Because you shouldn't be able to complete every tier of the battle quests if you don't have a strong enough pet.
Anyway - like I said we're totally down to change around some of the prizes, I got my prize list entirely from and which they made seriously a year ago, so it's probably going to take some tweaking. We appreciate the feedback :)!

Why have less exp going out if we have a cap anyways? Does it matter how fast people get to the top?
I get that, but still feels like it's going in reverse to me.
I like the idea, just think the end product is a little wonky.
At first I thought I liked the new BQs but now I'm not really feelin it. I don't like the idea that if you can't beat an opponent then you're shit out of luck. Can't it be like, each 5 battles you win? Rather than you have to beat all 5 in a row?
Kinda wish we can click on the opponent to start the battle. I keep wanting to click them. LOL. I'll give it a try for the next few days.

Is fighting old challengers - just fighting them, not winning their prizes - really such a cool thing to do? Like, were people clamoring for that? For me, personally, the appeal to fighting old challengers lies in the reward. The physical reward. The prize. I mean, I know I am a greedy little shit, so I try not to complain tooooo much, especially if it's something other people do want ...
But I am genuinely curious. I'm only a casual battler, are there hardcore battlers out there who just really wanted to fight old opponents merely for the sake of fighting them?
bird and bear and hare and fish give my love her fondest wish
They never could? But at least they could keep going and hope later they'd get someone they could beat. This just discourages participation at every level. Those of us with large pets don't care to sludge through beating Eclipse 5x in a row, and those with small pets get roadblocked before they even really get started.
And whoo~ a single skip button. So worth spending 25 mil/5 bucks a month.
Because once people get there they feel stuck. We want it to feel like you're working up with your pet, not just blasting through, because every time you do a BQ you can feel how much further you're getting granted you'll be in a tier of it for awhile before moving up.

But now you're just handicapping people who are starting now, and people who are at the top are still at the top. So it doesn't fix anything?
I also dont' think that this is handicapping people who are just starting, you're getting 1,500exp for the first five battles which I think is more than they got before? I could totally be wrong, though.

As someone with a tier 12 pet, having to fight my way from the bottom takes the fun out of battle quests for me. I liked the random challengers.
Which was pretty much the only thing I still did on this site, so...
Agreed. I hate that the first 10-15 quests are such a joke.
Also, i dont really see what the new BQs bring thats really different. They want to lower EXP payout. fine. couldnt they do that in the older version?
also, with lower exp payouts, why 30 quests
The current exp payouts were set up so that a pet, at any given tier, would be able to purchase 10hp if they could beat their tier's boss (with the exception of quest 30, that is bonus exp).
I'm sorry, but you guys aren't going to be getting the exp payouts of the old BQs. The 40-50k exp you could get daily was just way too high.
We'll definitely look into changing the amounts though. They were purposefully set low because pet growth was completely out of hand due to BQs.
Yeah, but for people who have middle sized pets and can kill a few of the EH challengers but not all, or a few of the impossibles but not all, it prevents them from getting any exp at all. Like Malerias Familiar can be taken down with a tier 10 pet, but since its in the 25-30 category, unless you get it all 5 times in a row you won't be able to get to 30 wins. I mean, obviously thats why this system is in place, but I feel like you should be rewarded if you can kill something at least. This will make people stop bothering to try to beat new opponents once they reach the point where they can, imo. For example, when my pet was almost tier 12, high tier 11, I started playing against prodigy and grinding out the losses to get the few wins for the bq reward. But take for instance, someone who can just about beat Maleria's Familiar, like Is she going to bother to beat her anymore when there is about no guarantee she can get anything for spending 20-30 minutes on a single battle?
For people just starting out it's about the same, but then it becomes more of a grind and it seems like a pointless grind if theres already an endpoint.
But the whole point of the cap was to stop "out of control" pet growth. How is it still a problem with the cap in place? Thats my question - its been this way for years, so why are we just now changing it?
posting here what i said on the news:
ok having finished my 30, i just want to reiterate: exp on the fifth round exclusively is a bad model. i mean, the increments we're awarded are divisible by five anyway, why not just award the 300 exp or whatever after every opponent?
it doesn't seem like much of an issue in the lower tiers, where the difficulty curve isn't that noticable. but when you get up into the extremely hard and impossible opponents? there can be a very, very big difference between being able to beat one EH and being able to beat the next EH. getting 3 quests in to the EH round then getting your ass handed to you (and thus being robbed of any potential exp for the quests YOU HAVE ALREADY FINISHED) is kind of a big "fuck you" to battlers in a transition zone. PLEASE reconsider this model.
I'm still sad because I thought the BQ quest revamp was supposed to make BQing faster. Dx
I sort of thought they would just scale to your battle pet and you'd get like 5-10 or whatever and that'd be it.
Now I have to do them all just to get the 'good' exp. Assuming I don't get beyond 25 and have Prod screw me out of an entire tier of exp (which is pretty crappy if you've already done the other 4)...
This makes doing the quests so much longer for me. I used to just skip the easy guys and go with the hard or higher. Now I have to do all the quests. 20k payout is less than I usually got for doing less quests than before. I did seem to get more tokens than before so so that is nice.
I don't like the prizes being given out every 5th win. I can't beat all the challengers that might show up for the last few tiers and I'd be pissed if I miss out on that final payout just because of that.

But its still in place. So how is growing a pet quickly a problem? And since when is 40-50k exp a day average? Since MrCool is better at Math at me
