Please Official Subeta Artists, make it look slightly fox-y like the original was. (That was the whole reason I made a Montre when I first joined.) The new version looks too much like bull terrier in the nose department.
As the owner of 2 Montres and how I love the species, I feel I must comment on this.
Like people have already said, the head part is a bit iffy.I feel the eyes are too small, and the snout is too straight. The previous Montre looked like a cat, and the new one doesn't. And the head looks a bit wider than the previous one.

All of the rest is lovely though! Love the wings!
There are some real problems with the anatomy of this. The line of the legs nearly touches the spine, the stomach looks like a peanut(!!!) and the face is very flat. All in all the pose is really static. It needs some work.
I have the feeling the head is just a little bit too big, that and the muzzle indeed is too straight. Makes it look a bit like it has a crooked nose. But for the rest it's really nice!
I don't really like it, it looks really stiff? and doesn't have that feel of "elusive, mysterious" that the current one has. And the anatomy of the face looks really, really off. The only thing I like is the wings, really gorgeous and a big improvement in that area. But overall, I'd rather keep the old one.
I like it, but there is something about the head/face that I just can't put my finger on...
The ears look kind of cone-shaped to me. They're more like the dragarth's horns than actual ears.
And now that I've seen this, I can't unsee it.

I'm excited to see a Montre revamp. However, the proposed revamp looks sort of... shrunken? I echo previous thoughts that there is something off about the muzzle, also the front legs look a little stubby.

I love the revamp the only issue for me is that the feathers on the new one don't exactly read as feathers. They almost look like one of those lucky rabbit foot things.
As an owner of several montres & someone who loves the species, I voted old.
I much prefer the shape & the sharpness of the old one. The new one's face/head is bugging me beyond belief; the nose is too rounded & downwards (it needs to be shifted up/pointed a bit), and the ears look puffed/swelled up (as do the feet/toes, actually). It doesn't look as fed up with everything & everyone like the old one did, which means that it has lost its basic personality. It also looks rather squished together & stiff overall. (I'm not really going to comment on the shading, since it's the same shallow style as the rest of the new montres, which I just happen to really dislike.)
So,
To end on a positive note, I quite enjoy the wings.
Thank you for giving the species some love. Here's hoping it turns out well in the end.
Edit:// After skimming through some posts I see that basically covered it pretty well.
really digging odduck's leg/paw re-interpretation, as well as face edit suggestion.
The only thing I have to add on about face/legs (which has been mentioned as spots that people would like to see improvements on) is that the shading and under-anatomy work for the back leg and the tail seem tubular rather than organic. Other than that, keep up the hard work! The line and shading style looks great, in tune with the rest of the updated style for the site.

While the shading and artwork itself is obviously much improved, the snout and front right leg just seem wrong. I feel like a sitting dog would have their feet facing outwards and not in the same direction like the new Montre. It just feels too forced. The snout just looks like it needs to protrude more.
The wings and shading are amazing though. <3
[font=verdana]art shopI like the pose of the revamp version a lot! I like that you can see the full tail fluff now, and part of the other wing, and I prefer the sitting up straight, proud pose to the slouchy old pose.
However, I feel like there is a lack of detail when compar s to some of the other recently revamped pets, especially in the head. The face and nose look oddly smooth to me. For comparison, the kumos, sheeta, neela, and ontra are all shaded in a way that implies a fur/fluff texture. And I also think these other pets I've listed have a lot more interesting shadow shapes. for instance, the roundish shadows on the ontra paws and below the knee joint. Whereas the Montre revamp shading seems kind of... generic? other than the head, one place I feel could have a nice shadow would be the shoulder joint, as the shoulder/fur would cast a shadow on the rest of that limb.
It's also strange to me that the ears are not fluffy...they seem almost batlike because of the smooth outline.
But I'm excited for this revamp and can't wait to see any revisions the artist comes up with! c:
I like the revamp outside of the way the snout looks, possibly due from the angle of the montre's face. It seems like it doesn't have the correct slope to it. It reminds me too much of the way an anteater's face sort of slopes down that way versus the face of a fox/coyote. Other from that, I love it, and I can't wait to see the Hydrus revamp!

His face looks a little too empty - maybe a curve of the snout, like sugested by so many before me, would help, and maybe larger eyes? Or just shift the angle of his face to make him look more directly at the viewer (except not, as his eyes are shifted to the side) - that might help resore the shiftyness of the old ones expression.
Personally I'd also make the cheek fluff a bit more pointy, as that is what I felt set the Montre a bit apart from the Kumos and Telenine, even though they are all canines.
Otherwise though, I really love the new Montre. The pose is close enough to the old one, the anatomy and shading feel right, and I just LOVE the new wings. He's beautiful!

Otherwise looks good but there is something wrong with the head. It needs some more detail or shape because now it looks a bit static.
Happy to see the Montre getting refreshed. I mostly love it but there are a few things that could be improved. I tried moving things around to see what looked right to me and found that I liked these changes:
Ears less rounded and evened out a bit Far eye enlarged and moved up Eyebrows more similar to original, more angled, which is one of my favorite things about the Montre Muzzle shortened and nose raised Near foreleg lengthened Near back leg turned out a bit
I did a crappy job in mspaint trying to show what I mean. I am no anatomy expert and don't claim to be. I just know what I would like to see. I may be blind to any errors I made, myself. There were some things other people edited in or lined that were great ideas, that I didn't include just because I was too lazy or didn't know how to do it in mspaint without chopping the poor thing up (more than I already did :D).

I really love the new wings and the tail and the pose looks right to me, but face/snout not so much...for some reason the shape reminds me a bit of a bull terrier with the downward curve, I like the old "pointy nose" better. And the ears now seem a bit large and stand too close together, the old version looks better, like you could rub the head between the ears. ;-)
The one and only thing that I feel needs to be changed is the muzzle; it is much too long and flat, giving the Montre the appearance of just having faceplanted into a brick wall at high speed. Just make the muzzle shorter and a little rounder (maybe angled up a bit?) to resemble the previous muzzle better and it will be perfect.
Everything else is absolutely stunning! I adore the revamped wings and how soft they look! The overall anatomy of the body is spot on too.
