Hey hi welcome! So in the lovely battle guide (see: The Official Battle Guide v3.3 ), I mention the importance of your pet's intelligence and raising it up for battling purposes. And it is VERY important. But even if you're not a battler and just want your pet to be smartest, most well-read around, then this will help you too!

But how should you get started? Where do you look for books? How many books are in Book Nook anyways? How many Steamwork Trinkets do you need to get one of every book out of the menagerie? WELL, the grand news is I have taken the time to calculate almost all of the books on Subeta! I'm often a bored and curious muffin with too much time on her hands, so I'm happy to share my work with the rest of you, in hopes that it helps you too with book grinding for your pet(s)!

Keep in mind, there are many, many, MANY retired books, particularly for holidays like Morostide, for which there is no shop or special currency to collect to buy the books you're missing. Consider your budget, and go for the most books for as cheap as possible!

do note, I suck at math and while I'm 99% confident my numbers are crunched correctly, there is a chance I'm wrong or forgot something. Be sure to ping me if you see a major error! updates will be done periodically, so keep this in mind! I will try my best to stay on top of updating as new books are made, but there's always a chance I'll forget to do so since this is a new thing for me to remember now. Don't worry, I'll try to update by at least the turn of each new season! So for example, expect an update by the first day of spring 2024.

PLOT SHOPS Missed a plot or two? Forgot about some plot currencies you might have? Don't worry! You might still be able to get some books!

CASH SHOP When it begins to cost you real money, weep. I just kept this section clear cut dry.

HOLIDAY PARTICIPATION These are books you can obtain from participating during a holiday in which there is no shop to buy them directly from; there is no special "currency". These require different interaction and participation to obtain. Because of this, most of these books are retired and not easy to obtain!

BATTLING (rarity 170) I am so sorry, non-battlers who are grinding intel for non-battle reasons. Dx Some books belong to seasonal challengers, so do your research first! There are a total of 135 books that can be obtained as battle loot.

GAME PRIZE (rarity 160) These are books that were awarded as trivia prizes when Trivia existed, some are tied to earning achievements, etc. A good majority of these books do restock in the Crystal Shop it seems as well. Plot shop books are mixed in here as well. This is a huge category, so take your time to look for cheap books or how to obtain them. There are a total of 618 books of the rarity 160 type.

I'm reading from my phone at lunch from work so I may have missed it. Did you note that SubetaLodge has an option where you can upload the books a/each pet has read and then work from that list? It's really helpful to sort by category or price low to high. You can also click off each book you read on the pets' list so it stays up to date as you read more to your pet. forgot to ping the first time.

Medicontra: There are a total of 6 books in Medicontra! It will require exactly 164,000 sPs to obtain every single book. GoOutside: There are a total of 9 books in GoOutside! It will require exactly 350,000 sPs to obtain every single book. I don't think these are related to NEUGARTEN. They are the only ones listed in that category that are open all year long so maybe go elsewhere. Unless they share a specific Neugatten number.

THE DELPHI MUSEUM OF MODERN ART There are a total of 3 books in The Delphi Museum of Modern Art gift shop! Should probably be elsewhere since it's doesn't restock like the ones it's listed with.

Zombie Den: There are a total of 102 books in Zombie Den! It will cost you exactly 3,610,800 sPs to buy every single book. Also a weird one since it is directly linked to Survival but year round and sp based.

These shop are the outliers so maybe they should be in their own category of some kind. I feel like they get missed a lot by people who end up buying from user shops instead of the cheaper shop price.

those three I can move, but Zombie Den updates around Survival like L'Amour's does. so despite using sPs as its currency, it's still a holiday shop, and it's year round like the Menagerie and Esthers.
