//nods// I do appreciate the limit being upped, but I don't think 50 is enough either. I love buying art and looking at the cw's (even though I rarely have csc to buy them) and the key to getting slots is basically to follow the pings we get from the groups. If we only have 15 or now 50 groups to follow ... that is really limiting. I was wondering what the average amount of groups is that users follow?

Also: I am really wondering whether the amount of groups one can join is really dependent on whether or not a gold account is active?

Yes you explain a lot of things in a lot of places. But you have yet to actually act on a lot of those threats to limit things. So it seems a bit dumb that you are doing it with these.

Why not just do the cult revamp like you originally wanted to do/told us about instead of fucking around with group pings which were a completely seperate thing? Why did you have to merge two things that were nothing alike other than they were groups of people with a common interest?

I hardly think that this change is going to magically make the offsite cults come back on subeta to be more active here. Hell, my cult has lost dozens of people over the years because they weren't active on subeta even if they WERE active on the cult. Because the cult was offsite.

My guess is he can't fix the cult coding so as usual, he is going to take the easy way out rather than do what would be best for the players. xD

I'm a bit confused by this statement. Are you saying that there will be a way for us to be pinged for groups without being in them but just showing an interest in it (like announcement/tsrestock)? Because if that would be the case, then the limit would be okay, but if we have to be part of the group to get the pings, then that's just not really fair because some of us like getting pinged for a lot of things.

ok I counted how many ping groups I am in...212 and I bet you 95% of those are all CW groups. So now you are wanting me to limit the amount of cash I spend on this site. I thought the site was all about making money so it can run smoothly?

Curious as to how pinging friends is supposed to help this situation? I mean I'm not friends with even 1/10 of the people in my cw ping group, so is it subeta's policy that we now have to be friends with EVERYONE on site to get pings??

one suggestion i might add (warning i might make? idk) is to assign people to this task or really take your time and research the "existing on only one thread" aspect of each individual group. for example, i use my personal group on my CW thread more than any other thread, but i also use it on at least 3 other threads and would be disappointed if i could no longer do that. i would also suggest implementing something separate from the subscribe function - i know if i was subbed to someone else's CW thread i'd get sick of a ping popping up when someone claimed a slot on anything! (i know it seems like i'm only cw-minded because this example also has to do with CWs, but it's what i know most, bwahahahah)

and on the note of the "friend of Adventurer" ping groups… some users just like having little clubs. is that so bad? like, i understand that the servers might not necessarily be able to handle all of that, but i think the users that belong to or own those types of groups don't really use them for pinging. i think they use them to feel closer to their friends. in fact, the sharing item functionality and other things that you said have to do with cults, to me, seem like things that would most benefit those types of groups! in my opinion (i know nothing of coding or server limitations but a fair amount about pleasing people and organizing things on a large scale) it would serve the userbase better to transform how forum commerce is done - make a separate system for ping groups that have to do with buying and selling anything, for example.

in closing, i know you say limits have to start somewhere, but i also know the userbase is already so frustrated that pings aren't working properly still, so maybe the choice to start somewhere else would invoke less anger among users. before overhauling groups, make sure groups can even be used and pinged - 100% of the time. anyway, thanks for listening to us and taking the time to appear in the thread. i know it means a lot to people.

Yes this right here!! Make the ping groups work first, then maybe try something else....but really you are putting a huge limit on cw buyers and cw shops. I truly believe you will see a decline in profits.

You know, if our Beta Wardrobe had all of the "exact same functionality that people use" that the original one did, maybe I'd have more confidence that the same would happen here.

That's what beta means, that it's a work in progress. We actually had to push it way earlier than we anticipated because of the "real" wardrobe not working in newer versions of firefox and chrome. It isn't ready for prime time yet except for people who actually can't use the existing wardrobe at all. :)

I'm really confused by Keith's comment about the groups that "only exist on one thread." I'm not about to become friends with these people just to receive pings.
