets just don't provide the nutrients and vitamins that are found in eggs, meat, and cheese. Vitamin B12 is not found in the plant kingdom. People on those diets are also often deficient in iron and calcium.
Changing the way we eat is an uphill battle, but has to be done.
you are very right! Our food has become so much more unhealthy. I've been looking at all the labels of stuff I've been buying and so much stuff has added sugar in it. even yoghurts and the slices of smoked chicken to put on a sandwich have extra sugar. For my calorie counting I've been using an app funded by the Dutch government to support people making healthy choices, but I feel like they're forcing me to eat too many carbs. I entered that I have some chicken into the app, and it told me it was unhealthy because "people add salt to chicken"... Well, I didn't, but it never asked me that. I'll check out the doctors you mentioned.
I did have a nice saturday, thank you! I have some Wie is de mol poules with friends, but I've already lost a lot of points, so I'll probably end up last. I liked last night's episode, but I still have no idea who the mole is.
I only know how to crochet in a straight line. It's all I've been taught in elementary school. I tried knitting a few years ago, but I've never gotten further than knitting a scarf.
How has your weekend been sofar? Are you feeling better?
I wish you the best with the job hunting :)
thanks! Interview went well, nice people but they are not sure if they have enough hours for me, etc. They will let me know somewhere upcoming week. But until then looking further.
I am in some poules to. Guessing it’s Kim-Lian but as I am not looking anymore but random guessing… So far I have points to play.
I'm guessing it's either Kim-Lian or Everon. I actually like the Belgian Mole programme better. Can't wait for that to start again. How did your job interview go btw?
- i completely understand your decision. unfortunately a llot of people are doing the same thing for the same reasons. the pandemic has burned out all of our health care providers . i don't know what we'll do when there's no one willing to do the job anymore. we really should revise our wage and benefit packages for front line occupations. i wish you good luck with the job search. if possible, don't jump at the first offer. unless it's exactly what you're hoping for wage and benefits wise. :) so, how did the job interview go?
- it's been a snowy and cold weekend so far. hubby goes outside and sticks his hands in the snow just to come in and stick them on my back. if i could chase himhe'd have to run for his life. rofl :D
- yeah, i know about thenefarius food additives. i'm also not a vegan/vegetarian. i'll look up the doctors you've listed as your solution to the nefarious additives looks interesting. unfortunately i can't change my diet without involving at least 3 of my doctors and my hubby. i'll let you know what happens. :)
Good that you're paying close attention to food labels! The app I used while on keto was Carb Manager, and I really liked it.
If you DO decide to change your diet, be prepared for a LOT of resistance from your doctors! A lot of them are very set in their ways, and they don't even attempt to learn anything from the new studies that are constantly coming out.
For me, this way of eating works. I've lost over 50 pounds, and my joints feel better than they've felt in years. It's not just the food though, exercise is very important. My wife and I do a 5km walk every morning, and we work out with weights at least three days a week. Yesterday I even went snowshoeing for an hour after lunch, and that was great exercise, as it works different muscles than are used in regular walking.
not liking this season for far, just get into the flow with it. Other seasons where better..
same here a lot of healthcare workers are switching. I only applied on jobs i like. And i will go on interviews but will take the job i want with good hours, benifets, etc.
Interview yesterday went well but they are not sure what they can offer me on hours. Will hear back from them. Got a rejection in the mail today, they had enough appicants and i did not make the cut.
And i got 2 phone calls today, when i got back from work. One will put me in wait as she has 3 others for an interview and if they don't make it they will ask me. If i don't hear from them within 2 weeks i can call them back. She loved my appication and answers i gave. So let's wait and see.
And the other one i have an interview for this thursday afternoon.
[edit] 7:23 pm Just had another phone call, another invite for an interview this friday morning!
Wow
wow, we haven't had any snow yet, just lots of wind and rain.
that's a lot of weight you lost! And well done on the morning walks. I wish I had the time to do that more often. I have a step counter on my watch, and some days I struggle to hit the bare minimum of 6000 steps.
wow, so many job interviews! It's good to be able to compare multiple companies and jobs so that you'll get an idea about what kind of company you want to work for, and what definitely isn't for you.
I should be applying for something as well, although now that I'm no longer stressed my job seems ok again. It keeps happening this way. For about 6 weeks I have an easy job and not too much stress, and then there are 6 weeks that are absolutely crazy because everybody starts to realise we need to make decisions for the next 12 weeks and stuff hasn't been finished yet. Right now I'm in the easy period again so it doesn't seem so urgent anymore, but I know that in a month I'll curse my job again.
- i always do my homework before i go to the doctor. as forexercise, i've got a physical therapist who comes bytwice a week.:)
- wow! it seems like you've got a lot of interest in your skills. i really hope one of them works out for you. have you notified your work that you're leaving?
Glad that you have a lot of people interested in hiring you :)
I am surprised to that many want an interview with me. Let's see and hope what will come and get the job i like. So much different then healthcare.
I havent notified my current work yet as i want to be sure i have a job before i leave.
And happy 68th birthday to my mom today.
