what sort of jobs are you applying to now? My cousin did the same job as you do, and she was also sick of it. She now works for the blood lab, so still in health care. She drives around and collects blood samples and brings them to the lab. She now has regular hours, every weekend off, and if she's visited all the patients before the end of her shift she can go home early. Sounds like a great improvement to me.

well i applied at shops no healthcare stuff. Don't have a driving licence and just want out of all health care

- that's the smart thing to do. you don't want to leave thinking you have a job and then it turns out you actually don't. i'm glad there's so much interest , that means you have options and have a good chance on getting what you want. happy burthday to your mom! :D

- i keep missing your posts. in the time between me hechecking for replies and finishing my post you sneak in and post. lol wouldn't be so bad but my screen reader doesn't admit that an edit button exists so i can't go back and respond to you. i have to wait for someone else to post so it doesn't yell at me for trying to double post. silly forum. and yeah, we had snow. it's melted now. sounds like we may be getting more. it won't stick though. it never sticks. it always melts and then freezes to ice. shame you haven't gotten any. isn't there a law somewhere that says if you live above a certain longitude you're supposed to be buried in snow? ;) lol

- are you able to eat any other vegetables besides the ones you listed in your earlier post? i ask because those veg all have vit k in them and i have toavoid vit k. :)

I don't have a driver's license either... Shops are totally different, but you'll still be working with people. I bet some shops are really nice to work at. And in Zwolle there's probably a lot of choice!

I shouldn't probably be on here as much as I am, lol! There used to be a lot more snow when I was growing up, I guess it's global warming or something. I hate it when snow becomes ice. My balance is terrible, so I feel very insecure walking on icy roads. I like it when it snows, sticks for a day or two, and then magically melts away over night.

emory - working in shops is different from healthcare, true, but it caries it's own issues. such as pandemic weary grumps who thought the fabric softner was on discount and is willing to argue over it and hold up your whole line. and you can't walk away from them the way you can a patient in a bed. ;) i'm not trying to discourage you but i don't want you thinking the grass is greener, either.

lone - i live in virginia (the state directly below washington, d.c. - so you don't have to look it up ;) ). there is no such thing as snow here. i mean , we see the fluffy white stuff come down from the clouds. and we see it momentarily lay on the grass. but then it melts. and turns to ice. we have ice storms, too. haven't had a white christmas since 2012 and i lived in minnesota (closer to your longitude) then.:D

I know the grass is not greener in another job and i know what i am leaving behind if i find something. And i will see what job wants me and i like. Let's first see what happends after my 2 interviews.

It's meh. I should finish writing Kafka's Men Book 2 tomorrow and start editing this weekend OR sometime next week.

I sort of went wild with body horror O.O'

This time I wasn't :) although you never know, you could be typing a message right now. :D How are you doing? You'd expect there to be loads of snow here as we're on the same longitude as southern Canada, but our climate is pretty moderate as we're at the sea. I once spent a semester in Hungary and although it's more southern it was also a lot colder. I think it's the only time I experienced temperatures such as -15C (which is around 5F according to google).

when are your interviews? I handed in my resume at a company again and I got a message they would like to schedule an interview with me. I'm pretty excited about this one, so keeping my fingers crossed.

was a quiet day for me to yesterday. Love those days.

today at 2pm and tomorrow at 11am. I hope your interview will go well and i hope mine to.

Also had a call they said we declined your application but i am taking it back as i think you are good. They wanted more info and now they will look/talk further. I will know more next week.

I guess a very loose definition of body horror is the human body changing in impossible or taboo ways. David Cronenberg is infamous for making movies that fall into the body horror genre.

Eurm i think i have a new job... The interview went well this morning and they just called me back. They want me for 32-38 hours a week, in a hardware store and sunday i have a terms of employment conversation. Wow!

Good afternoon KSrs

Been dealing with some anxiety and we got hit in storm Landon. Did not get freezing rain thank goodness. I was most worried about losing power. We did get several inches of sleet that we shoveled last night into the dark and as it changed to snow. Today I started shoveling the snow (another 5 inches). Got maybe 1/4 down the driveway and a neighbor with a snowblower was doing all the sidewalk and did our driveway and the walk to the front door. Omg he saved us so much time (and pain)! There is still a coating of sleet/ice/snow on the drive but hopefully the next few days of sunshine will help take care of that. We have some salt/icemelt stuff if it isn't enough.

Congrats on all your interviews and on your new job if you take it! I've worked retail before and seen and been subjected to quite the bad behavior but it's usually tempered by some very nice people too.

If you ever need someone to post so you can reply or restate or add to a post you made just shoot me a comment and I'll be happy to post something. I often, lately, need a nudge to post anyway. ;)

- ah, i understand. a human transforming into a werewolf would be body horror. how is it that everyone remembers the directors on movies and tv? i have a hard time asociating the actors with the movies they're in let alone who directed it. lol :P :D

- oh, that's wonderful! that's almost full time. i don't know , do they pull the same shenanigans over there as they do here regarding "almost full-time"? now i realize you may not know what they do over here... they hire people for just under full time so they don't have to pay for health or other benefits. they get the full time coverage they need but not the expense.i don't know if they do that over there as not the same country or laws. i really hope the talks go well on sunday. :D 😂as for neighbors, we live in a quadriplex...an apartment building that holdes only 4 apartments: 2 upstairs and 2 downstairs. i live on the ground floor as stairs are very difficult for me to use. the apartment above us has been empty since august. so yesterday the landlord decided to replace the flooring in the whole apartment. we've had construction noise since 9am. i don't mind neighbor noise as my other neighbors are as quiet as we are. usually i don't even notice them, but the construction upstairs is so loud. the landlord promised it would be over in a couple of days.since it's friday i'm guessing they won't work the weekend so i'll finally have my quiet back next wednesday. i can cope until then. :D

Congrats!!! That sounds great! Now you'll just have to deal with all the snooty guys who think women don't know anything about hardware :D It's always fun to prove them wrong. I'm sure you'll be great! I bet you must be really relieved that you can give your notice at your current job soon?

We're in different timezones, so I'm sure I'm not always waiting with a post... Making a website work with a screen reader can be pretty tricky. I used to work in the software team that built a part of the website for my company. We always tried our best to make everything accessible to visually impaired people, but once someone came in to give us a demonstration on how he used websites as a blind person and it turned out that there were so many things we could improve. It's really hard to understand the mindset of people using a screen reader when you've never used it yourself. I'm excited about this job because they're looking for someone to manage a software team that works on interior design software, mainly to design custom closets and cupboards. I really like interior design, so it seems like a good crossover of something I'm good at and something I like. But you never know of course. I think the vacancy said the person they're hiring would be "the first employee", so I guess the software team is an off shore team in some low wage country, which might also be a red flag. But interviewing as the first employee, it has to be a good match personality wise. If you're just with the owners, it means you need to really be able to trust each other. But I'll be talking to some recruiter first, on Monday, so I guess we'll just see if I would be a match for them or not.

I hope your anxiety is not too bad. It's really nice of your neighbour to help you with the snow blower. I've been having some anxiety myself. I'm trying to get my driving license again (at 36), but just the taught about getting behind the wheel already stresses me out. Dutch driving exams are pretty tough. Some people have to take the exam like 4 times before they get their license. I was always so bad that I never even was allowed to do the exam. Going to try to get an automatic license now instead of a stick shift, that should hopefully take away some anxiety.

- trust me, there are very few sites that aredisability friendly. subeta is one and i think it's by accident. lol google, facebook, and twitter aren't by any stretch of the imagination. google tris but fails because of the one simple fact that you point out: no one has any experience with a screen reader. if they really wanted to help then they would have assigned at least one person to find out what a completely blind person like me has to do to access their site. it's not cost effective so they don't do it while posting that they do. who's going to call them on it? (yeah, i could but i just don't have the energy or clout to get something done.) are you working with ahead hunter? hubby worked with one in minnesota and got some crazy good jobs. only problem was they were temporary. the job sounds good but the issue you brought up with the remote labor was the first thing that popped into my head. good luck. i always loved to play with drafting software to build my dream house. i loved to build houses and decorate them in the sims 2 and 3. it'd be awesome to do it as a job. :D

Cronenberg is an easy one for me to remember as him and body horror are tied. So there's no need to remember what films he's actually made. He has a son who also has films delving into the body horror genre.

I would say transformations would count as body horror as long as said transformations are supposed to be disturbing.
