My favorite outdoor hiking adventure was to get as far as I could toward Bad Branch Falls with several of my classmates. I didn't make it all the way (darn my bad knee and low spoons) but I got to see a lovely area of waterfall myself and relax until my group got back to where I was.
As for non-hiking, I have a huge yard and we've got plenty of barnyard animals so I love to go to the horse paddock and the chicken pen.
I've got flames on my chest. It's a lot to live up to.

I love outdoor adventures! :) But I'm not really into traveling around the world - I prefer to stay in my country and hike around instead.
In May, I did my first overnight hiking trip alone on a trail I hadn't been to before. It was really exciting to have to make all decisions on my own - whether I was on the right path, whether I should keep going or call it a night, whether I could drink from a water source or not, whether I had time and energy to take a detour, all that. It was actually snowing when I started on the journey, and the night was quite cold, so that added a bit of an extra challenge for me as I'm used to sleeping outdoors in the summer, but not in the winter. :)
Being in a warm pool overlooking a lovely shore sounds heavenly. I lived in San Diego for a few years, but it always felt... lacking in greenery, lol. Oregon doesn't have that issue, at least in my head! I'll have to remember those cities - thank you!
Lovely photos!! I drive through Davis all the time! I don't live that far from there, but I also haven't really explored around there other than driving to Lake Tahoe or some places around Muir Woods in the other direction. c:
I was fortunate enough to grow up in a home built in the middle of a row of forested hills. I have many memories of exploring those woods, following the old deer trails, finding trees growing in weird shapes, discovering all kinds of animals (including a nest of ring-necked snake eggs just as they were starting to hatch), sitting and relaxing in a sunlit clearing on one hillside, and looking down from the very top of the tallest hill to see the layout of our little patch of backwoods from an angle I'd never known before. Good times.
I love practicing with my bokken outside in my backyard with my brothers.
A few years ago, my mom and I went to Vancouver and got to go around and see a lot of filming locations for a couple tv shows. It was really fun hiking down trails to find where certain scenes were filmed.

I remember camping with my family as a kid with my dog at the time and she ran into the bush and accidentally got a bunch of ticks i was so scared at the time! :P
Favorite outdoors activity hands down would have to be going out and quad ride in the desert

Im not a very outdoors person because Im scared of bugs lol. But I must say i really did enjoy going to chicago and walking thru their Botanic Garden and looking at all the awesome sculptures there.
Not really into hiking and all that, but my plan for next year is to take my holiday and head off to New Zealand and visit hot springs and awesome beaches and just relax

I went sledding with my grandma once, when I was a kid, and she allowed me to take my doll with me, which felt spectacular :)

When I was a kid we'd go hiking Turkey Run State Park in Indiana quite a bit. It was always fun.
We live right near a little park - it's not very big, but it has this nice trail which goes through some woods and then wraps around a smallish lake. I like taking our dogs there any time of the year, although winter is sometimes better because not too many people go out. :)

and It is strangely assuring to know that I am not the only crappy Northern Californian! Like I am from San Diego originally and am so used to spending time outdoors and adventuring, I just don't do it so much since I relocated.
I did go out to Hidden Falls Regional Park in Auburn a couple of weekends ago and my GOD is it gorgeous!

Do we need to create a Subetans Explore NorCal club? :P
I absolutely love birds and bird watching, I feed the crows at my work all the time. But its so cold out now I dont go outside much and there arent many birds about. I really need to get a new suet feeder.
One of my favorite places was the Stone Forest in China. I went during a three week stay ten years ago for educational purposes. It was an absolutely beautiful day, and strangely we found a rock that resembled a chicken leg

When I was a kid (11-13) my family lived in Germany. Some of my very favorite outdoor memories are all tangled up in that time. We used to go volksmarching, an amble based marathon, usually hikes about 10-15 kilometers at a time. it was our usual weekend event and we got to see so much of the beautiful countryside that way. I recall vividly a volksmarch that took place at night, we were equipped with individual torches and the route took us past a slow moving river, so we could see the reflections of the light and our shadows rippling along in the water. Another time we were hiking in the snow, came out around the lower side of a pristine snow covered hill and a herd of deer leapt out of the forest, thundered over the top of the hillside and raced past us, with the snow swirling up around them, absolutely magical. My favorite though was when we went camping in an old, tumbled town castle ruin at the top of a mountain. We'd set up our tents in the clearing that was once the castle courtyard, explore along the remains of the walls that were still standing and sometimes hike down to the nearby village for ice cream and lemonades.
My best outdoor adventure was doing some ~700 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail. I didn't get to the sierras though; I'd really like to go back and do the John Muir Trail. But really I'll do most anything outdoors -backpacking, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, snowboarding, skiing, etc. This year I am trying to get more winter hiking under my belt :).
