This really bothers me because of how many times I've heard Subeta leadership say Subeta will never be like -those other sites- 😔 There's just got to be better / creative solutions..
I thought the whole purpose of a wishlist was to put items on there you would like to get somewhere in the future. So.....now there's going to be a limit on our dreams! That's just crazy 😟
Also....how do we remove admins from our ping groups. I can press that button as much as I like, but it doesn't do anything.
Right now I have a ping group where I myself for some reason aren't an admin and someone else is an admin and I can't remove that person. I mean.....😮
Instead of putting up new ideas, limitations or whatever things you want to do in the future, work on the things that you have now that aren't working properly so we can continue to enjoy the site.
And also...instead of just making changes to the site, it might be nice to ask the users what they think about the ideas first. I mean for all you know they might have a brilliant idea that will help you improve the site! Or at least if that's not an option a heads up would be nice 😒
Can I just ask for clarification...you plan on limiting the number of CATEGORIES on wishlists or the number of ITEMS we can put on our wishlists?
I am in total agreement!! I have watched things break and all sorts of new things coming out and site changes while the things that are broken and that the users(why your site thrives) complain about are ignored compeletly! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING BETA??? Did you all drink some bad water and go brain dead? You are driving away the very people that make your site thrive!!
Guess we will all have to find a different place to hang and do what we love when beta becomes neopets, How sad!!! :(
I will miss you beta cause you are on the wrong damn path with the limits and shit. Kiss your users and your cash good-bye if you keep on going like you are.
it's too difficult to get the forms to functionally work on mobile so excuse me for not reading the entire thread. Quite frankly the limit on fourm groups is stupid. There's no nice way to say it. And forum groups replacing cults is even stupider. if your goal is to get everyone to quit the site good job you're doing a fine job of it. I swear that staff meetings must consist of how can we frustrate majority of our players this week, while still convincing them to spend money? This is exactly why I drop in maybe for five minutes a week, and spend all my gaming money on Clash of Clans. It works when I want it to and they don't do stupid things like this.
So i guess you are gonna be killing a shit load of achievements as well with all your new dumb ass limitations?
I'm disappointed in you, Keith. Been here 7 years and I'm just seriously so mad I can't even. I don't want to give up on Subeta I keep hoping you will get your ass in gear and your head out of your ass, but you just keep ram jamming it further up there!
I'm glad there are people that can type more eloquently than I and have and have already said what I'm thinking because I'm too fucking pissed off at you to even think straight.
I am seriously only still here because I haven't found a replacement site yet.
I haven't been on the site as long as a lot of others have been. But I was around when the site was lagging daily and when there were barely ever 1k+ people on at a time. My first experience with the site, the very first day I joined, was it going down for maintenance for like an hour+ at like 6AM. But I stuck with it through that, not caring much about that and occasionally defending it.
Buuut, Idk. I just haven't felt like standing by the site anymore, not since these revamps started happening. It feels like all the ones that've been pushed live so far (forums, forums, FORUMS) should've stayed in beta a lot longer than they did, and everything lately feels like it could've (and should've) been handled a lot better than it has been, from the revamps to events to communication between staff and users. Everything's ugly now, and everything's broken every week. And I won't be surprised if one day the site disappears with no notice - which is actually what I see happening more than it actually changing.
To be honest I would've rather the site gone down for x amount of time so that all revamps could be done at once, and hopefully more professionally and successfully, than the way they've actually happened, which is one at a time, and half-assed.
But I guess that - revamps, and the state of the site - is another topic for another time. On the topic of forum groups, and this being the new cults??... I just don't understand, even after all the explanation. I guess I feel kind of lucky forum groups were never something I depended much on, and it's got to really suck for those who use them so frequently. :c
But, at the same time, I'm not all that surprised, because I've started to expect the worst of Subeta.
And, on the subject of limiting things, I feel really bad for those who were growing massive shops/galleries for the achievements they were given the opportunity to aim toward.
I don't mind limits on new features, since I am comfortable with the way and features right now and used to it.
If already existing 'features', such as groups and wishlists get limits, I'll be lost. You want me to move my items more around in my shops? That's more time I need to spend on here and in the long run it's probably more bothersome than worth it.
Not being able to ping my interested commissioners anymore, since they all were forced to leave to my ping group due recent events or more active groups? That would be quite bothersome..
In all honesty, I am not even sure what to say.
If that what Keith mentioned here:
I'd be afraid to see getting limited in everything I like to do and then not getting alternative options for a long time (considering Subeta standards, pretty long)..
I could kiss you.
So yeah, I've stayed out of this because I know my temper will get the better of me. But I really don't f***ing get it.
I can't even start because there's so much. I'm nearing my fifth year on the site. I have spent well over a thousand dollars on this site. Most of which was from my disability. I don't really go out. I can't really go out. The computer is my life for all intents and purposes. I literately have panic attacks when the internet cuts out for long periods of time. Blah blah yadda yadda I'm overreacting. Mhm. Sure. Yes I have gotten VERY attached to pixels. Subeta is my favorite website. It holds SO many memories for me. It helped me to build two of the most important friendships I have ever been blessed with having.
The site was GREAT when I first joined. Over the last few years it has gone downhill and all the new changes and planned changes are horrid. For one thing, there's nothing wrong with the current groups. Oh, wait. Yes there is. Because of the fantastical new forums! The old forums were more aesthetically pleasing. I can't recall encountering errors that lasted longer than a very short while.
I can actually understand new features having limits. I cannot fathom limiting site features that have been a part of the site at least the five years I've been here and don't get me started on all the Gold Account features that used to be readily available to the common user.
With every new brilliant change added to the site it is driving me closer to throwing in the towel. Except how can I, when I have literately devoted SO much time and money into it? Everything is becoming about flash images and money. Hmm... the exact reasons I abandoned neopets and gaia.
Except I can't abandon subeta so I guess I'm just screwed eh.
I agree wholheartedly that, at times, we need limits on things because otherwise that shit gets out of hand. Other users have expressed this-- and more, and better than I could-- in this thread.
Things like shops, wishlists, and forum groups though? Seriously? Stop giving out quest items in such abundance, then, if shops are too big. From doing about half the available quests per day I easily fill my shop up to ~500 things, if not more. So imagine people that restock, have galleries, hoards-- come on. There are so many useless (furniture, sundries, minions) items that just clutter up the site, and are MADE to clutter the site. So we're being punished for what their intended use was? Cool. Ok. As for the forums, please stop fucking with something you do not use and clearly do not understand how they are being used. Was it not your intent to have them used this way? Shoulda nipped that in the bud, too late, move on. Please try again. The revamp to them was bad enough, now it's just getting worse. There are a GREAT number of ways to operate around using the forums-- a lot of cults already do-- and if this continues I'm going to just handle custom wearables the same way tbh. It's becoming way less of a hassle to do it all off-site because of how hard it's become to do just about anything on site.
lordy. usually i'm chill as heck on things but come on already holy balls.
This is the worst fucking change. How absurd is this? I'm in so many more groups than that - you're killing interest in groups with a limit like this and I forsee this being a massive issue for CW shops. Which will in turn lead to a dip in your revenue since things won't fill and sell.
[Edit] I just tallied in my head and with my 5 forum groups, the main 2 cw groups, the 2 ping groups for an annual roleplay, and site update I'm already at 10/15 allowed groups.
If I want to get updates from battle, token restock, retiring items reminders, news, and subeautique restocks I'm maxed out. That disregards me being able to join cwcomms, and any shops at all for others' cw releases, along with any special event groups, any chat groups, etc.
This is absolutely harmful to socializing on here (what a lot of us are here for) and hugely detrimental to CW shops - which will in turn damage your profit line.
- start with the first post and read on...
This really sucks! I absolutely hate the idea of such a low limit on forum groups!! Why change it? I can see putting a limit on how many groups you create but why on how many you join? Isn't that the purpose of having groups? You are really going to hurt CW sellers/buyers with this limit. Arrrggh!! :(

I don't get why they would join the cult and groups? They are different x.x Im not sure about this and 15 for groups and cults is way too low... Im sorry guys this is absurd...
This is complete and utter bullshit. I'm in over 50 groups, all of them I deem important enough not to leave lest I miss something good. I already miss out on stuff because the damn pings work for me about 75% of the time and now I have to pick and choose the groups I want to be in? That's just crap. Now my inbox is flooded with mail from users who want to join my group but cannot and are asking to be individually pinged for specific things I release. I don't fault them, I fault this system that's obviously very flawed but most likely to be pushed through despite the majority of the users saying no. I come on here to get away from the politics of "my way or the highway" that's so common in Hawaii but now I'm finding that maybe I can't get away from this "minority over majority" theme.
This sucks. So many people are in many more groups then 15... It's part of the way we connect with people on this site.
Thanks for pinging jf because I had completely ignored this thread up til now.
I'm sure anything I can say has already been brought up, as I can't be assed to read the entire thread on a kindle but in short this is complete bullshit. I guarantee I'm in more than 15 groups already, why the hell does this need to be limited and why is it so low?
[edit] So I just saw that the GA limit is 100 and the non-GA is only 10? That is fucking ridiculous. I'm a fairly regular GA user but not always constant. I'm in 66 forum groups. So which 57 am I supposed to leave if we get a group made for an upcoming event?
And if an overall limit is put on WLs as opposed to a per category limit, I'm done. There's no way I can function with that, even without my minion gallery and collection lists one I get those filled out. There's got to be a more user-friendly way to reduce server strain.
So from what I gather... you get 10 groups with a normal account, 100 with a gold account?
That's rich. It's almost like bullying people into buying GAs. "Oh, you want to use this basic site feature that's integral to enjoying the site? Better give us your money, or you won't have room for those token shop or site update pings!!"
Just another reason for me to refuse to buy a GA or CSC period. :) (Look, I can do the passive aggressive smiley too!)
Posting again to say I think limits could be introduced in a less detrimental way (in wishlists, for example, there could be a limit per category instead of a global one). If anything is done for forum groups, though, I would rather NOT have it attached to whatever the "average user" does because the average user has 10 million sP, plays the site for 15 minutes a day and does not use the forums. Please consider "average forum user" if there is the possibility to identify such behavior.
(psst , all forums created within a "new" forum group are supposed to be private / visible to members of that group only! However, the feature hasn't been in beta for long enough, so it's still broken. There's no thread index, which means you'll have trouble finding open topics, aand I'm fairly sure there's a limit of 5? max topics you can have open at a time. Not so great for cults if you ask me...)
