I've been following the news on and off as well. I really didn't think Putin would just walk all over Ukraine. I don't know how this will end.
we mostly notice a huge increase in gas prices today. I have no family in Eastern Europe, but I do have some friends from Poland. They don't seem too worried, even though Poland has a history with Russia.
I guess I was right yesterday when I said there would be some fighting. Didn't think it would happen so fast though.
He should like working from home. Last time it was 9 months in 2020 and he said enjoyed being able to be there whne our kiddo wakes up, eating with the family, and spending time with us. It was nice and this time won't be much different. We night be able to do some house upgrades too.
He did make it home safely and he will now work from home starting on Tuesday with the new job:) I'm pretty excited he will be here and so will our kiddo.
- gas is going up quickly over here. in some places it's over $4 a gallon. food prices are going up, too. you know, i thought we'd learned from the past and weren't doomed to repeat it. i'm worried that everyone (especially u.s.a. ) is underestimating putin. he's now taken a page from germany's playbook and doesn't seem to care about any of the consequences. hubby says i'm overreacting. i do have to say this has been one hell of an anxiety trigger. :( and i'm not even in europe. i really hope hubby is right. :(
lol nice you got it to!
Been watching the new since i got home and now after i woke up for work, still about the invasion. We are fine Ukraine is not that close to us, but i am worried though. Never thought Poetin would do it or so fast.
glad to hear and good luck with his new job! I got one to, start april 4th.
Brian turned on the news this morning. I was asleep so I had a very odd dream where there was a subplot about Russia invading Ukraine. So that's how I 'woke up' to the news.
I'm over in the US so I'm far away but I'm afraid another major war might break out. You can't underestimate what Putin will do.
On a VERY LIGHTER note:
I finally won the Potion Lottery.
Congrats on the potion lotter win!
That's great news about the new job :)
I'm not liking what is going on over there either. My dad was stationed in West Germany during the late 80s-91 and after the Berlin Wall opened in '89 we were able to drive into East Germany and see how different it was. The first time we went, my dad turned the wrong way and there were guards who stopped the car and asked him to get out of the car. Scary for a bit since they had guns and also asking why we were there. It was scary for me since I was kid, but we were able to get to where we were going after a bit. I'm anxious and nervous about what is going on now.
yay! congrats. still need a potion win though..
thanks!
I live in europe, the Netherlands so it's closer by then i want.. It's so horrible what is happening and the words Putin is using about nazi's is disgusting! I do hope they can stop him and save all those people.
- you'll win the potion lottery. keep entering. :D i'm not happy with the words putin is using either. he said the ukrainian government is lead by neo-nazis and drug addicts, therefore it must be replaced and he is helping them do that. he called for ukrainians to rise in revolt against their government and is using this rhetoric to hide his true intentions. why doesn't he just drop the act? we all see through it and he knows we do i don't understand his actions.
- congrats on the potion win. :D
- i bet that was scary. i have an aunt that is from weisbaden. she told me what it was like during ww2 and afterwards. the differences between what she told me and what i read in the history books was dramatic.
Thanks :)
Even though we all know what Putin's intentions are, he's a politician and so isn't speaking honestly. Hell, I don't know if he's ever spoken honestly in his life.
thanks for the ticket. Bought loads myself and did not get lucky...
And yes he is using nasty names, the people who where in WWII are not happy with his word. As is europe
Morning :) I'm about to make some coffee, the kiddo was awake around 6am and I feel I didn't get enough sleep. He apparently has haha. How is everyone?
- when i won it was on a day i had only bought 1 ticket. it'll happen. :D it seems that he (putin) is saying things simply to see who he can provoke. my youngest said that he soundslike he lives in his own reality. i agree with him and it worries me. he threatened finland and sweden with the same response he made to ukraine if they try to join nato. and all we do is stand here and watch. it's a shame.
- oh, i'm so glad my kids are way past that stage. now i get emails or facetime. enjoy those 6am wake-ups. :D it's a quiet saturday here. how about you? :)
good evening from over here
well just have to wait and see if I will ever win. That nasty man lives in his own world and thinks he can do whatever he likes without any counter actions. I hope they can stop him soon
- good evening! did you have a good day? it's beenquiet here. i started a new book. a murder mystery this time. i think i'll try fantasy again when i'm done with my current series. have you read or seen anything good lately?d:D
been a productive day here. Cleaning, tidying up, washing, writing cards and cuddles with my boys (cats). Not doing much tomorrow as I did everything today. Well post the postcards and enjoy the nice weather. Been reading Harry Potter, book 3 now.
- sounds like you got a lot done. i always found it relaxing to have a clean, fresh house. tomorrow is washing day and it's going to be interesting. i think the washing machine's spin cycle is broken but no one else does. they keep telling me it's just unbalanced. then they stop the machine, rebalance the clothes, and start it up again. what happens? it's immediately banging against the wall and floor like something's trying to get out of it. maybe tomorrow they'll finally concede that it's broken and get the maintainence man here to fix it. are you having good weather there finally? it's been rainy here but always around 60f . :D prisoner of azkahban. my favorite hp book. i love professor lupin. :)
I don't mind the early wake ups too much. I had coffee and I was able to nap also when he went down. Today has been kind of a slow day.
It sounds like your day has been a bit busy. I listened to the Harry Potter books on audio while at work.
- i'm not an early riser. i'm a night owl. whenever one of mine would wake up early i'd always bundle them into bed with me if the others were still asleep. if they were all up, no more sleep for me. lol thankfully my youngest is a late riser also so it's all good. :D now, though, he doesn't get up until 2, 3, or even 4 pm! i told him to enjoy it while it lasts because once he's in the job force he's at the whim's of his boss. he didn't believe me. he's in for a surprise :laughing
