: You shouldn't have trouble adding CWs with funny characters in the description anymore.

Here's what I think happened. Time was, you couldn't have special characters in descriptions, because they'd get mangled into different special characters. Smart quotes like the apostrophe in this plushie's description:

would get garbled into other characters. Based on this post (Jessi mentioned that you can now put emojis in descriptions of CWs), it sounds like Keith has gotten around to expanding the character set you can use in descriptions. And since they gave us SO MUCH NOTICE, we were able to do the same thing on our end before ... oh, wait. :)

One temporary side-effect: Some of the items that had mangled descriptions got 'double-mangled' during the character set conversion I did tonight. I didn't fix all of them, since the cron will correct their descriptions automatically in a few days.

Also I'm super not happy about the emojis in descriptions thing. It's wholly unnecessary IMO. But apparently I am not important enough to be consulted on this issue lmao. Who'd have guessed?

Sadly I've run up against another one. I don't know what we're going to do honestly because idk an easy way to account for every emoji under the sun. Latest item is Apparently there are a few. Who knows how many items I may have missed adding because they were in the middle of the groups and I didn't catch it ((I will add here as I find additional going back to check)):

The emoji in question is a knife and it's done the same thing where it looks like it was added but it's not actually added to SL. I'm deeply deeply annoyed by this (the allowing of emojis as a description, not by our site rightly being like...wtf is this???)

Also, only tangentially related....I have no idea what this item is/is supposed to be but it doesn't exist on Subeta at all (used the item directory ID to try to find it) so idk how it ended up on SubetaLodge:

: You should be able to add these items now (but the emojis won't show up correctly -- that's something we can get later. I'll also have to fix the cron so that it won't override good emojis with bad garbled text.)

Don't know what happened with the Fallen Halo (I bet there was some drama, though!), but it's gone from SubetaLodge.

I was just updating the Shinwas Lightning and it has 5 mod slots. The mod slot drop down only goes to 4.

Thank you to whomever did the new CW additions. It's been a long week y'all and I am a tired bean who is just now getting on a computer.

At the risk of dragging in sad news....my boss has severe covid and is in ICU on dialysis out of state. I work with his adult children and it's been a really strange and sad and stressful time (I grew up with these folks as well). So I've been kind of mentally drained lately and I'm not sure when that will ease. I very much appreciate the help though ❤️

Most likely was Mayla :). I'm sorry you're going through that stress. Does he live out of state or was he transferred due to lack of beds in your area?

people are having trouble with the profile widget and since I've never used it personally, I'm not sure how to advise them, or what may be happening. I've suggested they change the address on their profile, but that doesn't seem to work.

He was actually at their vacation home in Alaska. He hadn't gone for years and it's pretty isolated but on one of the rare trips to town (he'd been there a few weeks already) he must've caught it. He went downhill quickly. Thankfully they had "neighbors" in the area who'd been checking on him and were able to take him to the clinic and then immediately to the ER. He was in a slightly smaller hospital until they found the dialysis machine (they'd been looking for several days) and transferred him down another hour to Anchorage. We're all down in SoCal - so it's a really big journey to get up to him (not that it's even possible, Alaska has been hit really hard so they're on full lockdown at the hospitals - only patients and staff inside, no visitors at all).

If they installed the widget using the address 'subetalodge.org', they'll need to uninstall and reinstall the widget using the address 'subetalodge.us'. But you're saying that's also not working?

There are a lot of other things that could be going wrong. The profile rotation widget allows people to include their own custom CSS as part of the widget, and that's something we can't control. For example, there are 302 custom profiles that still have links to tinypic images in their custom CSS, even though tinypic closed in 2019.

If you'll let me know who's having trouble, I'll try to troubleshoot for them. If it's something that's glitched site-wide, I'll do my best to fix it, of course.

: I've tried installing the widget on my profile using both Witchy's and Reekoh's code, and both are working fine for me, although there could be something subtle that I'm missing (a graphic that's a few pixels off-center isn't something I'm likely to notice!) I suppose it could be a browser-specific issue, too.

If reinstalling the widget doesn't work for them, have them get in touch with me, and I'll work with them to solve the problem.

Yes, me too. I'm fully vaxxed and eagerly awaiting when we can get boosters for the variant and doing my best to be cautious still and mask as needed. I am absolutely not interested in ever needing to be hospitalized for this (or for being the reason someone needs to be hospitalized)!

Hey guys - I have updated the latest CWs onto SubetaLodge today. Unfortunately my boss died this morning. His heart gave out due to covid complications. I'll try to keep on top of cws as much as I can but I am likely going to be at work for longer hours for a short bit and helping there more as it's a family business and his kids are pretty devastated. Just giving a heads up.
