, if it's all feasible I will GLADLY clear out my duplicates. I'd love to either sell or frag them. I just got a little ticked at some posters who weren't even willing to consider compromise.

Say hello to the stat cap c:
The apparent needs of the many, outweighed the active users with strong pets. We were told to basically deal with it and train more pets or find something else to do, or we could just deal with it because staff love the cap where it is now and it's pretty much not going anywhere ever.
So to sum it up, that's how subeta usually deals with problems it's created.
At least this might get a compromise, an across the board account hoarding sounds a lot less account/site-damaging and 40k is something I could probably achieve that way xD
You have my sympathy. I have several friends that slaved away trying to get their pets up into the top, only to have the door slammed in their face.

I'm also pissed off with the hoarding thing. These days I saw a person with 10+ of each rare bobblehead... This way, it's really hard to complete collections and buying clothes...
Can I ask what the difference is between a huge shop and a huge wishlist?
I mean, I'm actually really curious, because to me (A squid who knows nothing about coding) they seem to be pretty similar - a huge page with a bunch of items on it.
I know that hoards need to go because of some coding issue, but then how to wishlists differ? Honestly, mine don't even load most of the time, I just keep them updated for the little blue boxes elsewhere on the site to help me with things.

Welp, I sucked it up and read through this thread and holy shit some of you guys are ... intense. I am hoarding purely for the achievement. When I complete it or when it retires, whichever happens first, things will get sorted. Clothes will go to the wardrobe, food will go to the vault (One of each that Cibophobia needs), restockable items will be fragged, plushies, beanbags and cards will be added to their collections, books will be read to Pacifist and the rest will go back in to my shop to be priced and sold.
I understand that it's a big deal but ... come on now, it's not that big of a deal. Have you pro-hoard folks NEVER made a bad decision in your entire life? Have you NEVER done something and thought "Wow this was so stupid I regret this so much"? And okay, let's say you haven't. Let's say you have lead amazing lives with literally no remorse about anything ever. That is so amazing for you, but can you not imagine what it's like to have done that? That's what this achievement was. It was an idea that turned out to be not so good. And unlike most ideas in real life, this one can be fixed (sort of)

I think a lot of the animosity came from the way the OP was acting towards people working on the achievement.
Now that Keith has clarified and explained that he is willing to see if alternatives such as counting collections and wardrobes would be possible, those people have simmered down.
I started my hoard not too long ago really to just try and have one of every restockable I could for when genetech items were created. I also have tossed event items I had in there as well. I do now kinda want the achievement as I start to actively collect more.
Would be great if when you do account worth it could calculate number of items on your account, individual and stacked, for the hoarding achievements. It's already looking at all your items anyway.
“Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.” - Benjamin Franklin
"Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees, to deprive the poor of their rights and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people, making widows their prey and robbing the orphan." - Isaiah 10:1-2
When I reached the 15k wardrobe achievement, I decided to dump my entire wardrobe out into a gallery for the first few hoarder tiers. Then I added all 9f my minions and shinies from my other gallery to get me up to the 30k tier. I considered emptying my vault into the gallery and everything from my two actual shops...which would have gotten me pretty close to the 40k. But it was so time sucking going to the drop down next to each item and selecting "1" that I decided to just be satisfied with the 30k tier. But it still bugs me knowing that I most likely have 40k unique items on my account if you took all my shops/galleries +wardrobe+vault and it is just the fact that it is waaaay too time consuming to consolidate all of those items into one place keeping me from hitting that top tier. I would absolutely love it if these achievements counted shops+galleries+wardrobe+vault+collections. It would allow for the achievements to remain viable while lessening server strain and I know I would be much more likely to sell a lot of what I have been holding onto "just in case" I decide to make a last minute dash for the top tiers.
Further discussion from staff about how "unlimited" things like hoarder galleries damage the site for everyone - Everything is broken, lets revamp something else!

I know everything is chaotic with achievements and site updates and everything else, but I'm wondering if you've looked into the hoarding achievement expanding across the entire account and if it's possible.
Perhaps it could be similar to the autopricer (albeit not a GA perk). If you want to check it, you can run a check once per day. That way people working on achievements can check their current value once a day but if you don't care then you aren't straining any database counting things.
As someone who has been working on the hoarder achievements slowly for literally years, I would really, really hate to see these retired without seriously looking at some way to look at all the items on an account. I would love to sell off all that junk in my gallery (or read it, or eat it, etc.), but I will keep plugging away at this until the absolute last minute as I have too much time invested to stop now. I have enough in my wardrobe to get the 30K, but the idea of moving each piece out and putting it in my gallery makes me shudder.

Oh heck yes!!! D: Would have to change the qualifications on the ach though, since it is strictly for what is in your shop/gallery
Though I still realize retiring would save my sanity... lol it's hard to let go! I'm with ya my hoard will stay till the last minute and OH how I wish there was a way to quickly move my massive wardrobe over to the hoard and back lol This account worth option would make that unneccessary though!
