Please go back and read some of the posts. It's not the hoarding, it's the achievements. And several of us would gladly pare our collections down if the achievement were spread out among the collections,or switched over to the vaults, or some other compromise, instead of arbitrarily retiring the achievement and punishing people who have worked damn hard trying to reach it.

what i regret the most is that i did put my plushies and stickers in collections first and that i feeded my pet his 6242 unique gourmand foods :)

if would have waited and kept them for the unique hoarder achievements i would have had it now rofl - guess i took the wrong choices at the start

I did read all the posts. The achievement and the hoarding are one in the same.

No, they're not. Read more closely. People are saying that we can keep on hoarding WITHOUT the achievements, but without the achievements there is no reason to!!!! Honestly, is compromise really that hard of a concept?

Okay I don't know what you're trying to say. That's the whole point of this. Without the achievements, there is less incentive to hoard... so it helps lessen the issue hoarding as a whole is causing. Hoarding = bad. Get rid of the achievements = help get rid of the hoarding problem.

Listen closely now and try to understand. Achievements are half the fun here for a lot of people. ACHIEVEMENTS! There are people here who have worked for years on this particular achievement. They don't deserve to be punished for an achievement that Keith set up in the first place! Compromise, don't retire the achievements! I've been working towards it myself, but more fool me, I let it slide for a while to work on other achievements, because I thought I had time to get back to it.

Not retiring the achievement is not compromise. That's a win-lose. You win, everyone else loses.

One more time.

  1. Transfer the hoarding to the vault instead of a gallery.
  2. Spread the hoarding out to include the wardrobe, the beanbag collection and the plushie collection, so people can get rid of those items and shrink the gallery. Compromise, so everyone is happy.

The achievements still have to be retired eventually. So what, compromise for the time until the achievements do get sacked?

YES! If nothing else, it will give the serious people time to finish. And WHY do they have to be retired? You sound like you think compromise is a bad thing.

The reason for retiring them is because of the issue it presents on site. If this issue is fixed (spreading out counts to places like collections, wardrobes...) then what is the point of retiring the achievement?

would adding the ability to count stuff in collections (beanbags, stickers, plushies) wardrobe and vault be less stressful at all, or is that just not possible?

I can't find the older topic (side note the old forums are completely unviewable) but I could have sworn you were more than willing to try and find a compromise so people don't loose the years of work they have invested.

^^ Exactly this is why they need to be retired. I don't think you read the entire thread, because that was a major point on the first? page.

For the love of Pete! The reason they're talking about retiring them is because of the size of the galleries, which is what the compromises are supposed to fix!!!!

Assuming it's possible.

Even if it counted the wardrobe and collections, that's only accounting for about 28K (give or take) items. What about the other possible 18K items? Those are still going to be in a gallery. That's still ALOT of items.

It's a lot less than 30,000, 40,000 or 45,000. Why are you so dead set against ANY type of compromise? I see that you're the OP and you seem to have a real bugabear about hoarders.

It's a lot less, but it's still a lot. I have 11k unique / 20K total items in my gallery and even that kills the site when I try to load it. I'm not set against compromise, but the achievements still need to be retired. Keeping them gives incentive to new users/users who haven't gone after the achievement yet. Retiring it gets rid of that completely. It's not going to bring in more hoards. It's not going to completely disband the ones already in existence, but it's better to prevent them in the future.

I'm sorry but I would much rather have the site working more efficiently than keep this (stupid) achievement in effect. I'm sure Keith even regrets making it an achievement in the first place!

But he DID make them and people are trying to achieve them. You know what? I'm THROUGH wasting my time with you. I'm going to go now and keep transferring my items and MAKING AS BIG A GALLERY AS I CAN! With luck I can hit at least one if not two of the tiers before I lose my chance.

Right, I did make them and now after years of watching what it does to the database I've decided I was wrong to add them, and it's not in the sites best interest.

I'll run a few tests to see how data intensive that is, if it's only checked once a day or something it could be fine. It's just running through ALL of your items on the site is super hard to do.

I pretty much agree with all the points mentioned. What I find irksome is, having double items sitting idly in shops/galleries just to aid in getting the hoarder achievements and it can't be put to better use. It also is a waste of space. Aren't galleries supposed to just store the things that I like, instead of being used as hoards? Wouldn't or shouldn't the vaults be the main point of hoarding items?

I still feel that it would be a better compromise if the hoarder achievement was counted across the whole account instead of just in the shops/galleries. That way, it might save some strain caused on Subeta. Or maybe not.

That would be super awesome! I hope it would help curb a bit of the frenzy when it comes to 'ugh i need two of everything collectible'

Hopefully this will be a better compromise then removing an achievement so people have been chipping away at for so long.
